After arriving from a trip my wife and I walked over to Bottino for dinner, since we live close by. We weren't disappointed. The food is fresh and delicious. The baby arugula, fennel salad is amazing. My wife enjoyed her Branzino and I had the Tagliatelle Bolognese. The service staff is friendly, Amy in particular gave us great recommendations. Although it looks small from the street, when we walked in we were pleasantly surprised to see a big eating area, which is not to common in NYC. I'm always amazed how one venue can gather both one and five star reviews. Our experience on a Tuesday night was a solid four. Contrary to some reviews, service was prompt and courteous. The menu is limited but varied. I had an salad and filet of branzino. The fish was perfectly done. Everyone (party of 5) said they would return. My glass of wine was a generous pour. We arrive at 6:30 PM and the place was almost empty. For the first hour the noise level was quite below average. When we left 2 hrs later the restaurant was probably 2/3 full and the noise level was up perceptibly. I suspect at full capacity the noise level would be uncomfortably loud. Tables are small, but this aided conversation. By today's standards I'd rate the prices as high-moderate. My entree was $27 but pastas are in the low $20s. read more

Had a business dinner here recently. Really cute decor and vibe. Started with the Autumn market salad which was very good. As an entree, I was torn between the branzino and the strip steak. I went with the branzino and unfortunately made the wrong choice. The fish was fine, but nothing to write home about. My friend ordered the strip steak and it was delicious. I found Bottino on yelp and am so glad I did. Our daughter's bridal shower in the East Garden went beautifully. The events team is incredibly helpful and easy to work with; their good spirits and desire to make things as easy as possible for the host and guests is apparent in every interaction, e.g., they reply extremely promptly and when asked for suggestions each of them has a very light touch based on their experience; every judgement call turned out to be the right one. We also appreciated the fact that there are no surprises in the cost, they sent us updated estimates with the changes we made as we got closer to the event. The food was delicious: the appetizers, salad, entrees and dessert all were excellent. The service was attentive and goodnatured and the ambiance is lovely. Quaint spot with nice rooms and table settings. I was here for an company event and we were seated in the outdoor patio. Cute overhead hanging lights. As for the food, we had a preset menu (menus are on their website)- I had looked ahead of time and decided on the lobster fettuccine but to my dismay they had taken it off their in-person menu. Settled for their spinach ravioli which was unsatisfying. The sides were hard and the taste was very mild. Tiramisu was also more like cake and did not have that creamy texture. The Entree dishes at our table for 8 were ridiculous. I went for simple but hardest to get right - The Cacio e pepe was the best I've ever had. Anywhere. Everyone loved their entree. Came out for lunch with a friend and sat outside in the garden. The outdoor seating is excellent and there's several heaters That make outdoor dining in January pleasant. The staff is extremely courteous service is excellent. Awesome drinks and the Menu is very vegetarian friendly. Went here for a dinner one night in the city. The ambiance was a little odd - no music playing so a lot of dead sound. Then the food was good, but very small portion sizes - we got a bread and cheese platter and there were literally 3 tiny pieces of bread for 3 cheese wedges - we asked for more and got 2 more tiny slices. I went to Bottino with a friend last week and we split the fried artichoke as an app and both ordered the tagliatelle in a tomato based meat sauce. The meal also came with bread. The red wine I ordered was excellent (sorry, I can't remember the name). The friend artichoke kind of reminded me of Outback's bloomin' onion- I'm sure the owners would disagree here but it's what I what of. It tasted more flavorful though and slightly healthier (despite it being fried). The pasta was cooked Al dente- and in my opinion was cooked to perfection. I loved it! We were full by the end of the meal, so opted out of dessert. The restaurant was lively with a crowd of mixed age ranges. It seemed to be a popular spot in the location. I recommended it to a friend the next day and he was there that night. He agreed with my assessment as well. read more

