There's just something unexplainably tasty about Korean fried chicken. The wings here are much larger than expected. Both the drumsticks and wings have plenty of meat on them, and they're super juicy with great flavor. You can get them in orders of 6, 12, or 24, and I highly recommend getting 24 (it's the best value). I tried the garlic parmesan, umami soy, and hot and crispy. Out of the 3, hot & crispy is the clear winner. The breading isn't overly greasy and it's extra crispy. Getting them mild gives each bite a bit of a spicy kick to really enhance the flavors and make them even more addicting. The umami soy was a bit sweet for me, and the glaze rendered the wing not as crispy. The garlic parmesan is a mess to eat, so have plenty of napkins ready. Each wing is slathered in a garlic sauce (but I didn't get a real garlic flavor) before a healthy amount of shredded parmesan cheese is thrown on top. There's so much cheese that the wings are lost underneath. There are also plenty of traditional Korean appetizers, house specials, and a decent selection of beers and drinks to help you wash everything down. Service was pretty quick and friendly. read more

It's usually pretty difficult to please someone like me but my experience at Bunker was HORRIBLE. My family had just gotten back from Vegas and we were craving Korean fried chicken and found Bunker on yelp. We sat down right away since there were many empty tables and ordered 3 orders of fried chicken, ddukbokki, and the cheese fries. Let's start with the cheese fries. The dish was mediocre--it didn't look difficult to make at all and definitely not worth the price. The ddukbokki was also mediocre considering I've tried this dish in other Korean fried chicken restaurants. There was nothing much to like about it--wouldn't recommend it. Just stick to the fried chicken. Now, this is the frustrating part about this restaurant. They advertise that they don't use any frozen products which means making the dish takes longer. I can understand that--who wouldn't want fresh fried chicken. So, my family waited for our chicken orders which came out much later than the other dishes. The first chicken dish (original) was fine and then 10 minutes later, the Parmesan chicken dish came out. We just felt like we were waiting at least 10-15 minutes in between each dish. THEN, we waited a pretty long time when we see the table next to us (who had just arrived 5 minutes ago) receive the last dish (soy chicken) that we had ordered. Something was def wrong so we checked with the server and he goes to discuss this with someone in the back. There's obviously something wrong and quite visible they made a mistake. This is what gets me. It's okay if you make a mistake but it's NOT okay if you just ignore the situation and not let the customer know. It's like they were choosing to be avoid the situation completely until my brother asked, "is something wrong with the order?" in which the server stated that there was. Cmon man.. you could have told us that like 10 minutes ago instead of ignoring our entire table. My brother had to literally educate the server and tell him what to do in future situations like these. Food is meh. Service is horrible. Never going again. Please educate your workers. Side note: Servers made a mistake on the next table too. They brought out a wrong dish so the customers ended up taking that dish togo after waiting to receiving the ACTUAL dish they ordered. Pretty decent korean gastropub chicken wing joint. I came here on a Tuesday night and we tried 12 piece wings with half garlic soy and half sweet spicy, a beef bee bim bap and street corn. The wings are good, they are fackin massive tho for a wing joint, most korean fried chicken places they are much smaller, so you get a long of bang for your buck when you order the wings. The sauces were on point, I did find that crispy crust on the chicken was a bit thicker than i'd like, it's seriously a crust, not like the thin barely there style like most kfc joints. The beef bee bim bap w/ egg was decent ok, although i'm not sure what their thinking process was, but the bowls they use are straight up from Daiso ( I know this cause I have same bowls at home). It's honestly too small a bowl to use, it was kind of a bitch to mix up the ingredients without spilling food on the table. Street corn was good and different, but It was kind of hard to justify it's price. You don't really get that much of it, but then again, you can only eat some much of it, cause it's pretty heavy. Flavor is good tho, I'd probably order it again. They have a decent selection of beers on tap, although they were out of my first two choices of beer. Prices are reasonable for the pours. Menu Items I Ordered: Fried chicken Umami Soy: this is a very basic flavor but you can't go wrong with it. It's like sweet glazed soysauce that is savory and the crunch is still there even after it is drenched in sauce. Fried chicken Sweet Spicy: I feel like this is also a very basic korean sauce flavor. Not my favorite but it's still good. If you know what the ddukbokki sauce tastes like it's like that but the flavor is more condensed and stands out. Its like the boiled it down to create a sauce that is thick enough to stick to the chicken but not super thick to the point where all you are eating is sauce. I would describe this as spicy, sweet, spicy. This kind of spicy isn't a shocking kind of spicy I would say. If you can handle your spice it's about a mild/medium. Toppoki w/ dumplings: it's about the same everywhere you go (unless you go to a place that specializes in it), but there was an option to add dumplings so why not. The dumplings