My kids took me to Budget because they had previously bought 2 cars from them with no issues. Less than two weeks after I purchased my 2011 Hyundai I encountered minor issues. Called my sales manager who assured me she would call me back within the hour. Fast forward 3 days and several calls later still have not talked to her after being ASSURED after each call she would call me back. The time finally came that everyone dreads...going car shopping. In the midst of the thrill, there's always the weight that eventually negotiations will have to take place. Although my credit is not the greatest, the owner (I believe his name was Fred) came out personally to greet me and break down all the options available for me. It is this kind of personal touch that society has gotten away from. Long gone are the days of common courtesy and respect. Rather, it seems people expect an impersonal experience and are more than happy to be shuffled around like puppets. Budget Motors has broken that expectation for me. Although I didn't end up making a purchase, the very fact that the owner took the time to greet me, sit me down, and explain how my various options would look, truly made a positive impact. The revelation that he was more than happy to work with me took me by surprise. These days, it seems like imperfect credit is akin to leprosy, in that anyone in the financial world passes you off as unworthy of giving money to them. Fred is not like that at all, and actually made my boyfriend and I feel not only comfortable, but that our business was wanted rather than needed. That's an amazing feeling. Again, although we did not make a purchase, we will be back when we are ready to make the dive into upgrading our vehicles. Buyer beware !! I'd give them negative stars if I could. Do not trust them. I put down 3500 on a car, part on my visa and part cash. Scott Rogers embezzled my cash, even though my contract stated the full amount paid they kept saying I failed to pay my down payment, Once I already signed the contract with no warranty Scott decided to add a $2500 warranty without my knowledge and then tried having my father who was my co-sign, sign it without letting him read it. Going in multiple times to talk to managers and they were very disrespectful, so eventually Cops were involved, they lied to the cops and tried to tell them I gave them a check and then canceled it, but I do not use checks, the owner started getting in my face yelling and demanding a new check from me the cops had to tell him to step away from me, then the Hispanic female I think her name is sandy, started slandering my name to everyone in the building including in front of other potential customers. Scott Roger still has not returned my cash payment even though I returned the vehicle. They are very unprofessional. And have lost all future business with me and everyone I know because trust me everyone I know will hear the way they handled everything. Now we have Simon here trying make up more lies... nice comment haha There was no loan, there was no repo, I even have proof that I returned the car to you as well as the police report that clearly states that. We've bought 2 vehicles from this dealership in the past year and our salesmen Ron Reems was fantastic. I wish I could say the same about the Upper management and Owner. The first car we bought from them was an 14 Equinox and that sale was fine and the vehicle was in good shape. We returned to Ron at budget this year to purchase a second vehicle and Ron again was excellent ! The problem came after the sale. We noticed on our contract an extra $300 fee named "Etch fee". We researched what this was and discovered it was an highly inflated fee for window etching on the vehicle in the case of theft. This process costs around $20 to do. The dealership marks up this process to $300 for profit. We were NOT told about this at time of signing with the finance mgr Scott. We obviously signed the etch fee paper but was not told exactly what we were signing and the agree box was already checked before being given to us. We called management at budget and inquired about being charged this fee without knowledge and was rudely told by Scott that it is purely for profit and given a ridiculous analogy on why and hung up. We took it to the next level and showed up in person to speak with the general manager or owner about this fee. We were met by Scott once again and he argued about this fee being a legitimate charge and as long as we signed the paper it was valid. We asked to speak with the owner and were taken to the owners son Simon. Simon looked at the papers and immediately commented that since we signed it that's not their problem. We