I really liked the outdoor seating. It's a lovely spot to enjoy a sunny day. That said, weekends are a different story. It gets very busy, and I'm not a fan of waiting in long lines or struggling to find a seat. For me, that takes away from the experience. So far, I've only tried two items. The pastry was nice, but the sesame coffee just didn't taste good. I actually love sesame, so that was disappointing. For now, I'm not particularly impressed, but I also don't feel like I've gotten a full sense of what the café has to offer yet. I'm planning to come back and try a few more items before making up my mind. So far, it's been about a 3.5 experience overall.

Really delicious baked goods! My favorite is the kaya toast, which has super soft milk bread with a coconut pandan jam that is not overly sweet. It has the perfect balance of sweetness with just a hint of savory. The coconut flavor is subtle. The kaya bun had a similar coconut pandan filling and was also delicious, though I still preferred the kaya toast. We also tried the croissant and gyeranbbang, both of which were good. I have also had their Mt. Tam Basque cheesecake before, which is incredibly rich and decadent. It is perfect for enjoying a few bites at a time, though it is a bit too heavy for me to finish in one sitting. The yuzu americano drink was not my favorite pairing. It tasted carbonated and sour, which I guess true to the description, but it just was not for me! Friendly service! Convenient to place online orders through their website. Street parking only.

When we walked up to the bright turquoise Breadbelly building there was a line that had begun to form outside, but the crowd was lively and they had a speaker blasting songs from the Black Eyed Peas. It was a vibe. My energy was kept up with one of their delicious hot matcha cappuccinos! Now for the food...I ordered their regular breakfast sandwich, but there was nothing regular about it. I love that they used a pandesal (Filipino bread) for the sandwich bun! And the sauce!! The sauce gave it incredibly unique flavor that had me stuffing my face. I tried a bite of their sausage biscuit smash and was equally impressed! It was like a Sausage McMuffin, but 10x better. I would definitely come back and grab some of their sweet treats to go too! Also, would definitely recommend this spot to friends looking to grab some brunch.

Probably the best ham and cheese croissant! Also the mango passionfruit bread and fig& sesame croissant were really good!

I've heard so much about the Kaya toast and it definitely lived up to the hype. The milk bread was toasted, with a slightly sweet, pillowy soft interior. The pandan coconut custard jam had a great flavor and was super smooth. The addition of flaky salt on top was a good addition for both texture and sweet-salty balance. For a savory addition, I tried the chicken cutlet, which was juicy, freshly fried, and had a good five spice flavor. Overall, excellent food with a creative menu I look forward to exploring more. There's very limited seating (2-3 small tables) inside, but more table and bench seating outdoors. Service was quick and friendly, and it's easy to order ahead to pick up.

Wow, the Kaya toast and iced black sesame cappuccino were delicious. Both are must-order items if you're craving a sweet treat. Make sure to mix the iced drink well since the sweet part sinks to the bottom. It is soooo good when mixed and has a balanced nutty flavor. The bread for the Kaya toast is a thick perfect piece of milk bread and the pandan coconut custard jam on top is to die for. The little bit of flaky salt is such a nice touch that perfectly balances all the flavors. YUM! Staff were wonderful. There's a ton of seating outside which was perfect to enjoy the nice weather. Line moved quickly and service was fast too!

Going down Clement street in San Francisco it changes once you go past Park Presidio Blvd. You will notice there are less stores and restaurants than the first mile of Clement street. You will also find a bakery on 15th Avenue and Clement which is always crowded and cramped with people when I go at anytime of the weekday and weekend to get some pastries . It has Asian inspired bake goods along with hot and cold drinks. You will find bake goods such as Cherry almond cake, Mt. Tam Basque Cheesecake and purple sweet potato Not-Ube Tart. You will see on the menu made to order sandwiches like these egg salad bunwich and Biscuit Smash. You will also find the Shrimpwich and Taiwanese-style fried chicken cutlet sandwich. It's called the Breadbelly in the Richmond District of San Francisco. On a Spring stroll in search of matcha on a rainy day in SF , Don Juan de la Matcha found some warm matcha. I came to Breadbelly for the green items like the Kaya toast and Matcha. I decided to get the Matcha cappuccino which was smooth warm and not too sweet. Although it was only 8 ounces every drop was strong and packed a punch ( not the viral monkey). I then had the Kaya toast and it was a bit sweet and not too flakey like some in SF. The green Pandan jam on the Kaya toast was a bit savory but delicious . There are few canary yellow tables to sit inside and a lot more seating outside. Overall a good place to grab and pair a green dessert and a green drink. Go on a Spring stroll past by the Park Presidio green "trees" in San Francisco where the weather can easily change in one day and go from 50 to 70 "degrees" you also can grab a sandwich like the fried chicken cutlet which the style of "Taiwanese"and the matcha which is done in the style of the "Japanese " Come for a "break" at Breadbelly where they "bake "the Kumquat Twice-Baked Croissant and other baked goods like some in SF which "flake"and make it a meal and try their egg salad bunwich , matcha cappuccino, and cherry almond "cake"

We came here as a recommendation from a coworker. We came on a Sunday afternoon, and it was very busy. They have indoor and outdoor seatings. The wait wasn't too long before we ordered the Kaya toast and Kaya bun. The Kaya toast was so delicious. The toast had a very soft texture like a croissant and the Kaya pandan cream complements it so well. This was devoured very quickly. The Kaya bun was just okay in our opinion. We will definitely be back for the Kaya toast and to try their other menu items. I saw a lot of people with the breakfast sandwich and matcha.

not too long of a wait on a friday morning! around 5-10 people. got the breakfast/biscuit sandwiches, kaya bun, blueberry croissant, and rosemary honey latte. our favs were the croissant, hot/iced coffees, and sandos. I'd pass on the kaya bun! everything is amazing quality and one of our favorite eats in SF. prices are average for the area.

