That was a bit confusing since the restaurant was empty other than a couple of people at the bar - but I tried to be understanding. Our food arrived quickly, but still no drinks. Our server told us again the bar was just running behind. I questioned further, but was told there was nothing we could do. 30 minutes passed before we got our drinks - it totally killed our vibe and we got the check and were out of there. His table touching skills were unmatched and by the end of the night, we felt he deserved the tip more. All drinks and food was brought out in a timely manner. Food: The few times we did see our server, when ready to order he recommended the shrimp which turned out to be our favorite item. It was packed with so much flavor and came with toasted bread. We also ordered the patatas bravas and the empanadas. For tonight the filling was chicken, it was a bit underwhelming as it could've used more salt. But the potatoes were delicious, it came with a drizzle of garlic aioli and a spicy sauce. The portion size was very decent too, definitely enough to share with 2-3 people. The spanish grilled cheese was very unique with the combination of the manchego cheese and the garlic aioli. I thought it was very flavorful and creamy to the bite. I also really liked the goat cheese fritters which had a strong complement with the creaminess of the goat cheese and the sweetness of the sauce underneath. I pass by Buena Vida every time I'm walking the Beltline. Finally got the opportunity to visit with a girlfriend, and boy! This place is everything!! Our server was wonderful. He did a great job explaining the menu and advised his favorite dishes. My friend and I decided to share four items: crispy brussel sprouts, a fried chicken dish with a spicy honey sauce, brisket tacos, and patatas bravas. Every single thing was amazing! While Buena Vida has some of the friendliest service and best ambiance on the Beltline, I found the food to be just okay on our recent late-night visit on Saturday. We stopped in with a large group and were immediately seated at a back table. After being greeted by our helpful server, we settled in with some pretty solid margaritas and gin and tonics. Our sampling of tapas was fine, if a little uninspired, with the brussels sprouts being a stand-out. While not my favorite restaurant in town, I would pop in again for a drink at their nice, vibey bar while in the area. read more

Buena Vida is one of my go-to places and I've been going for years now. I usually get the brussel sprouts, the pimenton chicken and the patatas bravas. They are all consistently good. The portion sizes have gotten smaller in the past year or so for some items, but food and labor cost have gone up, so I understand. The food, vibe, inside or patio environment and the service are great. They have nice backgrounds for pics too. The last time I was there, our waitress Aymmeri, was excellent! Y'all, I was very surprised to hear they've been open for 4 years. My 3 stars are for service. The service is great and the staff are really nice. The food, however, is HORRIBLE!!! We tried several different items and only the beef short rib nailed it. They had to take it back at first because it wasn't hot. When it came back out, it was fine. We eat out 5 days a week and usually we can gage what the chef is doing when putting together items and pairing it. I don't know what planet this chef is on! He/she are WAAAYYY off!! The smoked chicken portion was huge, but it was dry. It was paired with some potatoes that just didn't go with it. There are no vinegar-based dressings in the restaurant so if you order a salad, you will only get what they offer. The salad's they offer are too sweet. I guess the chef assumed everyone has the same pallet. You should invariably offer different options of salad dressings. And at least keep a bottle of oil and balsamic vinegar to be on the safe side. Again, everyone doesn't have the same pallet! The chef tried to make us some fried item with mushrooms in it but that was nasty too. It was too mushy. The white sangria was even nasty. They also don't offer any asparagus, broccoli, kale corn, etc to go with their items. A nice soup would help too. We ended up going to Agave afterwards. Eclipse di Luna tops Buena Vida by 10000%. We then ordered the chef's selection of charcuterie which was good, but slightly underwhelming as there's usually some nuts and more additions for a $25 board. Patatas bravas and the brussel sprouts were 10/10 delicious and HUGE portions! Octopus was really fishy for some reason, very chewy too... wouldn't order again. We also ordered salmon which was just a mess. We got it an hour later than expected and our server even came up to us and asked "did you still want the salmon? my manager said that you didn't want it anymore" ... ummmm no manager ever came up to us? we did see the manager walking around every OTHER table around us and offer salmon but they didn't order it. After a huge delay in getting our salmon (no joke. over an hour after placing our order), we got it and it was pretty underwhelming as well. As the salmon set us back a long time (spent almost 30 extra minutes waiting for that), we finished our dinner and gave our server the parking ticket to validate. He said he validated it but we then went to the garage and left, having to still pay $15. It was honestly a real bummer to end the dinner with the salmon and parking ticket drama. Was honestly expecting the salmon to be comped for all the troubles at least... I completed a customer survey at the end and told them about the parking validation and salmon errors and got a reply that pretty much said "sorry but not really our mistake!", I was expecting maybe some compensation for my $15 parking fee that was not covered. read more

