Came here with three friends on a Monday evening (reservations were made in advance as they are typically booked during peak dinner hours). Upon entering the restaurant, you're transported into another world. The holiday decor is on point, the staff members are there to make sure you have a great experience, and bar is lit up and ready for your order. Staff and Service: - Our waiter's name is James and he was fantastic. He answered questions we had well, provided recommendations and was honest with his thoughts, was very personable, and was incredibly kind. - You can head to the bar while you wait for your table and someone will come get you to take you to your seat Food and Drinks: - We were presented with a starter on the house. It was a play on a spinach artichoke dip and it was delicious. Served In a tall shot glass-like glass - I'm not sure if it's due to the holiday season other standard, but the menu was a pre fix menu, where you choose a starter, main, and dessert - Maryland Blue Crab Salad: simple yet elegant. Very tasty (positive feedback from my friend who is from Maryland). A good amount of crab without being overpowering - Ahi Tuna Carpaccio: flavorful with some citrus bites, and a good amount of tuna cut thin. - Uni Pasta: comes with albacore and a good size serving - Filet of Beef: (does cost $8 on top of the pre fix menu price). Flavorful (has a sort of olive sauce on top) and done well with the broccolini and the potato stack on the side - Pork Chop: what Boulevard is known for. Two of my friends ordered this and enjoyed every bite. - Yuzu Cheesecake and Orange Julius Shooter: SUCH a good dessert. I was told it was a hit for a heavy dessert and would be easy to share. I did share, but I had no problem finishing this plate off clean. Every aspect of the dessert had a role in the overall flavor. From the orange slices to the cream to the shooter on the side, this citrusy dessert was such a delight. - Drinks: we ordered a variety of cocktails, which were all done excellently. My callout is the B for Boulevard on the ice cubes (such a cool touch). I also love their desserts, they tend to have crème brûlée which is my favorite, so that always makes me happy! It is a pricey establishment, so come to enjoy the food! It's best for special occasions and for groups, as there is a set price for your meal with optional add ons. The drinks are also nice, but definitely tend to be spirit forward. There aren't as many fruity or sweet drinks as some might like, me included, but the food makes up for it! It is also a very aesthetic restaurant, boasting dark colors and a seductive and sexy vibe. It is holiday festive celebration. Where do you go? Boulevard. We sat where all the food comes out. It is prixe fix. You get a choice of starters, entree, and dessert. My salad was my favorite. I think they use organic veggies so everything tasted fresh. Hen breast was a bit dry, but we are talking breast. The variety of bread was so good. Stick with the end of sourdough. Very crunchy. The dessert was ok. My dinner mate and I doggie bag our entree since we were full. Guess what? The bags got mixed up and I ended up with the delicious melt in your mouth beef. I love all the decorations and every staff wore a beautiful shinny pin. Thank you Boulevard for putting these tiny little touches to make the dinner special. Friday after work before catching the ferry I wanted to treat myself to a nice meal. Boulevard was on my list - it had been over 20 years since I had a meal there and walk by it when I go to work. I ordered lamb medium well but it came pretty pink and raw minus the outside part. I started to eat around on the edge - I was tired and hungry. I then paused to wait for someone because for the price of the lamb and me treating myself I deserve what I ordered and how I requested it. The waitress sent it back to cook longer but instead I got one new lamb piece cooked to Perfection but not the other piece. She stated the chef said I ate most of it but really I picked around the edges because I don't like raw meat. I was too tired to dispute further and then thought about it on my ride home. For $78 for two pieces of lamb I should have got both pieces cooked perfectly how I requested. While wait staff was kind and helpful I should have spoke to a manager and got what I ordered for the price I paid. While the wait staff was so kind and even gifted me a desert they should have given me my two pieces of lamb cooked the way I requested versus one despite the chefs comment. read more

I have to say, this was one of the best restaurants I have ever dined at. The food was REALLY good, and the service was over the top; thank you Madeleine for making our experience an awesome one. Don't even bother trying to come here without a reservation. We saw a few get turned away even at 8:30pm. From my understanding, the main dining room only offers the 3-course experience, and if you want to do a la carte, you have to do that at the bar area. My recommendation is to do the 3-course meal bc you're going to end up ordering a starter, entrée and dessert anyway. I have to say for a 3-course option, there's plenty of options (like 5-6 in each category). Usually when I do these coursed out meals, they only offer 2-3 different items per category. Corkage is $50 which is high but expected for such a nice establishment; you will want to bring a really good bottle of wine anyway bc it pairs nicely with the good quality, high-end food offered. The ambiance is cool; you can easily go for a family night, a girl's night, a couple's night, whatever night. We took an uber so we didn't have to park, but I know that area has a few garages that would be useful. read more

