After a busy morning of appointments, I decided to go this spot. I got the sope Benedict and it was delicious. Service was great and the mood here is comfy. It reminds me of a spot I'd be if on vacation. It took my worries away for a little bit! The kid meal is worth every bit, fluffy pancake and eggs. I left overly satisfied and had leftovers for the day. Price is budget friendly and don't forget to sign in for rewards!

Overall, the experience was okay. I felt like the menu sounded better than the food tasted. My husband's Sope Benedict was more enjoyable than my Fiesta Burrito. The Sope Benedict, featuring fried sopes filled with shredded beef and topped with poached eggs, homemade ranchero sauce, sliced avocado, fresh salsa, cotija cheese, and sour cream, was flavorful. In contrast, my Fiesta Burrito, which included scrambled eggs with onion, bell pepper, tomato, shredded beef, and cheddar cheese wrapped in a flour tortilla and smothered in homemade salsa verde, had too much cheese and the green salsa was not as expected.

Broken Yolk is such a solid brunch spot in OC. We came in for brunch and everything we ordered was delicious with really generous portions. We got the Tiki Toast, Golden State Benedict, Ranchero Skillet with sunny side eggs, mimosa flights, and a strawberry smoothie. The Tiki Toast was fluffy, sweet. The Golden State Benedict (my fave) was rich and creamy with perfectly cooked eggs and super flavorful. The Ranchero Skillet was super filling. Service was friendly and attentive, food came out quickly, and the overall vibe was really fun and welcoming. There's plenty of seating and parking too. Definitely a spot we'd come back to for brunch again.

First time at this location on a Sunday for brunch and happily we didn't have to wait longer than 5 minutes! We sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful weather. Our waiter was Alex and he was very friendly and helpful with menu items. The food was very yummy! I had the smoked salmon Benedicts and my friend had the California omelette. Their home style potatoes seemed more like messy hash browns (we had to double check with waiter) but otherwise good. Very happy with experience!

Love coming here. Their blueberry muffins come out nice and warm where the butter just melts right in! They are super yummy. Also their breakfasts are really good. Had the chorizo omelette which was pretty tasty, although was a little sad it did not automatically come with sour cream. However, it does come with a little bit of guacamole on top of it. Enjoyed the home fried potatoes as they had the right balance of crispiness but not too crispy. The iced tea is very refreshing. It comes in a very large cup which is nice compared to some places that come in a tiny cup. I also enjoyed the fact that they did not rush us out the door when we came in 30 minutes before closing. My husband had pancakes and added banana to them and he was surprised by the size of the pancake and really enjoyed it as well as the sausage. I ordered bacon and asked for extra crispy and when it did arrive, it was not crispy so I did have to ask to make it crispier. They did and it was perfect. I enjoyed our server as he did a great job. We will definitely return here. Be sure to join their rewards program so that you can earn discounts and free items. Also, if you come on a weekend, be sure to join their wait-list on the app or website. The place is clean and can get a bit noisy when they are busy. But overall eating here is an enjoyable experience.

So, I think I'm rating this spot up to a four star based mostly on the coffee... My wife and I met a friend couple here and overall it is a good place to get some good food. I got a Golden State Benedict and it was quite good. I can't say it was great as I'm probably a more traditionalist when it comes to eggs Benedict. This one had avocado with bacon on English muffins, hollandaise sauce and Sriracha which seemed like a good combination and is what drew me in. My wife got lemon ricotta pancakes with blueberries. I tried a bite and they were good but again not great. And she did get a couple bites with onion which is not good while eating pancakes. The place is busy and the interior is very loud so if you're going to meet with people ask to be seated outside so you can hear each other. The outside area is nice but the chairs are a heavy metal which makes getting seated and getting up a bit problematic. The service was pretty good and very helpful. We went late morning so I did see some lunch items going past us and the club sandwich as well as the burgers looked quite tasty. The coffee was definitely worthwhile for sure. We both got the messy caramel latte and enjoyed them. We'll go back and try lunch next time.

Nice outdoor patio! Inside can be kind of loud when it's busy. We had Mom's and Meat Lovers omelettes, both very good. Spinach was super fresh tasting. We mentioned it was our anniversary and our server Sabino brought out a surprise plate of a fresh baked muffin with whipped cream.

