This is my third consecutive weekend at Breadbelly and I have no complaints. There are tons of pricey bakeries in SF but this one actually deserves your money! Seriously everything is delicious but top recs are the Kaya Bun (for sweet) and the Beefwich (for savory). The Beefwich is pho in a sandwich; it's Asian birria; it's french dip but better. I can't recommend it enough. If you're worried about losing all your money to this place (like I am) I think you can try each drink once then never again as they are $$$ at $8. read more

I initially ordered the egg coffee (perhaps the best I've had in the US) and the breakfast sandwich (tbh slightly underwhelmed, the bread was good but the sandwich was strangely sweet). I then saw people with Kaya toasts and decided to get that as a sweet treat. Very yummy, slightly eggy, loved the saltiness, bread was phenomenal. The kaya toast was soooo good - the bread was fluffy and the kaya spread was incredible. I would probably not get the not ube tart - it was very potato heavy (since it's made from purple potato) and that overwhelmed the meringue on top and the crust. I was finally able to try Breadbelly since it has been on my list for almost a year. While the prices may seem a bit steep, the service, taste and quality of the ingredients made up for it! Things I tried: - Kaya toast: sooo worth the hype. The perfectly buttered toast complemented the pandan, topped by the flaky sea salt that cut the sweetness. I would recommend sharing this with a friend or two. - Egg toast sandwich: The ratio wasn't the most distributed, but I really liked the fried squash and vegetables throughout. - Curry bun: I air-fried this when I got home and wow! I loved the assortment of textures and flavors. The filling included sliced sqash, roasted parsnips, mushrooms, and this delicious curry sauce, and it was topped by crunchy pumpkin seeds and panko breadcrumbs. Saw this shop on a website with that green creamy on a toast and I told myself that I need one of that and here I am. The shop is close to the Golden Gate Park also. Came here for a weekend lunch with some friends and tried a few different items, but they all turned out consistently lackluster... Shrimpwich - I'd seen rave reviews about this, so was really excited to try it. Great texture on the bun, patty, and slaw, but the sandwich just didn't have...flavor?! I enjoyed the texture of the shrimp patty - clearly not one of those cheap patties with filler, but I truly wished it was tastier. Gyerranbang - As my friend eloquently put it, this was cornbread with melted cheese. Neither the cornbread nor the cheese were particularly tasty, but props to the Breadbelly team for at least agreeing to help us to heat this up because it was stone cold when we got it. Ask them to! Mushroom Teriyaki Bun - I didn't try this, but also cold apparently. Mushroom Grilled Cheese - this looked SO good, with bright melty cheese sandwiched between their house Milk Bread. But again...literally did not taste like anything. Our group was confused enough by the end. Do we all have COVID?! Why does nothing taste like much at all? Definitely can say we did not have covid since we'd just tried an Arsicault croissant before this and that was amazing. The one bright spot? I also had their Choco-Soba-Ko Cookie. I recently also had a buckwheat cookie from Black Jet Baking Co., so had a benchmark for comparison. That was better, but I enjoyed the crispy (rice?) topping on this one, so it wasn't bad. First off, their price had really gone up that it doesn't even justify the quality of food they're serving. It's ridiculous to pay $22.75 for a shrimp sandwich that suffered from trying to cut costs from what it seems. We live right by this place, and it's always poppin during the weekends in the morning! We have been meaning to try it but never did until today! I got the egg bunwich and the breakfast sandwich with an extra egg and a latte with oat milk. All the sandwiches come with milk buns and I'm lactose intolerant, but it's so worth it! The bread was bouncy and soft. (There's a reason why bread with milk in it is so good and fluffy) The egg bunwich had air fried zucchini in it- such a great touch with the extra crunch and flavor. Apparently online order didn't mean anything as I got there and they said they had my order and will make it fresh for me. So I had to still wait. Luckily it's not a long wait. It's a very small cup for that price! The egg fluff on top is tasty, but after I finished the top the coffee at the bottom isn't great. I should maybe mix the whole thing and drink it but there's not enough egg fluff to go around. They give you a spoon to eat it. So here's what I ordered: KAYA TOAST - $8 Milk bread with coconut-pandan jam, maldon sea salt. I will always order this when I come here. It's so yummy as it is looks. It's a thick and decent size slice of milk bread that's been slightly toasted. So you have a nice crispy outer edges but still soft towards the center. Yes it's a thick slice but you'll taste plenty of that sweet Kaya spread and some of that better in between. That sea salt was a nice touch. Boy, was I happy camper. STONE FRUIT CRUMBLE TWICE-BAKED CROISSANT - $7.50 Summer pluots, orange blossom frangipane, almond crumble. Perhaps the most expensive croissant I have ever purchased, haha! But wow I definitely taste the pluot and orange. Very crispy and flakey. Yes my mouth is all scraped up on the inside but this is one dang good filled croissant--loved how they are generous with that!
