Is it the best day spa I've ever been to? No, but it was pretty decent. This place is tiny, so get used to cramp common areas, busy hallways and constant talking or noise. The staff keep the spa area very clean which means they are constantly doing something. Which is weird to say, but it makes it hard to relax when there is constant trash being pick up, laundry picked up, floors mopped and counters wiped. I think I said "excuse me", a thousand times because I felt like I was always in their way of cleaning. My massage was nice, the 80 minutes flew by fast but I walked always feeling completely satisfied. My facial was less enjoyable, what's the point of dimming lights and playing soft music when you have a steam machine that constantly makes a loud beeping noise?! The girl that did my facial was constantly moving the table up and down, which I'm assuming has some sort of hydraulic break because every time she moved it, it not only made a loud noise but jolted making me jump every time. She talked to me throughout the facial and kept trying to sell me products. It definitely was not relaxing. This place wouldn't be bad for a quick maintenance facial or quick massage, but definitely not an all day spa. We had a family event in South Orange County and left that event to go to our special day in Pasadena. In route about an hour before our appointment we received a call from the spa canceling one of our appointment. They sounded excited on the phone as to reschedule one of us. I went in a couple months ago for a Salt Glo and a Spa Style facial. The scrub was okay, I would have liked a bit more of an aggressive scrub (I'm used to the akasuri scrub in korean spas) BUT I loved the cascading waters in the wet room and my technician was very kind. The facial was phenomenal! Mohani is a sweetheart and made my skin glow! As for the amenities, I love the eucalyptus steam room and the dry sauna. I had a facial done here and the results were not good. In fact, I had an allergic reaction to their products (I've never had an allergic reaction before to any facial products), and my face swelled up and heated up about an hour or 2 after my treatment. I went to a dermatologist the next day and told her what I did, what I ate before the reaction and while she said I would not be able to prove it, it is likely the facial. It caused a burn to my face and took 2 weeks to heal. I gave Burke Williams 2 stars because on a separate occasion before the above experience, I had a body scrub done there and it was very relaxing and my skin did feel a bit softer after the treatment. Burke Williams in Pasadena is an icon. Yes, the building is located in a historic Old Pasadena structure and yes, you will hear noise. You will also have to walk down Mills Alley which has dumpsters and the occasional homeless person, it's probably the safest place in the San Gabriel Valley. The staff is exceptional at BW Pasadena. If you truly want the best deep tissue massage ever, request James. If you want a " chain massage" there is a Massage Envy on South Lake and Hastings Ranch. I have been a fan of Burke Williams for quite some time, and only recently decided to become a member to start saving on the services since I go at least once a month. Every therapist I've encountered has been AMAZING, friendly, and good out working out the knots! Also, the service at this location in the past few months has truly been amazing. Towards the end of 2016, the front desk staff started to seem to not to care too much, but recently, from early 2017, there seemed to be a change in personnel and attitude! Love coming BW for that five-star treatment, which it truly does seem to exude now! Highly recommend booking an appointment beforehand, getting there at least a half hour early to unwind, settle into your locker, grab a water or lemonade, and relax in the lounge. The spa amenities are smaller than other locations (like Santa Monica, which has two jacuzzis), but is still great for coming alone or with friends. read more

I'm giving a 1 star review solely based on the pedicure appt I made and received. Thinking Burke Williams would be a great experience I ditched my usual pedicure location to try Burke Williams. Going in the room I couldn't believe I was at the same place I come to relax for massage. The pedicure room was something out of the late 90's . The pedicure chairs were so OLD! I couldn't believe it. My massage remote on the chair didn't work and the light that the lady was using to do my pedicure kept turning on and off . You can tell she was trying to get it to work kept playing with it. The nail polish are NOT anything great and limited compared to any nail shop. Very disappointed and I won't ever go to get a pedi again. They need to remodel BIG time!! The room atmosphere seemed sooo out dated . I'll stick to my pedicure spot I go to with Modern, lots of polishes, sugar scrub (included) , massage, and beautiful leather seats with remote massage chairs that work at better pricing . Absolutely relaxing! This was my first trip to this Spa and I will definitely return. My concierge was Charlie, she was super sweet and helpful. She made sure I had and knew everything about the spa to make sure my visit was memorable. She would remind me of appointments when I lost track of time and even got me an upgrade for my birthday! I got a massage by Anka and she was great. She was sweet and made sure the pressure was just right. Not too talkative, which is what I prefer when I'm trying to relax. I had a eucalyptus bath complete with bubbles, cucumbers, and a tray of chocolate covered fruit. I would never think to pay for a bath but it was so awesome, nothing like a bath at home. I also got a mani/pedi which was just as relaxing. Although the actual work wasn't better than my normal nail salon and it was much more expensive. Down side was the size, the spa area was small. I visited on a Friday morning/afternoon and the quiet room was full with every bed taken. I only visit spas when I travel so I cannot compare it to other local spas. read more

