We started to worry when they walked us past the kitchen to take us to our table. But our table was upstairs. The restaurant is huge and the portions are also huge. Our family of five ordered the trio appetizer: spicy shrimp, Mozerella triangles, and calamari. It was a hit with my family. We had Cesar salad that was a regular Cesar salad. We had fettuccine Alfredo, cannoli, ravioli, and pasta with beef. Everything was good. The wait staff was attentive and nice. One of my favorite spots for Italian food. Just make sure you come hungry because you won't be able to finish your plate, especially if you're sharing. Super tasty and service is always top notch. I used to love this place! While the ambiance is still fun and lively, unfortunately the quality of the food has gone down and the prices have gone up...way up! I used to love the Chopped Antipasto Salad. A small size used to be large enough for two people, but now it's barely enough. The small size is nearly $30 and the menu says it's big enough for 2-3 people which isn't true. There's also barely any salami in it anymore. The portion of the salad has gotten a lot smaller. My friend and I also shared the stuff chicken dish and the portion size was small and it tasted bland. The service was friendly although the drinks took a while. I'm sad to say that I won't be back. There are better choices at the Citywalk with better food and more reasonable prices for the portion size. read more

Don't bother. The pasta was not fully cooked, the garlic bread was over priced and had barely any butter or crunch to it. It's only family style which is okay but for the amount of pasta it would be nice if it was fully cooked and had flavor. For the fettuccine and garlic brad total was $61 you can get a better deal and food at one of the other establishments on the walk. read more

Staff were nice so I don't feel like it's them but we have been getting the thanksgiving meal for years. This year the portions were much smaller and I don't know how we are going to feed our family. Just wanted to let people know, do not get thanksgiving catering or you will be disappointed. We spoke with the manager and she stated the portions were the same size but the containers changed to smaller containers, which doesn't make sense but again friendly interaction, just very disappointing. read more

It's finally happened. Prices have gone way up and portions have gotten way smaller. The small salads are smaller than what 1 person gets at olive garden and for just under $30... The chicken was $40 for 3 pieces...seems a little ridiculous to be honest. The tomato sauce is the same they use on every dish so our chicken was reminiscent of eating spaghetti but without the noodles. The pesto was the furthest thing from Italian I've seen to date. Barely green, looks like it's truly been Americanized. If this is what you call authentic Italian, you need a new CEO. The service was decent. Food and drinks too a while but that's expected for this location. Our server wanted us out asap so he could fill the table with new customers which was slightly rude butI get he needs tips. The atmosphere is classic buca di beppo. Italian feeling all throughout. It's a fun experience but for the inflated prices and deflated portions it's not a place I'll be coming back to anytime soon. read more

Always had a positive experience with this place. I've been here many many times. I love how the portions are shareable. The cocktails are good and the service is typically solid. I love how the restaurant is decorated. It's very fun. Whenever I go, I always see new things that I haven't seen before. It's got a romantic vibe perfect spot. Highly recommend making reservations. You can order a kids meal and get discounted parking which is why my daughter got a kids pizza, but she didn't eat it and she always eats pizza. It was underdone and spongy bread, not cooked well, and the red sauce and cheese were not covering enough to make it worth a proper meal. read more

This review is in regards to a delivery order. Whenever I get Buca I don't expect the absolute best food, but I do expect portions to be sizable and have a good value for my money type of meal. The pastas I ordered were completely fine and the usual good portion. However the Chicken Caesar Salad that they were selling for $17 was pitiful. Container was barely even half full and the chicken looked dry and old. Would order again for filling decent pasta but never touching their salad section again. read more

