With its reputation of running out of the breads before noon due to popular demand, we arrived at the store before10AM (trying to avoid the disappointment of going home empty handed). The small bakery is located on the corner of PCH and Avenue E, inside it is clean and with seating for 15 people. There are also 4 tables outside. We ordered Curry, Matcha and Edamame MOU cube breads, and Pineapple and Coconut Brioche. All 3 petite cubic breads were super fresh with soft crust, and silky crumb. The curry filling was savory and quite flavorful. The matcha filling had red beans and lightly sweet. The Edamame was the most plain of 3 but still quite good. The Coconut and Pineapple Brioche had a nice crust, and the filling on top had pieces of pineapple. Not too sweet and quite delightful. The only deterring factor preventing my more frequent visits is the prices which were on the high side. Still, I will visit the store often, maybe not as often as I would like. read more

Disappointing experience and terrible customer service. This is the second time they took my money for the Mahi-Mahi Panini only to inform me later they were out of it. When I swapped for salmon--which costs $3.50 less--they refused to cover the difference with a latte because it cost a few dollars more, offering me plain bread instead. I spent ten extra minutes trying to resolve their inventory mistake, and they wouldn't even let me speak with a manager on the phone. Very cheap and frustrating. Would not recommend. read more

They have some new flavors to bring to the table! I really like that the Japanese community have a place to come to eat and chat/mingle. I would definitely come back and try one of their soup bowls. The parking is a little tricky, I parked in back just slightly up the hill but I'm not honestly sure if that is part of their parking, but it was about 10am and not very busy so I think I got lucky with parking. Their melon pan was good, I'd just do without the sugar on top as I'm not a huge fan of turbunado sugar on anything. The Hojicha cream pan was delicious! The service was awesome. The food was great and delicious, we had the smoked salmon panini made perfect and crispy. The smoked salmon was flavored and not too salty. The raspberry desert and the Nutella one was delicious. The only thing I didn't like and couldn't drink it was the dirty chai coffee. They put the chai and all the spices in the coffee (see photo) and I couldn't drink it without feeling like I was eating hay with each sip. That is just way too much to swallow, literally. We asked what's the difference between dirty chai and regular chai and she said espresso, but I didn't know I was gonna get a bunch of specs of the spices each time I took a drink that was not pleasant. Overall, everything was delicious. Everything was good. But get there early everything was pretty much sold out by 2:00pm. I would've loved to enjoy my dirty chai coffee, but I'll know better not to ask for that and ask for the regular chai. I wanted the espresso so that's why I chose the dirty chai giving the definition of the difference. There are so many things I want to try here so we will be back since sold out of practically everything. We hope they make it and make more locations closer to us and have more available after the lunch crowd. read more

Been wanting to check out this bakery and finally made my way over last week. Got there around 11am and everything was sold out! Well almost everything. Apparently their machines were down for the day so they weren't able to bake much. They did have some bread left so I tried the matcha pan and chocolate pan. Bread was soft on the since but the salt on top didn't do much for it. Their iced americano was really good though! There's some inside seating as well as outside. A cute little cafe to eat or have coffee. Seems like street parking only (at least that's what I did). Service was nice they did tell me about the machines issue. I ordered the ginger pork sandwich. The bread itself is excellent. Nice and crunchy on the outside, while soft on the inside. But as a sandwich, it was disappointing. The ginger pork comes out cold, which was a surprise. Since the bread was nicely toasted, the sandwich would have been much better if the protein was also warm. The portion size was also tiny for the price. The sandwich looked to be a kid sized meal. And there was barely any pork inside it. There was multiple bites where I was just eating bread. This Space is very industrial, but still very welcoming. It's Location right off PCH puts it right in a busy area in Redondo. I was greeted when coming in , and selected a Chocolate Mou and then ordered a Matcha Latte and Classic Drip. Matcha Latte was very grassy and good quality , I had it sweetened with Vanilla Syrup and it was really good Classic Drip was full bodied and good. Bread, Espresso & is a bakery imported from Tokyo and they specialize in their light "Mou bread". They don't have a large menu, but they'll serve this bread in as many ways as they can think of. I saw egg salad sandwiches, ham and cheese sandwiches, bread with curry filling, bread with fruit/raisins, and soup with bread bowl. I think that the bread is delicious. I really liked their curry bread and it's the reason that I'd come back. The croque monsieur was good, but I would have preferred to have it hot than as a cold sandwich option. I think that the rating comes down for people because (1) they sell out of their items pretty quickly, (2) the cost of the items is high, and (3) there's a limited number of sandwiches/products that they offer. At this point, I think that the hype isn't as high as when it opened in February, so I didn't have the experience of long lines that others had; however, I did notice that a lot of the shelf space was empty by the time I got to the store at 10:50am on a Sunday morning. Based on other reviews, it appears that they restock their selves at 9am and 1pm, so I'll have to consider that when I come back. Overall, I have to say that I liked this bakery, and I'd come back, but I'd come here looking for specific sandwiches, and I'd look to come in the first hour of their business being open. read more

