I contacted Brower Mechanical, via Yelp, to inquire about maintenance of my gas heater located in the garage. Courtney handled my request efficiently, rapidly and most courteously. I selected an appointment the next afternoon between noon and 4 p.m. (Friday). About 3:30, I received a call from my technician, Jose Arreola advising me he would be arriving within a half hour. Upon arrival, Jose explained what he was going to do and quickly started his maintenance. It was obviously, a very thorough and complete inspection/maintenance as he was here for over two hours. Upon completion of his work, he explained his findings. He gave a thorough explanation of what details he found as this is an old unit (my words, not Jose). I'm considering additional work on my furnace, due to his recommendation. I liked that he did not pressure work to be done or replacement of the unit. In all honesty, a company with a Technician as knowledgeable, personable and courteous as Jose Arreola, is a well run organization that cares about its customers, as well as its employees. I selected Brower Mechanical, as this company replaced my electric furnace at my first home around 2000. They did an outstanding job then (clean, quick and superb results). Be warned. Update: Brower sent a technician to address my concerns (see photos on original post) and after the installation initially failed to pass code. The second technician, Sean, improved the appearance and connected the second stage which wasn't activating, making it quieter and functional. However, we still have to remove the closet door plate to change the filter due to the initial crew's oversight. Despite Sean's efforts, I'm not confident in the overall work and may seek a second opinion. We have not heard back to verify if this passed code the 2nd time, so I will call the city. Changing back to 1 star. These guys are the worst. Unbelievably crappy work and service and so expensive. read more

Brower Mechanical installed an amazing heat pump system in our house about a year ago for the heating and cooling and also a heat pump water heater. It's worked out great for us! We were able to cut our gas bill down from an average of $150 a month down to $5--which is just our gas cooktop! This week we had our annual checkup and Juan Vasquez was the tech. He came by and checked everything out and said everything looks great! He even replaced the filter in the HVAC that I had purchased as said he would continue to replace them for me, even if I don't buy the filters from them (I've got a stash to last a couple of years!).He put little booties on before he came in the house (that was a nice touch) and cleaned up very carefully when he was done! I was having a problem where I wasn't getting 240v on my dryer outlet. Ruben Arvayo came out, quickly troubleshooted the issue and replaced the part. The issue was related to the Generac smart module for the dryer. I have a Generac generator installed at my home. I also had questions in regards to my Generac generator and supporting equipment. Ruben took the extra time to answer my questions which was very helpful. Ruben called me in advance to let me know he was on his way and what time he would arrive. He was right on time and very professional. If I have issues in the future I will definitely be calling Brower Mechanical. read more

Brower no longer services these units, The technician, Mark, did not put furniture he had to move back, didn't know much about the unit. couldn't complete the service call and now the unit is not functioning. I am a first time client, and I could not be more pleased and satisfied with this company. Our a/c died and they were recommended as being an excellent choice to help. They sent a technician quickly. He spent a lot of time assessing the unit, figuring out the issue, and answering questions. Derrick is very knowledgeable, and very friendly. Turns out we needed a new unit. There was a special promotion going on which fit our needs perfectly. He helped rush our install. We thought it would be the following Thursday, but thanks to him, the install was done on the prior Saturday and took 3 hours less than expected. The installers were also friendly, efficient, and patient with questions. They went above and beyond and even fixed my fence door which wasnot even a part of the install. They left things cleaner than they were before they started. I have nothing but praise for this company and everyone I dealt with, including a receptionist who was also friendly and knowledgeable. I love these guys. Their salesman actually remembers me from the first time I used them to install central heating and air in my first house and then again when I had them replace the heating and air in my second house. I have referred them to both my sister, brother and my nephew. I also just recently referred to my supervisor who is looking to replace her units with new. I also had them come out to my son's house wherein he was advised by another company that he needed a whole new unit. The repair guy from Brower came out and was able to fix the unit and advised them it did not yet need to be replaced and charged a nominal service fee which was better than having to pay thousands for a new unit. Whenever I have an issue with either heating or Air, Brower Mechanical is my go to company. They are the best, hands down. The staff is friendly and professional. read more

So...my heater started acting up at my work office right after I attempted to install a Google Nest Thermostat. Of course, the first person/place I contacted was Brower Mechanical because I knew that the tech, Sonny would be able to take care of it! And I was right in that aspect. Brower Mechanical was able to send out a tech to my office...within the HOUR, and as it happened, it was Sonny again. Worst experience ever! Brower never properly installed our Trane heat/air unit. For over 10 years they sent mechanic after mechanic out to "repair" unit. Never could fix it or figure out problem. Finally one educated mechanic (who no longer works for them) realized the unit wasn't getting enough "return air" so we had to install a 3rd air return duct to the unit to work properly (after 10 years!) The unit never could get our house to low 80's when it was 100 degrees out. They always said our 2700sq.ft house was maximum capacity for the 5 Ton unit. After installing 3rd air duct, instead of moving unit back next to house, Brower mechanics used duct tape and made rows of tape to cover gap. The weather warped that and we got so much debris in unit. Just horrible service. Just replaced it with a new Lennox 5Ton unit. Got a great deal through Costco and the Unit & installers from Sierra Pacific were amazing and educated. The unit can cool our house to the 60's if wanted and everyday we are amazed at how well this was installed and works properly. Costco has great cash back incentives too. Even when Brower knew my compressor was shot and unit needed replacement, they continued to charge me "monthly service fees for maintenance plan." Bad/no communication amongst company employees. Not sure if they'll reimburse me because I was told it was my responsibility to cancel my maintenance plan even though they knew unit didn't work anymore. Just trying to save someone else from 17 years of headaches and 10 years of extra high PGE bills. read more

Our AC went out on July fourth when it was 108+. Thankfully I had a service contract. Brower had it running again in under 24 hours. They even had a very nice live answering the phone on at 9:00 pm July 4. With the service contract I get priority scheduling for service. Can't say enough. read more

This company has been called to my home twice for furnace repair in the last month, purporting to make repairs. They have charged me hundreds of dollars for unnecessary "maintenance" on my furnace to "fix" it, yet utterly failed to diagnose and repair the problem. It is now freezing out, near midnight on a Friday night, I am old, disabled, and shivering in my home. They have not called me back as promised. Two visits, and they still have not fixed my furnace. The extra money that I've been paying monthly for "prompt" service? WASTED. They have drained my money and my furnace is now uselessly broken. Not three days ago I paid hundreds of dollars and they failed to make my heater work. Very scary, and not the way to treat elderly disabled folks. I would not recommend this company. read more

I just started a contract with Brower today and had my heater looked at. Dan was super nice, knowledgeable, and extremely excellent at explaining technical jargon! As someone who loves technical documentation (but on the computers side of things), I can definitely appreciate a handy person who is great at explaining things simply without making me feel stupid in any way whatsoever. I think I asked questions for a good half hour and it was a very nice learning experience. Dan also helped me figure out how to program this old thermostat in the house that I can't find a manual online for lol As someone who is very new to household maintenance, I think the prices are reasonable (I signed up for the Signature Plan), the customer service is fabulous, and I can also appreciate that 1) one of the owners has a radio show called The Brower Home Power Hour (v cute, will need to listen at some point), and 2) they are environmentally conscious, but also not sales sharks trying to sell you things for no reason. They will give you the information, resources, and recommendations that are actually best for you in terms of efficiency and cost. I fully trust their recommendations and expertise. Also on the side, Dan was nice enough to help me lug in a heavy delivery that came in while he was on-site, so EXTRA APPRECIATION for Brower customer service!!! read more