I haven't been here since the pandemic started and I really only frequented it for their happy hour. The food was meh back then but has since gotten a facelift. My friend opted for wine while I chose the standard delivery of calories to my belly. Beef tartare over bone marrow?!! What in the world?!! Gorgeously good. It was my friends first time ever trying beef tartare and although she was a bit apprehensive, she soon had no problem helping me scrape the plate into our respective mouths. We also had the creamy rice, crispy chicken, eggplant montadito, and mushrooms croquettes. All really great dishes in their own right. My only gripe with the montadito was that there was too much sesame brittle and it masked the eggplant. There was a special that we were so lucky to try. Braised pork belly in a chickpea soup that was delishhhhhhh. We ordered some grilled bread to sop up the broth and it was everythinggggg. Would definitely come back again. The staff was nice but wasn't the warmest. However, the hostess did accommodate our request to sit in the room directly to the left once you enter the restaurant. This place is a lil hidden gem. Very nice location with a cute patio and plenty of bar sitting. Ample vegetarian and vegan menu. Very friendly staff and very tasty food. Everything I had was very tasty. The only thing I didn't like much was the margarita, which was a pity, but it was very watered down and not very nicely done. Since they were very busy I will say it could be due to that so I might try again. Before we left we were offered, by who I think was the manager, a taste of one of their sweet vermouth, which was a really nice gesture that I haven't seen in restaurants in a long time. Visited Buena Vidas for brunch on 4/23/23 to celebrate my birthday. This restaurant did not disappoint! We had Preston as our server and he was phenomenal - he was attentive, friendly, and had ample knowledge of the menu. For example ordered the spicy margarita based on his recommendation and he didn't miss a beat when telling me where the spicy notes would come from and how sweet it would be. For my friend he broke down the bitter, sweet and, sour aspects of her drink so that he could make sure she was happy with her choice. By the way this was the best spicy marg I have ever had. The Brussels sprouts are the best I have ever had - perfect balance of flavors. Not too acidic not too sweet and have the perfect crisp. The Patatas Bravas were also amazing - fried to perfection and with a great pairing of sauces on top. Also had the Gambas - the shrimp were great size and came with a great amount. The atmosphere and interior here is truly 5 stars and beyond. Having just visited Cancun, this was very reminiscent of Mexico. So many great photo opps here. The brunch menu wasn't very big but had very unique offerings. I didn't opt for a cocktail but they had an entire back page on brunch drinks, and even a CBD concoction. I tried the chicken and biscuit. I found it a bit dry, both the biscuit and the chicken, but thought the fruit portion was adequate. Of everything I ordered, the Crispy Pimenton Chicken was the only good item. The sauce with the chicken was very tasty and had a nice sweet but slightly spicy flavor which was satisfying. However, I would definitely not recommend any of the other items though. The stuff plantains were very dry and almost flavorless. The ceviche and patatas bravas had very little flavor as well. The service was fine, nothing to brag about but our waiter was very kind. The ambiance was very pretty and the place was full of lively people. I ordered the patatas bravas and the two dipping sauces it came with were amazing. One of my friends got the mushrooms croquettes and she said "I thoroughly enjoyed the outer shell and as it broke it introduced me to a mushroom euphoria. The taste was dancing on my tongue and the mashed potato below it was great to dip into". The flan French toast was also tasty and not too sweet and enough for two to share. The grits were kind of bland as a side though. The mimosas we got were pretty good and strong and we ended up each having 5 in the 90 minutes of bottomless. There's parking at this location as well and 2 hours are free with validation. The location is on the beltline and is walkable to other breweries and restaurants. I came here after work for some tapas and drinks on a weeknight. It wasn't packed in there, but not sure if it's