We've had 4-5 star across the board experiences here for 20+ years. Tonight however was a 3. The ambiance and service were superb...but the food was average. And I am not a fan of prix fixe. We were 2 teens who don't drink alcohol and 2 adults. Great bread and butter. But the appetizers were small. The main ingredients were scarce. 1 sea scallop and 2 slivers of oxtail? Was there escargot among the small potato wedges? Barely any crab amid the leafy greens. The mains were also small. The filet was too red. The sea bass lacked seasoning. It seemed all the mains were under salted. The desserts were solid. Very good quality. We especially liked the cheesecake. And cheeses with focaccia and honeycomb, combing nicely for contrasting flavors and textures. The bill was $715. We tipped $200. Wonderful staff and establishment. Awesome locale. We will be back. We expect it to be the 4-5 experience we've had until now. At this price, it needs to be better than a 3...emphasis on portions. I'm not asking for super sizing, but this was not adequate. read more

We had a butter lettuce salad and a crudo dish to start. These were the best part of the meal. We each had halibut as the entree. It was bland and poorly spiced. I am a little biased about this restaurant because I worked there for a couple years when they first opened at that time and now I still consider it on the best restaurants in town with everything being great on the menu I recently went and had a really good dinner and time there, and catching up with the Waitstaff about what has happened in the life of the restaurant Service has changed a little bit. There is no longer an à la carte menu in the dining room. Everything is prefix so it makes it easier as far as ordering you have a first course a main course and the dessert. I usually go with fish when I go to restaurants because I don't eat that fish much at home because of quality and Freshness. This place has a very aesthetic and cute interior. It's perfect for a date night or special occasion. If you sit in the dining room, you have to order their prefix menu, but if you sit in the lounge/bar area, then you can order à la cart. I came on a Tuesday at 7 PM and it was packed. I highly recommend making a reservation, especially during dinner hours. The service is what you would expect for fine dining. The staff are very attentive and helpful when answering questions on the menu. Our server recommended the Seabass and pork chops. The Seabass melted in your mouth, but could use a little more flavor with the sauce or other ingredients. However, I would still recommend. The pork chops were excellent as well. Some of the slices of meat were a little fatty towards the end of the cut, but the sauce that they put on it was very flavorful. The pink lady gem salad was very refreshing, and the tortellini starter was a small portion. However, this was the perfect size, even though it was small because the rest of the meal really filled you up. I would rather have smaller portions of high-quality food rather than giant portions of average or low quality food. For dessert, I had the strawberry Yuzu sundae, in the tres Leche. Me and my friend both likes the strawberry sundae more since there were fresh strawberries, and sauce at the bottom that made it very creamy and flavorful. At the end of the meals, the server brought out two cookies to end the night with. Overall, I would highly recommend this place for a date night or special occasion. If you want a fine dining experience with innovative flavors, you must come to Boulevard. This is one of my top restaurants when in the bay area. I got the tuna carpaccio, quail, cheese plate, a half bottle of wine, and a cocktail. Everything on the menu is indulgent and the service is impeccable. They recently changed over to a rotating set 3 course meal. The portions are perfect, and I would go so far as to say that I could randomly choose any dish and I would be satiated. We arrived for an early dinner at the bar at the strike of 5:01. From the moment we were greeted the experience was wonderful. Sophie at the bar paced each course, and did not rush. It was also clear that the staff is a team that worked together to provide guests with an overall positive experience. So the food - my favorite- yes is the asparagus tempura appetizer. Simple, yet so great. There was not a miss in our order. We wanted to order dessert, but way too full. I also want to call out the non-alcoholic cocktail selections. First thing you'll notice is that the interior is beautiful! Great date spot :) Our waitress explained the menu to us and constantly checked up on how we were doing, great service overall. Our waitress told us the menu changes everyday and gave us recommendations. My friends and I got the pre fix menu - it starts at $119 per person. It comes with a starter, main dish, and cheeses or dessert. I ordered the violin squash & ricotta double ravioli as my starter and the flavor was superb. The little walnuts gave it a nice crunch to pair with the smooth ravioli. For my main I got the angus beef filet and it was cooked a perfect medium rare. The crispy potato orbs were delicious as well. I went for the devil's seven layer cake for my dessert and it was the best chocolate cake I've had. Boulevard was a beautiful and elegant restaurant. I enjoyed their unique options for starters, entrees, and dessert. I opted for 2 starters instead for an extra upcharge. Throughout the night, there is also bread and butter service. I was plenty full before I even got to my entree which was a sea bass. Pictured are only the starters I shared with my partner. The starters knocked it out of the park, but I felt the sea bass was pretty bland. Another party in my group had a banana chocolate dessert including just parts of a raw banana. Some parts of the course were stellar, but definitely felt like some other dishes did not shine or were elevated enough for this restaurant. There were multiple times that the seating also posed an issue as well, with a server tripping and dropping some food, and myself not being able to squeeze between my own group and another on both sides. The restaurant may want to reconsider the furniture arrangement in light of this issue, and for reference I am 120lbs. Overall, some dishes were great, but did not match the $125 base prix fixed menu price ask. read more