We tried three varieties, and the mou curry bread was easily my favorite. The mou edamame & bacon was lighter and more subtle, while the mou corn & sausage balanced sweet and savory nicely. They also offer premium drinks and other bakery items, which I didn't try this time but would be interested in exploring on a return visit. What store at opening time of 7:30AM doesn't have a barista, where you can't get coffee or any drinks? Extremely disappointing

I saw a friend trying cubed bread on social media and this place popped up and I was super excited to find it close by. So of course we had to go check it out. I decided I just wanted to try the pastries this time and I got three different flavors. I tried the raspberry jam and whip, Matcha, and cranberries & nuts. They are the perfect size to try or to share. Honestly, I just ate them as is I did not put anything on them. I also ate them room temperature. I did not heat them up to nibble on them while I was having my dirty Matcha latte. Everyone was super friendly whether they were explaining the menu or I asked about their wine service later on in the waitress who was closing up stopped to tell us about it. I do want to go back and actually try an entrée because the French toast option just sounds heavenly. Probably go this week because my daughter is coming home for spring break and it'll be a fun treat for her as well. read more

If you're looking for an interesting grab-and-go restaurant, this is a good place to visit if you're near the Riviera Village. When you walk in the door, to your left, you'll see a whole bunch of specialty bread orientated items that you can easily grab and take along with you. Obviously, they offer some interesting espresso and coffee drinks, as well. A lot of people go in there and order those items and take them to go, as well. If you're going to order one of their actual dishes, what you do as you go up to the counter and place your order. They will then bring it to your table when your order is ready. If you're planning to travel to the café and actually sit down and eat at this restaurant you really have to keep in mind that they only have a few tables. Both interior and exterior, their seating is relatively limited. Plus, their interior tables are pretty close together. Personally, I don't really find this appealing, sitting close to people I don't know. But, that's a choice you can make. In terms of their outdoor seating, they have a few tables, which are also close together. And, they have a long bar style table with seating on both sides of it. Again, this can be problematic, at least in my mind, because people you don't know may well come and sit right next to you. Another thing to keep in mind about this restaurant is their parking. Yes, they do have a parking lot. This is a shared parking space, which you can enter off of PCH, just to the side of the business. They share this parking in association with a body shop and the other businesses housed in this facility. From this, a lot of times, this parking lot will be at least partially filled up with cars that are being prepped and ready for paint, so you may not be able to find a parking spot. Thus, most people park out on the street. Overall, if you want an interesting bread treat, a coffee orientated drink, or a small meal, this may be the place to go if you're on PCH in Redondo. read more