The greatest banana pancakes ever!!! Service was impeccable. David was attentive and our coffee and water was always full. The coffee is so good! What a pleasant breakfast we just had and we will definitely be back.

The prices were good, but the food was bland. I believe I got the avocado toast and it was just too much avocado. It was very messy and needed more seasoning. Bae got the steak and eggs, and it was so lackluster. Steak tasted like sadness and the eggs were overcooked. Hash browns were a little better with some crunch. Crowded spot with good portions, but that's about it. There's better breakfast spots in Costa Mesa for sure. It's a family friendly environment with balloon artists walking around and coloring books available, but if you're looking for a spot with tasty food, I cannot recommend this.

Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew (Fall Cravings Menu)

A solid, classic breakfast/brunch spot! They don't take reservations, but weekends are always crowded here! Plenty of parking in the shopping plaza's large lot. They also have both indoor and outdoor seating. The menu is quite extensive, so I can see why it's a great spot for families and groups. They literally offer all-things breakfast related--benedicts, omelets, pancakes, waffles, French toast, crepes, skillets, "South of the Border" dishes, and more. I enjoyed the dishes I tried from the "South of the Border" section of the menu. They do a good Chilaquiles Bowl! It comes with corn tortillas, red or green sauce (you can also ask for both!), jack cheese, two eggs, red onion, cilantro, and sour cream. Very tasty, and the portion size is huge! I also liked their Sope Benedict. This comes with two thick, crispy corn tortillas filled with shredded beef and topped with poached eggs, ranchero sauce, sliced avocado, salsa, cotija cheese, and sour cream. The beef is tender and flavorful. It also comes with a side item. The Hash Skillet is good as well. It comes with homefried potatoes, corned beef hash, onions, and bell peppers. Then it's topped with scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese, chopped bacon, and green onions. There's a lot going on in this skillet, but it works! It's basically all the classic breakfast ingredients throw into one plate. Lastly, I'd recommend the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes! I'm usually a savory breakfast person, but it was nice to add on a short stack (2) of pancakes for a little sweetness. The pancakes are quite large, so I would recommend splitting it with someone! They were very fluffy and come with blueberries, a lemon wedge, and are dusted with powdered sugar. Our server also brought us some butter, and there's syrup available on the table.

I've been wanting to try this place for a while, and I'm so glad we finally did today! The food was amazing, and the service was incredibly fast. Our server Carlos F took great care of us--he checked in often and gave excellent recommendations. The atmosphere was welcoming and felt like the perfect family breakfast spot. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be coming back!

Flower balloon from balloon artist at Broken Yolk
    Erin C.

Considering we went on a Saturday morning at prime brunch hour, the wait to be seated was only 20 mins. With that though, the restaurant was very loud with lots of chatter from surrounding tables. The food took a long while to get to our table. I ordered the chicken & waffles Benedict, absolutely delicious! My family ordered the Californian omelette and fried chicken & eggs and they said it was mediocre. What really stood out during our visit was the balloon artist who visited our table! She made a super cute pink and purple flower for my one year old. My baby loved it! All in all, it was a good experience!

They have an expansive list of coffee, tea, and lattes with several modifiers to choose from. To accompany your drink the menu provides options of sandwiches, bagels, and a variety of pastries. I had the smoked salmon bagel, featuring delicate slices of salmon layered over cream cheese spread, topped with capers and fresh chives. This is my go to for coffee houses that offer it. The bagel exceeded my expectations and I believe the chive's subtle flavor complemented the smoked salmon really well. For drinks we tried the chai and hot chocolate. The iced chai latte was smooth and not too sweet with a dusting of cinnamon on top, but I would rate it average in taste. The hot chocolate was deliciously velvety and detailed beautifully. I would rate it a five out of five! The difference at this coffee shop is that you can choose from a range of seating arrangements and have an opportunity to support the business by picking up clothing, a bag of coffee or other merchandise. The con for this coffee shop is that the beverages are somewhat undersized relative to the price point. In addition, the customer service experience fell short. We were greeted upon entering, but it was unclear where customers should retrieve their order or whether orders numbers were called out. With that said, those looking for a quiet morning coffee or a cozy place to catch up with friends, this spot can accommodate.