Two weeks ago my skin was in freak out mode. Having just moved to the area I googled local spas in the area and decided to pop by Burke Williams. Greeted by friendly faces at the desk they set me up with Zoey for a skin consultation. During our consultation we agreed to book an appointment two weeks out for a facial and peel. Zoey recommended two products for me to start a regimen at home to jump start results before my peel appointment. One of the two products I picked up on her recommendation was a gel hydrating moisturizer. I was a little hesitant as I normally like a heavy creme moisturizer. Zoey assured me if I didn't like it I could come exchange the gel for creme. After a week of using the product at home I was unsatisfied with the gel and went to exchange (literally 7 days later). I was told at the desk that I would not be paying the $4 difference for the product but instead they would refund the original product and that I would have to buy the creme now at full price. Being that I'm in the industry I thought this policy was odd and decided to just return the gel and not make any other product purchases. Upon leaving I was not given a receipt for the return but was told that it would be refunded back to the card I used. Over a weeks span I've now spoke with: Anisa-call center Chase-call center Jennifer-call center India-front desk (stellar service) And never heard back from a manager named Brandon that was supposed to call to address this issue. I went in for the facial that I had scheduled as I am in the industry and would never same day cancel on a service. The facial with Zoey with relaxing. They use their own product line throughout the facial. The 50 min facial I had included a peel. I was hoping for a more simulating sensation when the peel was on. Zoey recommended I try to 4-Layer Facial in which the peel series is more potent. Ryan (Front Desk Manager) offered 20% discount for the aggravation durning my check out. After apologizing once again he then gave me a 3 day spa pass to use their facilities and/or a 20% discount on up to three services. While it was MIGHTY kind of him to make this offer, how enticing is it to come spend more money with a company that still has not refunded my money from a week ago? Ryan also noted while I was checking out that their staff should've just exchanged my product and allowed me to pay the price difference. Instead they lost that sale as I went to another retailer that also carries Eminence and purchased it there. After members at their call center on several different occasions were of no help, I was finally given the direct line to the General Manager of the Pasadena location, Parissa. She reached out and after playing phone tag we were able to connect. I voiced my concerns and listed the areas of opportunity I felt her staff could improve on. For being a corporate spa with multiple locations it's being run more like a mom-and-pop's operation with less than mediocre service. I've now, after more than a week have received my refund. Worst Burke Williams experience. Normally enjoy all experiences at Burke Williams, but this was our first time at the Pasadena location and we couldn't of been more disappointed with the mani/pedi we scheduled. To start, a number of the facilities, such as the dry sauna, were un-working/unavailable. The chairs for the nail salon were warn out with ripped fabric and super uncomfortable. The lights were on way toooo bright, no relaxing music was on and we had to ask to recline our chairs, which we had to recline ourselves. Then the nail techs we had, rushed us, refused to use colors we asked for, never offered tea, water, etc. They were rude, rolled their eyes at us, made us feel so unimportant, didn't even give us any type of hand/arm/neck massage with our mani's, not even lotion on our hands, etc. At the end of the service, didn't even walk us back to the lounge. When paying/checking out, the manager came out and talked to me about the experience, acted like she was concerned about our pour experience, but didn't offer a discount on the rate or anything else. Simply gave me a free 25min specialty service/red stone glow for their property only to "come back and have a better experience". I scheduled this appointment for my mother, sister and I the Thursday before my wedding to treat them and have a relaxing day together before the big day. It was the exact opposite of that and I was embarrassed that that was "my treat" to them!! My mani was actually so bad that I had to go to my normal nail professional the next day to get my nails completely redone for my wedding. Which in turn, by having to redo them soooo fast, has damaged my nails sooooo much. Ugh, it's finally happened- I've officially been turned off to chain day spas, thanks to this BW location. I felt so rushed, like clockwork, in and out of the massage, no real personalized treatment. My massage therapist kept trying to sell me "add on" enhancement treatments like as if I was in some ghetto spa desperate for more money. Above all else that was off, the associate lady in the locker room was suppppper friendly, borderlining inappropriate as she tried to hold my hand, kept touching my shoulder and arm to ask if I needed anything, and literally tried to hug me at some point. Well, I don't come here very often since it is kind of pricey. The staff is always friendly and I fully enjoy the amenities. I definitely recommend arriving a little early to use the steam room or Jacuzzi. It seems to kick start the relaxation at least for me before my appointment. My last massage was with a therapist named Brooke. She was very professional and sweet. I felt like she truly listened to and addressed all of my concerns. It doesn't hurt that she's also nice to look at....haha. She was very well kept and you could tell she took pride in her appearance. Besides that, she gave the best massage HANDS DOWN since I've been going there. Needless to say, I felt like a new man afterwards and would recommend her to anyone. I originally went to Burke Williams a year ago for my birthday. I booked a massage at the Pasadena location for a 50 minute pure relaxation. I had been suffering from headaches for the past year as well as a tight neck and shoulders. I had been to massage therapists in the past and I always left in pain or feeling sore for days which should never happen. I decided to go with a male therapist because I prefer stronger hands for my tough shoulders and back. I have to say I'm so glad I did. My massage therapist was IBRAHIM. He admitted I had one of the toughest shoulders he has seen but was confident he could help me. He was professional, knowledgeable and I actually felt relief. It was a great experience compared to those I had in the past. I have been a member for the last year and now I book an 80 minute deep tissue with Ibrahim every month. My headaches have now disappeared and I feel so much better. I would never go anywhere else for a massage. His technique and experience makes him an awesome massage therapist. I gave my mom a gift certificate to this place as a Mother's Day gift. However, since the nature of the gift was to give her a "lift" when she needed it, she didn't go immediately. When she did go, about 6 months later (their gift certificate has no expiry date), they said the prices had changed and she would need to add another $50 for her package - consultation + 1 hour massage session. The gift certificate cost me around $170 when I purchased it. This seemed a bit ridiculous, because most people don't immediately use gift certificates, and even worse, if I had gifted the certificate to someone else, it would have meant that I basically only purchased 1/2 a massage session and that they had to fill in for the rest. To make it even worse, my mom didn't particularly enjoy the massage therapist - a lot of talking and making of conversation throughout the session, which apparently affected the quality and focus on the actual massage as the masseur spent too much time making conversation during the session and my mom had to reply in order to not be rude. However, when she got to the reception area again, the receptionist at the counter loudly said "how much tip would you like to leave for your masseur?" Loudly asking for tips seems like you're pinning the customer with a spotlight. I really didn't appreciate that, so we told the receptionist we'd leave it in the box (they have a box for you to leave tips after the service). Massages are usually not something we do as regularly, but next time I need to treat someone to massage, I'll definitely seek a gift certificate elsewhere. read more

