I was in Bellingham on a daytrip for work, and the guys i was meeting up with took the wrong exit...instead of Sunset Drive they got off at Lakeway Drive. It's a good thing I went to meet them rather than waiting for them to come find me because it gave me an excuse to try this place. The parkinglot is a zoo, you're lucky if you find somewhere to put your car. I ended up going inside to get my food to-go because the tables were full and the drive-in area was full, so it was just easier to go eat in the car. I tried the teriyaki burger with waffle fries and the creamsicle milkshake. The burger was decent, definitely above fast-food quality, and the flavours were nice. A bit messy but what good burgers aren't? The waffle fries were amazing. Lightly seasoned, I think there was some paprika in with the salt they were tossed in...and the consistency of freshly cut not frozen potatoes. Super hot too, freshly cooked to order. The milkshake was the best part...I almost went back inside for another one it was so good. I've been going to Boomers for quite some time growing up. There's no doubt that it's a local classic here in Bellingham, and it's frankly tasty. I generally get the Big Boom burger which is awesome. In my younger years I occasionally ordered chicken strips which I remember being addicting, luckily rehab wasn't necessary. They've got the simple foods perfected. Thier milkshakes though are my favorite part. They have a very diverse shake selection which I appreciate, and they make them very well. Overall it's a fun place to stop by and grab a nice bite to eat. However is this place the best spot in town? Personally I don't think so, I believe that it's overrated, or at this point in time at least. It's alright. The first time I went to Boomer's, I wasn't familiar with their menu, I just knew I wanted a bacon cheeseburger, fries, and a drink. I don't know if the waitress was stupid, new, or trying to raise the price in the hopes of a big tip, but in all I paid over $10 for this meal. As I was driving away, I noticed the special on their leaderboard that would've given me basically the same meal for about half the price. I was pretty pissed, so I didn't eat there again for about 3 years. I started going again when they had their anniversary sale, and every burger was like $2.99. I went about 6 times during this sale, and most of the times the burger was REALLY good. Occasionally, it was on the gamey side. Gamey burgers creep me out. I've never been inside the restaurant, and I've never ordered anything except the bacon cheeseburger, except for that first time when I ordered fries and a drink with it, so I can't speak for any item but that one burger. (Update: I've since had the fish burger, and I think it's delicious. And my sister about died in ecstasy over the onion rings.) However, I can say that if you're going to park and order outside, the waitresses DO expect to be tipped, so come prepared for that, or to encounter a bit of an attitude. read more

My wife and I love going here, Food is outstanding and you get a pretty good meal for the price. They have a spot where you can park and they will come out and serve you your food or you can sit in there restraunt where they have a huge fire place in the middle of the room where you can sit around and eat next to the fire place or off to the side at your own table. They got good fries and onion rings shakes with several flavoirs and several burgers to choose from. Plus if you got kids they got a pretty cool kids meal that is served in a cardboard car. Boomers use to be my go to place for a "classic drive in" style burger. Yet the last 3 occasions have been such a let down. The burgers have decreased in quality, the patties are thinner, alot of gristle and overcooked, the buns are soaked with sauce and are much like a thin piece of bread. The flavor is lacking and I am so bummed about the decline in quality of this place. I'll be taking a long break from boomers with the hopes of my next return being much more similar to how they used to be. read more

I have lived in Bellingham for over 20 years and have been eating at Boomers for most of those years. They used to be terrific but in the last few years have steadily gone downhill. The patties are absolutely awful, dry, tasteless and they have a bad texture. Like really bad, I don't know what they are buying but it can barely pass for meat. It is really disappointing because they used to be so good. Everyone in town knows this neighborhood is sketchy which is not Boomers fault but last time I was there a guy was either doing or selling drugs in the bathroom (several trips in and out with different people he was meeting in the parking lot) and the staff could not have cared less. The owners need to invest some serious money and time into this place before it completely goes by the wayside. read more

Ah Boomuary where you can show up 5 minutes early and you'll get your order 10 minutes late cold as fuck and probably half of it rubbery and inedible... their milkshakes and waffle fries are delicious and the only thing worth commending... really the problems seem to be all ownership related as they use cheaper proteins during Boomuary and understaff the waitstaff to the point your food sits and sits before it gets to you... when I first moved to Bellingham 15 years ago my friends and I all loved Boomuary as the quality stayed the same but with a more affordable price point... in the last 7-8 years though the quality of service and product has dropped every year to the point where I try it once a year to see if the owners have pulled their head out and each year I'm saddened to see they have not... this place is a case study in how to drive away repeat business and I hope they close for good soon and get replaced by a new burger joint that has an actual functional business model... read more