explained the bad business practice and also the redirection Of signing the form to Simon and he only repeatedly gave the excuse that this is a business and in to make money. We asked to have the charge refunded and he told us it was not up to him but up to the financing bank. This did not sound accurate so we contacted the financing bank days later and asked them directly. The bank told us they have nothing to do with it since budget was already paid and they would have to do the refund not the bank. This was a pure distraction and lie on Simon's part which made us very concerned about the honesty of the management here. We then emailed Simon on what we've learned from the bank and he then replied to refund us the $300 minus the $30 for the etch process. Before we could collect on this Simon replies back and says after considering this offer he is now retracting it. He states that we slandered his business and contacted other customers about this fee. We very well did contact other customers about this fee and asked them if they noticed it on their contracts. The ones we contacted were NOT aware the etch fee was charged. Simon feels that by us contacting other customers about a true fact is hurting his business and creates slander and is libelous. We are still seeking payment back of the $300 which is a fair resolution. Simon has responded that we will be hearing from their legal team on this matter. We will persist to make sure honesty and integrity is given by budget even if it constitutes legal processes. read more

I traded in my previous vehicle and purchased a new (to me) vehicle and it was a great experience. They worked a bit on the price to allow me to stay within my budget and still get the car I wanted. Two days after purchasing the car, the turbo controller gave out (the car test drove fine and I think it was an unforeseeable fault for all parties concerned). I contacted the dealer and they took care of the problem for me, no money out of pocket, no hassle. I really appreciated that, The car is fantastic now and I was very pleased with the overall experience. I have a son coming of driving age soon, and I will definitely return to Budget Motors to browse vehicles for him. read more

Buyer beware!! My friend came out to this dealership recently and was so excited to find the car of her dreams. When she asked if the car had any salt damage they said no. When she drove it back to CA and had her mechanic look it over the next day to her surprise it was completely rusted. I bought a 1999 Porsche 911 C4 from Budget Motors. I live in Chicago and found their ad on craigslist as I was in the market for this car. They did everything I asked to ensure that I was satisfied when discussing the car with them. I believe I got a very good deal, and it was no haggle, just a few phone calls. They had new tires put on the car and they even shared part of the cost for them! Did an oil change to relieve some of my stress with this purchase as these engines are known for a few flaws. This car did not have them. Fred is a true car guy and it was a real pleasure to sit around the shop when I picked the car up, Sandy, Simon, and everyone else (I forgot the mechanic's name, sorry) was great! The salesman who greeted me was very kind. He brought me inside and asked about which trucks I wanted to see. He introduced me to a young salesman who would assist me. I expressed that I've been researching and narrowing down my picks through online data and now wanted to get hands on knowledge. They then introduced me to their assistant manager who was sitting nearby. This is where the visit went very sour very quickly. She was very aggressive and grilled me about my trade in, financing, down payment, and other various factors. She quickly became very put out that I wasn't willing to hand over tens of thousands of dollars within 5 minutes into this visit. She told me that they were "short staffed" and my test drive would be just a quick around the block and limited to one truck. As the polite salesman walked me to the truck I saw 3 other salesman standing around and not one other customer on the lot. I asked where I was to drive and followed his directions to the stop light. As I approached the light, the salesman's walkie talkie chirped. The assistant manager came on and said in a very unprofessional manner, "I told you a quick test drive around the block, you are going the wrong way." This was said to her "inferior" in front of a customer. All in all avoid this place. I wouldn't trust any used car dealership who treats people with disdain and an unprofessional attitude. I've bought two cars off of Adel. Done right by me both times. We grew to be friends.

