The smoked salmon tasted like it took a long bath in pickle brine or had a caper-dill-pickle overload. Not my jam if you like classic Nova lox. Everything else was delicious, so I'll be back... just ordering something different next time. Solid spot, minus one star for the surprise fermentation attack.

My arrival at Abby's a half an hour early had me looking for a way to kill time. Brunchies was a couple doors down and I had not had breakfast yet. They opened at 7am. Located on N. Dale Mabry in a busy plaza with a 5 Guys, Starbucks and BBQ place, the plaza houses an interesting array of businesses. Me, I frequent Abby's. There was a diner vibe to the place. A counter dining option was to the left as you entered, a large wide open dining area in the middle as well as 2 separate meeting/dining rooms for groups off to the right. Kitchen at the back and most beverage options behind the dining counter. A well organized place but maybe a tad disheveled. An extensive menu with loads of treats was in fine print so bring your glasses. Lots of delectable options but I found that many basic combos were missing in several categories. They did have the "build your own" option but that makes your basic ham and cheese omelet more expensive. Of the four "go to" items I usually order, none were on the menu. I ended up ordering a cuban sandwich and a cup of coffee, $12 and $5. The cuban came with a side. She offered potatoes but I declined and she then listed the other options. I got a salad. The cuban was small and the taste while good was greasy and not tradionional. If I had to describe, I would say the salami tasted like a sharp pepperoni. I ate my salad, drank my coffee and ate half a sandwich. Took the rest home, it was dinner. My experience was tarnished at the end when I got my bill and with tip, was $27. I examined my bill and found I was charged $4 for my salad, my side item. That left me fuming. I paid the bill, did not complain. I blame the server who should have told me that a salad, which she listed as a side option, was an upcharge of $4. To me, that's dishonest. Reminds me of servers that do not tell you a 20% gratuity is part of the bill and watch you add another 20%. Not planning to go back. Things like that ruffle my feathers! Most reviewers have good things to say.

Service is usually on point. Kessie is my favorite! I usually get the Brunchies club. I like the Benedicts, too, but they do not always cook the eggs the way I like them. It also can get really loud in the main room. The acoustics are a bit off. All said and done, this is one of my go-to places for brunch.

Brunchies has a delightful warmth, a very family-friendly atmosphere that was pretty busy during the Sunday brunch rush. The menu presented a decent variety of options, from the menu items I had there could be some improvement. The short stack pancakes were dry for me, a touch of butter or more flavor could elevate the dish as well. The lavender lemonade had more of a syrupy taste. Adding a few lemons slices improved the overall drink, I would add more lemon and water to the drink to dilute teh syrup a little. My main I chose and enjoyed was the Eggs Bruncheros! I liked the nice crispy texture of the tortillas at the base. The toppings worked well together, overall a good dish. There is some room for improvement on the other meny items but overall an okay experience. If you are going for a classic and homey brunch experience with the fam this is for sure an option.

Brunchies has a great selection of breakfast, brunch, lunch dishes, and beverages on their menu. They offer gluten-free options on their omelettes, some skillets, and other dishes when replacing regular bread with gluten-free bread. I ordered the Homemade Corned Beef Skillet with GF bread on the side. I would have liked to see GF pancakes on the menu, since it can be mundane and repetitive when eggs are the only gluten-friendly options available. Overall, I can see how Brunchies has become a staple in the community. They serve consistently good breakfast and brunch dishes, and I'll continue to come back. Maybe one day I'll see some GF pancakes on that menu...

Very busy brunch spot. I suggest timing your meal early, if possible. I dined alone and waited only a few minutes before snagging a seat at the counter. Diner is clean. A little noisy during peak hours. I bring my AirPods. Was fortunate to be served once again by Miguel, a real pro. Ordered "deconstructed" Eggs Benedict: 2 eggs poached in a bowl with Hollandaise, 86 Canadian bacon, well-done home fries. Ordered toast OTS instead of traditional English muffins that always wind up chewy. Added crispy bacon OTS. Brought my own tea because I'm a tea snob. Breakfast was delicious. Service was smooth. I did not feel rushed despite the joint being very busy with a long wait. Miguel @ Brunchies, see you again real soon. Maybe this week :)

I've been here a few times and while the food is pretty good, I would not choose to come again. The service has always been just okay, employees aren't super friendly but not rude, and it is a little slow. I really like the portobello croissant Benny! It's unique and super filling. The hash browns are okay but don't have much seasoning. The cuban was extremely good especially for a non cuban restaurant. Overall, I would come if someone invited me but based on the service and food not being anything mouth watering, it would not be my first pick for breakfast. It is nice that they have many options including lunch items and are accommodating with food sensitive like providing gluten free bread. You can also make reservations, although they did not prepare our table (we had 5 people so they had to push tables together) until after we arrived.

