Not my favorite place to dine! Yesterday was my first time giving it a go but I wasn't impressed. On Yelp it said they serve brunch til 2pm and we got there around 1pm, they were no longer searching brunch. We had a party of 9 but due to COVID restrictions we had to sit at two separate tables. Our tables ordered a variety of food, I'll start with the carne asada fries. I wish I would've took a picture of them, they looked nothing like carne asada and tasted a lot worse then they looked. The mac n cheese was good but we had to order it plain because it comes with a lot of extras in it that we weren't into. I ordered the Cali burger which was decent. A couple people in our party ordered the fish and chips and both complained that it's lacking flavor and pretty soggy in the middle. Their service was definitely lacking. We ordered a plain kids burger (which was one of the first things we ordered, just the meat and the bun) we asked for them to add ketchup on it but they said they can only put the ketchup on the side and not actually in the burger. Well, the kids burger never came out, we asked the server twice she said they're working on it, eventually one of us had to walk inside and bring it out ourselves from the kitchen staff who said it's been ready for a while. Finally got to try this highly rated restaurant in Covina. It's a little hyped up but the food is really tasty here, the highlight being the burger, meat was great. I ordered the fish too and was quite surprised at the size of the piece of fish. I recommend getting a house salad instead of fries it was really good. Came here the other day for some lunch cuz I was hungry for a good burg and wanted to try something new and I've had this place bookmarked for awhile. It was a Sunday around noon and I was a little worried that it might be packed because I saw this place offered brunch but it was really chill, and we didn't have to wait at all to be seated. Our server was really sweet and smiley what was nice and the venue itself has a dope vibe. Now the menu, oh ballz was their a great selection of shit to pick from but a last we could only fit so much in our bellies that day. We ended up getting the carne asada that had this fire green sauce and some cheesy ass goodness on it. Then we each got a burger. My friend got the Puck Bacon Burger and I got the El Toro Burger. Brrruuuhhhh the burger El Toro Burger doe, I would fucking bathe in that habanero jam that's on their if it wouldn't burn my lady bits it was so good. I tried the Puck Burger and it was great, evenly cooked and has bacon and all but ooooooh the El Toro Burger had me feeling a certain type away. For sure imma have to go back so I can have that shit inside me again. I feel bad because I had such a good experience that if they fuck up on anything I'll know. From what I can review the happy hour asada tacos are definitely on my top of the list for flavor. These are not your average "tacos" these are great high end tacos. Came out her for lunch on a Monday. Walked in and grabbed a seat. Our server/bartender was Eddie and he was very helpful. He gave recommendations when asked and explained why he liked one over the other when it came to food items. They also have a nice beer selection that Eddie was also very knowledgable about and gave his suggestions. Once situated we looked over the menu and placed our order. Abnormal - is the IPA I believe I had. It was a nice crisp IPA with some kick but smooth and nice hints of sweetness. It was a nice beer to start off the food extravaganza. Carne Asada Fries - House Cut fries, diced asada, pickled jalapeños, red onions, micro cilantro, peperjack fondue, avocado and creme. These were amazing! each bite had a little bit of everything and meet was cooked perfectly and was tender and juicy. Shrimp Po'Boy - Panko Shrimp, remoulade, tomatoes, pickles, shredded romaine on a french bread. It was really good. My wife really enjoyed it. She actually brought half home for later and it was just as good as when she ordered it. She enjoyed the flavors and the shrimp was cooked perfectly with a nice crunch to them. A must try if you enjoy po'Boys. Puck Bacon Burger - Onion rings, Gorgonzola cheese, bacon, balsamic BBQ sauce on a brioche bun. This was a very good burger. Meat cooked medium with a nice pink color in the middle. The onion ring had a nice batter to it with a good crunch. The Bacon was nice and crispy and the cheese just brought everything together. It was a very nice burger and came wth some fries that were also cooked perfectly and well seasoned. If you are in the area and want a nice cold beer and some good food you should definitely give this place a try. You will not be disappointed. read more

This is place is alright. We went for a late night bite to eat. It's self seating. Service was pretty slow, waters came after we got the food. The bread and barley burger was so so. You get a side of fries and a pickle as well, but for $13 I don't know if it's worth it. My wife got the shrimp po' boy with fries as well, but the bread was hard as hell, probably over toasted. The kitchen closes an hour before closing I guess. Server also took forever just to get a to go box and near closing hours, place was only like 30% packed. So, this review is a little late, but hopefully helpful to you. I found this little pub on Yelp and discovered that I had actually drove past it many times and never noticed. It's in the little downtown area of Covina and can be easily missed. We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon, between the lunch and dinner crowds; the industrial décor is very cool and the service was great. I'm not a beer connoisseur, however we tasted several different brews and I settled in on two that I really liked. I'm guessing that there were at least 20 plus on tap. My one negative comment is that the beer ran between $8-$9 and I don't believe they were full pint size glasses. For the non beer lover, that might be a little pricey. Now, what I really enjoyed and highly recommend is the food. We ordered fish tacos, bacon mac-n-cheese with Brussels