I went here a couple of days ago because of the great reviews on here. Sadly I was super disappointed with my experience here. I wasn't sure that this place was even open. Many menu boards are broken and the place looks all run down. There was a small sign saying "yes, we are open". I guess other customers wonder too as to whether they are open or not. Against my better judgement, I decided to try this place anyway. I waited forever for service and then even longer to get the food. I ordered chicken strips, a stadium dog, waffle fries and a boomer burger. The strips were soggy. The waffle fries dry and hard. The stadium dog and bun were so badly burned black that there was no way one could eat it. The burger was super soggy and coated in some mysterious white gunk and the patty was undercooked. At least 3/4 of the food we ordered was thrown out. What a waste. Won't come back here again read more

I used to LOVE Boomers, like it was my favorite place to go for a birthday kind of place. Lately it has gone so downhill. Most of the time the bun is soggy from moisture, the fake plastic cheese is halfway on and halfway off the burger. Home for the holidays and thought it would be cool to take the wife and kids to a real drive in! Waitresses were super friendly and prompt (make sure you turn your lights off if you can when you show up if you don't know what you want to order yet because they will come out). We got the boomer burger no cheese, regular waffle fries and sweet potato waffle fries. Kids got the corndog basket which came in a pretty cool 1950's cardboard car (nice touch!) that they though was super cool. The burger was good even without the cheese....so we ordered another burger and a small strawberry shake after we finished the first one! I like the regular waffle fries and wife/kids like the sweet potato. This place is half food and half experience. We don;t eat fast food very often, but this was a lot of fun and it's great to support a local business instead of a national chain. read more

The shakes are great! I had a strawberry shake and it was very good and chunky with large bits of actual strawberry in it which I like, but is a bit of a pain with a straw after a while! I've had a few burgers here, the honey dijon chicken burger is excellent but it's really messy and dripped a lot, so definitely have paper towels in your car at the ready :) The wait times are slightly long, but it may be because I've just recently eaten there during their anniversary sale months and it was crowded. I'm not sure where all the great reviews are coming from. Great idea on the old fashioned drive in burger place. We were not impressed. The burger had no flavor and was flat as a pancake! The bacon on one of our burgers lacked flavor, possibly microwave bacon. Curly fries tasted like they haven't changed their oil in a LONG time. The malt shake was nothing to rave about. My daughter and I felt sick to our stomachs within 30 minutes eating here. Sorry this place is just not good! Go somewhere else for a burger. read more

Good old American classic drive-up, sometimes can be a bit hit or miss with some greasy/great quality burgers. They were a staple in college, with reasonable prices and super nice waitresses. Good burgers, great waffle fries and a whole bunch of milkshakes to choose from. It gets busy but if you don't mind eating in your car you can pull up and wait at the drive inn. If you do though you'll miss a nice little warm place to eat complete with a gas fireplace. I always call ahead to skip the line and they are normally pretty good with their estimated time of food readiness. Typically burger joint. Prices are decent. Usually my experiences are pretty tasty but not this time. I went in to order a chicken burger and I asked if they had a fried chicken verses grilled chicken and the lady that took my order said yes, so I said I'll take a crispy chicken burger. Not only was it $1 more... But it was not a crispy chicken burger 8| It was a couple fried chicken stripes piled with some veggies between 2 soggy buns. What is this???? Definitely not the burger I had in mind. If I was told that crispy chicken burger meant fried chicken strips between buns, I would probably say no thank you. The reason why it was disappointing is because every time I would take a bite the burger kept falling apart. Since it wasn't one big strip but rather 2, it made the burger uneven and hard to eat. We live near Portland, OR but when we are in Bellingham, WA we stop by Boomers almost every time! This place is better than any fast food burger place you'll find for a wayyy better price. They sometimes have seasonal sweet potato fries and those are so great! Definitely recommend stopping by this place if you're craving a burger. I went in for lunch yesterday afternoon at around 2:00 PM. Very crowded. The tables are all too close together. The burger itself was dry, the bun stale and soggy. Our families favorite spot to go on a nice sunny day. The milkshakes are to die for and the cheeseburgers are the bees knees! I love that they've captured the drive-in feel and the food taste amazing! It's never a problem finding something to eat on the boomers menu. Love the music and love the vibe. Their burgers are big and good. Their waffle fries and milkshakes are amazing!! In February all their burgers go on special for $3 which is such a great price. If you eat in your car (Boomers is a drive in), then you might wait longer than you want, and when service takes forever, it's not worth the money. However, you can call ahead and pick up your food when you get there and eat in the restaurant or take it home, which is my preference. read more
