Not fast and not healthy. We went because they were "dog friendly" on Yelp, but we didn't realize that this just meant you were allowed to have your dog in the car. The veggie patty was ok, but then there was some kind of undesirable white substance on it - maybe cheese, maybe mayonaise, I don't know. My cup of lemonade had about two sips of drink and the rest was pure ice. Not a good value. I think the worst part was the music. You basically have to have your window rolled down because your tray is attached to it, this means you have no way of escaping the ever-upbeat melodies of the golden era. No thanks. I feel like I don't love Boomers as much as most people do but I still think it's really good! They can get messy and I'm usually a messy eater so maybe that's why I don't enjoy it as much haha. Their burgers have their special Boomers sauce in it which has a nice savory taste to it. I usually get the Mushroom Swiss Burger so adding the sauce onto that makes it really tasty! I love their shakes and waffle fries though, I always get the shake in hot fudge. I mostly eat here when they have their Boomuary sale every January-February because all of their burgers are $2.99. The restaurant itself is pretty small. I think it's cute that's there's a fireplace in the middle and you can sit around it. Because of the popularity and size of the restaurant, it can be hard to find seating and the line can be really long. Of course since this is a drive-in you can park at the drive in area, order from there and get the food delivered to you, but it can still be a wait especially during the anniversary sale. You can call ahead and order but even the lines can get busy and you still have a wait in line to pay and for your food to cook. The 50's-style drive-in diner is, understandably, not too popular in the PNW (it's just not as fun to eat in your car when it's raining, rather than in your top-down convertible in the sun... plus we all eat in our cars so regularly now that the novelty has long worn off). World's worst service. I ordered ahead. When I got there, I saw my order was ready and waiting on the counter. But no one offered up any of the orders that were ready. Instead I had to wait behind not one, not two, but three different people who needed to place an order and were busy hemming and hawing and deciding what to order. FINALLY I get to the front of the line and the person taking the orders walked AWAY! She said, "I'll be right back." So I called out saying that I just needed to pick up my order and that it was ready but she ignored me while I stood there with my order sitting on the counter right in front of me. I kept waiting until finally I got fed up and started calling out to the 5 or so people in the back who were too busy cooking and preparing orders to hand me my food! They gave me eye rolls and a snarky attitude. Finally someone walks up and asks for my name before handing my order over with no apologies. I asked to be refunded my $2 tip because I could not handle just how terrible their logistics were and the overall lack of empathy. I will say, they have the old 60's "Drive-In" atmosphere nailed, with the window-side menu boards, carhops, and even the trays that clip to your car window--like Sonic used to be back when it was cool. The only thing missing is the rollerskates, and that's probably because OSHA won't allow it anymore. So, you pull in beside a menu board, turn your headlights on, and wait (and wait, and wait) for a carhop to come take your order. I saw a couple of cars turn their lights back off and pull away, presumably tired of waiting. Then, you wait and wait some more for your order to be delivered and clipped to your car window. (The window tray was actually significantly less convenient than in my childhood memories, by the way.) I ordered a "Boomer Burger", onion rings, and a medium soda. The food was rather below my expectations; the oddly-rectangular meat patty was clearly of the mechanically-preformed frozen variety, probably 1/10 pound. The onion rings were fine, but were clearly also factory made. The "medium" soda would probably be considered a child size anywhere else. In short, the food didn't hold a candle to the actual freshly-made burgers and sides I am used to from my hometown places like Teddy's Bigger Burgers, Woodinville Cafe, or (yes, I'm going there) Red Robin. I actually don't even think it was as good as Jack in the Box--I could have ordered a Jumbo Jack & onion rings combo and gotten more and better food, much faster for less money. HORRIBLE SERVICE!!! We waited for about 20 minutes at the drive-in spot until someone served us! No apology for a long wait, even though there were only 4 other cars there. Apparently, they don't know how to multitask (i.e. delivering an order and then taking another order on the way back). The waitresses do not have a sense of urgency. They have you turn on your headlights to be served, but they didn't even notice them until I turned on my high beams. We only wanted to order their malts for dessert and after not simply