I booked a Swedish deep tissue massage with hot stones. It was awesome I recommend Vanessa. She incorporated the hot stones within the massage not just placed them. Pretty amazing. I went on a Sunday morning pretty packed. They had bananas and apples as well as lemonade and water with lemon and limes. Helped with keeping hydrated. The dressing room is small not enough stations to shower and blow dry your hair. Overall it's a nice place. My friend burned her hand pretty bad with the curling iron and she asked for assistance and it took them a while to get to her. She was told that someone would come and take a report and no one ever showed up. We checked out and she mentioned it and they were like oh you have to wait. She finally talked to someone and they didn't seem to care. Everything was fine until that point. They got their money and it was see you to bad so sad. read more

I had a gift certificate from the December holidays and decided it was time to use it. I had been a regular at Burke Williams until 3 years ago. While the treatments were satisfying- massage with Ingrid and facial with Wendy - the facilities need updating and care. The couches had stained cushions and the decor needs refreshing. For a spa experience, it is more than just the services, the ambiance is important. Time to step it up, Burke Williams. Also validate. It's ludicrous to spend so much money and have to pay for parking while being pushed to buy a membership and products. read more

WORST massage I've ever gotten. Paid for a 50 min deep tissue and received a warm pad on my back for 20 minutes, then got oiled lightly rubbed in my back, then she literally just leaned on my back with her forearms for 20 minutes.. Didnt actually use her hands ONCE on my back, let alone touch any "tissue." The quality of this place has gone down hill over the last few years but after paying for what wasn't even a massage, let alone a deep tissue one, I'm pretty sure I'll never go back here again. I have had good massages over the years at this place, but the massage therapist was vague when I asked whether the latex glove wearing was the new policy once the massage started. Apparently BW does not mandate it, as it is just a personal preference. This should have been disclosed to me before my 80-minute deep tissue massage, as with latex gloves got sweaty and slippery, it did not feel that great. Sure better than a no massage, but you expect better from BW and for what you pay. Some people are allergic to latex, so this could have been a big issue, so full disclosure should be mandated. This person appeared to have been a bit paranoid about COVID as well even with all the precautionary measures at BW, and if this is the case, this person should not work indoors. Sure it is easier said than done - I had the choice to walk out after I got on the table, just like this person could work outdoors! read more

