Boston Chowda was on my list of places to try if I ever come to Boston. There might be a small line but it was still worth it! It was a little confusing on how to get into this place but overall we found it! Came here during the night as a dinner and are a lobster roll and their infamous clam chowder. I also tried their lobster mac and cheese! It had a lot of different cheeses in it so just beware it is cheesy! The food was hot and great for the cold weather. Pretty good spot in Faneuil Hall , that's the big Quincy Market indoor dining and shopping place across from the back end of City Hall. Subway stops right here - the Green line to Government Center stop . We got one of their special deals - that's a Buttered Lobster Roll with your choice of soup or chowder and a small drink for $33 . We tried the clam chowder and also ordered a Small Lobster Bisque for $10 approx. The Bisque was tasty, I thought it was better than the clam chowder though it's thinner but has a nice flavor. Not overpowering. One lobster roll is enough for two to share if you get an extra small soup fyi. Good luck finding a seat and table at 12 noon ! Finally returned to Boston after three years! First stop was lunch at Quincy Market. It was around 2pm, so the food hall wasn't too crowded. I stopped at Boston Chowda that offered a meal with a lobster roll (cold or hot), a cup of clam chowder and a small drink. Easy decision. When I received the food, I was very surprised by the generous portion of the lobster roll (I had the one with hot butter). As you can see in the picture, there was a generous portion of lobster meat between the soft and buttery roll. A little squeeze of lemon helped balanced the richness from the butter. This spot is part of a larger marketplace with a food court style of service. With that being said, there is a lot of traffic and many of their dishes are prepared ahead of time. We had the lobster Mac and cheese, which was ok. It had large chunks of lobster, but the cheese in the Mac in cheese was not the best. It was a little dry and didn't have a lot of depth. We also had the main lobster roll special that came with a cup of clam chowder and a drink. The lobster roll was good, but needed more butter. The chowder was a little on the thin side. We had to visit the famous Quincy market, this was the very first place we visited as soon as we arrived in Boston because our train was delayed and we were getting hangry. It was obviously very touristy, a bit reminded me of fisherman's wharf in San Francisco but as a tourist I kinda liked it. Everything was pretty pricey as how it is now everywhere but again, considering it's a pretty good amount of lobster meat, I thought that plus New England clam chowder with a small drink for $35 isn't too bad. What can I say, this was the best, albeit the only lobster roll I had in my life up to this point. (The next day I had one at Fenway park that was trash compared to this one). Boston Chowda is the most popular restaurant in Quincy Market. My few visits to Quincy Market it definitely has the longest lines but it's worth the try. The lobsters are slightly more expensive than the other restaurants. The MP was a lobster roll was around $37-$38. I had the hot buttered Maine lobster roll, the seasoning was good and the meat was very fresh and tender. Their New England clam chowder with bread bowl was very flavorful. I don't think if I would come back for the lobster roll since it's quite pricey but I would definitely come back for the clam chowder if I'm in Boston. I had been telling my bf about this place for years and I made sure on this trip we stopped by for a cup of soup. Neither one of us really cared that it was almost 90ﾟF outside, that chowda was going with me. Hey, cars have air conditioners and eating in the car is best during covid, am I right? This place is crazy expensive, the ladies working the counters are good at persuading you in ordering their combo meal, and their hot or cold sandwiches is only 2 dollars cheaper but tastes the same. I love the Plymouth Corn Chowder here and was looking forward to a bread bowl full of it, but during covid, they have slimmed down their menu. Once it's back on the menu, I definitely recommend it. We were staying around the corner so I ended up back here the day we left. While I'd had lobster, I didn't have a lobster roll on this trip and needed to remedy that asap. Luckily, you can get lobster rolls here at 11am! We got one of each and headed out to the tables outside (all the tables etc from the rotunda have been removed for covid). We got a Maine style and a Connecticut style. I normally go for the ME with mayo served cold, but on this chilly day, the warm butter and hot lobster meat may have made me switch sides. I got an entire lobster dinner at a nice restaurant nearby for a couple more dollars than the rolls here. The prices are a little steep. It's to be expected. It's in a touristy area, but the quality of the food was solid.
