I was excited about trying out this local cafe and left disappointed. The overall ambiance was nice. It's clean, spacious, and new. The service was also great. Our server was very attentive and constantly checked in. The food however was what I found to be subpar. I ordered the chilaquiles, one of my favorite breakfast dishes. It was submerged in salsa verde so the tortilla chips were soggy on arrival. It was topped with two undercooked eggs. It also comes with shredded chicken or beef. I opted for the chicken which frankly tasted like it was several days old and lacked freshness. I had digestive issues immediately after leaving! Sadly I will not be returning. read more

This is my second time visiting Broken Yolk for breakfast. I ordered one of their delicious eggs Benedict dishes. My dish featured one California Stat and the other, Border Benedict which was topped with a delicious poblano sauce. The food was wonderful but what elevated the experience was my server, Daniel. He was always smiling, extremely attentive and interesting to talk to. He shared that he was in the process of working towards a master degree in social work. We just had family brunch here, with a large party of 7. The wait to be seated was a little long but once we were seated the service was great. This location down right sucks. Service sucks. Waitress messed up on 3 out of our 6 orders which in turn had us wait longer for our food. We spoke to the manager who was pretty nice and awesome at helping us from there. Seating staff pretty uncordinated. The staff seem to not be on the same page. Honestly we've ate at the Costa Mesa spot which is pretty good staff and food, but this one is closer to us but never again. They really need to have a group meeting or intervention.... Food came out cold or messed up orders. Adding eggs when my nephew is allergic even after we told the waitress twice before she put in the order. Recently-opened, the place is still finding its way. Service was ok, but a bowl of oatmeal was served cold and three 2-egg breakfasts were served barely warm (more like tepid): eggs, hash browns and meats were cold by the time we finished up. Hopefully they'll get their act together as the former Panera location has been completely gutted and remade into a bright and inviting breakfast spot. Will go back in a month or two and see if it has improved. read more
