I was in San Diego last weekend and stopped by Breakfast Republic for breakfast. First off parking was easy. We didn't struggle and it was very accessible. We were worried there might be a wait since we went on Saturday morning, but there was no wait and we were seated right away. The staff was friendly and very patient while we were deciding on our orders. We ordered a flight of pancakes, mashed potato omelet, chilaquiles, jalapeno bacon sausage omelet and the Portuguese linguisa sausage scramble. Everything was pretty tasty and the breakfast potatoes were cooked perfectly. They have a spicy ketchup that was interesting and we enjoyed it with the food. It was quiet and not too noisy so we were able to hear each other during breakfast. This was a big plus for us! I think this place is worth a try if you are nearby. read more

Thank you Michael for making my partners birthday breakfast special. You have a wonderful personality and you provided great service during our dining experience. We brought our two pups and they enjoyed their time as well. We ordered a bottle of Prosecco and enjoyed their fresh squeezed OJ and some mango Nectar. Michael our server surprised me with a tajin and chamoy rimmed glass. So thoughtful. We ordered a side of fruit, which was better than the sides you see at other restaurants. It had mango and blood oranges and plums and pineapple. Tasted so fresh. Really enjoyed it. We also ordered the shrimp and grits, you can't go wrong with this dish, creamy and cheesy and the corn relish is to die for! They don't skimp on the shrimp. We also got the jambalaya which was good, no Louisiana feels but good for the price. Just enough spice and the flavor was good. We got our eggs over easy. Love a drippy runny yoke. And to finish we shared 1 single churro pancake, just enough to satisfy our sweet tooth craving! The crunch on the outside gives all the churro vibes. What a great experience. We will be back. I'm really over this place at this point. Three times now and three different issues every time. Walked in and there were maybe three tables, wanted to sit by the window and girl acted like it was a huge undertaking despite another table already being set pretty close by. Gave her our drink order, it didn't come and then she asked us if we were ready to order food? We were actually ready for our drinks first but ordered food anyway. Took forever to get refills of coffee and soda, food was okay but $8 for a measly side of fruit was ridiculous. Chilaquiles were good. Had a much better experience at the Liberty Station location just the day before. Will stick to that one from now on. read more

This BR is another location in SD I never knew of. I've been to a few of their locations in SD. The food at BR tends to be slightly pricey especially if you add in any alcohol. I went with the Linguinisa scramble, house potatoes, and toast. Overall it was adequate enough to get full. It was cold inside of this location with a breeze blowing into the building. This BR is located upstairs. The men's restroom could have used a bit of cleaning. It had that wet feel to it and the smell of pee was pretty prevalent. Our server was polite and friendly. read more

Looking for a hip and unique breakfast experience? Then look no further than Breakfast Republic. We gave it a try while traveling and loved the food and staff. The chicken fennel omelet and cinnamon swirl pancakes were amazing. The home fries were surprisingly flavorful. Ruby was the first person I spoke with when I initially called, and she was lovely. The general manager Amber made planning easy - there were no deposits or minimums, I was able to order platters in advance, and she was great with communication. When I mentioned that the group loved Rumplemintz shots, Amber even set some aside after ordering extra bottles (and had it cold and ready when we came in). I was able to meet and thank Amber after we first came in, and she was so warm and welcoming and even gave us a few Rumplemintz shots on the house to kick things off (thank you again, Amber!). The reviews don't lie in terms of how good the food here is. When we arrived a little early, they had our platters ready almost immediately and kept them well-heated. We had platters of the sticky garlic wings and a mix of the garlic and regular fries, and ordered pretzels and queso and the elote dip à la carte for the tables. Everything was amazing and the sticky garlic wings and garlic fries were such a hit that we ordered a few extra plates of them as well (even though the platters were perfect for our group size). EVERYONE raved about them. We had a small amount left to bring home that were enjoyed the next evening and were still amazing after being reheated. A few people in our party got additional food items as well (burgers) and they were hits as well. The drinks were also phenomenal, with a special shoutout for the espresso martini and the Purple Haze mocktail (that a few folks liked so much they got an alcoholic version). We had a person in our group who can't drink and it was nice to see how inclusive they are with having a few signature mocktail options. The pricing was very reasonable, especially for the platters (they were perfectly sized, and we only ordered a little extra because the food was so good and we'd wanted to take some home). Highly recommend getting platters with a larger group here - you can pre-order and they keep everything well-heated for you the whole time. Most importantly, this place is a vibe and every single staff member we interacted with was SO KIND and accommodating. They do a table side show that was amazing and it was a delicious dessert. Service throughout the night was great. Overall, I will say that I will be back for Drinks and if we decide to have a meal here, I would definitely get the Caesar salad the onion on red wine side and the banana foster. The steak was good, just not great I would be willing to try a different cut or protein. For the pricetag, I would've expected everything to be great, which is why four.

