Good place to get chicken sandwiches in Kent! Overall, I highly recommend, quick and friendly service. Overall, my favorite was the chicken sandwich!

B's hot chicken is very close to the Kent Des Moines 1-line station. We got there around 7 PM and the place was not that busy. They have a limited menu and specialize in Halal chicken we got the medium and the hot chicken sandwich. I would give it high marks for the quality. It wasn't too spicy and for the price it's a great deal. They have a good number of tables in the dining area and I did see a good number of drive-through orders. Again, they are not like a hot chicken place but more like a sandwich joint. Give them a try.

    The limited, but appealing, menu.

B's Hot Chicken is having a soft opening as of this writing (7/20) but based on what I saw and experienced, it's going to do well. I stopped in after seeing the "Now Open!" signs and noticed a brisk drive-thru business. Instead, I went inside and was pleasantly surprised. The interior is fresh and new, the staff eager to help, and the chicken well-prepared --- juicy, fresh and tasty. I ordered the "tender" expecting small-ish slices of chicken. Instead, I was treated to a pretty decent-sized slice off a breast, slathered in hot sauce and served on a slice of white bread -- perfect for sopping up any left-over sauce. The term "hot" is very subjective. I grew up in Arizona eating Mexican food, so perhaps I have a more developed hot tooth than some, but here's my take. I ordered the "medium" which is No. 3 on a scale of 4. It made my lips tingle a little, but not quite enough for my taste, so next time, I'll be upping the ante to "Hot!", No. 4 on the scale. The menu is limited, but that's intentional to keep prices down and enable quick service. They have tenders, chicken sandwiches, fries, sides and beverages. Right now, their health department rating is pending but based on what I saw and tasted, as a former restaurant person and avid cook, they'll do just fine. And based on the business they're already doing, it could be a lot more than "just fine." If you like chicken, especially with a little heat, give 'em a try. I KNOW I'll be back!

Good service. Clean dining room. I really wanted to give a higher rating but this was 1 misstep after another. The chicken sandwiches were all different sizes, the seasoning was just different amounts of chili powder. The coleslaw had lettuce in it. The lemonade(s) are all packaged mixes with water and it tastes like it. Why has nobody mentioned that the chicken tenders are $3.50 per tender?? That's not really a value when the chicken is just frozen and flash fried. I really wish this place was better but, as is with most places these days. Charge a lot for sub par food, mediocre customer service and the addition of a hair.

This classic, no-frills spot carries a nostalgic charm, with a casual, welcoming atmosphere that makes it feel like a staple of the community. It's the kind of place where the focus isn't on trends or presentation, but on delivering satisfying, flavorful food that keeps people coming back. The Hamburger perfectly captures that philosophy. It's simple--nothing overly dressed up or complicated--but that's exactly what makes it shine. The patty is cooked well, with a satisfying sear that brings out the natural flavor of the beef, while the bun and toppings complement rather than overwhelm. Every bite feels balanced, familiar, and genuinely delicious, like a reminder of how good a straightforward burger can be when it's done right. The California Burger steps things up with a more layered flavor profile. The meat is cooked just right--juicy, tender, and full of flavor--and paired with fresh toppings that add both texture and brightness. There's a satisfying richness to it, but it never feels too heavy. Each component works together seamlessly, creating a burger that feels indulgent without losing that classic drive-in appeal. Another standout is the Onion Burger, which might be the most memorable of the bunch. The patty is cooked to a juicy perfection, locking in flavor with every bite. What truly elevates it, though, are the caramelized onions. They're soft, slightly sweet, and deeply savory, blending into the burger in a way that feels effortless. The combination of the rich beef and the perfectly cooked onions creates a harmony that's hard to beat. Not everything hits the same high note, however. The Calamari Rings were a bit of a letdown. There was a slightly off-putting seafood smell that took away from the experience, and the breading felt excessive--so much so that it would fall off easily. On top of that, they leaned a bit too greasy, making them heavier than expected and lacking the crisp, clean bite that good calamari should have. Despite that one misstep, The Family Drive-In excels where it matters most. It delivers consistently great burgers that highlight quality, simplicity, and flavor. For anyone craving a classic drive-in experience with satisfying, well-executed burgers, this spot is an easy recommendation and well worth the visit.

Definitely the best thing we got. Cooked perfectly and seasoned well. The fish and prawns were beautifully fried with panko breading. However, the fish, prawns, and fries were very under seasoned leaving them all very bland unless they were dipped in sauce. The tartar and fry sauce were delicious and needed for the fries, fish, and prawns. If we come back, it will be for the burger!

They are booths along the wall and some tables as well. You have a cooler of drinks and fountain drinks, and milkshakes as well. I had the ohayou gozaimasu burger - which comes with a beef katsu patty (ground beef, breaded and fried - you can swap it out for chicken or pork as well or tofu if you prefer), topped with a perfectly fried egg, crispy bacon, melty cheddar, creamy Japanese, mayo, finely shredded crunchy cabbage and zingy Katsu sauce This is a really unique burger. I've been wanting to come here for a while and I'm happy. I finally had a chance. I'm looking forward to coming back and try one of their burgers with chicken Katsu and also pork Katsu in the near future, but I had to go with the original beef patty on the first visit. Service was great. I was greeted quickly and provided with some suggestions after I mentioned it was my first visit here. Their menu is unique so that type of help is appreciated. I made mine a meal and got it with fries and you can choose from four different types of seasoning for your fries or get them plain. I got mine with the furikake seasoning which was nice and added that umami flavor profile perfectly. You also get to choose dipping sauce and I went with more Katsu sauce, but they have five or six others that looked good. I chose a lychee oolong tea in a bottle from the cooler as my meal drink, but you could also get a fountain drink or upgrade to a milkshake if you prefer All in all, this is a really really cool creative twist on classic burger spot. They also serve some bento boxes and Katsu style hotdog at this Kent location here. The bathroom was really clean as was the lobby and the open kitchen. All in all, I'll give them a 10 out of 10 and I will be back