Great place for brunch. Just be aware that you might have to wait a bit to be seat especially on the weekend. My boyfriend and I ended up sitting at the "bar" area since it was the shortest wait. The food tastes great. I really enjoyed the Lox skillet and Route 66. We got two savory items but I will definitely be back to try the crepes and pankcakes! The customer service experience was good. They hostess and the waiter were both very courteous and tried to get us seated quickly and brought the food out in a timely manner despite how busy it was on Sunday. read more

We were very excited to brunch at brunchies, but unfortunately the only good thing about this place was the staff. Eggs Benedict was basic, potatoes were dry and stale, pancakes were also dry and actually crunchy on top, French toast was flat and still wet & chewy in the middle. Not good presentation on the plate. You would expect this from a 12 year old learning to cook not a hyped breakfast spot. So disappointed won't be back. read more

The reason for the poor review of this place was not so much the food, but the service. We went at noon on a Sunday, so we were expecting a bit of a wait but surprisingly, it only took ten minutes to get seated. Unfortunately after that it took nearly an hour to get our food. I realize it was busy, but breakfast places are always busy but still manage to get patrons in and out very quickly since most of the items are quick to prepare. After waiting and waiting while watching the place clear out, we finally were able to get a waitress' attention and ask about our food. She looked panicked and said it was about to come out, but then they brought us out two sandwiches which we didn't order. A few minutes after that our order finally came out. It kind of makes one suspect that they just forgot our order and made it on the fly, but they assured us it was just because the kitchen was backlogged. To make matters worse, my wife is a vegetarian and specifically asked for no meat on her plate. When it arrived all looked well, but after taking a few bites of her grits, she went to stir it and pulled out a very large chunk of sausage that was in the middle of the bowl. When we brought this to the waitress' attention, she simply apologized and offered another bowl. She didn't seem the least bit alarmed or genuinely apologetic. I guess she noticed that we were getting irritated so she brought the check out right after that. I know the wait and the food mistake wasn't her fault, but she didn't offer to take the grits off our bill or offer us any compensation for any of this. The food I did have was great, but I'm having a hard time wanting to go back if we have to deal with all of this just to get to it. read more

This place is what I was expecting- a few notches above a diner, with delicious but reasonably priced breakfast and lunch foods. We went at 10:30 on a Sunday morning and only had to wait 5 minutes for a table which was nice. Our server was friendly and our food was great (I got the Florentine Benedict and the vanilla latte-both delicious). The reason it didn't get 5 stars is because it's nothing mind blowing and also this manager type young woman with long dark hair was talking very nasty to the teens working as greeters and they didn't seem to be doing anything wrong. I hate seeing 'managers' who are only teens/young 20-somethings themselves act as if they are running a militant campaign. She put me off my breakfast with her screeching voice and nasty attitude. read more

Fittingly had brunch @ Brunchies. Huge menu, but dont let you think the food suffers because of it, this place has figured out how to take breakfast like mom used to make and keep the relaxed at home atmosphere. The only thing that beats the food is the fantastic service and managers. Try the crunch cakes, venetian omlette, and absolutely DONT MISS the duck bacon. read more

This is such a cute little place and they have excellent food. Went there the other day for brunch and they have the most amazing portobello mushroom Benedict. I love Benedict and I have never had a portobello mushroom one. It was delicious and it was served on a croissant. Also, it came was some yummy little home fries. I highly suggest you ask them to add onions, it makes them extra tasty. Also, the staff is super friendly and helpful. They are very much so on top of their game. They filled our tea and coffee in a very expediant manner. Also, the manager stopped by to make sure everything was tasty. The host who sat us, the waitress, and the manager were all very nice and welcoming. A great breakfast and brunch place in Carrollwood, Florida. read more

