The smoked salmon tasted like it took a long bath in pickle brine or had a caper-dill-pickle overload. Not my jam if you like classic Nova lox. Everything else was delicious, so I'll be back... just ordering something different next time. Solid spot, minus one star for the surprise fermentation attack.

My arrival at Abby's a half an hour early had me looking for a way to kill time. Brunchies was a couple doors down and I had not had breakfast yet. They opened at 7am. Located on N. Dale Mabry in a busy plaza with a 5 Guys, Starbucks and BBQ place, the plaza houses an interesting array of businesses. Me, I frequent Abby's. There was a diner vibe to the place. A counter dining option was to the left as you entered, a large wide open dining area in the middle as well as 2 separate meeting/dining rooms for groups off to the right. Kitchen at the back and most beverage options behind the dining counter. A well organized place but maybe a tad disheveled. An extensive menu with loads of treats was in fine print so bring your glasses. Lots of delectable options but I found that many basic combos were missing in several categories. They did have the "build your own" option but that makes your basic ham and cheese omelet more expensive. Of the four "go to" items I usually order, none were on the menu. I ended up ordering a cuban sandwich and a cup of coffee, $12 and $5. The cuban came with a side. She offered potatoes but I declined and she then listed the other options. I got a salad. The cuban was small and the taste while good was greasy and not tradionional. If I had to describe, I would say the salami tasted like a sharp pepperoni. I ate my salad, drank my coffee and ate half a sandwich. Took the rest home, it was dinner. My experience was tarnished at the end when I got my bill and with tip, was $27. I examined my bill and found I was charged $4 for my salad, my side item. That left me fuming. I paid the bill, did not complain. I blame the server who should have told me that a salad, which she listed as a side option, was an upcharge of $4. To me, that's dishonest. Reminds me of servers that do not tell you a 20% gratuity is part of the bill and watch you add another 20%. Not planning to go back. Things like that ruffle my feathers! Most reviewers have good things to say.

Service is usually on point. Kessie is my favorite! I usually get the Brunchies club. I like the Benedicts, too, but they do not always cook the eggs the way I like them. It also can get really loud in the main room. The acoustics are a bit off. All said and done, this is one of my go-to places for brunch.

Brunchies has a delightful warmth, a very family-friendly atmosphere that was pretty busy during the Sunday brunch rush. The menu presented a decent variety of options, from the menu items I had there could be some improvement. The short stack pancakes were dry for me, a touch of butter or more flavor could elevate the dish as well. The lavender lemonade had more of a syrupy taste. Adding a few lemons slices improved the overall drink, I would add more lemon and water to the drink to dilute teh syrup a little. My main I chose and enjoyed was the Eggs Bruncheros! I liked the nice crispy texture of the tortillas at the base. The toppings worked well together, overall a good dish. There is some room for improvement on the other meny items but overall an okay experience. If you are going for a classic and homey brunch experience with the fam this is for sure an option.

Brunchies has a great selection of breakfast, brunch, lunch dishes, and beverages on their menu. They offer gluten-free options on their omelettes, some skillets, and other dishes when replacing regular bread with gluten-free bread. I ordered the Homemade Corned Beef Skillet with GF bread on the side. I would have liked to see GF pancakes on the menu, since it can be mundane and repetitive when eggs are the only gluten-friendly options available. Overall, I can see how Brunchies has become a staple in the community. They serve consistently good breakfast and brunch dishes, and I'll continue to come back. Maybe one day I'll see some GF pancakes on that menu...

Very busy brunch spot. I suggest timing your meal early, if possible. I dined alone and waited only a few minutes before snagging a seat at the counter. Diner is clean. A little noisy during peak hours. I bring my AirPods. Was fortunate to be served once again by Miguel, a real pro. Ordered "deconstructed" Eggs Benedict: 2 eggs poached in a bowl with Hollandaise, 86 Canadian bacon, well-done home fries. Ordered toast OTS instead of traditional English muffins that always wind up chewy. Added crispy bacon OTS. Brought my own tea because I'm a tea snob. Breakfast was delicious. Service was smooth. I did not feel rushed despite the joint being very busy with a long wait. Miguel @ Brunchies, see you again real soon. Maybe this week :)

I've been here a few times and while the food is pretty good, I would not choose to come again. The service has always been just okay, employees aren't super friendly but not rude, and it is a little slow. I really like the portobello croissant Benny! It's unique and super filling. The hash browns are okay but don't have much seasoning. The cuban was extremely good especially for a non cuban restaurant. Overall, I would come if someone invited me but based on the service and food not being anything mouth watering, it would not be my first pick for breakfast. It is nice that they have many options including lunch items and are accommodating with food sensitive like providing gluten free bread. You can also make reservations, although they did not prepare our table (we had 5 people so they had to push tables together) until after we arrived.