because of the time of year, the fact that it was a Wednesday, or if it's always that empty around 6pm. We had a nice-sized group, so we shared a lot of plates. The dietary restrictions and preferences of our group varied (vegetarian, pescatarian, and vegan), so we ordered from all parts of the menu to make sure everyone was able to try a few things. I'm only reviewing the things I tasted: Patatas Bravas - these might've been the best thing I ate during our meal. You can't really mess up potatoes and thank goodness they didn't! They could've been crispier, but then I might have eaten the whole plate of them by myself. Empanadas - the sauce they came with was tasty, but the empanadas on their own were forgettable. Manchego Mini Burgers - I found both the meat and the bread to be quite dry. The bread tasted a bit stale and the meat may have been overcooked, which made it dry. Champinones Al Ajillo - These mushrooms had a weird texture so I didn't enjoy them. Grinch cocktail - the little clip-on thing to the drink was clunky, but then I realized that it was a little "gift" inside. It was one of those "put it in water and watch it grow" things. The private dining area was nice upstairs - probably could fit up to 25 people comfortably. The staff was friendly, so no complaints there. Before coming for dinner, I'd been interested in coming for brunch, but I'm not sure it's a priority for me. I'm talking about a robust combination of flavors that come together within each dish and provide your mouth and stomach with a beyond enjoyable experience. It's as if each dish is crafted for maximum flavor attack and is created to melt in your mouth and make your stomach say "ooh!" The plates are small in size but HUGE in Flavor and Temperature perfection. The Short Rib is melt in your mouth tender and sits in a savory sauce that makes you swallow slowly and enjoy it as it sits in your mouth. The only decent aspect of this restaurant was the food it was actually really good when you could actually get some. It is almost comical and unbelievable how the evening went. We have eaten here before so we were really shocked and disappointed on how things went. We had a reservation. The hostess acted like we were bothering her and it was a stretch to get us a table. Should have taken that as a sign and bail. It took them 10 minutes to seat us even though there were plenty of tables. Once seated, we were not given any menus. Was told by hostess it would be 10 minutes until menus were available. How does that even happen? We sat for 30 minutes before anyone ever came to check on us. Another 5 for menus. Placed our entire order. Took 10 minutes for water. They brought 1 drink out. After sitting for even longer, the manager came over. We told him about missing 2 cokes and a drink. I think he actually went and got them himself. We waited again for 2 of our 6 plates of food. We still didn't have any plates or silverware. Eventually, another plate came out, which is when the waitress then told us that she would put the rest of our order in. Why? Why wasn't it already put in? Of course, this meant another 30-45 minute wait. While we were still waiting on our food, the waitress asked if we wanted dessert. Another plate came out and then they told us one of the items we ordered was not available anymore. It really was like what else can go wrong. I almost wondered if we just got the bad service until we ran into a friend there too, and said they were having the same experience. My friend and I were out for a long bike ride Saturday when she suggested we stop at La Buena Vida for lunch. And so we did. We pulled up our bikes and left them where we could see then from the patio (hadn't brought the locks with us) and got a lovely table on the terrace under an umbrella. The tables are far apart. They're cleaned between each customer. The menus are only used once and then replaced. And waitress Jasmine was wearing a face mask. The gin and topics were great. The tapas -- tortilla española, patatas bravas, and mushroom croquettes (croquetas de champignon) -- were excellent. And the music? Lovely with a great play list of salsa. So this was our first meal out since March 5. March 5!! These were not the best tapas ever, but they were fabulous if you know what I mean. We were living la vida buena. read more

The vibe of this place is pretty cool and is super cute. There's one picture wall that everyone loves. The bar is very nice as well. I went with a couple folks from work and we all really enjoyed the cocktails. For a pretty large group size the service was pretty quick. The drinks never took long and there was always someone checking on the table. The food sometimes was on the slower side but I understand that given that we were a group of 20 or more. The cocktails were DELICIOUS, get the lychee 75 if you enjoy lychee and almost everyone in the group loved south of Spain (very beautiful looking drink too). The food didn't stand out to me too much. The shrimp was delicious but the potatoes and Brussel sprouts were just not my taste I think. Overall really enjoyable experience! read more
