Service was Amazing. The young lady that waited on us on Saturday was an extraordinary young lady. So full of happiness. We really liked her. She actually knew what was on those menus. And funny. Bubba Gumps actually still does the Forrest Gump quizzes. It was a fun battle. Not too many patrons got in on the fun but for those of us that did we were yelling answers I ordered the shrimp New Orleans and a cup of clam chowder. After that clam chowder I was actually full. Then there was my plate. My shrimps were delicious they were large shrimp which is always a plus. Didn't finished that plate but it did go home with me. Mom had the stuffed shrimp which she devoured. wouldn't share a piece. lol. Mom said she was stuffed, plus she had the clam chowder. Did I tell you about those fried pickles? This was our final destination after going to the Long Beach aquarium. It's conveniently right across from it. If you have never been here you should at least give it a try. Believe me you will be coming back again. The seafood is great and the servers are always full of energy. It has a nice ambiance with the music related to the movie "Forrest gump". Another thing to remember is there are two license plates on the table . If the blue plate is down, the server will pass you by but if you flip the plate to the red one, they will immediately stop and check up on you. Birthdays can be fun because the whole crew will come and sing happy birthday. Also the classic toys and eclectic memorabilia from the movie are fun to gaze at while dining. I could have sworn that I had written a review for this location already, but I guess I hadn't. We usually visit this location when we come to the Aquarium of the Pacific, which is across from the restaurant. I love Bubba Gump, especially since my family and I are huge fans of the movie Forest Gump. We usually don't make reservations and are seated right away, but this last time we were here, we had to wait just a couple of minutes for a table. After we were seated, our waiter stopped by to give us our menus. Once we were ready to order, we turned the sign on the table to "Stop Forest Stop," and our waiter came to take our order. It's a fun way to have our waiter stop if we need anything. The service is always excellent here. I ordered Shrimp Heaven, which is one of my favorite dishes there because it's a great way to try different types of shrimp. It comes with fried shrimp, coconut shrimp, tempura shrimp, fries, cocktail sauce, Cajun marmalade, and tempura sauce. All different types of shrimp were delicious. It used to come in cute little separate cones, but they don't anymore. My husband ordered a ribeye steak, which he really enjoyed. The steak came with smashed potatoes and broccoli. My husband shared a piece of his steak with me, and it was really tender and flavorful. My children had a pizza from the kids' menu; it comes with a side, drink, and cookies. The restaurant is so cute! It's filled with a lot of memorabilia from the Forest Gump movie, and every table is different. Was at the aquarium and decided to try this place. It's nicely decorated and interesting to look at all the signs and pictures. You'll recognize a lot of items if you're familiar with the movie. The food is just okay it's not amazing food but consumable. The shrimp cocktail had nice size shrimp and the calamari was okay too. I gave this place 3 stars because it just average and not worthy of 5 stars. Service could have been a lot better. I start taking away stars when my drink is empty and the longer it's empty is when I start to take away stars. Also once the entires came the dish for the appetizers were still there. Yesterday, we visited this nostalgic eatery. This family oriented restaurant is a fun place. On the walls adorned the pictures from movie "Forrest Gump," and other memorabilia. This restaurant had seen better days as the food service is slow, as is the wait for someone to take your order. Once the food arrives, it is tasty enough, and piping hot. I had the crab stuffed shrimp which normally comes with rice, but I chose broccoli instead. I should have asked for no butter on my vegetable, but I ate it anyway and it was delicious. We also had calamari to share as an appetizer. It comes with battered red bell peppers and mild peppers with two dipping sauces. Great service for the kids as they all get a balloon. Kids meals come with Goldfish and a replica of the "Jenny" boat from the movie. My guess is that being a weekday, the waitstaff is bear minimum. I'd still visit this place. read more

