But really delicious, chocolatey, flakey, not dry, just very satisfying without feeling guilty. I would definitely go again to try other things. This is a great place to grab dessert! They have a pretty good selection of pastries, but I usually come here for the chocolate babka and the chocolate rugelach. This time around, I just got a few rugelaches and the strawberry brioche. The rugelach is delicious, and it has great chocolate flavor. It is perfectly soft and flakey. The strawberry brioche was surprisingly really good as well, and it was very soft and the cream was tasty. The strawberries paired with it very nicely. Much like that Seinfeld episode, one day I attempted to purchase a chocolate babka but Breads Bakery had sold out of their popular signature offering. Despite the availability of apple babkas (I won't call it a lesser babka), I consoled myself with a chocolate chip cookie ($4.50) which was okay. So many baked goods in the case, both sweet and savory, looked delicious. When I eventually returned to a wealth of chocolate babkas ($16.95 each) on the shelf, I discovered that it really truly was a standout. It was surprisingly heavier and bigger than I expected. The Nutella and chocolate were plentiful; it was kind of like a chocolate croissant in loaf form. Yum. I've been randomly bringing up the babka in conversations days later; that's when you know something's stellar. This Breads Bakery location isn't super spacious but still has several tables. Also, there is no restroom for customers. The woman in front of me was inquiring about one, and the cashier said something about outside around the corner, not exactly sure. Speaking of employees, they all seem very nice and polite and focused on keeping the line moving which was appreciated. I admit I was hesitant to come to a place with multiple locations, but this place is phenomenal. Great bakery - amazing croissant, jeruseum bagel + labneh, and you MUST try the chocolate babka. It's a perfect fusion of nutella (?) Chocolate and babka crunch. Highly recommend for all those bakery lovers. read more

Wow! What a sweet selection of breads and cakes served with a variety of coffee. To go breads of all flavors - challah, cakes and black/white cookies. They are kosher friendly. While walking by I was drawn into this place because of the windows, the smells of fresh bread and everyone seemed to enjoy their food. The food: 3/5 I ordered the regelach, this was super delicious! I really enjoyed it a lot, I was not happy that it cost $3 for one but well worth it for just one. I also ordered two pieces of bread the Jerusalem bagel and garlic/Parmesan breadstick. These were okay until I realized there were mustards to dip them which enhances them a little bit . My favorite mustard would have been the smoked followed by the spicy mustard. The service: 2/5 when I walked in it seemed like the employees were to busy and did not want to help. I received my order and it would have been a nice addition to be told about the mustards for the breads to dip. I know most people probably know this but I did not. I also went to ask for more of the Smokey mustard, one of the girls asked someone else where it was and he said if it's out we have no more today; they will make more tomorrow. I'm not sure how I felt about this, I was conflicted between either they did not want to refill it or they actually are out. The ambiance: 3/5 it's a cool place to sit and look outside. I felt like a dog in a cage, I saw people walking by and pointing to me mouthing words. It was a very awkward feeling, so I'd suggest not to sit near the window for that reason. The seating is limited inside as well, if you go during midday you'll have no problem but earlier or later you may have to wait or stand to consume your meal. read more

This bakery makes one delicious chocolate babka! I've gotten a few things from Breads and everything is high quality, well constructed, and yummy. The chocolate babka will always be my favorite but I think you can't go wrong with other items. I like this location bc it's clean, airy, and spacious. Service is quick and the cashiers are helpful (but also seem skilled at moving things along). Today I got a chai latte-- a little on the sweet/syrupy side, but pretty tasty nonetheless. Chai latte - its a pass for me. They use a liquid concentrate to mix Muesli bread - very filling, lots of seeds and raisins. Yum! The tiny chocolate croissants - so delicious. It stayed relatively crunchy and moist on the inside even after a couple of days. But when you eat them when it's fresh, oh gosh. The texture is very intact. Service is hit or a miss. We were in the area, and I didn't realize that a Breads had opened in the area! It's right off the subway, and very close to Rock Center. I had been craving a good croissant, and man breads hit the spot! The croissant tasted fresh, had beautiful flaky layers, and it really hit the spot. We also got a small sourdough, which was pricy at $8.95, but also delicious. I typically have been making my own sourdough, but was short on time so I grabbed one from here. Here's what left me disappointed, the person helping me had no knowledge about allergens, and the labels only show when things contain dairy or wheat. Egg is a common allergen, and they didn't write whether or not things contained egg. When I asked the person if they knew if certain things had eggs, he just said it all had it, but then when I asked if the sourdough had it, he said not that. Make your people more knowledgeable about allergens, especially common ones. read more

If you're craving a bread, pastry, or lunch option, look no further. This place is AMAZING! We were passing by and one employee was handing out free samples of the lemon babka, which is exclusive to this location. Oh my god - SO amazing, I bought the loaf. My friend bought the chocolate and cinnamon babkas for friends and family the next day - we were completely convinced. They do offer prepared items and also hot and cold beverages to choose from (mainly coffee and tea). Other locations have outdoor seating (the Lincoln Center location has quite a bit outside, it's really nice during the spring/summertime!), but I highly recommend this location!!! read more

Delicious!!! I have been to the location on the UWS as well as their small location neat Bryant park. I love their tuna salad platter. The bread sticks are incredible. The babka is the best in the city. Their cinnamon rolls are incredible as well. The food is expensive but it's incredibly delicious and worth the price tag. There are no photos because I always forget to take a picture before devouring their food but I will be sure to update this review after my next trip. The UWS is small so it can feel hectic but the service for a countertop space is good. There is limited indoor seating. They do have outdoor seating as well. read more

I was extremely disappointed by the chocolate almond croissant at this Breads Bakery. I get that this location is new and has limited traffic right now, but I don't think it's right to serve customers croissants that were made the day prior or older. I bought a chocolate almond croissant and latte at 815 in the am, and fully expected quality given their bake goods are phenomenal in Upper East. Instead, I got a croissant that is cold and had extremely rough and rubbery texture. I have had grocery and food cart bought croissants that tasted way better.
