I've heard great things about bubbas burgers, unfortunately I did not order a burger and decided that I'd just go for the appetizers. I was very disappointed in the onion rings, they were too big, had no flavor and were way too greasy. There shrimp was really good and the chicken tenders and fries were good enough, but overall for me it wasn't worth the price that I paid. With all of that being said I did come with a fairly large group (there were around 12 people if I remember correctly) and they were busy as we had a reservation and still had to wait for a few minutes. Nothing was raw or overcooked, and the server was wonderful, So I'm open to giving them another chance in the future, but as for right now I'm really not impressed. read more

The service was good for them being packed. We got seated right away. The waitress was friendly and kept coming to check on us. The appetizers arrived and were really good. When the rest of our food came, I was blown away by how good it was. We will definitely be back. The atmosphere was like a large sports bar. We went with another couple for dinner. It was our first time dining here. It was Saturday evening and they were busy, 15-35 min wait. Destiny came out from the bar area and offered to get us drinks while we waited for our table. Got to tell you this was the first time this has ever happened. My first thought why doesn't every restaurant do this?? We were seated before my beer was finished. Brittany took excellent care. She was on point with drinks and our food exactly as we ordered. Today I decided to try Bubbas 33 as I've ridden past it plenty of times before. As I soon I walked through the door I was greeted and seated almost immediately. I was informed by my waitress that they have brunch specials every Saturday & Sunday from 10am-2pm; and let me just say, they have a really great selection on food & alcoholic beverages. The atmosphere was great! Very relaxed, with multiple tv's going around the entire restaurant. For my appetizer I ores the fried pickles which came with Ranch and Bubbas house. Sooooo goood I mean, they were LIT-ER-ALLY fried to perfection!! I also had a Strawberry Mimosa for $3 (in big wine glass) and I ordered the Chicken & Bacon MAC N Cheese without the bacon. When I first bit into my food it was pretty chill but they took care of it IMMEDIATELY without any questions asked. Not only did the waitress assure me that the food would be remade, but the manager Nicki also stoped by the table to apologize for the mishap. She even stated that she would take it off the bill. When Kerry brought my food back it was PIPING HOT & oh so yummy! Nicki even came back to make sure everything was okay & gave me certificates to come back being that I was a first time visitor. We went for a soft opening. Our server was super friendly and attentive. They had $4 margaritas and long islands and the limited menu was free. The margaritas were good and my significant other said his long island was good. The atmosphere was nice and the layout was good. I didn't feel cramped and it didn't feel like it was trying to copy another space. The TVs also weren't all on sports, so I appreciated that as well. My drinks weren't weak, but they weren't too strong either. My chicken and shrimp pasta came without shrimp and that was a bit disappointing, but that's what soft openings are for. He wasn't too big on his cheesesteak, but he's a bit picky on them. We only had those options to choose from. A manager and our server came and apologized and told us they'd get the shrimp to us, but that didn't happen. It's honestly not a big deal as we didn't pay for the meal. I did enjoy that my pasta was spicy, so that was a major plus. I can see us coming back for a date night. read more

Previewed the menu last week during an event. Bubba's is part of the Texas Roadhouse family but focuses more on a sports bar and grill theme for the family. Menu features a variety of high quality sports bar fare like boneless (tender breast meat) and bone in wings (soooo good). You won't want to share the Shotgun Shrimp appetizer. I also had Bubba's Bacon Burger which features a ground bacon and beef patty. My lawd. I sampled the steak which was so flavorful and tender I didn't need to douse it with anything. Everything is reasonably priced! There's online ordering for folks who want to get it to go. Ah and they have brunch on the weekends! One thing I forgot that I didn't get a good picture of is that they have a wheel chair accessible bar that can fold down to a wheel chair level, which I don't see often in sports bars. read more