Overall, I was completely disappointed in Brunchies. I took my mom there for her birthday brunch. We were impressed how big the menu was and actually had a difficult time deciding on what we wanted to order. She ended up ordering the tuna wrap and a side salad. I ordered the cranberry pecan chicken salad. The server overheard us saying how we would like to try the pumpkin waffle too, and possibly split it, but were concerned with the amount of food we'd have. She suggested we order a 1/2 waffle, so we did. My mom's food was very good (thankfully, with it being her birthday) but my food not so much. First of all, for an $8+ salad, I would expect a larger plate, but honestly if you took my mom's $.99 side salad out of the bowl and spread it around a plate, it would have been the same size, if not bigger, than the salad I ordered as my meal. The lettuce was mostly fresh, but there were a few of those dark, slimy wilted pieces of baby greens here and there. The chicken was the worst part. The server told me it was cut up chicken breast. No, this chicken was OBVIOUSLY out of a frozen bag of cubed cooked chicken, similar to frozen grilled and ready chicken chunks. Gross. Not only did it NOT taste fresh, but there were fatty end pieces here and there. The server forgot to bring out my toast...not a problem. she brought it out within 10 minutes of me bringing it to her attention. The pumpkin waffle did not even taste like pumpkin, was pink, came with bacon dumped over top of it and a side of some sort of gooey walnut topping. We split it, since I was not full anyway. The best part about our brunch? I received the bill and was charged $5.49 for a half of a waffle!!! But that's not all. Then they UPCHARGED me $1.50 because I ordered the "pumpkin" waffle (ironically the special on their board upfront)!! So basically I spent $7 for a half of a waffle. I asked if it was correct, if a full waffle was $14 and they told me they charge $9 for a full waffle WTF??? Thanks to the server for suggesting the ripoff half waffle. That waffle came off her tip. If they would have even TRIED to make the bill more IN LINE with what they should be charging for their poor excuse of a pumpkin waffle, since I was clearly taken back by their overcharge, then I may have given them a second chance, ordering something different on my next trip. But these people who own this place are obviously trying to get whatever they can out of their customers and in return the customer receives mediocre food at best. First Watch up the road has much better food/service at better prices. WILL NOT BE BACK! read more

The food was great but service from the manager Bill was atrocious. He was very unprofessional and inconsiderate. The only thing that saved our experience was waitress Angie. She was very sweet and her customer service was amazing. We reallllllllly enjoyed her service which prompted us to tip her well. Bill overbooked us with another party and literally wanted us to shorten our time because of it. His approach was terrible and because of that, I would not go back read more

Been here dozens of times over the years and have never had a bad experience. Only been for breakfast/brunch and would probably stick to that. The blueberry crunch cakes are some of the best pancakes I've ever had, that good. Get a shortstack or even just a single pancake because these things are way, way too big for a normal person to eat three and one would be a normal portion. read more

I recently gave my daughter a baby shower at Brunchie's in their private room. It was amazing. The staff was very helpful and made the set up/clean up a breeze. Food and service were all great! The price is the best and the mimosas were a big hit! I recommend it it for any gathering!! read more

Used to be my favorite place. Today, as I sit here, after being ignored for 10 minutes, I wonder what happened. Our drinks are empty... Coffee and water have been empty for a while. No food yet... We walked in to a half full restaurant....We should have know when KEKE's had a 40 minute wait! Oh and No apologies!!! After 40 Minutes were served Our over cooked eggs. Ugh. Should have waited at KEKE's... Probably would have been faster. I know it would have been better and better service, too. read more