This is probably the WORST breakfast place I have ever been to - never again! My "go to" breakfast/brunch place has always been First Watch but we thought we would give this place a try - WRONG, so very, very wrong :-( The interior is pretty basic & boring, a little on the drab side. We were seated right away & the menu looks great (lots of options). My friend & I ordered pretty basic stuff (eggs & toast) - it took FOREVER ( we waited over 45 minutes for our food. My scrambled eggs were dried out on top & the tomatoes slices were not fresh. The eggs had no salt. Even the coffee was lukewarm at best (before adding any milk). You could go to Publix, buy the same ingredients & make your own eggs/toast at home for all under $10. Our waitress was absent, never came by to ask for refills & I had to flag her down for basic requests. SKIP this place - you'll do better going thru a McD's drive thru! For $35, it was a colossal waste of money. PS: the pictures on their website are obviously styled & professionally taken cause they looked nothing like what we ordered! read more

Not impressed. I've had my eye on this spot for a while and was really looking forward to breakfast here and I was very disappointed. The restaurant was beyond loud and over crowded. There is not enough room for people to wait in there waiting area. They do you have a lot of seating in the restaurant but there is no outside seating. After we waited a while for the table, we sat down and looked at the menu. There was absolutely NOTHING special about their menu. When I go to restaurants I like to have options of something that I wouldn't normally cook at home. If you want an average breakfast burrito with some pancakes bacon and egg then come here. We ordered The special of the day, which was chicken and waffles...more like frozen chicken strips that I throw into the oven and give my kids when I'm in a hurry. No flavor in the chicken and I could of got better chicken at a drive thru. We each got two measly chicken strips with our orders. Waffles where average, again nothing special. No sides came with our meals. For 2 chicken and waffles and 2 waters it was $25...would of rather spent an extra $10 somewhere else and got a decent meal. Not impressed by any means, won't be back. read more

Nestled in the same plaza as Bally's and next to Cafe Eden, Brucnhies is a nice breakfast/brunch/lunch spot off in Carrolwood on North Dale Mabry Blvd between Fletcher Ave. and Bearrs/Ehrlich Ave. They offer a nice selection of breakfast and lunch choices, some which distinguishes the place from other BBL (breakfast, brunch, lunch) joints in the area. Some items such as their Lobster Bruschetta add a nice change to the menu for BBL, but only for those that are willing to test the waters (i did not order the Lobster Bruschetta, this time). The wife and I both ordered traditional breakfast entrees. I originally ordered the Route 66 skillet, but they were out of corned beef hash(this saddened me quite drastic, jk) so instead I ordered the Traditional Breakfast which came with 2 eggs (I ordered scrambled well), bacon, potatoes and English muffin. My breakfast was alright seeing that these are pretty hard items to mess up. I did wish my bacon to be softer, but it was still good. They used a thick cut style bacon which I like. The potatoes were salty but not too bad, possibly a lil heavy on the seasoning. They reminded me of Irish potatoes so don't expect too much flavor. The wife ordered Strawberry crepes and I must say that they visually appealing. I'm not a fruit fan, but my wife said the dish was delicious. The strawberry compote was nice and warm. Also the strawberries were still somewhat firm and not soggy like the Cheesecake Factory's strawberries. Overall, Brunchies is a nice place for breakfast. On Sunday's do expect a 10-15 minute wait possibly due to late risers from Saturday night clubbin and church goers. The do attract a diverse crowd and with a diverse menu, rightfully so. read more

After a long run on UTBT, my friends and I had breakfast here. My first time. I ordered an everything bagel with lox, capers, poached egg and hollandaise sauce. Potatoes on the side. It was delicious. Seriously, the best breakfast I've had in a long time. My friends enjoyed their dishes as much as I did. Keep it up! We will be back. read more

The thing I like about J. Christophers is that the service is always good. The people are REALLY friendly and that makes my day especially when it's my first meal. On a scale of local breakfast/brunch places, this place is above First Watch but doesn't quite meet Jackson's but it's very close. The food is fresh, taste amazing, and the prices are just right. I usually get the egg white omelet with toast and potatoes. It's good. The pancakes are also very good too. They are pretty big so have someone help you out. The orange juice is fresh squeezed and made locally. The difference between getting something in the store and the fresh squeezed is remarkable. It's a must have. The other thing I like about J. Christophers is that it makes its own hot sauce. It's soooo good! It's not a vinegar based pepper sauce. it's more like a thinner salsa with a tomato base. If you like spicy, you'll love it! And yes, they'll sell you a bottle. Many people have remarked how good it is when I let other people try it. read more