I am so, so happy to see this Japanese bakery open its first-ever U.S. location--right here in the South Bay! Bread, Espresso & took over the space where Two Guns Espresso Redondo Beach used to be. They're famous for their plush, square-shaped Mou bread and their perfectly brewed espresso. At the Redondo Beach location, they've partnered with Caffe Luxxe for their coffee drinks. The bakery is open Wednesday through Sunday, but they may close early if they sell out! Quantities and variety are limited, and they typically only bake one batch of Mou a day. I went on a Sunday morning, about half an hour after opening, and there was already a line out the door! The bread shelves were empty, but luckily, just as I was waiting in line, they brought out a fresh batch of Mou! It went fast--I don't think it even made it to the back of the line. I also scored a cinnamon roll, chocolate Mou, and edamame bacon Mou to take home since I planned to enjoy breakfast there. For breakfast, I ordered the French toast plate, which featured Mou bread French toast topped with a hot dog (!) and came with a side salad and a yogurt parfait. I paired it with a hot cup of drip coffee with almond milk. The star of this place is definitely the bread! It's so soft and buttery--I loved the French toast, which had such a rich, milky flavor. The different Mou varieties were just as amazing--so fluffy, so soft! The drip coffee packed a nice caffeine kick, and I appreciated that you could choose your milk at no extra cost. However, I did feel it could use a bit more sugar. This spot is fantastic, but be prepared--it's on the pricey side! The French toast plate was $20.40, Mou bread was $6.40, and the smaller Mou varieties ranged from $5.40 to $5.90. That said, I highly recommend trying the bread--it's absolutely worth it! I came here for lunch on a week day and I thought it was going to be busy but it wasn't bad! Maybe because it was already 1-1:30. They were known for the square bread that came in so many different flavors like edamame and bacon, red bean, honey, etc. all looked super yummy. I got some bread to go and ate the lobster bisque soup inside the square toast at the cafe. It came with a side salad as well. Wow the soup was super flavorful and delicious. I've had the pleasure of consuming their various Mou breads (it's close to our boys' music lessons, so they have often brought Mou back)... but today was the first time I physically entered and enjoyed my experience at Bread, Espresso &. Their bread is special. So my taste buds aren't as refined as my husband's so I can't always pick up on nuance of layers of delicacy of flavors, but I definitely love food enough to know if it's good or not. And their bread is good. Better than good. And just to reassure you, carbs aren't our enemy. Tim has enjoyed every visit here (he even wrote his own review about it) and I'm glad I finally got to experience first hand why he enjoys his weekly visit to Bread, Espresso &. First thing you notice is their clean, welcoming, simple yet high quality interior setup. And from the porch area through the door, you feel transported to a sweet little spot of Japan. I restrained myself today and only got the Iced Matcha Latte (whole milk the kindly recommended vanilla syrup) and it was the most legit match latte I have had in recent years. You can tell it's good matcha and it was crafted perfectly (smooth, clean, matcha-y and lovely). The service (as with any Japanese establishment) was kind and thorough and pleasant. I treated myself further by sitting in their lovely and comfy chairs a little longer than I should have, but enjoyed the quiet, bright vibe. We stopped by after passing by itso many times as we live 5 minutes away. We assumed it was just a bakery, which it is, but turns out they have a wine + dine menu as well for evenings. We got to try both bakery and dining items, and was very impressed with the quality of everything. For the the bakery items, we tried: Mentaiko & Butter Mou Bread, Prosciutto Mozzarella Panini. Mentaiko Mou Bread was the standout, just amazing umami flavor. For the wine + dine menu, we tried: Charcuterie Board, Shrimp Ajillo w/ Bread, Japanese Hamburger Steak. The hamburger steak was definitely my fave. They had some nice selections of wine and it went very well with the food. You guys, I've been dying to share, probably my best find of 2025. This is Bread, Espresso, &, a brand new Japanese-style bakery cafe in Redondo Beach. I had heard they were slammed when they just opened a few months ago and were selling out of everything in the first hour, but so glad I waited until the lines died down. They're most known for their mou bread, which is a buttery toast shaped like a cube that is so pillowy on the inside, and crisp on the outside, and they really can make it into anything. A clam chowder toast box, this skillet French toast that was almost like creme brulee and was so jiggly, even one bursting with curry inside. If you have sky-high expectations for miracle breads, you'll be sorely disappointed. If you've ever had Asian bakery breads (like 85C or JJ Bakery or Cream Pan), then you're not missing much. There are subtle nuances in the bread that makes it somewhat unique, but it's very reminiscent of Japanese shokupan. I would certainly not wait in line for this bread again. In the future, if we could just walk in and pick up like any other bakery, we would consider doing so. But the hype is real; there's always a line here. Just because it was hard to get into, we got one of almost each item that was offered. For 4 pieces of bread, the total was almost $30. I think their signature Mou is a little overrated. It's a simple shokupan. However, their French toast was very good. The inside filling is an almost custard soft filling. Overall, don't expect the moon, but still a decent little bakery. First of all: my mawm loves their cappuccino (and she is not easy to please...). We cannot walk past this place without her doing that "just a quick stop" lie. Suddenly we're inside and she's ordering coffee like it's a survival necessity. Honestly, respect. The coffee smell alone? 