I had never been to a Burke Williams and thought I'd try it this weekend. All of the buzz is validated! I was treated so well from start to finish. I was greeted by the receptionist who called for a tour guide to show me around the facility. There were so many amenities such as quite rooms, multiple spas, steam rooms, showers, vanities with blow dryers, curling irons, hair brushes- the works! I waited in the waiting room (where they had tea, coffee, and fruit at your disposal) until my masseuse was ready to take me back and was offered lemonade ice cubes. They were a great way to cool down and beat the heat. My masseuses name was Gwen and she did a FABULOUS job (I did the Signature Treatment)! She checked to make sure the pressure was fine, she did an exfoliation scrub, and spend extra time where I asked her to. After, I used the spa and quiet room which was a nice way to extend my state of relaxation. If you're looking to make a day out of it, there are a ton of restaurants around the facility to try- I ate at Mi Piaci for the first time (one block away on E. Colorado) and LOVED it- would definitely recommend. The crepe place a few doors down from BW, Creme de la Crepe, has fantastic banana and nutella crepes! Horrible service from the Burke Williams CS Team - particularly the supervisor, Dylan. We had scheduled an appointment for today but they had us down for Monday at the Santa Monica location. Dylan called us and said we booked for Monday so they could only accommodate us at the Pasadena location in an hour. We informed him that we would be a few minutes late since we are commuting from Playa Vista. He informed us that every minute that we would be late would be docked off of our treatment time including the time it takes for us to get changed and NO exceptions. Are you kidding me?? You guys messed up and we would be the ones to have to pay for your mistake. It's unacceptable that an upscale establishment like Burke Williams wouldn't be able to make an exception for us in this instance. Terrible customer service. Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. What a freaking disaster. Let me start off this review by saying that I LOVE the Burke location in West Hollywood and have only had the best experiences with their massage therapist Kelly, who is a British woman, and who unfortunately moved to the Santa Monica location which is just too far from my house. Okay, well, first, the parking. There is none. I had an appointment during the week of December 19th and I made sure I'd get there at least a half hour before my appointment so I could go into a jacuzzi or something before my massage. I get to Pasadena and am sitting in the worst traffic of ALL TIME. I go to 3 parking structures (all full) and 2 valets (all full). There is nowhere to park and I'm moving at a snail's pace trying to figure out what to do. So, I call the spa and told them they need to call their clients when Rose Bowl insanity is going on (the traffic was due to this) and warn them about the parking situation! This is a upscale spa, I expect a little head's up from them! They said that once I find parking, they'll cover the charge. Whatever. the guy I spoke to at the front desk seemed happy to cover parking. So eventually I find parking about 8 blocks away and RUN to the spa and make my appointement just in the nick of time. I go to the spa and there at the front desk is two women and one guy. He greets me (I mentioned my name, my appointment time and my therapist on the phone when I called trying to find parking) and he DOES NOT mention the parking or anything as I'm checking in, repeating my name, time etc. I let it go. He knew who I was and blatantly ignored the issue. So I go to the ladies area to change and can I just say WHOA...this place is a DUMP. Wallpaper peeling from walls, gross little closet bathrooms you'd expect at McDonalds, and just run down in need of a refurbishment STAT. It was also CROWDED AS HELL. I thought I was at gym class in high school with this place. I was bumping up against too many naked ladies to even breathe. I understand you gotta make money Burke, but don't schedule so many appointments that your ladies area becomes a human traffic jam on the 405. That does not a spa experience make. I then go into my massage and fellow yelpers, I felt let down! I chose William because of all the reviews, but my massage was luck lustre and mediocre at best. He didn't spend ample time anywhere on my knots, and just skimmed the surface and then moved on. I felt no sense of relief. Then halfway though the massage, the fire alarm goes off and William leaves the room or like 8 minutes. I lay there, listening to the soothing sound of loud beeps. He comes back, very very very nice and apologetic. But when my massage was over, I noticed I got docked 8 minutes of a 50 minute massage. WTF. Don't dock me time! Disappointed. so then I check out and the same greeter at the desk just stares at me. I didn't want to be annoying and be like "hi, remember me, you said you'd pay my parking on the phone earlier" in front of other guests. It's not classy and it makes the spa look bad, so I hoped he'd have the decorum to bring it up quietly. But no. So I ask the woman who checked me out about the parking. I said "if I give you my credit card can you charge it $7 and give me the cash? i have no cash." I decided to do this to spare the spa the bad word of mouth in front of everyone. She then says "no, we cant do that, sorry." WHAT? Ok, guns are a-blazing now. I then say "I didn't want to do this but that guy (finger pointed) on the phone said he'd pay my parking and here he is, totally ignoring me, and looking at his feet, so not only will you NOT give me cash from my own card, but now you better give me cash point blank, from your register." He then apologized, oh I'm so sorry (spare me) and gave me $6. No, sir, it's $7. He would only give me $6. So, I take it, get to the parking structure 8 blocks away and boom, it's $7. Yup. So the nice lady wished me a merry christmas and let me go for free. Thanks, Burke. Never again. read more