So thankful a friend recommended we meet here. I probably would have just passed right on by. I had the egg whites with turkey sausage. Substituted toast for the gluten free pancakes (thanks for the option of doing that!). Everything was yummy but the pancakes were absolutely delicious. Service was a little slow (hence 4 stars vs 5) and I would have definitely been stressed if we had to be somewhere in a hurry. The restaurant wasn't that busy and it was during the week. Overall though, I will definitely visit again when I'm in Tampa. read more

It was my first time at Brunchies... And it was just an ok experience... There was no waiting to be seating, staff was nice enough, but mediocre food. My food was deliver'D and was incorrect. If you are into SCRAMBLED eggs this place is hopeless, you get more of and egg omelet with cheese on top. My eggs were cold... Do you precook eggs? My French toast had a good taste, but was cold. It wasn't super busy so to deliver cold food kinda bewildered me. My friend order'D the turkey avocado scramble and it was ok, seemed to be missing something taste wise though.. She also had pancake that was so cold the butter wouldn't melt. They do have duck bacon, it was my first time trying it and it was pretty good. The waiter was extremely nice but made many mistakes. Overall it was just an ok experience, I'd choose Waffle House any day. read more

Had a great experience eating here on Easter. The food was great. Service was great. Lots of options on the menu. Definitely will be back! Wish we had tried it sooner. Great dishes to choose from! Traditional eggs, yes! The difference, however, stems from adding Spanish ingredients like rice and beans. Plus, numerous options for cheeses and sauces. Great place to take your friends and family. Every staff member I met treated me with kindness. Finally, this restaurant proved to be clean! read more

This is another breakfast place that is a waste of time. I have been here twice and not a fan. Our table was dirty and had to let the staff know. Of course the table was wiped down with a sour smelling rag. The staff was running around like they weren't sure which direction they should be going in. Food was tasteless. It was so bland that hot sauce couldn't help their breakfast potatoes. I ordered their famous cheese grits but butter nor extra cheese could help. The restaurant wasn't even busy yet for such a bad experience. read more

Only reason I am giving this place 2 stars is because of the service. Our waitress was very quick, attentive and pleasant other than that, not much positive to say. I'm not sure if anyone who has ate here as ever eaten at Nicki's on Hillsborough but there is no comparison. I ordered the breakfast burrito and when you cut into the first bite it looked like they puréed all of the ingredients in a blender. I've seen baby food with better consistency. On top of that it had no taste at all. Even more disappointing were the rice and beans that came with it. I'm pretty sure I've cooked canned rice and beans that traded better. Their homemade hot sauce was the savior of the meal, loaded almost a bottle on top of it and made the meal edible. I was really excited based on the reviews and the fact I just moved into the area and love brunch but this place won't be making the cut for me! read more

We went back to J. Christophers today and were a bit disappointed. The first thing we noticed was how dirty the place was....so much stuff...wrappers, crumbs... on the floor and a lot of the tables still had dirty dishes. To get to our table, we actually had to walk around ketchup on the carpeting (disgusting!). We were seated in the side room and it must have been 10 degrees cooler than the main room. I asked for decaf coffee and what I got was a carafe of cold coffee. Also felt like Romper Room in there today. I still don't understand why in today's day and age, parents do not discipline their children. When I grew up, if we were at a table, we were told to sit down and sit still. These kids were standing on the chairs while Dad looked at his cell phone and Mom didn't say anything. I don't think we will go back again. We'll stick with First Watch. read more

Love the menu, good wholesome breakfast fare. Healthier options as well. They also have nitro cold brew now. Filling, good portions, friendly staff, nice atmosphere. I would leave zero stars if I could. This was a back experience. from service to food. One of the waitress order a manager and no one came. We ordered breakfast everyone hungry. 30 mins later it was the wrong Order for $34 you just expect more. And food may have been good here but I wouldn't know it and we aren't coming back to find out. Two kids and only one plate comes out 1st after 20mins of waiting. If it wasn't for the the second child having to eat I would have left long time ago. We will not be coming back. read more

The food at this place is average but the staff was very friendly. I ordered the goddess omelette which was nothing special and my husband ordered the guava stuffed French toast which had a nice taste. JCs has been pretty consistent for me. I like it better than First Watch (not that FW is bad) because they have more bkfast options and a "bar" which makes it easier for singles and couples to get in and out without having to take up an entire table. Sadly service can be a bit lacking at the bar but I've only been on weekend mornings and time is not an issue. Food is good, eggs bene usually prepared correctly. read more