This is a spot that lives up to the hype. If you order ahead you can skip the line and go straight to the pickup counter. It was easy, quick, and convenient. The kaya toast and blueberry croissant tart were our favorites, but everything we tried was delicious. I will be back!

Disappointing experience. Very rude and impersonal cashier did not exactly make for a warm welcome. To find out that a 5% "staff health & wellbeing" fee is added on to every bill does not exactly soften that blow. Feels pretty lame for business owners to pass along their overhead costs to customers. On top of that, the prices are extremely high for what you get. A $3.50 banana "cake" is literally one bite (see photo). The gyeranbbang was tasty but again small for the price ($7.50). There is very limited indoor seating and no WiFi. The water cups were dirty. The one staff member cleaning the outdoor tables was nice, probably the only thing saving this review from a one-star.

Had a little extra time today. So. Hubby and I went to get breakfast. Breadbelly Biscuit Smash - buttermilk biscuit, black pepper sausage patty, scallion omelette, peanut romesco sauce, new school American cheese The biscuit was so crunchy, the egg cooked just right and the sausage was cooked perfect. So tender. Classic Croissant - croissant made with Beurre d'Isigny, French Normandy butter All the associate's there provided great service. The deco was very simple and nice. They had a great outdoor seating area. It is a must visit.

Hadn't been here in years but glad to see Breadbelly thriving! It was packed on a Sunday afternoon, lots of folks out in the parklet and inside as well in the limited seating. Most pastries were sold out, just a few options left at 1:30. Kumquat twice baked was on the sweeter side as most twice baked croissants are. Don't see kumquat often so was glad to try it, but wasn't my fave since it was pretty dense, especially with the crumble on top. Black sesame cappuccino was small but mighty, very flavorful, and I especially appreciated staff giving me a heads up that it's typically on the sweeter side, giving me the option to dial that down per my preference. I think the kumquat croissant was $10 and the black sesame cappuccino $7, so on the high end for sure.

    Ask the Community - Breadbelly

    Is there seating?

Yes, a few indoors and in a parklet.

Is it crowded on the weekend?

Sometimes, yes. But you can order online.

    What GF options are there?

They have some GF cookie options -- the buckwheat chocolate cookie is incredible

Is the gelatin in the kaya bun pork?

No is just like matcha jelly

Why are they always closed (Saturday at noon)?

10-2PM they are open at 12 Noon Saturdays

What is the best time to go during the weekends before things start getting sold out?

I would def say before 12:30! You want to miss the lunch time rush or post church rush! I went around 10ish and there were only a few people there :)

Why is it called "not ube tart"?

Ube is purple yam in Filipino. The 'not ube' tart is made from sweet potato which is not the same as a yam. While we're at it, taro is totally different from purple yam or sweet potato.

Great spot for a caffeine fix and sandos The pork katsu…read moresandos were delicious-- crispiness from the pork, freshiness from the cabbage and tanginess from the sauce. The pork was nicely cooked. The fish katsu sandos were good, but did not compare to the pork katsu ones in terms of flavor and wow factor. Of course had to get a drink while here! I tried the hojicha with strawberry. The strawberry paired nicely with the hojicha without overpowering it. The hojicha was nutty and earthy. There is a line to order for takeout in the restaurant and pick up is outside through a window.

I've yet to see such amazing…read morematcha desserts in SoCal (where there's plenty of soft serves, einspanners, etc) Dropped by here after having lunch and this place was busy! But I have to praise that they do work fast and service is great. Indoor seating will be a tiny wait but is worth because the inside is so lovely, more like a Japanese tea room rather than some cafes that lean towards the clean modern usually all white interior look. We got seated at this cute little tea area almost felt like a sushi bar vibe. I was impressed that I could see that they had different water kettles labeled with appropriate temperatures for brewing their matcha. So I ordered for my date and me: matcha latte, matcha pie, and the cookie trio. Matcha latte was good! Nothing too crazy but still really good, I'm more of a hojicha person nowadays but solid drink and beautiful textured milk. The PIE! This is their best dessert and for good reason. Citrusy, but not terribly sweet, rich yet still has the subtle matcha flavor. I could see potential for a fall forward hojicha version of their pie one day. $10 for a slice but worth to share Cookie trio was a good pick too. My favorite was probably the Kinako oatmeal raisin cookie and I think would pair well with any warm drink. Matcha white chocolate cookie was not too bad, I think it benefited a lot from the bit of sea salt on top. The Hojicha chocolate walnut cookie was my second favorite! I don't see many hojicha desserts happening yet in matcha cafes so this cookie was a delight to have and honestly I've gotta try making my own. So warm but not too dominated by the chocolate. I wanna come back because they've got a matcha chestnut cake I wanna try next, just stellar for the desserts