This place really has it's ups and downs... I came here because it is close to my home. Pros... the unisex lounge which is the first room you embark upon entering the spa is absolutely lovely. It looks updated and is so relaxing. They have decent amenities such as jacuzzi, sauna and steam (although the steam wasn't functioning properly). The place served it's purpose. I left feeling so relaxed. And the lemongrass vanilla tea they had was heavenly. Cons... First off, all appointments are made through a centralized call center. This is really not customer focused. I told them I wanted to speak to someone directly at the spa because they know their therapists and can make recommendations. So someone did call me back at the spa; however, the spa's direct number is nowhere online. They should make this information available without having to pin needles. As to the spa, a lot it is SO dated. If I am spending nearly $200 at a spa, I would expect that they would keep on top of things like this. However, I have a feeling they know that this is the only place of it's kind in the area and it continues to remain busy. And they like to brag on their "Best Of" accolades. So I guess they figure if people still come then why should they invest in anything I guess... however, it would really serve them well in the long run if they do. The ugly dated carpet in the stairways and treatment hallways/room carpet needs to go. They have these men and women's quiet rooms which I don't understand because they're nowhere near the locker/wet areas... so why they can't just make one bigger updated unisex quiet room. I hardly spent any time in it because it was cold as hell and SO so pathetically dated. Old and ugly lounge chairs you can tell hasn't been updated since they opened... this is the same story for most of the place. The wet areas had keyed lockers. Seriously? This I did mention that to the manager. Digital lockers or keyless lockers are what's in. People don't want to have to carry a stupid key around. The jacuzzi had this lame Hawaiian mural around it, the men's "cold deluge" was not a deluge. it was just a shower that spurted cool (not cold) water. Not to mention the doors leading into it squeaked and were obviously dated. The tile floors in the shower and wet areas is from the 1980s and shower curtains, seriously??. You can tell they haven't done anything to this place since it opened, except maybe the lounge area. Again, that was the only room in the whole place that felt updated. Overall, again, the place serves it's purpose. However, it's in serious need of a major overhaul. The kind of overhaul that should require them to close for a week because I'm not just talking about minor tweaks but major gutting and updating. However, if the place continues to be busy they prob won't ever see the business justification to make these ramifications. It's very difficult to make these types of improvements while staying open. And they might fear that closing would drive regulars away... however, there's nothing else in the Pasadena area like it, so they really don't have competition except perhaps the Langham which is more expensive and not as big. Also, my gym Equinox does have massage but it's not a spa by any means. So Burke Williams, you don't have competition, so don't fret about closing for a few days. People will come back and they will come back wooed by the changes and will make them want to come more... because trust me, people notice it. So I guess I'll perhaps try the new location opening soon in Hollywood and I'll just come here again only as a last resort if I need to stay local for some reason. Until they make the changes, but I won't hold my breath. read more

