This is set in the golf course next to the Rose Bowl. We've been here many time over the last 25 years. It's our go to place for breakfast. We haven't been going out because of Covid. Last night my wife said I would love a waffle at Brookside. I called this morning and was happy to find that they where serving on the patio. I really like Brookside. They've come along way from back in the days. The prices are competitive, the food is tasty, and the service is also good. Must try Chop Chop Salad and Nacho Grande with beef. They are both so delicious! Nachos are served in huge and super heavy skillet. Beef inside is so juicy and tender. Vegetables in salad are so fresh and crunchy. Dressing is so delicious that I couldn't stop eating. It is perfect for after round of golf with family and friends or even on any of the regular occasions. Don't forget to order some beers, too. They go perfect with these dishes. Don't forget to order Meat Lovers for breakfast when you come over to eat before noon. That's really delicious, too. Servers are all friendly and attentive. If you decide to sit at patio area.... We moved into the area a year ago and have spent most of our weekends searching for our perfect "Weekend Breakfast Restaurant." That search ended a couple of months back when we stumbled across the Brookside Gold Course Restaurant. The food is FANTASTIC, generous portions, and at the most reasonable prices we've found anywhere in Los Angeles. My wife and I get out for under $30 for the both of us (tip included). It also offers a wonderful view of the course and the staff is always very friendly and gracious (Janelle is our favorite server, always greeting us with enthusiasm and a genuine smile). A "meh" restaurant attached to a city golf course for captive golfers who don't want to bother driving to another legit restaurant after playing 18 holes of golf. Nothing great or bad in term of food quality and taste. They are just average with a typical diner menu and a bunch of beer selection. Service can be spotty on a busy weekend afternoon. I came awhile back for a lunch meeting. Sort of a strange parking situation. I parked on the street very close to the restaurant. I suggest that if you are coming during the week for lunch. If this place is busy on the weekends, it may be easier to valet. The restaurant is quite large and based on the colleagues I met up with who frequent the restaurant, it has recently been remodeled. They were very impressed with it, I didn't think it looked all that amazing but don't know what it looked like before. It was quiet and easy to have a conversation which was my favorite part of being here along with the pleasant view of the golf course greens and trees. Very nice setting for lunch. I was here after some good rain storms so I can't attest to it being green year round or anything. The food was only okay. I had a club sandwich which is my standard lunch at a new restaurant if it's on the menu. Tasted home made which is good in most cases, but literally like I had gone into my own kitchen and attempted making a club sandwich. That's how it looked too. (That's not a compliment by the way) I should have ordered either of the items my colleagues had, their food looked much better. Service was very good though. Got our food order in fairly quickly, food came out quickly as well. Can't complain about that. If someone asked me to meet them here, I'd come but it wouldn't be my recommendation or choice. read more

Went to a meeting here with catered breakfast and lunch. Room was ok, chairs outdated uncomfortable. Bathrooms filthy, I think they allow the public walking around the Rose Bowl to use. Building is tired and outdates. Neat pictures and posters of Pasadena's past. Food sub par. Fried potoatoes mushy and soft, eggs in bulk overcooked and not seasoned. Bacon super crispy, but I like it that way. Passed on link sausage. Breads look like they came from Smart and Final. Large bowls with hard cream cheese and butter. Wondered how many times they had been repurposed. Bowls of ice cold shredded cheese I guess for the eggs. Coffee decent. Lunch, moist chicken breast, overcooked vegetables, yucky mashed potatoes and gravy from a can. Cheese cake was ok, but clearly not made in house. Catering staff set up their tables for lunch in front of people's bags against the wall. Talk about not having your head in the game. I had to go under a table to get my purse. read more

Horrible service. The server was terrible. She was grumpy and made two mistakes on an easy breakfast order for two. My daughter and I ordered 2 avocado toast. We asked how the egg is prepared. She said "what to do mean? It's cooked." Rude. We asked for the egg to be completely cooked; not over easy. Told her specifically that we don't like runny yokes. We also ordered a side of fruit. The order took forever even though the restaurant was almost completely empty. Three servers, one hostess but everyone waiting for food. The eggs were cooked incorrectly. They had a runny yoke and we didn't get the fruit. She was so grumpy and it took so long to get the food, so we decided not to complain about the eggs. Just didn't eat them. Also, she never gave us the fruit. I decided to forgo the fruit but wanted to see if she will charge us for it. Sure as sh_ _, she charged us for the fruit. When we brought it to her attention, she didn't say sorry. Just "showed attitude" and took the receipt. It took a long time for her to make the correction. Just horrible. On another note. The avocado toast is very good. Spicy but good. If you don't like it spicy and don't like overeasy eggs, make sure to have the server write it down. I hope the management reads this Yelp. The Brookside Golf Club has a restaurant and it's actually decent, and you don't have to play golf to enjoy it! While the food is the usual fare, brunch consists of omelettes and pancakes, lunch is sandwiches and salads. We went on a Saturday morning and had the eggs benedict, which tasted fine, but you could tell from the slightly hardened hollandaise sauce that it had been sitting for a while. We also had a breakfast sandwich, which was a bit too greasy, but not bad. The set comes with a choice of side also, and we chose hash browns. The outdoor patio had a nice view of the greens and was comfortable, except for the constant interruptions from the birds who seem to never go away. Our server was Nelson (according to the receipt) and he was excellent, attentive, polite and professional. Prices are normal, everything on the menu was less than $10 except for the steak and eggs, and it was nice and quiet. read more