dipped in the sauce makes a great mouthfeel and combo btw. Kimchi fried rice: LITERALLY THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE MEAL. The cheese is so stretchy and all the flavors just blend together and get lost in a gooey oozy cheese pull. After you mix it up I reccommend you let it sit in the stone pot for a little so you can have some scorched rice which add texture to all the meat and cheese in it. Bunker21 is the winner in my book! I have long bragged about the wings at Koko's but after checking out the wings at Bunker21, it has taken my top #1 spot. There are 7 different types of wing flavors and I appreciate that Bunker21 provides all 7 because sometimes you don't always feel like eating the typical Korean Sweet & Spicy Gochujang. That is one flavor but they also have Naked, Garlic Parm, Sweet Soy aka Umami Soy, Hot, Crispy, Hot & Crispy. We tried tonight was the Garlic Parm and the Soy Wings. The Garlic Parm is a flavor bomb and you must love garlic because it has a garlic punchy flavor. The Garlic Parm is heavily sauced and sprinkled with lots of parmesan cheese. Yes, these garlic parm wings are smaller but you have to understand that these wings are not battered fried. These wings would be a great compliment if complimented with something really bland. It just has really great flavor. The 2nd type of wings we got were their Umami Soy, the typical sweet soy wings. I have to say it was delish and really hits the spot. They got the batter just right along with coating the sauce just right. This one of the reasons why Bunker21 takes my top spot over Koko. The wings were not overly sauced to make the wings soggy. On top of that, the crunchy texture seems to last longer throughout our meal. I can just imagine all the other deep fried wing flavors and having that same crunchy texture. On top that we ordered fried jalapenos and it was crunchy, slightly pickled spicy and definitely hits the spot. It is crunchy, flaky, abs also falls right off the chicken. We ended up ordering about 36 pcs of wings alongside with corn cheese and kimchi fried rice. This place is really chill. All of their dishes are pretty good. We ordered different types of fried chicken and fries with our beer. Great Customer Service! Yesterday, my party came in around 8pm and we left a reservation for 8pm. Unfortunately there were a lot of people on top of us so we could just tell that it was going to take awhile. On top of that they were short staff to two servers; Mia and Eric. Maybe they were having an off day or so, but everything that we got were not up to par. I ended up getting a grilled chicken sandwich, looked great, but it was bland. Update: I received a very angry message from the BUNKER 21 staff. Talk about character. My first visit was a to-go order. The server girl rushed my order without packaging the food correctly. It ended spilling. I'd understand if it was busy but their was 1 table eating when I went. I let it go and wanted to give it another chance. The second visit was even worse. Three servers leisured at the counter eating and talking amongst themselves while ignoring the customers. The counter where the servers make the salads was DIRTY. Be careful when you eat their salad. I love korean fried chicken and was excited to see this open up in Artesia. It took over where MyungDong used to be (RIP Myungdong) and has a hip and modern vibe to it. I tried their spicy chicken wings and the spicy fried chicken bowl with kimchi fried rice. Boy was I surprised by how spicy the wings were. Often times at korean fried chicken locations, the spicy wings are more sweet than hot, but this caught me off guard. The initial taste of the wings are crispy, juicy, and sweet, but suddenly you get the hit of spice that lingers. It is a habanero kind of fruity spice that I usually am not the biggest fan of, but it worked very well on the crispy wings! The hot chicken in the bowl was completely different and personally my favorite. It's like a more garlicky asian version of Nashville hot chicken. It was very juicy and flavorful and crispy and the perfect complement to savory kimchi fried rice. We live in South Bay California which is about 30-45mins away from us and I will say: IT WORTH THE DRIVE!!!! It's so good that I dragged my husband to try this place the very next day. Why is it worth the drive? Because the food is that good! Flavors are all there. Mouth watering just thinking about it. We tried basically everything on the menu with regrets. Though it takes a long time for our food to come, it lives up to their guarantee that every food order is cooked fresh and not frozen. I love their sauces. They are not too spicy, not too sweet. Sauce for the wings are just right for me. They also have big servings. You really get what you paid for. I'm a fan of late night spots and this one is one that everyone should definitely try! Most places open late I wouldn't venture to eat there during the day but this one is a different story. The decor is nice, simple, and stylish. Everything is clean and well kept. There were two servers when we came in about an hour before closing and both were friendly, polite, and checked in with us often. We ordered a chicken bowl with kimchi fried rice (+1 upcharge) and the deokbokki with ramen noodles. Both dishes were really yummy and the upgrade to kimchi fried rice is soooo worth it. They add tortilla chips to the bowl for an added crunch and serve it with a chili pepper on the side. Love the innovation! My only gripe is the chicken was dense and tough so I didn't particularly enjoy it. Maybe it was an off night since the other reviews say their chicken is bomb.