This was my first time at a Burke Williams. I went to meet up with a friend who's a member and loves her some spa time! It met my expectations as a mid-range spa, although I think it's a tad on the pricey side. I knew it would not be as luxurious as the spa at the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort (now THAT'S a destination!) or the spa at The Langham Huntington in Pasadena (you need to spend an ENTIRE day here sometime). PARKING: This bites. They don't have their own lot. I parked at the structure on De Lacey and Colorado for a maximum of $6, but make sure your car isn't over the painted lines because I learned the hard way that they ticket you for that. Valet parking is available in the area for $7. CHECK-IN: The receptionist handed me my locker key and wished me well. When I hesitated he finally asked if I had been there before and then called for a concierge to give me a tour. LAY-OUT: I have mixed feelings about the space. If it's your first time here you can get lost making your way to the back, so a tour is very helpful. You walk through double doors behind the front desk and come into the waiting area. There's lots of seating, but whoever decided that a zebra print on the other side of those double doors was a good idea doesn't know the first thing about relaxation. There are two "quiet rooms" off to the side, only they weren't exactly quiet because a soundtrack of chirping birds is in the background. I felt like I was getting ready to embark on a jungle ride at some park. Anyhow, you can wait in here or the waiting area for your appointment. They'll come get you. To get to the locker room, showers, jacuzzi, steam room, mist room and sauna, you have to walk down this long hallway. This is where you might get lost... Do I go upstairs? Do I walk through this door? LOCKERS: I like that all of the lockers are full-size, so there's no need to jam your things in. The robes are thick, soft and one-size only, but short enough so I don't have to lift it up as I walk. The sandals are good too, not the disposable kind. I wish there were some benches though. BATHROOM / VANITY AREA / SHOWERS: There are only three bathroom stalls. The vanity area has lots of products for your use, including something to add shine to your hair! There are five showers and it's kind of hard to see if someone's in them so it's a good idea to toss your robe or towel over the frosted glass door. STEAM ROOM: Nice and hot! My favorite space in the whole spa. They have iced towels for you too. SAUNA: It's a dry sauna and a surprisingly small room. Not cool when you're in here with chatter boxes. MIST ROOM: The mist is cool and refreshing and there's a timer you set outside. Five minutes is plenty. JACUZZI: Only one jacuzzi and it can get super-crowded. BEVERAGES: There's citrus water (dispensers are everywhere), lemonade (only in the waiting area and it's sooo good, plus I hear this location is the only one that offers it!) and hot tea (also only in the waiting area). The dispensers are not that great. They kind of keep running and the overflow lands on the carpet. Hmmm, makes me wonder about mold. TREATMENT ROOM / SERVICE: The one I was in was fine. Kind of minimalist. I had a full deep tissue Burke Williams Massage with Mare. The massage part was great. The skin polishing part was inconsistent. Get ready..this is a long one..I meant to leave this review day of my service but I was so caught and busy that Im just doing it now... Let me start off with me tearing up in the shower after being treated SO WELL here. I turned 25 over the weekend and wanted to pamper myself at the spa. The day before I was supposed to go in, my masseuse had called out sick and couldnt go in. It was nearly impossible for me to get another massage with a female masseuse because of how last minute it was. I was bummed but accepted it. The women I spoke to was soo nice to me and patient with me while I was asking her about different options. I kinda gave up and we hung up..I then thought about the baths they have... I had never had a bath here so I decided to give one a whirl since I knew I wanted to go enjoy the amenities anyways. I called the lady back I asked her if there was time, indeed there was! Not only that but she told me the service would be complimentary..so that was pretty cool! When I arrived, I felt like I was royalty, its like everybody knew me! Not because I made a stink about my massage getting canceled, because I didnt at all. I was quiet understanding because I too had to miss work from being sick from this bug going around too...but because they were all up to date on what had happened & that it was my birthday. When I was shown to my locker, the manager came up to me & introduced herself. She told me she was going to make my stay very worth it and try to do whatever she could to make sure my bday there was the best. My bath was AMAZIN! One of the ladies cut up fresh fruit for me and drizzled some kind of agave on top, im assuming. Whatever it was, it was delicious! During my bath another lady who seemed like a coordinator told me she was going to try to fit me in somewhere and she would keep me up to date. After my bath she found me again and told me there might be a cancelation and they'd might be able to get me in. After about 15 minutes she came back and said they did not cancel after all BUT they would like to offer me a complimentary 50min facial, I was like "Oh wow! Sure!" I was in disbelief.. The facial was AMAZING, the facialist also offered a complimentary add on service, by that time I was thinking in my head this cant be real. I really want to see her again, she did great!! I will update this review when I find out her name, I had so many people introduce themselves to me that I cant even remember..(sorry!) After my facial, the coordinator brought me into the waiting room and came back with a tray of more sliced fresh fruit and a cupcake for my birthday. I couldnt believe it! So by the time I hopped in the shower, I was so overwhelmed with how well I was treated, I literally teared up. They made my birthday SO absolutely special, I was so greatful. I went in with the expection of a bath & to just enjoy some of the amenties and go on my way but boy was I caught off guard at how well they showered me with care. I normally go to the West Hollywood location but this evening, I wanted something close. What a pleasant surprise and treat the Pasadena location turned out to be: #1 I was looking for a massage therapy that yelp viewers had given good reviews on. None of them were available for an 8pm apt. #2 So I took a chance and booked my apt with Brian. #3 Parking- I scored a metered spot right on Green and Mills Alley for 30 cents. If I wanted 2-3 hours I wld park at the $5 lot on Green street. #4 Christina took me to the back and did an excellent job showing me all the amenities and services. She was the beginning of an excellent experience. #5 Brian is amazing. He upgraded my swedish massage to a shiatsu combo. I'm glad he suggested it because I needed it! He was exactly what I was looking for: confident, professional, warm and very good at working out the kinks. I will definitely be returning to see him. I really enjoyed the set up of this location. The showers have marble pedestal, which makes shaving easy. The sauna was just hot enough and facilities were clean with a friendly staff. If you need to be pampered, the Pasadena Burke Williams makes a nice destination spa. read more

I like going to Burke Williams for facial. Yes it's overpriced to pay $105 plus tips for 50 minutes Spa Style H2V Facial but it's so relaxing. It was only $85 but now it's $105 so that's the one thing I hate about this place. I used to go to Asian spa but now I switch to Burke because of the amenities. You get your own locker complete with robe and slippers. I can use the jacuzzi before my facial and go to the quiet room when I want to relax. I shower after my facial and do my makeup and hair there. They have ice cold towel, razor, shower cap, facewash, shampoo, conditioner, face lotion, body lotion and all kind of hair products for you to use. You can snack on fruits like apple and banana if you are hungry. I've been going there for years but I found out few years ago they lost my record. It's like I never existed =( It's ok..I still love you Burke Williams because the service is always great. They also sell great skin care products there. read more

