The amount in my soup bowl was less than in the side soup and sandwich combo my friend had. It's not a big deal, but if you want more soup I suggest forgoing the extra calories from the bread bowl or getting the sandwich and soup combo. read more

Glad I tried Boudin, but my take away message is: unless you're a lover of sandwiches/salads/soups, this place isn't a special chain. Came here for late lunch around 2PM with my Mom, and we shared a $11 lunch for two people! We shared their seasonal grilled cheese baked brie and fig jam with the included mixed greens salad in the entree. I also added a bowl of clam chowder for an extra $2, sans loaf. The grilled cheese sandwiches are a great hot sandwich selection, but my baked brie was too oily and the fig jam was delicious in the first few bites, but was WAY too sweet later on. They have an acceptable amount of vegetarian options, but nothing that screamed out at me. In all, the experience was quick and simple--there is no table service, but self-order with the cashier upon entering (self-explanatory) and grabbing a table either indoors or outside on the patio. A food runner will bring your meal out to your table and a busser cleans it after you're done. On a weekend lunch, the place was packed and families were standing around waiting for tables to open up. I loved my experience at Boudin's today because the associate Noah helped me. Being it's a pandemic, it's rare I venture out and go into the restaurant to pick up. Today is 4th of July and instead of being in a rush, Noah took his time and explained the menu to me. He spoke very patiently and offered options. I loved how sincere his service was. He reminded me I had a free loaf also! I hope his manager reads this and commends him for his great service. This place is inconsistent. Last week I had a Tuna Melt that was a 10/10. One of the best Tuna Melts I've ever had (& tuna melts are one of my favorites, so I've had a lot of them). Today I had one that was a 5/10 at best. The tuna was wet, the bread was oily like it had been placed on a griddle that wasn't hot enough, and it contained 2 little slices of tomato, each the size of a quarter. If I had had this sandwich a week ago, I would not have been back today. I'll probably give them 1 more chance in the future just because of how good the first sandwich was. I was so happy to hear that a Boudin opened near my neighborhood! I usually go to the one on Steven's Creek, but this one is really convenient. I always order the sourdough bread bowl with tomato soup. It never disappoints and tastes divine. The tomato soup is not overly creamy and has a nice tomato flavor that is seasoned with herbs. I love the croutons and cheese on the top. I think that's my favorite part. The bread bowl itself is delicious, and I usually leave it hollowed out after I'm done with my soup. The sandwiches are good but I prefer the soup bread bowl. I find the bread too hard and crunchy on the sandwiches. I recommend Boudin SF for their soup bread bowls! I've been going to this Boudin for more than 2 years and always enjoy coming here. I mostly do takeout, but have dined in several times. I usually order the Best of Boudin Combo with a caesar salad or tomato soup (the tomato soup is a must!). I used to get the grilled brie with apples and fig jam, but had to stop eating it so much because of the calories :P Other sandwiches I enjoy are the ham and brie on focaccia and the turkey havarti. Service is usually fast and friendly. It's pretty darn fast when you order to go and it's only slightly busy. The loyalty program is pretty cool and you get a free cookie during your birthday month! Rewards are easy to get and sometimes there's a survey you can fill out on your receipt to get $3 off your next purchase. Don't forget your free monthly bread too! The only downside with this location is the cleanliness of the booths and tables. There's always breadcrumbs on the floor and soup stains on the tables. Came in for the 1st time the other night. As we walked in we saw some huge bread baking machines behind the glass. Being the gear head that I am I was saddened that they were not running when we came in. The set up of this place is beautifully orchestrated and is warm and inviting. At the front counter there are many types of French breads that you can order to go. They serve soups, salads and sandwiches as well as hamburgers. My wife and I both opted for the French dip. they give us 2 huge sandwichs with plenty dipping sauce and "I believe" homemade horseradish. Our sandwiches came with arugula salad. The salad dressing was fantastic. The employees are great, asked us how we like their sandwiches (more than twice) and all had Smiles on their faces. They have fresh-brewed iced tea here also. The Inside of the restaurant was clean and well-kept all the tables were busted and nice and shiny. The floors are also nice and clean. Worker's are completely uncaring, rude, and on numerous occasions I've seen and experienced being completely ignored by staff. We used the 'buy one salad get the second one free' coupon (saved us some moneyssss) and we ordered the BBQ chicken salad and the Italian Cobb salad. Completely different in taste, but certainly flavorful salads. The portions are hugeeeee, I needed a to go box to bring back half of the salad. It made me happy to see a new Boudin opening so close to us; a friend and I decided to check out the lunch offerings on Friday. The parking lot was pretty full, there was a short line in front of us around noon and most of the seats were taken. The place is bright, clean and of course brand new, there was a certain excitement in the air. We both ordered the wild salmon kale salad ($11.20 w/ tax) which was one of the 3 new salmon dishes they were testing. The food came quickly in a large bowl filled with colorful salad and a piece of salmon on top. I didn't get the roll and butter like my friend did; after inquiring about it they apologized and brought it over promptly. The kale salad was very enjoyable with a mix of kale, romaine, cucumber, orange, sweet pepper and etc. The dressing was light but slightly too sweet for my taste. The salmon to my disappoint was cold and not very flavorful. Overall it was still good value, we took home quite a bit of the salad and it was good the next day. The service staff was extremely friendly and eager to find out how we felt. We were checked on by at least 4 different people some multiple times. This was understandable, we didn't mind at all. I usually love eating here but this one morning I came in and the lady who assisted me was rude and cranky. All I did was ask for my free bread I get every month and she said in a snarky tone, "I need your phone number for that". I was going to give it to her but she could have asked nicely.