My girlfriend and I come here very often but I have yet to write a review! We have always had great service and yummy food. But today our waiter left us hanging and we waited awhile for our food. What a beautiful location! Visiting from out of town and this was one of our first stops on Monday. Our first server, I forget her name but dark curly hair, was a little difficult to track down and sort of disappeared after getting our drinks. Luckily, this sweet server with an Irish accent helped us out and made our experience great. The food was outstanding, definitely try a benedict. Recently had a fantastic breakfast at Breakfast Republic! The food was delicious. I had the mascarpone French toast and my husband the chilaquiles. Both excellent. What really made the experience stand out was our server, Ysa. She was incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure our coffee cups were always full and our needs met with a smile. Ysa warm personality really added to the wonderful start of our day. Can't wait to come back! read more

We were seated immediately but the wait for our food was over 40 minutes. When the food came out it was barely warm and stale. The water/glasses smelled like dirty dishwater. The bread was over toasted/too hard. Customer service could use some work. It was an ok breakfast spot but did not live up to the hype. read more

It's Tuesday, Breakfast Republic was open today. There has been dog or human poop and hair on the sidewalk right in front of the restaurant for at least two days. Today, there was more in the middle of the sidewalk that had been stepped in. Who would eat there? read more

The broccoli was properly charred (impressive touch), and the whole thing was cooked to perfection. Breakfast potatoes were delicious. Sourdough toast came out with ample butter (exactly how I like it -- load it up) and they have Dickinson's strawberry preserves in self-serve jars. Ketchup arrives in a little ramekin on the side, and the house salsa is excellent: fresh, bright, and not spicy. The only minor miss was the fruit garnish, which was a little bland and flavorless. Everything else delivered. Service was excellent across the board. Our server (forgive me, I forgot her name) was glamorous in the best Tammy Faye Bakker way and I adored her. She had perfect timing -- present when needed, then left us alone to enjoy the meal in peace. The rest of the staff matched that standard. Our server asked if we wanted coffees to go, she was so thorough and delivered incredible hospitality. The place itself is calm, quiet, clean, and family-oriented. Cleanliness is genuinely unmatched -- the kitchen is spotless and the whole dining room felt Waldorf-Astoria level of polished. I loved the wood shutters, bay-life decor, the bathroom wallpaper with the colorful parrots, and the overall classic American vibe. Booths available. Ample street parking. After looking over the fairly small and limited menu, the wife ordered their Creme Brûlée French toast and I opted for their Bagel and Lox with a side of two, soft scrambled eggs. My wife's meal came with crispy bacon and I believe four pieces of French toast and several slices of fresh fruit. My Lox Bagel came with the usual cream cheese, capers, onions and tomatoes; several slices of fresh fruit and my eggs were cooked soft, just as requested. Overall the food was really good. Hot, fresh and good portions. Both my wife and I finished our entire meals which normally doesn't happen. SCENE: Located at the corner of N. Harbor Dr. and Nimitz Blvd, the Point Loma Cafe shares the same property with the Double Tree Hotel. It's very open and airy and it appears during peak times, it can accommodate over 80 persons. The only issue I can foresee would be parking. Their parking lot is small and has about four stalls. There is parking available at the Double Tree but, I believe its pay for stay. Of course, there's always the street. RECOMMENDATION(S): Very good breakfast spot if you enjoy that mom & pop type place.