Made a reservation for this location almost two weeks ago for a table for two on Valentine's day. Got there a bit early and were seated rather quickly. Once seated and time to order we asked for the Valentine's day special for 2. However, the server informed us they were no longer selling the deal because they ran out. Then we asked for the $40 buca deal which was advertised on our menu, but server stated they were running that promo. We ended up settling for a small lasagna and a small caesar salad. After a few minutes the server came back to inform us they ran out of lasagna. We just decided with the spicy rigatoni after our choices were depleted. Our first night in Hollywood we chose Buca di Beppo. I had fond memories of eating at their SF location before they closed. I immediately felt taken back to great family dinners. We ordered family style. The mixed green salad was fantastic. Great crunch and flavor, just like I remembered. The Fettuccine Alfredo with Chicken was good, but it needed a bit more salt to bring out the flavor. The Brussel sprouts were extremely flavorful and the salty crunch from the prosciutto was the perfect complement. The red wine was good, but not great. My friend liked her white wine. The reason they get three stars and not five is for two reasons. When we checked in and gave our name, the hostess said it would be 10 minutes. After 20 minutes I went back in they said they text the number but it didn't work. I'm not sure why they didn't call out our name, that would've made more sense than giving away our table. I saw them call out other names. Unfortunately we had to wait an additional 10 minutes for our table. The second issue is the photographer took our photo when we sat down and it seemed really sweet. As we were eating she came back to show us the photos and when my friend said we would take two, she then told us that the photos cost. There was no waiting until after our meal, but she wanted payment right then and there. I thought it was tacky and disruptive to our meal. It would've been more appropriate for her to wait until after we finished eating. The food was great, but the service brought down their rating. read more

Wow! This place is incredible! Amazing service and food! We waited less than 5 minutes to get a table and it was a busy Saturday evening. We were served by Alberto and he had the best customer service! We felt like we were at a super fancy restaurant because he was so proper and kind. Food came out quickly and the portions are huge. We were here last Thanksgiving and we were fortunate that after watching a movie even without reservations for dinner, we were able to be seated with a reasonable amount of wait time. The food was alright and we were not that hungry too since we had popcorn and some snacks from the movie. We finally get to tried this Buca location in Universal Citywalk. However, it was a lackluster experience and we definitely won't be returning here. We ordered the Sausage & Mushroom Pizza, Penne Basilica, and Tiramisu. Each entree is made for 3 or more people so there were plenty of leftovers. The pasta dish wasn't flavorful and there was barely any chicken in it. The pizza was alright. The tiramisu was way smaller than before and did not have any rum flavor. The prices also went up and portion wise was smaller than before. Service was okay. They no longer offer the discount for Universal Studios pass holders, which is such a bummer. The establishment has 2 levels and the stairs to get up to the 2nd floor are kinda slippery and narrow. Restrooms were gross and stinky. read more

Had not gotten the chance to visit any of their locations in quite some time but found ourselves in City Walk and decided to stop in for lunch. We were hungry but not starving plus there was only 2 of us so we didn't want to get stuck with leftovers as we were going to Universal Studios afterwards. We shared their Buca Trio Platter that comes with fried mozzarella, calamari, and crispy spicy shrimp. This was way above what we expected. Each dish was very tasty and made very well. The mozzarella was in a robust tomato sauce and sprinkled with Parmesan, the calamari perfectly crispy with cocktail sauce that was topped with red chili flakes and the spicy crispy shrimp was exactly as described. It also had fried chilis that made it nice and tangy. To drink we ordered their Venetian Long Island iced teas and they were deliciously refreshing as well potent lol Our server was nice and friendly. My only complaint is that while we waited for the house bread so we could dip it into the sauces from our dishes we asked another employee bringing out food if she could get us some bread since we had been waiting quite a while and couldn't find our server. She responded with "You need to ask your server" and turned and walked away. I understand she wasn't our server and maybe not a server at all. But that response was really off putting as it was such a simple request of just house bread. Even if she had said "Let me notify your server" that would've been better than that. Her name was Jackie I believe. Afterwards we decided to move to the bar once we finished eating and got one more round. Pro tip: dip the house bread in the olive oil/balsamic mixture and then scoop some spicy shrimp onto it. Perfect bite! read more