giving us a "sorry for the wait, what can i get for you?", she took our orders, and came out with four messy malts. There was chocolate all over the tray and was dripping down in our CAR. You would think that they would know to make things neater and cleaner for people's CARS, especially since we were in a rental. The only reason they get two stars is because their malts were pretty good. I heard this other couple complain about the wait and the waitress was NOT sympathetic AT ALL. The couple was super old too! And all the waitress said to them (in a rude tone) was: "well.... we're all training now, so yea" We tried it because we were in town for the Bellinham Highland Games and the reviews on yelp were decent... but NEVER AGAIN!!! I like that Boomer's has an idea of what a reasonable meal is. It isn't a pound of waffle fries and a large cheeseburger, as some restaurants think it is. I feel like the restaurant is making America a little healthier, by showing people how many waffle fries we should eat, that we don't need a 48oz soda, and that we don' need a large cheeseburger. If you want a large cheeseburger, though, it is an option. It is also an option for Boomer's to use the word "soda" instead of "pop". I feel like the restaurant's use of the word "pop" is sooo 1994. The waffle fries are actually really tasty, though. However, I didn't like the Fruity Pebbles ® ice cream milkshake. It was just Fruity Pebbles ®, ice cream, and milk. It really needed more flavors or more Fruity Pebbles ®. The cheeseburger that I got was alright. It needed more meat and less lettuce. I also wish that they'd told me that I should ask for anything else I wanted on it... like ketchup. Also, I feel like the restaurant needs more areas to sit. The food is so good and fairly priced and it's a super cute atmosphere! I drove up today to grab food and go, I ordered and they told me it would be about a 10 minute wait. I was sitting in my car for what seemed like a while and was just ready to get home. Finally the waitress came out and apologized for it taking so long and ended up refunding me my entire meal. She apologized again and explained that the fries were burned and they had to make a new batch. So not only was the customer service absolutely amazing but my meal was exactly the way I wanted it! Constantly making mistakes. I love to buy Boomers for the office but they just can't get an order correct. I have never had an order correct. Orders have been short fries, shakes or burgers. You name it and it has been missed. I don't know how this constantly happens. Thursday night was the night for fast food and our travels took us to Boomer's Drive-In. We sat inside where the focus of the room is the very big fireplace that keeps everyone toasty, much appreciated on a damp winter night. We had The Big Boom (the 2-patty half-pound hefty one) and the Mushroom Swiss with waffle fries and a soda. The bun is big but airy, it collapses into a nice chewy mass just the way it should as opposed to the crusty ones that cut the roof of your mouth. The tomato is thinly sliced and lettuce is shredded. It's all fresh and all good. The waffle fries were particularly good and crispy. You don't always find big pieces of fried potato with crispy outsides but these were great, on par with McDonalds. The topper was when they gave me the bill and I found that the burgers are all $2.99 for the February! Go to Boomer's and fill up on good fresh food. read more

I was in Bellingham on a daytrip for work, and the guys i was meeting up with took the wrong exit...instead of Sunset Drive they got off at Lakeway Drive. It's a good thing I went to meet them rather than waiting for them to come find me because it gave me an excuse to try this place. A bit messy but what good burgers aren't? The waffle fries were amazing. Lightly seasoned, I think there was some paprika in with the salt they were tossed in...and the consistency of freshly cut not frozen potatoes. Super hot too, freshly cooked to order. The milkshake was the best part...I almost went back inside for another one it was so good. It's alright. The first time I went to Boomer's, I wasn't familiar with their menu, I just knew I wanted a bacon cheeseburger, fries, and a drink. I don't know if the waitress was stupid, new, or trying to raise the price in the hopes of a big tip, but in all I paid over $10 for this meal. As I was driving away, I noticed the special on their leaderboard that would've given me basically the same meal for about half the price. I was pretty pissed, so I didn't eat there again for about 3 years. I started going again when they had their anniversary sale, and every burger was like $2.99. I went about 6 times during this sale, and most of the times the burger was REALLY good. Occasionally, it was on the gamey side. Gamey burgers creep me out. I've never been inside the restaurant, and I've never ordered anything except the bacon cheeseburger, except for that first time when I ordered fries and a drink with it, so I can't speak for any item but that one burger.