Only thing I can say is it depends on who is making the gravy, I've had it 3 times once it was really peppery. If you like that you're in for a treat. I now will just ask for it on the side. We were pretty excited to try this place because it's new and we heard good reviews. However, it was disappointing to say the least. We called ahead because we figured it'd be busy, which it was. We were sat soon after we checked in. Our waitress came and got our drink orders pretty quickly. We ordered our food and an appetizer at the same time. We waited about 30 minutes for food before we questioned it. The table behind us was sat, ordered 10 minutes after that, and had their food before our appetizer came out. We flagged down a manager who was tending to the complaints of the table next to us (which seemed to be lengthy) to check why there was such a wait. Turns out our waitress had forgot to ring our order in.. FORGOT TO RING OUR ORDER IN.. which I've been a waitress before and I understand it gets busy but to completely forget is ridiculous. Especially when you've checked on us since we've ordered and see no food on the table. One of the managers came back and said they put our order in as a rush ticket but it still seemed to take a bit for our dinners to come out. I got the chicken & bacon mac & cheese which was alright, just wayyyy too thick, not creamy. My husband got a burger which he said was really good. My dad had the fish and chips, he also said it was good. We had a couple managers come to apologize but honestly it was a little too late for that. They did discount our check which was nice I guess. Franchisee owner, your chain restaurant is not known as a a one which specializes in fish dishes and your products are ordered by the Corporate buyers, however, your fish and chips which advertised as cod was a frozen product with no consistency which was tasteless mush which could have been any white fish. It is not the fault of your kitchen which prepares what they have been given. The server is at the mercy of the kitchen and the kitchen does not control the product. Like all new chain restaurants, your food quality declines after a while. I did not complain or ask for some sort of reduced charge on the bill at the store when paying. I love the upbeat atmosphere of this place. There are more than enough TVs to view just about anything you want. The staff was friendly from the front door to the end of our visit. It was clean, had great fast service, and delicious food. The manager (I think) came and chatted with me and my husband for quite a while about the history of the place and how they are looking to expand to more locations. I had a burger that was cooked to PERFECTION. It was so big I had to take half home. My husband had the chicken sandwich and he raved about how good it was. I visited this location on Friday June 21st around 6pm in the evening. I ordered the country fried chicken with garlic mash potatoes. The waitress told our table that they did not have anymore but it will be a wait of 20 mins for a new batch. We all agreed to wait and asked to have our food brought out at the same time. She left and came right back with one order of the garlic mashed potatoes and country fried chicken with gravy in addition to two more plates of country fried chicken with no potatoes. She mentioned she was cool with the cook and they had extra which is why she was able to serve one. I then told her I no longer wanted my food because I wanted it brought out together. She left and came right back with a small bowl of mash potatoes and the country fried chicken. I proceeded to prepare and eat my food but I was still a little suspicious in how quickly our food was ready when she informed me it would be 20mins. I dumped my mashed potatoes on my plate out of the bowl and started to stir my food and behold their is a baby roach. The way this establishment handled this was ridiculous. The manager need more training because her apology was not believable and she thru her cooks under the table by saying they "aren't real cooks." I feel this was intentional period. Manager and owner said that they "gauge" people that return drinks. I returned a drink because it tasted like medicine. They insisted that I add something to the drink to my liking because they don't usually take returns on drinks. I asked what they meant by gauging people and they replied by saying to see if the restaurant is being taken advantage of. I was a bit confused about that and a little offended. The owner stated that plenty of other restaurants don't take returns on drinks and I told him that I never experienced anywhere else. I will never return to this restaurant. The food that we got was excellent...we had a big party and part of our order was missing. The waiter who was great was very apologetic and offered us drinks. We again were a large party at 2 tables and my wife and I didn't have our orders submitted (burgers) which we heard were really good. We did however get our appetizers and they were excellent. I had boneless garlic Parmesan wings and she had the nacho dip with chorizo...both excellent choices, our kids had wings, burgers, and a pizza which they all said were great. We can't wait to return at some point soon. We are from Richmond and this was in Portsmouth, as we were in town for my nephews basketball game. Great choice for food, I just have to be honest in my review, but again can't wait to return to try the burgers and other food options. Went with a friend the other day around 130pm and we had to wait 25 minutes before we were greeted at the table by our server . The server didn't see us apparently, but she was extremely apologetic. Once we got passed that hiccup the service was great. The food also took a long time to come out but... I know how staffing is around town so I'll be lenient. The food was great though, and the server was able to comp. us a free desert for all the trouble. I'd still recommend to friends and family. I'm sure this was an isolated incident.
