I've lived in Brick for 13 years now and haven't branched out into too many pizza places (Nick's Pizzeria and J&G are usual favorites), but was originally going to try Dennino's just down the street...UNTIL I read the reviews on Yelp. And it's not just the reviews that turned me off, but the comments that the restaurant's owner made to reviewers that made me pass. So I decided to try the "Brick Oven Pizza" place up the street on Mantoloking Road instead. The name isn't anything special, but the food sure is. My order included zeppoles, a truffle pie (sundried tomato, ricotta, mozz, spinach, truffle oil) and canolis. Each item was spectacular when it came to freshness and taste. I was expecting ricotta to be like when you order a "white" or margarita pizza (smoothed out in a layer you can't really distinguish under mozz) but this was NOT the case. There were large fresh dollops of ricotta on each slice and it was delicious. The zeppoles were still hot when I got home and the canolis were clearly freshly made to order and came with a side of chocolate sauce. The owner cheerily thanked me for my business as I left. In my experience, there was NO downside to this place and will regularly come here again to try some of the other menu items. It didn't hurt that they've won the Boss of the Sauce competition locally a few times over either (I used to attend that contest, which was great fun). I highly recommend. read more

Sometimes a restaurant is better than just the food even when the food is just excellent. Those familiar with this restaurant are aware that table space is limited. Reservations are a wise choice especially on a Saturday night, on this night we did, at the time of making our reservation we were placed on hold for awhile but were ultimately confirmed. On arrival it was clear why our reservation took some time, one section of the dining floor was set up for a table of 14. Yes, 14 in a very limited seating area. As we dined I noticed that the tables set for the party of 14 were ( I thought) initially delayed; however as time progressed it became clear that the party was not showing up. From my vantage point I could observe that Jack (owner/chef) was distressed as wethe service staff. Despite this, I observed that he honored the reservation and turned people away who didn't have a reservation, provided personal service to a young customer with a disability and provided reseating to customers who were inconvenienced by the table set up for the party of 14. It is shameful that someone would stiff a small restaurant owner and staff like this on a Saturday night. However, watching him handle this situation, making those there feel special speaks volumes as to why this restaurant is a very special place. read more

Recently moved to brick and right around the corner from brick oven so me and my fiancé decided to stop here and order some takeout. We ended up just getting a pizza and calamari and both were delicious! What really got me was the spicy cherry bomb sauce they had for the calamari wow that stuff is good! Wow, what a great place! Delicious food, pizza and desserts! Very accommodating with big parties as long as you call ahead of time. BLT pizza is a must try-best pie I've ever eaten. Food is all made to order so even when it takes a few extra minutes it is always worth the wait read more

My husband and I recently moved down the street from Brick Oven Restaurant. We had been wanting to try it since we moved here and we drive by it almost every day.. We originally went to sit down and get pizza, but they weren't running the pizza oven due to the heat wave, understandably so...it was HOT! We went ahead and sat down and ordered entrees and some apps. Their food is amazing. Right priced for what you get, portions are huge. Their food is comparable to Italian food you would get on Staten Island or other NYC Boroughs. Delicious! I can't wait to try their pizza. Customer service was great, our waitress was very friendly and made us feel like family. The chef even gave us the recipe for the bread dip when we asked for it, and sent us home with a little extra to enjoy. The venue is small, so if you are going with a group or on the weekend I would make reservations. All in all, a great experience. We will definitely be going back again! BYO read more

This rating is based on dining in. We've always ordered the pizza to go from this place. It's always very good, even though they make you wait longer to pick it up then they say on the phone. We decided to dine in tonight. First of all the service is horrendous we were there for like 2 hours at least just now and we just wanted a quick dinner. They take forever to come to you. It seems like they're very unorganized. A couple that was dining behind us actually ended up getting up and leaving because of how long it was taking for the waitress to come to them!!! I don't blame them! We wanted to do that so bad but we didn't! I got the French onion soup chicken Cesar salad combo and it was horrible. The French onion soup was sooooo sooooo salty and I always love French onion. The person on the other side of us sent theirs back and said they felt like it was going to give them a heart attack!!! The chicken on my Cesar salad was dry and the dressing was extemely fishy... I ordered vanilla bourbon gelato and it was just vanilla ice cream... We are extremely disappointed with this place! If you go here stick to the pizza and if you're dining in make sure you have at least 2 hours to kill plus like 3 bottles of wine and bring your own water because you will be thirsty by all the salt and the water will take forever to come to you!!! read more

I ordered 2 pies over the phone for pick up. One was pepperoni, the other was sausage. They told me it would be ready in 20 minutes. I arrived to pick up 25 minutes later - my pizzas weren't even in the oven and there was only one table seated in the place, so they were not even close to busy. It cost $28 and the pizza was so undercooked it was almost inedible. I thought if I re-heated it in my oven, it would cook a bit more, but it was so mushy and left an awful taste in my mouth for the rest of the night. The regular menu seems very expensive. I think I'll just stick with Denino's which is right down the block. read more

My family and I have been coming here for at least three years during the summers, and we swear by Mantoloking Brick Oven. It is our standby restaurant here at the shore. The pizza is the best around which is a high bar considering the number of quality Italian restaurants in the area. The sauce is amazing and the crust perfect. Tonight we had the Trenton extra crispy with garlic and it was great! Buffalo shrimp, while off the menu, can still be made and are fantastic. Also I would recommend drunken clams and sole from the specials. We look forward to continuing to come here with family and friends for a long time to come! read more

Passed this restaurant nearly everyday and noticed parking lot consistantly full. Made me curious why so I decided to try it out. Well, we ordered a pizza for takeout and was pleasantly surprised how good it was. Even my picky husband liked it. The sauce was delicious, crust was thin but not rubbery and the pie was ready when we picked it up. Looking forward to having another pizza from there. Might even try dining in after this crazy busy holiday weekend. read more

There are restaurants that remain dear to our hearts forever and the Brick Oven is one of them . We have been coming for years with family members! It has become my son's favorite restaurant at the Jersey Shore! The onion soup is a must as is the pizza! The prices are great also. This restaurant remains a special place to go. This is a small restaurant but it's probably the best I ever I had! NEVER had a bad meal here! Actually always had the best meals ever! I will say it's not the most romantic setting but it has the best artichoke francaise! I had the grouper tonight and it was excellent! absolutely love their pizza....but I may never dine there again: Tonight I went in to pick up a pizza and chicken fingers. Since I didn't have a menu, I went online to their website to order. While I was on line, I noticed the pizza was !0.95 and the Kids chicken fingers was 5.95. when I got there, they charged me 2.00 more for my order claiming their current menu has different prices. I then went onto my phone and open up their website to show the waitress the prices and that I should have an adjustment on the price. 2.00 or not, it is now just the principal of advertising. I asked to waitress to ask the owner. About 5 minutes the owner/cook came out and without saying a word, slapped 1.00 on the table and went back into the kitchen. I actually began to get very upset and told the waitress that was the last time I would come into that restaurant. He was an arrogant S.O.B who has no people skills and never learned that the customer is always right. read more