My husband and held our wedding reception at Brookside and wanted to stop by for brunch over the weekend to reminisce on the good time we had there. Parking isn't always ideal as Brookside is a part of the Rose Bowl which attracts an array of people. However, for one reason or another we always seem to find parking not too far away. We came by on a Sunday afternoon and apparently Brookside is the happening brunch place. We put our name down and waited a good 15 minutes which wasn't too given the size of the crowd. The crowd is interesting; you will see women waiting for their men as they hit some balls, walkers/joggers/runners grabbing a bite after their run, and golfers hanging out after/before their games. I got the Eggs Benedict ($10) and my husband got the Range Omelet ($11.50). We were both satisfied with our meals but wouldn't say it's anything to write home about. Overall, the service and food was decent and came at a reasonable price. If you're already at the Rose Bowl and need an option for food it will surely be convenient and satisfy your needs. I do think we will come back and try it for dinner. I think it would be a nice perk to see the sunset over the greenery while we eat. read more

So we went again yesterday and I was excited to see that the Fish & Chips were back on the menu after being gone for a year. I excitedly asked our server if it was the same dish they had before, meaning prepared the same way, and she said yes. So I ordered it. Now, if you read my previous review you know that I always used to come here and order the Fish & Chips. The batter was this flaky, panko style batter w a slightly sweet taste- perfect w the slight saltiness of the tasty fish. And the fries were the shoes string fries. All fried food, but w the tangy coleslaw balancing it. Well, imagine the look on my face when my food came. First, it was on a metal tray- maybe they were going for the gastropub look but kinda not expected at a golf course restaurant. And the food was wrapped in a paper "cone"- again meant to be fun and gastropub-y but failing in that environment. The fries were the thick, steak fries too and there was no cole slaw. I had to order that extra- which I did. And thankfully it was the same cole slaw as before. The fish itself wasn't the same either, this batter was the thin beer batter you find at most places that serve fish & chips. And the fish itself had no taste. I was so disappointed I almost cried into my tasteless Bloody Mary- I know first world problems. What confounds me is that my husband's chicken quesadilla was the same dish he always gets here (and we've been coming for years) so I don't understand why some things were changed and some remained the same w the new chef/menu. And now the service- smh. Our server seemed hurried and frazzled and we let it go because maybe she was just having a bad day. But throughout our meal we noticed that she never smiled at us, she was nice to the table next to us, even to the point of almost running our cc card for their bill when another server had to give it to her (because she never came back to check on us). We sat there wondering if we had done something wrong- I didn't complain about the fish & chips, or lack of used to be included cole slaw, I just ordered it. And didn't complain when my husband's side of fries didn't come out til the end of the meal. And turns out these fries were the THIN shoe string fries that used to be in the original fish & chips dish (go figure why they changed it when they still had the thin fries). So I don't know why. 1 star because the manager was nice to us, checked on our table and grabbed another ketchup bottle for us and waters- plus I overheard him w the other servers and he seemed on top of things, nice. And because since the restaurant is "attached" to the golf course another 1 star since we've always had good experiences w the golf course staff and golf pros/coaches. I don't know if we'll be eating at the restaurant again though. read more

We decided to stop in on a beautiful Saturday afternoon for some food and we really enjoyed the seating on the patio overlooking the coy pond and the golf course. The food was enjoyable, but we really loved the attention and service we received from our server, AJ. He was so attentive and really wonderful to us during our meal. Our cups were always filled, our orders were perfectly served and we were given incredibly friendly service throughout the meal. Prices were also decent. Not sure about the service however. The waitress we had had this fake smile and didn't seem nice though she did her part by refilling my water once. Still the staff were not very attentive. I had to change my original review. This place has stepped things up in a MAJOR way. In my last review I said that this place had so much ambiance that it was a shame for the service not to match. I kept coming and I have brought new friends over in the last few weeks and they were happy as well. The food is great and the atmosphere was already there. What has improved the most is the service. The last 5 servers I have had were so personable and really cared about what they were bringing to your table. I am not embarrassed to admit that I have been there 2x just this week. My family and I eat here most weekends. Breakfast and lunch selection is typical but better than most golf course restaurants. The outdoor seating is also nice and comfortable. Food quality could be better. Wait staff is friendly and curteous. One thing that rubbed me the wrong way is that their pastrami sandwich is served in a hot dog bun, unless you ask for a different bun. Chicken club with fries is probably their best choice for lunch. Fish and chips were dissappointing. Corned beef hash with poached eggs are good, but small portioned. Of the 20-30 times I've eaten here, I can only think of 1 or 2 times I was disappointed in service or quality. read more

The quality of the food is really good overall even though the place is kind of let out. I personally think that they need to keep the place a little bit cleaner and also have better staffing. Just finished eating here with my family, it was not a fun experience. Our server did what she could but she was basically on her own and set up for failure. Her coworkers were not helpful to her at all, didn't go around and check for waters or refills, just stood behind the counter looking at their phones or talking amongst themselves. One of them was the manager, so I guess that's that. If the manager doesn't check or hold employees accountable, you can't expect much.