Early dinner post-Christmas, party of four. Seated upon arrival, menus brought. We ordered sparkling water while looking over the menu and after a few questions (dietary restrictions), we ordered cocktails. The Cape Merry was tasty, and the gruener veltliner, refreshing. The three-course menu is the only option in the dining room; you can order ala carte at the bar. Before the first course arrived, we were presented with an amuse bouche, consisting of endive, a lightly fried veggie chip in a dollop of a vegetal green mousse (forgot what it was). It was ok, but nothing special. Bread service followed, also ok. Our first course appetizers were the goat cheese amandine, the burrata with beets, and the guinea hen ravioli. The warm, breaded goat cheese was balanced by the sharpness of the arugula and radicchio. The burrata and beets salad and the 3 guinea hen ravioli with winter truffle and caramel-date sauce were both fine. We went with the sommelier's recommendation for wines by the glass. The Dehlinger chardonnay and the french chablis went well with our entrees: the sea bass, the halibut and the pork chop. I chose the "Arctic Shelf"sea bass (After attempting to find info online about an "arctic shelf" sea bass and finding no such fish in the Arctic, I asked our server. She said it was a "joke" by the chef?!). The mystery seabass was perfectly cooked, moist and flavorful (I particularly enjoyed the accompanying chanterelles). We also had the northern halibut (also perfectly cooked), and the large, juicy Berkshire pork chop. For our dessert course we chose the rose apple profiterole w/vanilla ice cream, the sticky toffee pudding, the yuzu lemon cheesecake and the affogato with salted caramel ice cream (and a very good cannoli). As with the mains, everything was good, and we enjoyed our choices. After clearing dessert plates, our server brought a small plate of mignardise (ours were quarter-sized chocolate-coated disks with burgundy-colored dragees on top). The dining room had a softly lit, cozy ambiance, the service was professional yet friendly, the courses came out in good order. I felt the amuse bouche and appetizers were the weakest part of the meal. Entrees were cooked perfectly, desserts were fine, yet nothing was particularly memorable. Boulevard is a shadow of its former self - well know Michelin 1 Star. My wife and I ate here this past Saturday for her birthday. The interior is has beautiful bones but could use a facelift when compared to other restaurants at this price point. We had appetizers (a tomato salad and ahi tuna) both were overwhelming average. We preferred the salad over the tuna. For our main course we ordered Seabass. It had no flavor and was very fishy. But this time we knew to skip dessert. All this for $250. The food is 10/10. That much is clear from the other reviews. But I'm here to talk about the bar. First of all, the bar itself is made of blue onyx, which makes for an elegant and unique experience right when you sit down, but even more priceless and special than the bar itself are the bartenders. They are friendly, amazing at pouring drinks, and have impeccable taste. The bartenders here make one of the best martinis in the city - the ODB martini which is made with olive oil washed gin. Now, I am mostly a vodka person but because I trust the bartenders here, I let them pour the gin and damn if it isn't fantastic. This bar is close to my office and it's sort of our local Cheers. Whether you are stopping in after a bad day to get totally soused, or whether you just want a single perfect drink and some dessert, Boulevard and its excellent bartenders, always deliver. There is also always a friendly crowd -- good mix of local businessfolk and residents and chill out of towners who want to see what the fuss is all about. The ambiance of this restaurant was cozy and very prohibition-era feeling. We were very pleased with the flavors and portions of each dish. Desiree shared her recommendations and she DID NOT MISS. Not only did we leave feeling full, we were beyond satiated. Since we were not able to make reservations, we opted for the main dining room; pre-fixe menu was mandatory for the dining area. Luckily, they were able to accommodate six people. The hostess (I forgot her name) was so patient and left a memorable impression. Boulevard was our special dining location during our recent trip to San Francisco, and we had a wonderful time. Service here was superb. We noted that we were celebrating an anniversary for our dinner, and the maitre'd congratulated us upon checkin and thanked us for spending our anniversary with them. In addition, they left a lovely card autographed by the staff for us at our table. Cocktails are excellent, including the house speciality, the classic Boulevardier, and the Vieux Carre. Their wine menu is extensive, as one would expect, and had many French selections, including a runway of Chateauneuf-du-Papes. As we were splurging I opted for a 2008 Domaine de la Janasse Viellies Vignes, which was excellent. Our food was excellent. I began with an abalone appetizer which was great, but consisted mostly of mushrooms noodles and calamari. Only one sample of abalone - I would have preferred more. For dinner we both landed with the filet, rare, was delicious. It was accompanied by a mushroom souffle, which was divine and something I had never encountered before. It was at once light and ethereal from the souffle with rich earthy notes from the mushrooms. A pure delight. Desserts were extravagant - I had a multi-faceted chocolate offering which was superb. A word of warning - do not get the pork chop. It was dry. The only drawbacks were that I was hoping for something more exotic on the menu, like venison or pheasant or bison. There were no foie gras options, either. Additionally, our wine had a good deal of sediment (which is always a good sign), but the sommelier was not equipped with a strainer when decanting the wine - and of course, the wine at the bottom with the sediment is the richest of the bottle. As a result I self filtered to achieve full oenophilic enjoyment. The decor here is maximalist in dark blue and green hues, with luxurious velvet chairs in which to enjoy your delicious, spendy dinner. We'd return when we make it back to the Bay. read more

Haven't been here in a long time. I thought I had made a reservation on Open Table for our party of 5 but I must have neglected to complete the process. When we got there they said they did not have a reservation for us and they were completely booked of course as it was a Saturday night. But they were able to get us a table in the bar area.