The restaurant is good-sized and very trendy yet welcoming for families. Parking is $7 valet. They have a surprisingly big kid's menu and have a good mix of seafood and meaty entrees. Highly recommend the grilled Spanish octopus with white beans. Very tender. The Bruschetta was also very good - crispy at first bite but then super soft and melts in the mouth. Wife and I both got fish entrees. She had the chilean sea bass special while I went for the excellent bown-sugar smoked Scottish Salmon. It was a nice thick piece, but very moist and tasty. As for our entrees, I ordered the spinach lasagna and it was ok. The portion size was small but since lasagna is generally heavy I was able to finish it. BFF ordered the baked mostaccioli with Italian sausage added to it and his was a bigger portion. We had two soft drinks and some water with our meal and the total came to 110.00 incl tip. Ouch! Our server was friendly but not overly and the service was good. I really wanted to like this establishment but the food did not impress me at all. Italian restaurants are a dime a dozen in LA and I rarely make it to this area; therefore, I highly doubt I will be back.

You could have spooned the tartare like it was ice cream, but you certainly didn't mind the brioche slices tagging along. There were our mains: Dungeness Crab Campanelle, and the Braised Lamb Pasta. We went back and forth about ordering a side of Roasted Carrots, but you only have one specific birthday to start your mid-thirties, so I opted for it. If you've been reading my reviews, you know I don't go out of my way for seafood. I'll have a bite. I'll be as openminded as a foodie should, but it won't be invited to my cookout. I didn't hate the campanelle. The miso and aji Amarillo peppers gave this a really familiar tuna casserole profile. My wife asked me not to tell anyone that. But it brought me back to my childhood, where even then, I was not crazy about seafood, but I was mature in my thinking enough to know the casserole was going to feed me. If you observed us that night, I might've snuck a couple of forked noodles to taste the roasted almonds and some of the uni residue with the cheesy tones. The lamb pasta was the richest, fullest flavor I've had for pasta in a while. The lamb was abundant and savory and lean, providing such a serious punch when supported by the padano. It was a smidge creamy, and greasy - optimally speaking. It had such a dark and cheesy-bitter personality. The charred green onions probably were in the mix more than I anticipated. Roasted root vegetables are just very satisfying potatoes, at the end of the day. The carrots ate more like fun, herbaceous fries, showered in a vinegar concoction. Loved it. The chumichurri and togarashi spices aligned for a peppery bite. The vinegar did give the carrots a pickled skin so it was helpful for cutting through the brightness of the crab campanelle and the boldness of the braised lamb. Verse took the pressure on the night and gave us food baby diamonds. I'd say we're encouraged to check out more of the supper club scene after our visit. If the bar was set at any place, it was for the sensibility of how the music pairs with the food. The strings and the particular pitter-pat on the drums kept us going. It kept us talking. It kept us eating.

The total with tip was about $85, which felt EXHAUSTING to me (I thought it would be about $50, but I get it, inflation), and at this point I was hungry too. Unfortunately, my friend ended up following me into the restaurant and berating and abusing me (verbally) in there for about 2 hours. He also mentioned that he wouldn't be reimbursing me for the sandwiches because I insisted that he eat them (he only ate one, turkey, in a few absolutely disgusting giant bites). Cool cool cool (I didn't ask him for any money, and hadn't intended to). So that sets the stage. And to be fair, the sandwiches were pretty good, with the Roast Beef on a Pretzel Roll ($16) being the CLEAR WINNER for taste. The biggest issue for me? These sandwiches were way too expensive for the size of them. I needed two whole sandwiches to be full (and my appetite leans feminine, though tall). If I'd been full from one sammy, I think I would have given it all 5 stars, regardless of the unpleasant circumstances. But I ate two (I also had the pastrami on rye - I added cheese and it needed thousand island, but was otherwise yummy), plus a bag of chips and a coconut water, and it still didn't stuff me up enough to forget what I was doing there. Please put more meat and cheese on your sandwiches! Some of us are trying to save lives out here! FYI - My friend is no longer speaking with me, and has threatened to ruin my life with all of the "information [he] has on me (Like what? Do tell)," but please note that he is being cared for (and when he is well again, I will forgive him, but he will definitely be buying ALL of the sandwiches going forward).