I paid extra for a used car here thinking it would be good investment because it looked clean and in good condition for the age, and I needed it for my job to pay rent. They seemed trustworthy and attentive, but I guess it's my fault for thinking I could trust a car dealership. Total lemon. It has not ran decently since and I've had to spend twice the value repairing it. I can't afford to deal with car repairs like this. I live paycheck-to-paycheck and this has caused me great money troubles, and I'm deeply in debt now. This car has ruined my life. It should not be legal to sell cars like this without any kind of reassurance. There needs to be protection for consumers in Nevada so this doesn't happen to anyone else. My parents and I bought a 2009 Lexus rx350 from these guys this year.When I went to look at the car before my parents got involved it had a dead battery.I really liked the car and brought my parents back to test drive it.The battery had been charged,so the car worked great.My Mom fell in love with it.The car was overpriced by about $3000.Long storey short they reduced the price by $750.Before we took delivery of the vehicle they assured us that the battery had been replaced.It looked brand new.The very next day the car had a dead battery and wouldn't start.I called Budget and they said tough luck.They said well we reduced the price by $750. If you want a car that doesn't start and immediately has to be serviced this is the place for you. I test drove a car that didn't start on the lot and they told me they were going to replace the battery. Not only did they not replace it but the car is currently not driving. They offered to give $46 out of the $125 for a new battery. This place is a a terrible place to buy a car, they wouldn't even let me speak to the owner to resolve the issue. On Monday, I test drove a 2012 Toyota Tundra. The vehicle drove great and didn't have any problems as far as we could see. We ended up purchasing this vehicle, signed all the papers and picked it up Tuesday. By Tuesday afternoon, we started having problems. The 4lo and check engine lights on the dash were flashing. We immediately took it back to Budget Motors, only for them to clear the code and tell us the problem was solved. After driving it home, the same problem happened again. We took it to O'reilley's for them to check what codes came up and it came back with 14, all related to the transmission. We left it at Budget Motors Wednesday morning, for them to call us 20 minutes after opening and tell us two codes popped up related to the transfer case( which was a blatant lie). They said they had fully fixed these, and were certain the light would not come back on. Upon driving it home, the same problem happened a third time. We again took it to O'reilley's for the same codes to pop up as the night before. Wednesday evening we brought back the truck with the intent to take it back, as it potentially had serious problems, and they refused to help us fix it. I brought my parents along to help resolve the issues I was having. We were directed to Simon, and he was immediately condescending and round-about in his answers. We asked for a resolution to the issue with the Tundra and were asked for documentation of the issues as well as reminded of the contracts we signed saying the vehicle was our, "as-is". Clearly frustrated with his lack of effort to help us, he asked us to leave the building. Yes, we called him a jack-ass. Yes, he had earned that title. We stood outside, the remainder of our time there, with our 1 1/2 year old son in the 30 degree weather. At this point my mom called RPD and my boyfriend and I test drove a different vehicle after working with Sandy to see what our options were. She was incredible throughout the process and remained professional and helpful when Simon couldn't. She worked on getting us approved for the new vehicle, a 2011 Toyota Tacoma. As we were signing the papers for the new vehicle, my step-dad tried to have a conversation with Simon explaining how he knew the smog was faked initially and how he was taking advantage of me by selling me a car in that condition and ignoring the issues we were having. Simon would not engage in this conversation and replied, "I don't like the way you are approaching me, we are not having this conversation, have a good night." What kind of business owner can not do business with his own customers? Had it not been for Sandy, we would have left the lot doing no business with them. When we asked our sales associate if we needed to go get gas maybe he went on to explain that we will make it and this is typical because the owner doesn't allocate extra money for putting gas in the vehicles. My previous review of their shady ways was MY experience and instead of apologizing or working to clear up his issues, he now refuses to complete the transactions between us. Sorry buddy if the truth hurts. This was my experience with your company. I KNOW I'm not the only past customer who had issues with your practices. Your staff called my husband to come pick up the license plates on my trade in, and when he stops by today, you make him wait 20 minutes only to bring him into your office, show him MY review if your services, then ask him to explain MY opinion of your business. Then