Hole in the wall diner-type restaurant that has excellent, friendly customer service. The food is delicious and they offer a HOMEMADE ROOT BEER for root beer lovers. They do family & group take out orders, too. The owner is very involved, attentive and a really good human being. The food is excellent, fairly priced but I am partial to this restaurant because it is the type of old-fashioned lunch/dinner place that is mostly extinct in Orange County these days. We arrived for an early lunch as there are only 3 or 4 tables inside. Most of the customers were taking their food to go. We ordered brisket sliders, root beer float, waffle cone with brisket, and hawg fries with BBQ chicken. Hawg Fries with BBQ Chicken - $7.75 - This dish came with tender pieces of BBQ chicken on top of a bed of fries, all of this was topped with some cole slaw and BBQ sauce. I enjoyed the smoky flavor of the chicken. Waffle Cone with Brisket - $5.75 - The waffle cone is so reasonably priced at $4.75. There is a $1 up charge for getting the brisket option. This consisted of a waffle cone filled with mac and cheese, brisket, a scoop of mashed potatoes and some BBQ sauce drizzled on top. All of this was served on a waffle stand and is a must get treat here! The creativity of this dish is pure genius! Sliders $10.75 - The 3 sliders are normally $8.75, but there is a $2 up charge for getting the brisket. The pricing is extremely reasonable given the amount of meat served between the 3 mini brioche buns. The tender and juicy pieces of brisket are topped with some crispy cole slaw and a drizzle of BBQ sauce. The brisket here is the real deal, it was so G-O-O-D and delicious! Root Beer Float ($3.75) - The root beer here is freshly brewed in house. It tastes amazing and is a lot stronger than ones typically found at grocery stores. This came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. One could just order a plain root beer for $2. Overall, this is some of the BEST BBQ I have tried! Also, the BBQ chicken was served diced? Wasn't what I was expecting. Most of all, I wished that the mac and cheese was creamier and cheesier. This mac and cheese was rather dry (like just yellow colored elbow macaroni), and again, a touch too sweet. The cole slaw, on the other hand, was overly gloppy. They have all your standard BBQ meats here such as chicken, baby back ribs, pulled pork, tri-tip and brisket. For sides, they have mac & cheese, baked beans, garlic mashed potatoes, homemade cornbread and a coconut creamed corn that sounds intriguing. I wasn't too hungry, so I got their BBQ Waffle Cone ($4.75). This is such a clever dish! It's a waffle cone filled with mac & cheese and your choice of meat topped with a a scoop of mashed potatoes and drizzled with BBQ sauce. I chose pulled pork (beef is an extra $1) and it was really moist with a nice smoky flavor. The mashed potatoes were tasty and not too garlicky. The mac & cheese was creamy but a little bland. Ordered two full racks of baby back ribs and got four sides-- mac & cheese, baked beans, french fries, and creamed corn. Let's start with the ribs, nothing special. The ribs are super tough and not tender at all. The smoky flavor and the bbq sauce used were solid though and somewhat made up for the lack of juiciness. If you're craving baby back ribs these won't knock out that craving unfortunately. The french fries were soggy by the time the order was delivered to our house (15 mins later). The baked beans were standard baked beans. The mac & cheese pasta was very flimsy and tasted soggy almost? The mixture of cheeses and seasonings to make it was solid. Not super cheese, but tasted a little smoky which was a nice touch. Lastly, the creamed corn was EXTREMELY sweet. Too sweet for my liking and the cream itself was on too much of the solid or viscous side for my liking. Very average experience eating here. A little less than average given the total price for the meal to feed 3 people turned out to be $90+ after tipping. Hence the final review of 2 stars. 09.13.2019 Craving some bbq... Every Friday the 13th they have a $20 rack of ribs with cornbread special with $5 pint sides or $10 quart sides. The three of us ate this over two meals. The rub on the ribs were sweet and flavorful. The sauce went well and it was nice to dip the ribs in the sauce and not having the sauce slathered all over the ribs. The cornbread was a bit dry for me. Maybe we can try the rolls next time... The mac & cheese was DELICIOUS!!! We will definitely be back for more ribs and the mac & cheese. I thought pricing here was very reasonable. The meat quality were all good and flavorful. We all left pretty stuffed and satisfied. This place is very casual. You order at the register and grab your food when its ready. The girl at the counter was pretty helpful. Had the knuckle sandwich with the fried egg and tri tip with the Mac n cheese as my side. Sandwich overall i give a 7 out of 10. There are a few tables if you wish to dine in. They offer numerous sauces, including a paleo sauce for those who are following the Paleo way of life. I have had the brisket, ribs, tri-tip, mac and cheese, potato salad, corn bread and rolls. I would definitely recommend the brisket, ribs, potato salad, mac and cheese and the cornbread. Brew Hawg is a great BBQ place our friend told us about. Today my husband went for the Friday the 13th special. According to him, the place smelled incredible. He got there early and chatted with the owner Leo, who was so nice and offered him soda while he waited on the food. He was even able to get the food a bit early. We ordered 2 racks of Baby Back Ribs, Mac-n-Cheese, Potato Salad, Smoked Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Coconut Creamed Corn. Even though I don't eat meat the ribs smelled so good. A little pricy but honestly they're undercharging you for this beautiful meat palace. It's a little hidden from the general public, tucked away in a shopping/food center but golly I'm glad I found it. The pulled pork is beautifully tender, the mashed taters are godly. The mac and cheese is cheesy and just the right amount of peppery, beautifully cheesed and seasoned. The brisket, delicious. Brisket (5/5) - really soft and melted in my mouth - not too saucy Tri-Tip (2/5) - really chewy, there was a major difference between the tri-tip and brisket. For some reason, they are cut into extremely tiny pieces - it tasted overcooked and i recommend you stick to other meat Sides were all solid! The potato salad was flavorful and creamy, and the mac n cheese wasn't too pungent. I recommend then both. HOWEVER, the cornbread was extremely dry. Like LA winter wind kind of dry, like i need to down a cup of water kind of dry. I don't recommend it!!