This was our first time trying this location, and it was okay. We came just for a quick snack as we waited for our Catalina island ferry to arrive. There was plenty of seating indoor and out. The inside of the place was really cool offering a lot of Forrest Gump references. The food, not so good. We got the shrimp net catch appetizer Cajun flavor, I thought this was decent. I would rate this a 7/10 for flavor, but didn't agree with the price for so little amount of shrimp. You can get WAY more at boiling crab for the same price! The gumbo was EXTREMELY salty & tbh tasted more like beef stew with tiny pieces of baby shrimp & what tasted like canned chicken inside. Can't fully remember what this drink was called, a mango mojito maybe? But it wasn't good. It was too sweet. Service was okay. My wife and I planned a trip to the Long Beach Aquarium for my grandson' s 7th birthday. We had previously gone to a Bubba Gump Shrimp Restaurant in Monterey, CA many years ago and were very pleased with the service and food we were served so we were excited to learn that there was one next to the Aquarium and decided to have dinner there. Boy were we disappointed! First of all, we had to ask twice to move from our table -first because we were in direct sunlight and second because the table was wobbly. When we were finally seated our server (Issa?) took our drink orders and later our food orders. My grandson ordered the large fish & chips, my other grandson ordered the children's mac & cheese, my wife and I ordered the shrimp sampler plate. It took a while for our food to come out and when it did, it did not look very good. The fish & chips were large because it was mostly breading and tasteless cod. Our shrimp were small, overly breaded and also lacked any flavor. Finally, the mac n cheese looked like Kraft boxed mac n cheese with a lot of mac and almost no cheese. We also had to order extra sauces to try to give the food some flavor. And the prices were very extremely high for the amount of food we ordered $115 for a shared meal and, a single entree and a child's meal! All in all, a very disappointing meal. The only bright spot was the service we got from Issa who was very efficient and attentive (hence the one star). Went here after whale watching today! Not a huge wait about 10 minutes. The waitress was very sweet and attentive! Ordered a couple apps and they were good but a bit salty for both the garlic bread and fried pickles. ALS the pickles were a small portion! Busy place located near the Aquarium of the Pacific. Good for groups or just wanting to have some nostalgic dinner date. Service may be slow depending how busy or how quick you flag the servers. Food was cooked to order. My husband had a bowl of clam chowder which had real clams on it. I had a bowl of Mama Blues Shrimp Gumbo which was really tasty. Then I had the crab and shrimp rolls which is just about right for a hearty meal. It's shrimp with lump of crab, creme fraiche, and celery in a buttered brioche bun and fries. Maybe salty for others but it was just reight for me. My husband had Forrest's Seafood Feast which my husband enjoyed (it's deep fried!). To finish the meal, and yes, we were famished, we ordered Chocolate Chip Cookie Sundae. All of the above were devoured...finished...no to go box this time! Great for the kids... not so great for the food! Bubba Gump is a super convenient, short walk from the Long Beach Aquarium--you can see it from the aquarium. My grandson wanted to eat there so badly, so Grandma said, "Okay, your choice!" And honestly, the restaurant itself is adorable. The Forrest Gump movie theme is everywhere, and the decorations are fun and definitely entertaining for kids. The staff was also very friendly and welcoming, so no complaints there. But then came the food... We ordered the Shrimper's Heaven, which was basically fried shrimp, coconut/tempura shrimp, popcorn shrimp and French fries. If you like everything fried, this is apparently your dream plate. For us, it was just a lot of fried food and very little flavor. Then came the shrimp scampi linguine. I honestly don't know how you can make shrimp scampi pasta this bland, but somehow they managed. It was one of the worst pasta dishes I've ever had in a restaurant. And the grand finale? A bill over $100. For that price, I expect the food to be memorable. The kids enjoyed the experience, which was the whole reason we went, so I'll give Bubba Gump credit for that. Parking on a Friday night wasn't bad. We used the garage next door. Very short walk to restaurant. We walked in and were immediately escorted to our table. The waitress came and got our drink and appetizer orders. Both were brought out pretty. Service here was really good. Waitress was chatty in a good way. Immediately made us comfortable. Food and drink was okay. This is where they lost that 5 star to 4. Seriously, the margaritas were okay but not the best we had at other places. Don't get me wrong, it was a good dinner.