you say to him ... why should I help you after your wife writes this type of review? You refused to surrender my plates to him so he left. Sir, you are in the auto business! You should know that when a car is traded into you, you are required to surrender those plates ... it's Nevada law! Your customer may not know that, someone will depend on you to be thorough, honest and ethical. As you told my husband ... my review hurt you and this is your livelihood. But your refusal to surrender plates because my opinion of you just proves my point. I think a phone call to me expressing concern over my experiences with you might have made me get back on Yelp and explain that you care about your customers. All you did today was confirm that you are a company to avoid. Update - 05/10/2015 Three bad seals costed me around $800 to fix the oil leak. The mechanic installed a brand new 02 housing(because of the California Smog and forced wrong screws into the holes. What mechanic would do this? Now there are exhaust leaks because of this and will cost me hundreds if not thousands to fix. read more

This company started out fine. I was happy with the price of the car and my trade. Upon completing my original paper work I expressed interest in buying the warrantee which I was told would take a few extra days to process. They informed me when the final paperwork was ready in two days I'd have to sign the new transaction which in fact would include the warrantee. Two days later when Jake came to meet me to have me sign it I expressed an issue with the cigarette lighter not working and that I wouldn't be signing anything till things were all working correctly. I checked the fuse replaced it and every since then all these lights on my dash have been going off including a damping control signal and parking brake signal. At that point I told them I would like to bring the car in and quite possibly they could let me drive my trade till it was repaired or even a loaner car. This is when it went all bad. They informed me its my car now and my problem. I was not inclined to sign paperwork the day Jake came as we were dealing with the dash lights and it concerned me. They further told me since I didn't sign the papers that day I was completely out the option to have any kind of warrantee now too. I was told to bring it down and they would look at it that following week which is a 55 minute drive for me. We scheduled a day and time at which point upon arrival nobody seemed to be aware I was coming. This is when they told me the mechanic that normally works in Bmw was not in the shop today. Needless to say they had someone else dink around with it but to no avail. Joe said he would order the part and let me know when it was in. I went home and continues to drive the car with all these dash lights blinking at me. A week later I still haven't heard from anyone and when I called to ask if they ever got the part they mentioned because I never came in for my scheduled appointment last week (untrue) there pretty much off the hook. I asked can the warrantee that I expressed interest in cover these issues? and again they told me I'm no longer entitled to it because the day Jake drove to Tahoe I never signed it. A couple days later I got a call from Simon saying I could bring the car down and they would need a couple days to look at it and they would let me know the costs of repair. Also I expressed I would need a vehicle and he informed me I was on my own. They in fact would not give me a loaner. I also mentioned on the contract I was promised two keys at which point he said he would let me know how much it would cost but it was supposed to be included in my purchase as stated on my contract. It was even in writing on my contract to give me two keys. I called Jake and he said he would look in the packet but they already did the day I purchased, and we all know there was only one key in the packet but they still promised me two key. I never received my paper in the mail to get my new registration and they said they sent it and when I went to pick up my plates Jake straight up lied and told me he stuck them in the back of my new car. By this time a month has went but I have no plates, no spare key, blinking dash lights daily, and I have to register the car so I call them to tell them I need to register the car and I have to pick up whatever forms since I never received them plus I will now have to file for a lost stolen plates since they lost them. I called Jake to let him know I'll be by to pick them up. Upon arrival the form isn't ready and again Jake never gathered the form and the big boss joe looks at me and tells me that's going to take some time and informs me their secretary isn't around and they needed to know I was coming, but I told them four days ago I would need to come buy to pick it up. By this point I am clearly dealing with a bunch of idiots that don't really care obviously they don't care about how their car buying experience goes. These people have been horrible to do business with and even when they put things in writing there not good for it. I am now going to the better business bureau, Attourney General, and dmv. Simon got notice from BBB about my complaint and just called me yesterday and informed me they will no longer be helping me and this concludes our business. read more

