This location has gone so far downhill in the last year or so I cannot eat here anymore. Servers frequently mess up orders, no silverware, never check on tables, never refill coffee (half the time it doesn't even arrive). List goes on. I ate the entire breakfast which is amazing for me! I had the avocado toast -micro greens, smooshed avocados, strawberries, seeds and pomegranates- and the chicken fennel sausage! YUM! A cup of Cafe de Olla - never left to empty nor reach room temp thanks to the amazing Jason! A glass of fresh squeezed orange juice too! Service has always been good, but a little patience is needed at times because it does get busy. Plenty of food options no matter if you're vegan or not. Breakfast Republic is always solid. This location is no different. We went there at around 9:30 on a Saturday and had to wait 15 minutes. Full warning that's on the lower end normally as the day progresses. We got their coffee cake, an omelette and their chilaquiles. The coffee cake was great but ask for a side of butter. That makes it a 15/10. The omelette was okay but the potatoes were fantastically crispy which I loved. My husband had the chilaquiles and although they were soggy the sauce on it was perfection. My friend and I were in SD for a work conference and we decided to try this place because there were great reviews and it did NOT disappoint. First, the ambiance is remarkable! We kept commenting on the cute esthetics which consisted of eggs in chickens. The forefront to the kitchen is an airstream- SO original. There are cute egg S&P on each table and the whole area felt inviting. The service was stellar! Jessica was the lead server and Maggie was shadowing her...btw...it was Maggie's 1st day. They were both attentive, friendly, and professional. The food was phenomenal! I am dairy free and had the Tres Leches Pancakes with homemade syrup. Run, don't walk to get these babies. Seriously delicious and my friend (who is not dairy free) said they were delicious. As an OB local, Old Townhouse was always our go-to diner. Since the pandemic, though, prices there have gotten pretty steep. I've been to Breakfast Republic a few times, but only recently realized how good it really is. There's always seating, the staff is terrific, the menu is better, the music is better, and the food is better--at the same prices. The only "downside" is that it's a block farther from the beach, which is insignificant. I'd absolutely recommend eating here over some of the overpriced, old school diner spots serving basic omelets and pancakes. It's simply a better value and a much better experience. And if you have more than four people, there are plenty of tables for larger groups. Unlike the booths at some of the other diners. read more

I usually LOVE Breakfast Republic, but something was super off this visit. All the dishes and glasses were dirty/had leftover food on them. Their bananas foster were just hot sliced bananas. Their lattes were really, really bad, and they were served in dirty cups. The room was humid and muggy even though the windows were open. There also seemed to only be one waiter when we visited. Overall, this was the most uncomfortable Breakfast Republic experience I've ever had. Hoping it's just an off day for this specific location. read more

Once my family of 5 with 3 dogs was seated we were told to keep the dogs to one side and then a couple minutes later after getting situated the General manager Lance made sure to make sure we knew he's in charge, telling us to move seats , tapping at his name tag to let it be known "he's in charge " , poor lil guy was on a power trip.