I've been here a bunch of times and never wrote a review because I wasn't compelled either way. It was generally a reliable spot for decent service for me but this time I will not be returning. First off, you definitely need to make a reservation and it was frustrating that the online system requires a credit card in order to hold it but calling in doesn't. They have a 4 hour cancellation rule which is not bad compared to some places I know. Second, for $50 the pedicure isn't as exceptional as it should be. I've had pedicures that are half as expensive and much better. The worst part is the staff members. They have been consistently rude to me since I started going there, even after I was going relatively often. Last week, I went to get my pedicure. I was meeting my mom who had already gone in. Because I was in a rush, I forgot my wallet so didn't have an ID on me. They refused to let me go in until I spoke to the manager. And I am perfectly capable of understanding corporate policy. However, I was spoke to in a very condescending manner than made me feel very unwelcome even though they were able to pull up my visit history on the computer. I was very disappointed. Then on the way out as my mom was paying, the woman at the cashier tried to sell her 5 different products as we are standing there ready to pay. It was very uncomfortable and we felt it was very forced on us. Maybe if they had offered the opportunity to purchase these items used at the end of the pedicure it wouldn't have seemed so distasteful. In the waiting area, a staff member was extremely rude to my mom while she was awaiting someone to call her for her appointment which I learned after we had left. All and all it was not a relaxing and very disappointing experience. We will not be returning in the near future. Horrible customer service and a very corporate feel. I hate when spas lose their personal touch and this has certainly happened here - their super long and annoying recording for when you call is absurd. Parking is okay in old town - 90 minutes free. Enough for a pedicure and not too far of a walk but you'll have to pay if you get longer treatments. Worth it if you have a decent experience but we will not be returning here. read more

I have been going here for over ten years and the service has been getting worse and worse and worse.I admit I hadn't gone to this location in about 4 years but I went last month for a relaxing day. The guy at the front desk tossed the key to me, and didn't even look up. When I got to the locker, it had a used robe in it and no slippers. There was NO spa attendant- I had to walk out to the front where he tossed another key at me and continued chatting with the other employees-couldn't one of them walked back with me? There was no robe and no shoes, still no spa attendant. I walked back out and asked for yet another key. Dirty wet robe and no shoes, so I just opened a bunch of them until I found clean stuff. As well there was a group of gals having a party in the hottub, yelling racial slurs at me-I am white-Irish-and being really loud. I wanted to relax, I couldn't. I walked back out and asked for a manager-no one came. I went to the area where both men and women wait-so not comfortable when you are in nothing but a robe. The manager came over after about 10 minutes, she didn't seem to care about anything except touching me and talking down to me. I was getting a $200 service and she didn't even care. She also kept arguing with me that there was a spa attendant back there, but she refused to go. I finally walked out and rebooked in Sherman Oaks. I called corporate on the following day and spoke with Karen Weaver who couldn't have been more apologetic and she even offered me gift certificates for a signature service instead of a refund, she insisted. I didn't want anything free, I just wanted it fixed. I thought it was solved. A week went by and I got a $35 card in the mail, NOT WHAT SHE OFFERED. I called her twice and left messages, with no return call. I don't really care about getting a free service, but it is pretty piss poor to offer something and then not deliver. Goes to show why their service is so bad. They used to be great, now I avoid unless desperate. read more

This is the 5th Burke Williams I have visited and is by far subpar!! I am a member and visit the Torrance location monthly. Where to begin? I enter and am guided though the tiny lounge, through a long narrow hallway to the woman's spa. It too is tiny but has everything you would expect from Burke. The layout is akward, but is sufficient. I go the my locker change into my robe to wait for my first service in the lounge, only to find no seats available.... so I stand for 5 minutes while waiting for a massage. GET RUSSELL! My massage was fantastic. I finish and go to the lounge to await my next. Again, I find myself standing waiting. I head back down the long, hallway to the end and enter the wet room. This where it gets worse. I get on the table and await the technician. Struggling to get comfortable, I ask the technician the best way to use the pillow. She says there is no good way until they get a new table. I sit and endure the service as my neck in back ache in the akward laying position. All I can think about is how this treatment is ruining my massage from Russell. The wet room is at the fat end of the corridor, right next to what appears to be the laundry room or kitchen. The entire treatment I kept hearing the large door to that back room open and close. It then gets worse. I try to go to the whirlpool only to find it lukewarm. Then off to the steam room only 5 find dirty towels and used cucumber slices everywhere. In frustration, I head to the showers to find 4 of the 5 filthy. I will never be back to Burke Williams Pasadena. read more

Get to your appointment early so you have time to shower and drink some of the fruity water and tea. If you book a service then you have full access to the jacuzzi and steam room, so make sure you get there early or have a little time afterwards so you can truly indulge. I come here fairly often for massages- I do the Pure Relaxation or The Burke Williams Signature massage. A little expensive but worth it for the quality of the facility and masseuses. Word of caution- the aromatherapy lotion that they offer you right before your massage is $20 as an add on- so don't buy it!! I've never had a bad massage here. I always leave feeling like sleek, sexy and relaxed human. The lady at the front when I checked in and when I left was rude though. It' snot the first time the staff at the front desk has been a little snarky. Overall, the rest of the staff is amazing so that makes up for it in my book. The place is covered in fresh flower arrangements and fountains- so it's a very relaxing atmosphere. I also like their merchandize, but it's also a little expensive. read more