We bought our vehicle from here 3 months ago. 3 weeks after buying it the engine light came on. 4 weeks after it died, wouldn't start. Knowing the dealer wouldn't help, I took it upon me to have the tow truck take it to Cadillac Dealership. They fixed whatever the diagnosis came up. 1 week after that it dies again, doesn't start. I take it again to the Cadillac dealership this time they say a different code is coming up and something is wrong with the key. I again to get it fixed. Two weeks after it shuts down AGAIN, won't start. Again I take it to the Cadillac dealer they tell me another code is coming up, at this point I'm fed up and mad. We purchased a "new" vehicle because our old car was giving us issues. We needed " a reliable car". So I don't have them fix it because they say each time it goes in a new code comes up. So now i go to budget with all my receipts of all the times the vehicle has been there, Simon starts talking about how big dealerships will rip you off and only want your money. Did I mention the warranty they sold us for $3,000 doesn't cover much?! So he tells me he will call his "agent" at the warranty company and he will get back to me next day. I waited one week and never heard back. I called and he says the warranty told him they've been trying to get a hold of someone at the Cadillac dealer but they won't return their calls! At this point my engine light is still on and guess what happened again last week? Yup...wouldn't start again and had to get towed AGAIN!!! I called Simon again and he had the nerve to tell me he's been trying to call me several times and has left several messages for me ( which is total bull) to tell me warranty will fix a small part of the problem. But again, blames the Cadillac dealership that they can't get a hold of anyone. Which I know is a lie because they've tried to help us out more that Budget. Our biggest regret is have bought our car here. Should have just stayed with my own unreliable car. Isn't that the point of getting something "new"? So here we are with a damn car that I won't drive much anymore because I'm afraid it will leave me somewhere like it has done about 5 times. PLEASE!!! Please take your business elsewhere, as I'm reading these reviews I see this isn't there first time selling crappy cars that they clearly know have major issues. Went to this dealership because I'm trying to sell my car (A Subaru STI) told them how much I wanted for it which mind you is about 1,000 more than blue book TRADE IN VALUE. Not anything crazy. Especially since my car has aftermarket parts. They inspect it comment on how gorgeous and well kept it is then the owner Fred takes it for a test drive and I ride along, not only does he scrape my car on the way out bad and feel no remorse about it he then RED LINES it constantly I'm talking up to 7k RPMS and kept driving it there, did not stop or shift. All the while burning my clutch and slamming on the brakes. When I commented on it he simply says "I have to test the car" what he was doing was abusing my car. Not testing it. After it's all said and done he goes yeah I can't give you anywhere near what you want for you car and it can't be financed because of the miles (only has 120K which isn't a lot and is financeable. I know for a fact). They where disrespectful to me and to my car. (I have been offered what I'm asking at other dealerships in Reno already I just was shopping around, so I know they're full of shit). I WILL NOT GO BACK TO THIS DEALERSHIP TO BUY/SELL/TRADE. I had bought a 2012 Ford F-150 from Budget Motors on Veterans Day in 2016. I was very happy with my experience. My girlfriend at the time even left them a 5 star review here on Yelp. The truck has been fantastic to me. No complaints there; however, after 4 years I felt it was time for an upgrade. I contacted my buddy who works for Lithia to get the ball rolling on this, and this is where my disdain for Budget Motors begins. After pulling my CarFacts report we find that the truck I purchased was in fact in 2 collisions prior to me owning it, 1 of which caused 10K+ worth of damage, thus diminishing the value of my truck. Fred, at Budget Motors on Kietzke lane, Reno. Told me: "I'm sorry but I don't sell cars to people who don't shake hands", and refused to sell me a car. When he came to shake hands with a Muslim woman who was accompanying me, wearing a scarf and she couldn't shake hands because of her religious belief. Altho she greeted him and smiled. He left us outside and went inside, and didn't let any other salesmen assist us so we left. I felt extra sad because Fred himself comes from a minority in Iraq that me and my family support and post about their struggle every day in social media, and because he knows better being from such a multicultural area, and because I met him recently and really liked him and thought he was cool. I personally may not agree about how the lady reacted, but in USA I learnt to respect people's personal beliefs even if I didn't find them reasonable. Also, I was the one buying the car not she. I also gave him benefit of the doubt and called later hoping it wouldn't be an issue and maybe he'd realize it wasn't the best reaction from his side, but he never called me back. read more
