About 4 years ago we had the system cleaned by an independent contractor and we were pleased with the results. When that time came around again I contacted Breathable for a quote. At first we thought it was kind of steep, but after reading the reviews we decided to bite the bullet. And boy were we glad we did. They went to a level so far above what we did 4 years ago that I would consider to be a completely different level of service. They took apart the furnace and cleaned the inside. One of their operators actually crawled halfway into the intake vent to completely scrub it clean. While our last contractor just simply vacuumed it. SO let me start by saying our situation was difficult. While we had been needing duct cleaning for years. The most immediate problem was that our cats had chased a mouse into the heater duct. I tried my best to lure the mouse out, but it never surfaced. After about 2 days, the smell started. We needed help! After a few calls, we found that since it was winter, a next day appointment was going to be tricky. Nir at Breathable, was confident they could help, and the team rallied to fit us into their schedule. The smell was starting to get pretty bad. They dove right in, started with the vacuums and started searching. After they couldn't find it in the branch lines of our heating ducts. They had to inspect the trunk lines. I was so worried they would never find it at this point. The deceased critter must have climbed all the way down to the furnace. After a brilliant move to cut open a small opening in the duct above the furnace, success! I can't tell you how much I appreciated their dedication and support. It was a dirty job and they saved the day. They sealed up the heating duct and it looked good as new! I was so relieved. It really wasn't until the next day that I realized how much of a difference the duct cleaning had on our house air quality. I not only lost a dead mouse, but I gained a really clean heating system. You may not need the "mouse" option in your cleaning, but the work they do in general is fantastic. They also cleaned out the fan and duct in my bathroom. It was so clogged with dust. TIPS: Ask for before & after photos at the time of service and double check to see what type of actual service they will do before they start the actual work that day. We had the Type B performed. Scheduling the service was easy with Nir because he's super responsive. Nico and his team came out on time. I was doing this work because I just had construction done and bringing home a preemie baby from the NICU. Nico didn't communicate much with me much when he doing the work. He asked for access to the attic which I gave him and the team was in and out pretty quickly. Turns out through communication with Nir that the team ended up doing negative pressure cleaning because of possible asbestos in my attic (Nico took a pic of a box that had possible asbestos tape on it). At no time did Nico share with me that he was doing negative pressure cleaning and that I had possible asbestos in my attic! I would have never known unless Nir emailed me (which I'm appreciative of so I can get it tested) but why not share with me then?! Also, Nico and the team never shared before and after pics so who knows if it was really cleaned. I had to ask for pics from Nir but they could be any pics for all I know. A few times while the the team was here their vent covers would fall off and I had to tell them so thinking back I wonder if the negative pressure cleaning was even effective since I wasn't there telling them of the fallen vent covers the whole time. Pretty disappointed with this whole thing because I chose them due to their high rating even though they were more expensive than the other vendors. We've lived in our home for 8 years, but have never had the vents cleaned. Every winter when we start to use the heater we all get allergies and since everyone in our home is prone to sneezing and sensitive to allergens we just assumed that was normal. I found Breathable through their awesome yelp reviews - so its only fitting that I return the favor to others looking for vent cleaning. We moved into an old house in SF and I knew this was something we should get done. Getting an estimate and setting up an appointment was really easy. Nir was so responsive and helpful I didn't even bother looking around for other estimates. And it's​ always nice to support a small business! The crew arrived on time and were done in about the time estimated. During their cleaning - they found that our ducts were losing a lot of air (probably b/c its an old house) and we were wasting a lot of energy/$$$ on heating our house. This was something Nir had mentioned they might find during the cleanup - but I was hoping that I wouldn't have to deal with the added cost of fixing this. I have 3-story house that hasn't had it's air filters changed (or even air filters replaced) in over four years. When my heater kicks on it starts to get a little noisy from the extra work the furnace probably has to do. For the New Year I decided to shell out the money for a quality deep clean (called a "Air duct cleaning type: Type B system reset") as well as cleaning my dryer vent and main bathroom vents. Breathable had a team of three technicians come to my house and do the perfect job they advertised in about 2 hours. I feel so much better now that Clear Thumb has cleaned my heating ducts. It was a good thing that I did not know how dirty the vents were before Nir's team came to take on the task. While I was soliciting quotes for the job, Nir promptly and candidly replied to my numerous questions. During the scheduled appointment window, Nir took pains to keep me apprised of their anticipated arrival time. The team was organized and respectful, asking if I'd like them to remove their shoes inside. (I did, which led to much taking off and putting on of footwear during the afternoon.) The lead, Juan Pablo, very kindly and carefully showed me how to change and maintain the furnace filters. Clear Thumb also cleaned out the clothes-dryer vent, which was sorely in need of attention. We moved into a newly remodeled house 10 years ago and this was our first time doing a deep clean on the air system. We went all out and had Breathable clean all the vents, returns, furnace, dryer vent, and even did the bathroom fans. It wasn't a cheap project, but definitely long overdue and high time it got done, especially with the recent years of smoke. Breathable did an excellent job--Juan, Carlos, and Noe were on time and expedient, pointed out things to me along the way, including the fact that none of our vents had been sealed between the air duct and dry wall, resulting in decreased efficiency. I considered taping up the vents myself, but since the vent covers were already off, I went ahead and had the guys do the seam sealing for an extra charge. The guys took care to cover affected surfaces and flooring with protective plastic sheeting and did a decent clean up job afterward. Nir, the owner, was great to work with as well. He was very upfront with the cost estimate and it's set up so that you can pick and choose what level of clean you want. Any out of scope work was clearly identified and done with my approval. The communication was great, which is not my usual experience with service providers. One thing, we didn't have any new air filters on hand, so we had to go around to a couple of stores while the work was being done.