I love Burke Williams, though after my experience yesterday, not anymore, which is unfortunate as I was a loyal customer... I went to pasadena for the first time. This is not like a typical burke. It is smaller in every way. The mens spa is not very good as it is cramped and packed into a small space, awkwardly laid out. I was emailed a special through the email list. $89 per treatment. I work nearly everyday and the one day I had off I decided to spend at Burke and treat myself to TWO spa treatments. Why not with this special... I get to my first treatment, the massage. My masseuse, Ernesto, was very nice. About 2 minutes into the massage, a loud jack hammer sound begins. It is very loud. It is literally vibrating the entire room, cabinets, equipment. It goes on, not kidding, for 45 of the 50 minutes I am in the session. Not quite the 'oasis' i was planning on, would you? Ernesto kept apologizing and eventually left to see if there was anything he could do. He couldn't of course, so he decides to turn the music up to a somewhat obnoxious level in an attempt to drown the noise. It stressed me out only further. I tried to concentrate on something else, but it was too difficult. Between my two treatments I saw a young male manager who apologized again for the noise. "we will take care of you" he said. I go into the facial treatment. Again, great therapist. Noise not so bad in this particular room. A+ treatment in there. When I go to the reception desk after not enjoying the spa (because it is not a comfortable space), there is a dark haired thinner woman at the front. She asks how everything was. I tell her that treatment 2 was great, treatment 1... not so good. She, almost condescendingly, offers me the discounted rate I am already suppose to get on not one, but BOTH treatments. Um, ok, I am already suppose to be receiving this discount.. but way to try to manipulate the situation in hopes that I think I am getting some sort of break. Then she says "here is a gift card so that you can come back next time and get the same treatment for this same discounted rate!" Really? Really? You just gave me a gift card for 16 dollars? I just spent 200 on a jackhammer massage and you are giving me a 16 dollar gift card? I immediately was severely annoyed with her. It turned me off to the entire business forever. After what they charge, what I spend and what had happened I think NOT CHARGING ME for the negative experience in my massage could have been an appropriate way to handle it. But instead, I paid 110 bucks to come out of a massage more tense than when I entered. Thanks Burke. To top it off, I call to leave a voice mail at their customer service line, to which they promise they will 'return your call immediately'. They didn't. Done with Burke. read more

An amazing experience! Had a little baby shower here with girlfriends. The manager JT went above and beyond to make it an awesome day for all of us. She set up a private room for us to give gifts and enjoy some special treats. On the way out we were even commenting on how much we loved the tea they serve and they gave us each a sample! My massage by Connie was one of the best I've had in my life. Can't wait to come back! read more

I've been coming here since the 6th month of my pregnancy (I'm currently 38 weeks) and have been here at least once or twice a month since then. I come for the pregnancy massage and the complimentary spa bath (since you're advise not use the steam/sauna room or jacuzzi because the high temperature is harmful to the baby, they provide a free spa bath). I've had Kayle and Ro as my masseuse and they've both done a fantastic job at rubbing out all my pregnancy aches (I've had lot of upper back, lower back and leg pain). I took advantage of their gift card special during the month of September where they gave you free $50 when buying a $250 gift card. As for the spa baths, there are 3 treatments you can choose from: bubble bath, milk soak and a scented soak. I loved them all, just depends on what you're in the mood for. The locker room attendants did a fantastic job of taking care of me. They cut up fruit for me to enjoy during my bath and gave me iced cucumbers for my eyes. Some people like to take baths before their massage but I like to take them after. Some of the attendants let you sit in the baths a little longer if you don't have an appointment right after. Just make sure the water is at the right temperature for you and the baby before getting in, the attendants sometimes run the water a little hotter than should be. I also enjoy using their cool misting room especially during my 6-7 month of pregnancy when I was getting crazy hot flashes! The only con about all this is the price. I only went as many times as I did because of the gift card deal and my body was screaming for it. It is so nice to be waited on hands and feet when everything hurts and aches! For my next pregnancy, I plan to work extra before getting pregnant and signing up for their membership which provides a discount for their services. The closest parking structure is on Green St. Try to go during the week day if possible, I've always found it more relaxing with less people. read more

OMG!!! Made a waxing appointment, yup, bikini, turned into a nightmare. I asked for a very basic brazilian, assumed they were a professional spa with real professional aestheticians.. NO!!!! She had no idea what she was doing, started globbing tons of wax on then yanking and yanking and she didn't know what to do. I had to stop her and say you don't know what you're doing do you? Please go get someone else! The second aesthetician came in, took one look and said Oh my god. She spent a good 30 minutes up in my business cutting the wax out with scissors. I was so raw form the first lady trying to rip it out, they had to just stop. I am home and sore with a HALF A BALD business. UNBELIEVABLE. I will never ever ever go back and am demanding they pay for me to get fixed at a real, professional salon. Shocking. horrible, stupid place. read more