We were celebrating a birthday party and I had made reservations for 15 in the Pope room for tonight at 7. Most of our party guests arrived 15 minutes prior to the reservation and were seated at 3 separate tables next to each other instead of the semi private Pope room. They were told that the room was reserved. When I arrived at 7 I explained to the hostess that the reservation was mine and that my party was seated at the wrong place. She told me that they don't do reservations and it's 1st come 1st serve and kept rolling her eyes at whatever I said. A manager approached me and said that he had a party of 11 and no where to sit them so they got the room instead of us, which is absurd because over 11 members of my party were there prior to them and they were told they could not have the room that we had already reserved days prior. The manager said well there's already people in that room and you can wait until they are done which won't be anytime soon and turned his back to me!!!! We were standing in the middle of the waiting area and no one even offered to show us the way to our party until I got mad and asked them to at least show us the way to our party. I would have walked out if it wasn't for the fact that we were there to celebrate a birthday and everyone was waiting on us. Instead of a celebration we were sitting at tables where we couldn't not even hear or see most of our other party members. Manager and greeting staff made us feel unwelcome right from the beginning and ruined our evening. Manager needs to take some lessons in providing customer service or get a different job because you don't turn your back on a customer, specially since I wasn't even yelling or using any profanities or anything of that sort. Never have I felt so disrespected! Shame on Bucca di Beppo for hiring such staff and managers. There's another review here a day before mine by a lady who was most likely serviced by the same rude hostess who just kept on saying, "WELL, I'm tell you we don't make reservations" and "WELL, that party had reservations before you", which again is ridiculous. How can they not take reservations and then have someone else make a reservation before me? I felt like I was talking to a 6 year old bratty child. Someone can and should review the cameras if there are any and train the staff accordingly. As for our food, it was delicious but 3 of the dishes we ordered never got served. We had to tell our waitress to remove it from our bill at the end of the evening when we were done with dessert already. ----- I did private message Bucca di Beppo as instructed by the person who read my review and someone contacted me saying that they were instructed by the corporate office to call and talk to me. I wish I had not received the call at all. He started out by saying that he's sorry about my bad experience but yelp reviews are not there for people to take "REVENGE" on businesses and that people think that that's what yelp is for but it's not. Then he explained to me what he thought what happened at the restaurant and I told him no that is not what happened to which he replied "Are you saying that I don't know what I'm talking about?" To which I relied "yes because you were not there and I was". And after that he said that I would not have known when the other party was seated which is absurd because the other was clearly visible to us. So I just told him that I really wish he would have not called me because right from the start when he called his approach was unapologetic and unacceptable for someone who's calling an upset customer who had a bad experience. Never ever will I go to this restaurant again and I will make sure to tell everyone about this experience in the future. It's not revenge when you tell the truth. ATTENTION ROBERT EARL. I just opened this account because I would like to bring to light something that is occurring at this establishment. Last year I witnessed a member of the staff inappropriately touching one of the servers and whispering something to her. The young lady appeared traumatized. He was in his fifties, short white hair and wore glasses. I was told he was in charge of special events or something like that. I immediately wanted to say something, but my husband told me to let it go and mind my own business. We resumed dining here several more times and I tried to push the occurrence to the back of my mind, until I witnessed it again. This time to a different girl. Grabbing her behind on the crowded staircase. I had enough. I callled the corporate number and waited for a call. When I did not hear back, I tried numerous times to no avail. Never considering calling the store directly for fear he would answer. I never wanted to return, but agreed to for a friend's birthday. On that visit, I asked about him and learned his name, Sven Richnow. I was shocked to learn he is not in charge of events, but the actual Vice President of their Southern California locations. Now I know why my calls were ignored. Knowing that the corporate office does not care, I have no choice but to take it to social media in hopes that it will get back to the owner or someone higher up than Mr. Richnow. He thinks he can get away with it because he is a powerful man and these young ladies will keep his secret because they are scared. Scared of losing their jobs, scared of retaliation or worse. I don't feel comfortable taking my family here. I do not want to see this again. I won't stop until the owner himself is aware of what a vile monster he has representing his company. It is a family establishment and has been apart of our family since before my youngest were born. I can't sleep at night knowing that innocent girls are being sexaully harassed/assaulted by this man.