sprouts, the Bread & Barley burger with fries...it was all over-the-top delicious! Other tables around us ordered different menu items and they all looked and smelled fantastic. I can't wait to try everything they offer on the menu. I have seen this place so many, many times and gone somewhere else over the last several years (only beer and wine, no hard liquor, what can I say, I'm a lush!). I am now kicking myself for not coming sooner! We started with the house made chips (hate to say, but just ok) and fried Brussels which were AMAZING! Big meaty pieces of pancetta with a perfectly balanced combination of nuts and balsamic over the deliciously fried Brussels sprouts. Okay, I ordered the Nashville hot chicken sandwich and my friend had fish and chips. His fish was light and delightful. My Nashville hot chicken was hot! It surprised me with the spice, but thankfully I had a nice beer to cool down my palate. He had the fries (fish and chips) and I had the sweet potato tots. The fries were good, but the tots were the real winner. They were crispy and then melted into soft delicious sweet potato-ness. (Is that a word? It is now!) The service was also excellent. We had such an awesome time, we've been back many times since. The Food - Babe Burger ("complicated" but oh so good) Mushrooms, caramelized onions, poached pear, and truffle aioli. OMG this is one of the BEST burgers I've ever had.. Fried Brussels Normally Brussel sprouts are okay... But these are AMAZING!!! You can order it as an appetizer or as your side. Great flavor! House Made Chips with Gorgonzola and Balsamic Glaze OMG OMG these are soo amazing. The house chips are great on their own, and when you add the Gorgonzola and balsamic, it's TO DIE for! The balsamic has a smokey flavor that is heavenly. Sweet Potato Tots On point! Crispy and light. Yums. Beet and Hanger Steak Salad This is a yummy light salad with baby greens, goat cheese, hanger steak and beet reduction. Steak Sandwich Steak, gruyere cheese, chimichurri on sourdough is very tasty. Lomo Saltado Philly Cheese Lomo Saltado is a Peruvian Beef stir fry with fries on a baguette, yummy but very messy. Carne Asada Fries We were expecting a little more from these fries. They were good, but not something we'd order again. Portobello Fries These weren't my favorite. I didn't really like the thick breading and it tasted really heavy. Maybe the oil wasn't hot enough at the time? Beers - I'm not a big beer person so I wouldn't be able to comment much, but all the beers are craft and are rotated with new ones all the time. The one I do drink is the Van Diest strawberry beer (#6). This is soo delish, I hope they never stop serving it. The atmosphere here is so relaxed and chill. I love the exposed brick and super high ceilings. There are many tables and high tops to choose from. We've always had great service here. Shout out to Damian!! I'd love this place more if they weren't constantly out of things. The last 4 times I've been, they have been out of their brussel sprouts--which are amazing and my favorite thing on the menu. I imagine other people must love them too, but it seems like a bad strategy to constantly be out of something that's easy to get and is a permanent menu item (it's in the appetizer section, the side dish section, and is the pre-set side dish for a few entrees). I ordered the English PUB burger and substituted a salad since I was already getting carne asada fries but he must have misheard me bc I what I got was a completely different burger. He never repeated my order back to me which is good practice for servers and would prevent something like this happening again. When I got to the restaurant to pick up my order I was going to look through it to double check but against my better judgment as I started to unbox everything the bartender gave me a weird look so I just let it go. It would have been at least ok if the burger I had gotten wasn't med well instead of med rare like I asked for. Carne asada fries were decent though. Would've been two stars maybe 3 but I specifically asked for a pickle and of course I get home and there no pickle either. Won't be coming back again. Also, I tipped $2 for my to go order. Have only come here for brunch, but it is really great every time! I always get the same thing, the Penny Lane bowl (breakfast bowl with hashbrowns, egg, meat, etc..) which is super great. We also always get bottomless mimosas. My party loves that its self-serve (with a time limit of course) so that we can control the ratios the way we'd each prefer them. They also provide several juices for the table: orange, pineapple, and cranberry, which are good for mixing. Great brunch spot! read more

I was super excited try this new place especially because it's one of my friends favorites place. I was so bummed like when you're having sunflower seeds and get a really bad one. They had a great selection of beer and some good wine, but that's honestly why they're getting a 2 or else they would've got a 1. I hate to complain about the service but it was pretty bad. Our server never came around to ask us if we wanted another drink or refilled our water after dropping it off initially. The worst part for me was the fact that she kept checking up on the table behind us which seemed like it was her friends. I'm far from high maintenance and honestly just need the minimum, but I don't feel like I got that. This one was not the servers fault, but our food took a while to get there. We've been here several times. The food and drinks have always been very good, but the service spotty. The most recent time was about 6:30 on a Sunday evening, for food and drinks. The recorded music was too loud to carry on a conversation, so we asked for them to turn it down. They did for about 15 minutes, then another employee turned it back up. We finished quickly and left, without purchasing another round of drinks. Let me reiterate, we were there on a Sunday evening. We would not expect quiet on a Friday or Saturday, but don't feel unreasonable in wanting to have a conversation on a Sunday. May be our last time. read more