Brunchies has a very extensive menu, so everyone should be able to find something they will like. My husband created his own omelet and I got the breakfast with egg whites, fruit, and turkey sausage (I forget the name). His was very good and mine was as good as it can be for turkey sausage and egg whites. :) It was a tad pricey for breakfast, but well worth the cost. It's a pretty big restaraunt, so I imagine they get busy on weekends. The service was perfect. read more

We have a liquor license and sell Mimosas, Bellinis, Vodka Drinks, Choco-Latte, Some of the more unique specialties are the egg white Goddess Omelette, Huevos Avocado Benedict, Guava Stuffed French Toast, Fresh Berry Crepes, Blueberry Granola Pancakes, Cheval Burger (topped with a fried egg), Nova Lox and bagel (or with eggs). Plenty of parking along the roadways, and in the nearby parking lots for the neighboring Water Works (city park) and Armature Works (food hall and social venue). The menu, as it was explained to me, was inspired by the indians that inhabited this area originally. I've been here numerous times but even with this latest visit, all my visits have been limited to lunch. Some of the dishes I have truly enjoyed: NATIVE CHILI: Not the typical ingredients but excellent nonetheless... rather than just beef and bean (as I am used to normally), this chili had alligator, boar, venison, duck, ground chuck and cranberry beans. Not handicap friendly !!!!! I use to love eating at Brunchies. Today was an absolute horrible experience & the 13 of us will not be returning. I made a reservation for my daughters birthday party. They were not very friendly over the phone, that should have been my first indicator. I went ahead made reservations for 10 plus 2 kids, that is 12 total. When we arrived they were packed, which is great happy for them. There was NO PLACE to wait. The servers kept telling us to move, while we waited. No idea where to go. I mentioned to the waitress that came to hostess area; that we had one extra and he would be in a wheelchair, so we would need to make room for him. She said ok and let me know where she was planning on putting us. Once the tables cleared for us to be seated, we assumed 13 seats. We all sat down, and the owner came up to me and said we could not seat the rest of our crowd. I said this isn't enough room for 13. He was arguing with me to take 4 spaces from us,in which 2 of them we would be make room for our grandson in wheel chair, to complete the 13 spaces. He said WOOOOWWW...TO ME. The owners exact words to me. I said we have 13, he said I told him over phone only 10. I reminded him 10 plus 2 kids. He wanted to argue with me in front of the birthday guest. He told me to look at his busy crowd, and he needed the 4 seats in question. I said you should not have booked my reservation if you could not accommodate. He again said REALLY WOOWWW...I couldn't enjoy the morning, because I couldn't believe how rude he was. All my guest were in shock , and told me to go to a manager. That is when we found out this rude man was the OWNER. This location & lutz location. Never again. He lost business. My poor daughters sweet, step son was crowded in his wheelchair because of the owner wanted to push us out of the way. So disturbing !!! read more

Wanted a good breakfast this morning, so me and my boyfriend found this little spot near the house. We walked in, and it was jam packed. (Not realizing it was Mother's Day, but still shocked at how busy it was) We sat at the bar so we didn't have to wait and Initial service took a little while, but again, it was a full house and a holiday. It happens. We got the menu, and there was so much to choose from for anybody that liked any type of breakfast food! I absolutely hate going into a breakfast place and the menu being filled with 28 different items that are almost all the same other than the fact that they just change up whether you get sausage or bacon or ham with it. Or if you get a side of toast or pancakes or potatoes with it. This menu had so many different, delicious options that I couldn't choose. So I got a dish, my boyfriend got a dish and we decided to split the biscuits and gravy dish too!! Unfortunately, the biscuits and gravy came out cold. The flavor was delicious (which is impressive because you can't find good biscuits and gravy in many places other than a run down small town diner it seems LOL) and I would've been fine if they were even a little warm, but we sent them back without a replacement because the food had already taken so long that it wasn't worth waiting for. I had a chorizo breakfast burrito, it was absolutely delicious. It was huge and came with a huge side of breakfast potatoes, yum!! My boyfriends omelette on the other hand was bland and didn't have much flavor. (He just sucks at picking good food items) Waitress was sweet, Portion sizes were great, coffee was fresh and I'll definitely be back for some of the other items that caught my eye. read more

Brunchies catered my mothers 90th birthday party on Saturday at their Dale Mabry location. I could not have been happier. The food was wonderful although not breakfast food I was able to give them the food selection I wanted and it was prepared and served excellently everyone loved it.