Their banana pudding is DIVINE, it is on the sweeter side but it's homemade and you fs tell! They also make their syrups in houseee! I tried the House chai but I ended up prefering the Kashimiri Chai! I'll def be coming back for more since the staff kept raving about their coffee. Sarah and Patrick were the sweetest! Service was top tier, so friendly! and they gave me reccomendations based on my taste. I wasn't familiar with the menu and they gently guided me through my questions.

The bathrooms are also exceptionally clean and well-maintained, which always makes a long study session much more comfortable. My only real complaint was the wait time and communication. I ordered a drink and went to sit outside to get some work done. After it took quite a while for my order to come out, a staff member finally came outside to inform me that they had actually run out of yuzu. It felt a little disorganized and off that it took so long just to realize they were out of an ingredient. Despite the awkward ordering delay, the overall environment is excellent. It's a great, clean space to be productive, and I'd definitely give it another chance.

Instead of sleeping through the night, they bleated at the moon until it set. Chewing some of the cherries himself, the goater found himself quite energetic. He brought the fruits to a monastery. The monks thought the fruit was from the devil and cast them into a fire. The aroma of roasted coffee cherries intoxicated the monks and they steeped the now brown cherries in Holy Water. This is the story of the Moon Goats. Now what is more satisfying than a delicious pour over? Combine that with an authentic southern biscuit and you've bought yourself a quick entry into nirvana. Very nice ambiance in Moongoat. You can purchase any of the plants in the shop. I even saw a family with children carrying books to read whilst they relaxed and had their coffee and pastries. How nice to see children not using a phone to keep themselves disengaged from their parents. That's the kind of crowd the comes to Moongoat. I like the tables that are reserved for people that are actually dining, not just using the store as an office to conduct business.

I ordered the Hojicha Latte, and it tasted very watered down. The color was also much darker than I expected, which made the drink even more disappointing. My coworker ordered a matcha latte and asked for vanilla to be added, but they accidentally added it to my drink instead. Unfortunately, her matcha also tasted off. Overall, the customer service was excellent, but the drinks didn't live up to our expectations. I was really looking forward to an afternoon pick-me-up, so it was disappointing.

They offer a few seasonal items and a standard menu of lattes, teas, etc. Today I ordered the morning melt and the coconut latte. The coconut latte is delish and tastes like summer. The morning melt is also really good. So many flavors from the egg, turkey, and arugula. Next time I'll opt for the sauce on the side and put a little less so it's not so drippy. Still super tasty! Thanks for providing a relaxing vibe :)

Checked this spot out since I was staying at the hotel nearby…read more.. What a neat little spot! Can almost call it a hidden gem! Despite being relatively close to two major colleges - OCC and UCI - this place wasn't as crowded as you'd imagine it would be. They serve coffee, matcha, breakfast foods like breakfast burritos, protein bowls, avocado toasts - but I didn't pick anything to eat since I already had lunch. I shared with the barista that it was my first time here, and he asked what type of drink I was looking for. I told him something iced and caffeinated - and he mentioned his favorite was the Honey Cinnamon Latte - which I opted for - iced, with oat milk. Total was $8.50 including tip. My iced Honey Cinnamon Latte was yummy, creamy, and fantastic! With the oat milk substitute, it sorta tasted like Cinnamon Toast Crunch in liquid coffee form. It wasn't overly sweet, definitely had a nice kick to it - love this recommendation by the barista! I checked out the rest of the space and used their restroom to wash my hands - it's really a neat space here. Lots of seating. Lots of space. There's an adjacent room that's connected to the cafe called "Flow Space" - which is utilized for small popups and arts & crafts. Neat spot for smaller community members to showcase their wares. Some of the other reviews mentioned no a/c - which had me worried considering we were having a bit of a heatwave lately - but to my pleasant surprise, A/C was on and cold! It was a great escape from the heat. Free wifi - fast enough for a zoom call if you need to hop into one - my speedtest reported download speeds of 17.5MB/s Restroom is clean and well maintained. Plenty of parking - of course, I stopped by a little after 2pm, so already avoiding the tail end of the lunch rush. Only downside is they close kinda early - 4pm - but open up at 7am. Great spot! Will probably be my go-to considering there's ample workspace, plenty of parking, less crowded than other coffee spots in the immediate area. I'm curious to try their matcha the next time I'm here, as well as possibly their breakfast burritos, since photos for that looks delicious.
