THANK GOODNESS, all my son's food arrived as he was starving. However, my food wasn't as lucky. my soup was not included in our delivery. when I tried to call, they never answered. Left a message, no call back. Driver told me I put the address in wrong. I didnt. I checked. She may have.... but I have used that address to find this hotel 5 times today alone. Not my city. When I saw the sign while driving by this location I yelled, "We have to stop and get my bread!" Instead we ended up eating lunch there and I left with no bread because I forgot! I got their sandwich/soup combo. The clam chowder was mostly clean, but there were a few bites that helped polish my back teeth. It wasn't too salty and the consistency was good (not too watery). It also featured lots of clams! The Pesto Chicken Sandwich was a bit disappointing. Firstly, only half the sandwich had the "pesto" on it. And I put "pesto" because I don't know if it was pesto (the spread was white, not green). Also, the sauce only covered half the sandwich (and this half was tasty), so the other half was very dry. The bread was also a bit hard. And how does the bread taste? I think the Boudin's in SF is better. Maybe because you travel all that way and eat next to the pier and hear gawking seagulls while trying to avoid being pooped on? Maybe it's the water? The climate? When they made it? No idea! Parking - There's three dedicated spaces in front of the restaurant, otherwise you'll have to park in the lot next to it which isn't a far walk from the front door. We love going to Boudin in San Francisco, and were delightfully surprised to find one close to our hotel in Irvine. The chicken club had super crispy bacon, and very fresh avocado, it was just perfect. The sourdough bread bowl with chowder is always perfection. I like Boudin. I Doordash from them often and find that their half sandwich and soup situation to be a good deal. For $12.79 (I'm sure it's cheaper in person), you get a full sized soup and half sandwich. I always order the chili because it's substantial and a good bang for your buck. However, the half sandwich situation gets a little grainy. I've had the following: -chicken pesto: all natural chicken breast, tomatoes, arugula, pesto mayo, balsamic vinaigrette on sourdough bread -turkey avocado: turkey breast, smashed avocado, tomatoes, lettuce, mayo, seeds & grains bread -grilled cheese with bacon: applewood smoked bacon, Havarti & sharp cheddar cheese melted with a parmesan crusted sliced sourdough -toasted chicken club: chicken breast applewood smoked bacon, Swiss cheese, smashed avocados, tomatoes, lettuce, mayo, toasted on slice sourdough Sandwiches are meh. They're located off Jamboree / Main, down the street from SNA airport. They're the only Boudin opened during this Covid19 self containment in Orange County. I asked the manager why, and he said they have a bakery. Who knew? I assumed So Coast would have one, but no, this tiny Irvine location does. I came here around 4:45 on a Thursday, and found a parking spot in the front. There's only 4 spots, including a handicapped spot, but there is a sign that says parking in the structure available. I didn't have an online order, because I wanted to cash in on my "free" loyalty bread. I ended up buying another 1 pound loaf for $4 and change so I can have 1 loaf for home, and 1 for work. Although they are a "chain" the food here does not seem "mass produced" and is, in fact all freshly prepared, including, of course, their standout item: the sourdough bread. Their menu has a nice variety of sandwiches, soups and salads. I had the Turkey Cranberry, which was fresh sliced turkey with cranberry sauce, red onion, lettuce, mayo on sliced sourdough. Both the clam chowder and "rustic" tomato soup were very good. The best part is eating the soup soaked bowl as you go along! Service was friendly and professional. Craving sourdough so placed a to-go order for a clam chowder bread bowl. (Order directly through their website since there's no mark-up.) When I walked in around lunchtime on a weekday, there was a line several people deep at the register but my order was already waiting for me on their order pick-up shelf to the left. (Love mobile ordering!) The soup was nice and hot and packaged separately from the bread bowl, which was wrapped in a plastic bag. It also came with a few mini tubs of butter and plasticware and napkins, which was great. I immediately unwrapped the bread bowl so it wouldn't get soggy since I really enjoy a more crisp exterior. Toasting it in the toaster oven for a couple minutes brings the exterior right back to crispness. The clam chowder itself was just all right... tasted a bit heavy on the potato. Boudins is pretty consistent with their food, which is the real winner. The cheddar broccoli and clam chowder with their signature bread bowl is our go to. Next their Cobb salad, plentiful and delicious. Tried their regular French dip today, it was boring. Definitely spring for the deluxe if you're going to do the beef dip. Minus one star for the lack of towels in the bathroom and the bathroom was less than clean. Minus another star for the customer service at the front. Update to my previous review, the manager reached out and mailed a gift card for $15, which was enough to cover most of a new meal to try again. However, the gift card doesn't seem to work for online orders, and I'm not even sure how to get the value of it out towards a meal. Since I live like a block away, I wanted to order from them again to see if there was any improvement. My husband ordered the BLTA, which looked amazing and was loaded with bacon. I decided to try half a grilled cheese with bacon and half a tomato soup. I think I've learned my lesson now on what to order here - anything except warm sandwiches. The grilled cheese was two pieces of toast with cheese and a slice of loose bacon in the middle - nothing was melted together. Cold sandwiches seem fine, and the soup was great, but anything melted or cooked has not worked out so far. She's kind of a PITA when it comes to ordering - she asked to taste three of the soups, she wanted to taste the salad dressings ("I hate when there's too much ginger"), she queried then mercilessly about the ingredients of the salads, she told them how much she hated goat cheese and cilantro, and (eventually) she ordered the exact same thing as me - clam chowder in a bread bowl and an Asian chicken salad...no cilantro. Luckily, the young guys were there were so nice, so friendly, and somehow evidently used to antics like my mom's. We got our food fast, the clam chowder was delicious as always, the bread bowl was ginormous and tasty, the salad was fresh and light (but could have used a few more pieces of chicken) and the salad dressing did not, in fact, have too much ginger. The grilled cheese is legit it's not your average American cheese kids grilled cheese. And they have really yummy tropical unsweetened iced tea which is my fav. We visited Boudin and we each got a half sandwich and half salad. It was the perfect size for me! I had the cesar salad and grilled cheese with bacon. The cesar salad is really good and love the parmesan it has, the lettuce was fresh and crunch and not too cold. The sandwich was also delicious, the bread was soft yet crunchy and the cheese was perfectly melted and the bacon was super crunchy which I love! The Quin-wow is a great side too, it was very light and the dressing was delicious. We ate in there and the booths have acrylic separations and some of their tables are still closes to enforce social distancing. Great lunch time option for a good meal. read more

Honestly the food here is good, but the service sucks. We ordered for pick-up online and arrived on time to grab our order. However, the parking here is scarce so finding a spot took us awhile. Once we approached the front door, it was locked. The staff stood there and just stared at us like idiots. Nobody came to open the door for us. It turns out that the only door that was open is the backdoor to the far corner of the restaurant, which is the exit. Why did they not put up a sign to use the other door and why did the staff not point that out to us instead of staring at us? It was rude and unprofessional. We will NOT be coming back here again. A young lady with glasses (I assume a shift manager) was very visibly upset and berating other employees loudly as they went about their work.
