If you are around or pay a visit to Quincy Market (Faneuil Hall Marketplace) and you enjoy seafood, this is the place! I've heard of Boston Clam Chowder (New England Clam Chowder) so many times, and because I'm a clam chowder fan, I had to pick Boston Chowda out of the many food stall options in the marketplace. The marketplace was packed on that Sunday afternoon. The line for Boston Chowda was long and I waited around for about 30 minutes. When I reached the front of the line, I was able to see a small sign on the countertop that advertised a combo special. I asked the line server what's included in the combo, and she was so exasperated to answer me. She made it clear that she was annoyed with my question and only wanted the line to move at the speed of light. I would appreciate better service because as a first time customer, having any questions cleared up before I spend so much on food is reasonable. I only wanted to make an informed decision. I understand that they're busy, but gosh. So, I'm giving the service rating a 2. I got a cup of clam chowder and one buttered lobster roll for a total of $32. Damn. The chowder was hot and creamy, sort of seasoned, and filled with lots of potatoes and not a whole lot of clam pieces. I've had better in San Francisco. The clam chowder wasn't bad by any means, but it wasn't drool-worthy. The buttered lobster roll was the star of the show. The bread was lightly crisp and toasted on the inside. The butter? Oh yeah, you bet there was a healthy (pun intended) portion of butter in there. It enhanced the taste of the roll! The lobster was very thick, meaty, and tender. Super fresh lobster meat! I still long for it. I had a friend with me who's not a huge fan of lobster, but after he took a bite of my lobster roll, he asked for more. If you just have the buttered lobster roll, it's not a filling meal, but it'll satisfy your taste buds and you'll have had some fresh, quality lobster. First time trying the Boston Chowda Co. yesterday. The pot pies they have on display looked killer so I opt to try the lobster pot pie. I was under the impression that'll be like a chicken pot pie with the pie crust since I never had a lobster pot pie before. The pie came out nice and warm but it didn't have the crust of the pie as I thought it would be. It was more like a soup with breaded crumbs in a bowl. Still, It did look delicious though. When I got to eating it, I thought it was just okay. Decent amount of lobster in it but I didn't think the dish was all that great. Located inside of Quincy Market this is a good place to fill up on a variety of lobster dishes. We found this to be a convenient stop for a bite on our walk of The Freedom Trail. We shared Lobster Mac-N-Cheese and a Lobster Roll. Both items were really good. The lobster in both dishes was fresh and delicious. The mac-n-cheese had a nice flavor with a delicious crumb topping. The lobster roll was lightly dressed which allowed the fresh lobster to stand out. The chowder that came with the lobster roll was creamy and delicious. Not far from the stand is the main seating area in the middle of Quincy Market where you can sit or stand to enjoy your lobster indulgences. I was in Boston for the day and had read on Yelp that this was a prime spot for a lobster roll. Boston Chowda offers a special that includes a traditional cold lobster roll, small clam chowder and a small drink for about $24. (If you substitute for the hot lobster roll, it increases to about $30.) Although $24 is more than I would have liked to spend for lunch, it was worth a try considering that I've been wanting an "authentic" lobster roll from the East Coast. The lobster roll was contained a fairly good amount of lobster - it was cooked well and mixed with an ideal amount of mayo. I must highlight the bread - a lightly toasted brioche bun brushed with garlic butter....so so good! The freshness of the lobster and the warmth of the bread made each bite enjoyable, but the garlic butter really made it complete by adding that extra layer of flavor. The clam chowder was creamy and rather hearty. It had loads of potatoes and large clam pieces. Very tasty and comforting. I'm glad to have tried Boston Chowda, but the prices are on the steeper end probably somewhat due to Quincy Market being a tourist spot. It is located inside the Faneuil Hall, I have been there in the past but never inside and I heard and seen the reviews and I was glad I tried it. It is on the pricier side but I was out there visiting and wanted to taste the lobster rolls. I also ordered a side of clam chowder, nothing special but still very good and tasty. Since the Faneuil Hall is big we found seating on the second floor it was quite and we had some natural sunlight come in thru the big windows which kept us nice and warm. I read this was one of the hot spots to check out at the Quincy market. It was a cold day and warm soup sounded like the perfect cure. The Clam chowder had real bits of seafood and was full of creamy flavors. A small cup filled me up. The soup wasn't that hot which was disappointing because I ordered it warm up. They had a bunch of other seafood menu items and a lot of people seemed to be ordering the lobster roll and lobster Mac.