My friends and I were seated in the back room which we liked since it was quieter and the temperature was nice and cold on a hot night. The room did fill up as the evening went on. We had a very friendly waiter who helped us select which appetizer would be good for our trio. We all had different pastas for entrees (I recommend the fettucini with seafood). For dessert we had a special: the chocolate and hazelnut tart. Usually the desserts are on the small side when sharing with three people, but this was actually the perfect portion for the table. My experience at Bottino was lovely! The decor is nice, especially the garden area. The customer service is excellent. Our English waiter was very funny, professional, took our guest's (excessive) banter in stride. Everyone was very happy with their choices and dessert. I ordered: Fettuccine with shrimp/lobster ($22): very yummy. I was pleased and the proteins were cooked nicely. Pecan tart ($10): DIVINE! I was strongly craving artificial sugar and this delivered. It wasn't over the top cloyingly sweet as one would expect from a pecan tart. It was sweet and the pastry tart was so good! The ice cream was a perfect matching. Highly recommend. Danny and his staff did an amazing job hosting a small private brunch event we had there this weekend. Social distancing and health measures were all used. This place is incredible. The patio has a great ambiance for a first OR third date ;0). My girlfriend said the burrata was "disrespectfully delicious." I'm not 100% sure what that means, but the way her eyes rolled back in her head made me feel inadequate as a lover. The lamb and tagliatelle were both perfectly prepared. The service was spectacular. It was everything I imagined.  Working with them to plan the day was the most seamless and easy process I've ever gone through working with a restaurant. My other friend ordered the filet mignon (which he said was delicious), but they got his side order wrong. The whole thing was just inconsistent and therefore a tad disappointing. Went here with a friend to grab a bite to eat on a Saturday night. The place wasn't too packed, so we were able to find a seat right away. To start off the meal, they brought out some bread and butter--which was pretty standard. We split an order of the beet salad, which was actually better than I was expecting as they had mixed the beets with some sort of dill mixture that really heightened the flavor. For my main course, I went with the halibut special that came with pureed potatoes and haricot vers and zucchini. The halibut was cooked perfectly and the veggies--though not a lot in quantity--were very good. The sauce was also very good, as were the pureed potatoes that might have been my favorite thing on the plate. Overall, this place definitely has a great aesthetic and energy. I checked out Bottino after living on the block for a few years and found it to be an adequate spot for a nice dinner with my girlfriend. There are a few improvements that could be made that would make it amazing and after my first dinner here I think I would come back to give it anothet shot. The Pros - The dish that really blew me away and was the stand out dish of the night was the Burrata and Speck appetizer. Top notch, super delicious taste. The salty richness of the speck was perfect with the soft slightly funky taste of the cheese. Super, super delicious. --- A - I would also recommend the Bruchetta - lightly tosted bread with very fresh tomatoes and basil and a super authentic Italian olive oil that left me wanting more. I love Bruchetta and this one did not disappoint. --- B+ - The atmosphere for our dinner was wonderful. We sat on the open air seating outside and enjoyed the cool night breeze and the candlelit dinner. I was looking for a romantic setting and Bottino did not disappoint on this front. --- B+ The Cons - I ordered the lobster seafood fettucine special and it was very average considering the price. I have to give a shout out for the huge chunks of lobster which is not typical for this type of dish but is something that I really love and appreciate . However, the overall taste of the dish was bland. The tomato based sauce was lackluster and the fettucine lacked the nice al dente texture that I enjoy. Overall, I wouldn't order it again but did enjoy the savory lobster aside from the rest of the dish -- C+ - The service started out amazing for the first third of our experience. Our waitress recommended a great medium bodied red wine which was delicious and paired well with our appetizers and entrees. However, after we placed our order she disappeared for the rest of the evening and no one else came to check on us for the rest of our meal. We had to flag down another server to get cheese for our pasta and waited an inordinate amount of time for our check. When we left she was sitting in the front chatting with other employees. I was very impressed with her but she may have failed to transition us to another server when she went on break. I would expect much better service from this tier of restaurant. --- D TLDR - Bottino is an average neighborhood spot that I would be willing to give a second chance. I had the tagliatelle bolognese which was pretty good but could have used a little more flavor. Some of my friends ordered the branzino, octopus, and cacio e pepe. The portion size for cacio e pepe wasn't as big as the bolognese but my friends seemed to enjoy it. Also, my one friend tried to switch out the broccoli rabe that comes with the branzino for mushrooms but she was told that they wouldn't be able to accommodate that. EVIDENCE from Chelsea: - Line down the block of folks queuing for a glimpse of Picasso's Mosqueteros at the Gagosian Gallery - Clement Clarke Moore Park packed with kids and parents - Crowds leisurely enjoying cupcakes on the benches outside Billy's Bakery Our late lunch at Bottino was the closest thing to dining al fresco - the restaurant's huge skylight allowed the sunshine to pour in. We shared a bottle of dry white wine (they kept it iced tableside) which went well with both the orecchiette my favorite Washingtonian ordered and my chicken and avocado on focaccia. The experience reminded me a lot of brunch at Foreign Cinema in San Francisco. Which makes me think Bottino would make an excellent setting for a private event. Looks like we won't get temperatures like yesterday's again until Friday or so but I think it's safe to say that New Yorkers are more than ready for springtime! read more

Great experience at Bottino for a recent business lunch. The cocktails are on point and the service was friendly and attentive and well versed in the menu. We felt very well taken care of. The squid ink pasta and branzino entrees were standouts. We also enjoyed the burrata and fried artichoke starters.
