I usually have half combo with Clam Chowder and Turkey Cranberry Sandwich since it's only around 600 calories. I placed a pick up order for 3:45. Establishment is not busy at all - way more employees than customers. 1 salad is all that I ordered. I get to the pick up counter and three workers are standing there, yet no one greets me or asks me for my name. I see my salad sitting on the high top between the kitchen and the pick up counter. One of the workers proceeds to announce that she's taking her 10 minute break. Another one spent about an entire 10 minutes making a milkshake (where the customer purchasing the milkshake demonstrated her frustration at how long it was taking to get her order). And the last worker walked to the back to not be seen again. I announced to the man that just made the milkshake that I would like my salad that has been sitting there, which is now 10 minutes past pick up time and he completely ignores me and proceeds to prep pick up orders for people that are not even there yet. I announced that it's now been over 10 minutes and my salad is just sitting there and I would like to receive it so that I can go. He finally grabs the salad and puts it in a bag. As I was standing there waiting for my salad, two other customers were complaining amongst each other about how long it was taking to get their very simple orders. I have been a loyal customer to this location for many years now and the customer service gets worse and worse overtime. The pizza was very good probably because they make very good bread. We had a side order of bacon. It was just ok. It was buy one get one free bread bowl so we had the other one to go. It was still good after we heated it up. It was in a plaza with whole food so it's a little busy but there's parking in the plaza. The decor is nice, kind of like Panera. They misunderstood that we wanted the bread bowl to go but they gave us a new one to take home (soup separated from the bread). Boudin SF has most definitely gone downhill, the customer service here has deplinished to practically nothing now. Management needs to come here and see how this place is being operated because it shouldn't take over 30 minutes for a simple small shake. I get it that they make items in order they are received but it still shouldn't take over 30 minutes to receive what you order. They seem to have plenty of staff on hand, but clearly management needs to step and get the current staff better trained. Other customers in the restaurant also had complained that they were waiting too long or missing items for their orders. Also, while the shakes here are good, the pricing for them is outrageous. $5.99 for tiny small shake is ridiculous, no matter how good it is. They need to rethink the pricing here for these. Don't think I will be returning here. The service and wait time just doesn't justify waiting 30 plus minutes for orders to be ready. Go to Panera Bread where the service is better and the prices are more reasonable. read more

I went to the Fremont location yesterday 5/25/25 with my autistic child. My child is a VERY picky eater and he loves the grilled cheese sandwich from Boudin. I was ordering by DoorDash for days but decided to see if I could replicate the sandwich at home. I came into the store yesterday to purchase the bread that they use. Two front counter young women was incredibly helpful when I asked how long does the bread last. They gave me options to keep it fresh longer. I really appreciated their help because feeding my autistic child is so hard and when he likes something it can be for a long period of time. Not a lot of vegan options here besides the loaf itself. I come here monthly to pick up a loaf through their rewards program. Their sourdough is world famous and has a distinct flavor that I love sharing with friends around the country when I visit. The service at this location has always been wonderful, the employees friendly. I wish I could actually dine in here sometime but there aren't many vegan options, not even with their salads unless you remove the meat and cheese but still have to pay full price. I have been here several times for dining in or taking out. Every time I have been here it's always been an enjoyable experience; staff has always been friendly, the wait is minimal, the location is clean and the ingredients are fresh. It's so nice that Boudin could be found in other cities besides San Francisco because sometimes it could be quite an adventure to go all the way to the City to get some sourdough bread. I just recently went and the line was super long and I was in a super rush. I thought about their app and placed an order for pick up through the app. It was the first time that I had done that and it was the best. I was able to place my order while I was in line and grab it from the pick up shelves super quick, like under 5 minutes quick. I felt like I had the golden ticket and was beating the system since the line had not advanced. Well done with the ease of placing an order on the app and everything else that makes this place wonderful. There is plenty of seating indoors and there is also outdoor seating. First time I went they ran out of bread bowls, and the sandwich I got pretty much only had 1 slice of meat in it. Second time, waited 20 minutes for a bread bowl. Went up to the counter to check on the order and was blatantly ignored before a staff gave me terrible attitude about the order having already been picked up. The staff reluctantly reissued the order without an apology or the slightest hint of smile. Eventually got my order and the sourdough was the most stale sourdough I've ever had. It was bone dry, rough, and tasteless. The clam chowder was also borderline tasteless. Service was incredibly slow despite a lot of staffs wandering around the place.