Wife and I ate breakfast on 1/29/14 at 10:30 am. Wife had plain short stack of pancakes took one bite and would not eat anymore said it was very dry/stale tasting. I had the Buccaneer Feast- 2 eggs over easy was fine, turkey sausage was dry no taste, potatoes were over cooked and the maple french toast was nothing to write home about. Only about half dozen people in the restaurant at the time and it took a long time to get waited on. Ordered Cafe Con Leche it arrived just barely warm. The waitress came by one time and asked if I wanted anything else and I asked for another coffee and she did not bring another coffee just the bill. I waited for her to come back an take the money but never saw her again, so I left the cash and small tip and left. I will not eat there again. read more

Very disappointed. We came on a sunday.. They were slightly busy. A ten min wait. The host was awful. Did not say a thing just stood there looking at us with a dumbfounded look. He was very rude. Made me want to leave right then.. But this being our first time here we gave it a chance. Not worth it. My husband ordered the buccaneers feast, he said it was good. He upgraded to the quava french toast which was excellent. I had the bacon waffle. Which was an okay waffle but it was disappointing to pay 8 dollars for just a waffle. I also had the Kaluha cappuccino which tasted very generic. The kid meal was a great size for the price. However they forgot the toast. Overall food was worth it however the staff alone will be the reason I do not return. read more

My first time visiting and it was great! I had a skillet that included cheese, yellow rice, and chicken - can't remember the name of it. It was delicious! And, I felt so full, I had the waitress put some in a to go box for me. I normally avoid breakfast places because I never feel full but this place is different. I had a hearty meal and was ready to run errands for the rest of the day. My waitress and the greeter were very kind, as well. read more

I've only been to Brunchies for breakfast but the food has been excellent every time. Their omelets and pancakes are very good. I usually go on Saturday mornings and it can be quite busy. Only complaint I have is sometimes the service is slow when they are busy. Otherwise it's a very friendly atmosphere, food is excellent and a nice place to gather with friends or family. read more

My friend had the Morning Bowl, made with vanilla Greek yogurt, granola, fresh bananas and strawberries, topped with honey and their house-made blueberry poppy maple syrup. It was fresh, beautiful, and just the right balance of healthy and indulgent. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented, and the service was warm and welcoming. Plenty of parking along the roadways, and in the nearby parking lots for the neighboring Water Works (city park) and Armature Works (food hall and social venue). They had valet for years but I'm not sure they still offer the service. The venue is huge... large red, brick building with outdoor sitting and a bar but they also have outdoor art to be impressed, a pond with fish for kids to admire, overlooking the Hillsborough River and lovely gardens (and all of it is maintained impeccable). The interior is industrial and a bit masculine but the views outside and more exhibits of art balance the atmosphere. Love the exposed kitchen and the glass wine enclosure under the stairs. The menu, as it was explained to me, was inspired by the indians that inhabited this area originally. I've been here numerous times but even with this latest visit, all my visits have been limited to lunch. Some of the dishes I have truly enjoyed: NATIVE CHILI: Not the typical ingredients but excellent nonetheless... rather than just beef and bean (as I am used to normally), this chili had alligator, boar, venison, duck, ground chuck and cranberry beans. CLASSIC BURGER: Ulele offers so many delicious dishes but sometimes a simple player is the way to go and the burger here does not disappoint... great balance of meat to cheddar cheese and those pickles are on-point. WATER WORKS MEATLOAF: I grew up loving meatloaf even though no one in my family made a good one (always ordered in restaurants); trying this one sets the bar to a new level... I'd enjoy that cabernet garlic demi-glaze all day everyday. PULCO CARPACCIO: Thin slices of octopus with a sauce that is rememberable (except for the name). I had made reservations, so we were sat exactly at our time. I highly recommend making reservations because this place filled up quickly and stayed busy the entire time we were there. Our very friendly and knowledgeable server let us order off of the happy hour menu, so my friends and I split a variety of items. First - bread with the 3 dips - you absolutely must get this. Second - fried zucchini balls. While I did like them, I wish they were smaller so the inside was a little more cooked. Third - Creamy Tomato Vodka Pasta - yummy with a bit of kick! This was my favorite food item. Fourth - Queen Stella Margherita pizza. Surprisingly, this was my least favorite item. We got it thin-crust, and while it looked good, it was served completely cold, and the flavor can only be described as cardboard-like. I would definitely try another pizza here, but not this one. My friends also split an order of meatballs, which they loved. While they had wine for dessert, I had a piece of limoncello cake for dessert. It was fantastically lemony and moist, which I loved. Their parking lot is valet only, but fortunately you only have to pay the $6 fee Fri-Sun, so we just had to tip the very friendly valet.