12/10 nose experience. Now let's talk about the breads. They are... SQUARE. I don't know why this is important to hoomans, but apparently it is because they SELL OUT ALL THE TIME. Suspicious. Highly pupular. I have concluded these breads must be extremely delicious, even though I have been cruelly denied a full scientific taste test (I got crumbs. I remember. I will never forget). The staff? Very friendly to us pups. No weird vibes. Solid ear-scratch energy. They pass the sniff test. The vibe: Very Japanese-inspired. Clean, cozy, minimal. I don't fully understand it, but I did feel like I went on a quick international trip without leaving my leash radius. One moment I'm in California, next moment I'm a worldly pup. AND--big bonus--there's a little front patio where I can sit like the distinguished pupper I am and watch the traffic on Pacific Coast Highway. Nothing like enjoying the view of fast-moving cars while waiting for bread I cannot legally eat. The irony is not lost on me. Final verdict: Great coffee (according to mawm), mysterious square breads (according to the entire hooman population), and a pup-approved hangout spot. Would return. Would stare at bread again. I may have made a mistake of going during opening weekend, so I'll have to go again after a few weeks have passed when all the hype is gone because 1 hour plus was not worth it. Location: Right on the corner of PCH and Avenue E. I think it's across the street from a car wash and in front of St. Andrew's Church parking lot. Food: Thus far, it's been a challenge just getting to sample the bread since they. run out of product by 8 am. The ladies at the front will tell you they'll have more in the afternoon, but I wasn't willing to stand another hour+ wait again. They weren't even able to offer the full dine-in menu due to high demand. What I did get to try was the French toast plate and I have to say this is not the kind of bread to use for this dish as the bread is too thick and makes the middle mushy with so much heat when the warm syrup sits on top for more than a few minutes. Couldn't try anything else because by 8 am, most items were gone even with their limit of 1 moue per person. Service/Ambience: Service was as good as it can be with so many people in one place, but if you're going to serve an item like yogurt with a plate, at least provide a spoon for it. Ambience I couldn't tell you because it was too crowded to get a feel for the place. I'll have to come back in a few weeks and try again. Theres a cold fridge with premade sandwiches as well. They had a wide selection of mous but by the time we got in most of them had sold out which is understandable as there was such a big crowd. You're allowed one mou bread and one of anything else. The rule makes sense since this place is SO popular and JUST opened, they are trying to let ppl try some things. They were also re filling breads as they came out fresh from the oven. So if it's empty there may be a chance that it will be refilled soon. Once it was filled a lot of people who already purchased tried to run in and grab items, but the associates stopped them as it wasn't fair for those waiting in line. I'm glad they intervened. I am not sure why people are so greedy Was able to get one curry bun mou it was soft savory and great. Would go great with an egg. We ordered the mou lobster bisque and mou clam chowder Both came with a small side salad. The lobster bisque was so good, rich creamy no fishy taste. The mou bread was so soft inside and crunchy. clam chowder soup was also very creamy, filling and cozy feeling. It was perfect for the Rainy day. What a waste of time for what amounts to a "paper launch." Super hyped up online, tons of people, but there is no bread to be found. And for a shop with "Espresso" in the name, it is perplexing that they only serve batch brewed drip coffee like at a gas station. Basically, you have to camp outside before they open in order to get anything like it's Black Friday. For a loaf of bread. Bread lines in 2025. They might as well hand out raffle tickets and call them ration cards. They will be closed on Monday and Tuesday for staff training. Hopefully they train on how to make a correct amount of bread. It is a bakery after all, right? Edit: On Wednesday, sure enough, they have tickets. #Rationing Also I'd like to add, for those who find it "distasteful" to leave a review without trying the food. We went by on a Saturday around 1pm and there was no line and plenty of bread, so I guess the hype has definitely died down. The price is steep for what you get, but I really enjoyed their Mou bread with red bean and cream. That was delicious, and I'd for sure get that again. Red bean is one of those things that I grew up with but never really enjoyed until I got older. I'd always wonder why my parents loved red bean so much and why there is so much of it in Korean and Japanese food, but now I totally get it! It's so good and any place that has fresh red bean in their pastry has my name all over it. I also got their melon bread, both green tea and chocolate. It was good, but I thought it was very similar to soboro bread in texture and not worth the price. We also got their matcha latte with half the syrup, and it was very good. This is my first time visit, I saw promotions for this on social media. Thought Id give it a try for father's day. The parking lot in the back had lots of spots. I came and theres a small line but it moved pretty quickly. I decided to get one of every item except for the sandwiches. The mou bread is pretty good but people are right this is kind of pricey. But I would expect so in this area. Definitely a bit cheaper in Japan but Im glad they have a location here in the US now. The ladies at the register moved quickly and efficiently. She was also nice and answered all my questions. I might come back to try an item off their top menu with the breakfast or dinner. When our family got back from Japan, we were going through serious withdrawal--from the precision, the hospitality, the carbs. Enter: Bread, Espresso &, our little slice of Tokyo tucked into the South Bay. We're basically regulars now. Every Wednesday, like clockwork, we stroll in for our midweek morale boost. The kids are obsessed with the red bean and cream Mou--and honestly, same. It's like a hug from a pastry. Their cappuccinos and americanos are so good they've ruined other coffee for me. (Sorry, Starbucks. It's not you. It's Bread, Espresso &.) Pro tip: take home their original Mou. Toast it. Add jam. Then prepare to ascend into breakfast heaven. The place is spotless and stylish--very "Japanese minimalist chic." It feels like we're back in Tokyo, minus the jet lag and the vending machines that sell everything from coffee to umbrellas. TL;DR: Amazing pastries, elite coffee, stunning vibes. This place is dangerously good. Highly recommend--but also, please don't go on Wednesdays. That's our thing. read more