They also offer a military discount, which is always appreciated. The restaurant itself was clean, bright, and welcoming. Our waitress was friendly and kind. While she seemed familiar with the menu, I asked for more information about one of the dishes, and her explanation was essentially just repeating the menu description. She wasn't rude at all--she just wasn't able to clearly explain what made the dish different or what to expect. As for my meal, I ordered the shrimp and grits. Unfortunately, it missed the mark. The grits were very runny, undercooked, lacked seasoning, and had a gritty texture. They simply weren't enjoyable. While the service and atmosphere were positives, the quality of my meal was disappointing. Not handicap friendly !!!!! I use to love eating at Brunchies. Today was an absolute horrible experience & the 13 of us will not be returning. I made a reservation for my daughters birthday party. They were not very friendly over the phone, that should have been my first indicator. I went ahead made reservations for 10 plus 2 kids, that is 12 total. When we arrived they were packed, which is great happy for them. There was NO PLACE to wait. The servers kept telling us to move, while we waited. No idea where to go. I mentioned to the waitress that came to hostess area; that we had one extra and he would be in a wheelchair, so we would need to make room for him. She said ok and let me know where she was planning on putting us. Once the tables cleared for us to be seated, we assumed 13 seats. We all sat down, and the owner came up to me and said we could not seat the rest of our crowd. I said this isn't enough room for 13. He was arguing with me to take 4 spaces from us,in which 2 of them we would be make room for our grandson in wheel chair, to complete the 13 spaces. He said WOOOOWWW...TO ME. The owners exact words to me. I said we have 13, he said I told him over phone only 10. I reminded him 10 plus 2 kids. He wanted to argue with me in front of the birthday guest. He told me to look at his busy crowd, and he needed the 4 seats in question. I said you should not have booked my reservation if you could not accommodate. He again said REALLY WOOWWW...I couldn't enjoy the morning, because I couldn't believe how rude he was. All my guest were in shock , and told me to go to a manager. That is when we found out this rude man was the OWNER. This location & lutz location. Never again. He lost business. My poor daughters sweet, step son was crowded in his wheelchair because of the owner wanted to push us out of the way. So disturbing !!! read more

Wanted a good breakfast this morning, so me and my boyfriend found this little spot near the house. We walked in, and it was jam packed. (Not realizing it was Mother's Day, but still shocked at how busy it was) We sat at the bar so we didn't have to wait and Initial service took a little while, but again, it was a full house and a holiday. It happens. We got the menu, and there was so much to choose from for anybody that liked any type of breakfast food! I absolutely hate going into a breakfast place and the menu being filled with 28 different items that are almost all the same other than the fact that they just change up whether you get sausage or bacon or ham with it. Or if you get a side of toast or pancakes or potatoes with it. This menu had so many different, delicious options that I couldn't choose. So I got a dish, my boyfriend got a dish and we decided to split the biscuits and gravy dish too!! Unfortunately, the biscuits and gravy came out cold. The flavor was delicious (which is impressive because you can't find good biscuits and gravy in many places other than a run down small town diner it seems LOL) and I would've been fine if they were even a little warm, but we sent them back without a replacement because the food had already taken so long that it wasn't worth waiting for. I had a chorizo breakfast burrito, it was absolutely delicious. It was huge and came with a huge side of breakfast potatoes, yum!! My boyfriends omelette on the other hand was bland and didn't have much flavor. (He just sucks at picking good food items) Waitress was sweet, Portion sizes were great, coffee was fresh and I'll definitely be back for some of the other items that caught my eye. read more

Brunchies catered my mothers 90th birthday party on Saturday at their Dale Mabry location. I could not have been happier. The food was wonderful although not breakfast food I was able to give them the food selection I wanted and it was prepared and served excellently everyone loved it.
