I visited this restaurant for my coworker's birthday dinner, and despite what my friend had told me about the portions being small, I found them to be rather substantial. You can order more food if you want to if you're still hungry. Although I preferred the table sitting, the majority of guests choose to relax in a bar-style setting. I walked in today and everything was different. They decided to turn It into "Chipotle" for sushi... I wasn't the only customer, now everything, I mean everything is "Self Service" no more table service, and it's basically ordering fast food. The woman came over and asked if she could mix everything together, we said sure thing. It was delicious. Then we ordered their $11.95 lunch, which was amazing! You get a small salad, miso soup, crab stick sushi roll and a specialty roll. This list of specialty rolls was pretty extensive. Most sushi restaurants would charge $11.95 (and some) for just the specialty roll! In any case, my roll was great and I tried my cousins, his was great too. We tried to like this place . . . we came for a second time and after our meal, we would have been better off buying sushi at Central Market. You enter into a somewhat dark, old restaurant. The waitstaff were mostly contributory to this 2 stars - we absolutely felt rushed during our meal. The menu is overwhelming and each roll seemed to have cream cheese in it, cheap filler. The rolls are average, nothing to write home about. Although the fish weren't bad, the meal in itself lacked any appeal. It felt like eating just raw fish.... instead of a delicacy. The rolls weren't rolled tight, sort of fell apart when you picked it up with chopsticks. Sushi rice texture was good, not overdone. If this place was your best experience, you best venture outside of the supermarket sushi. Based on these 2 dining attempts, we would not return. My wife is a lover of sushi, while I was having surgery on the south east corner of Preston and Frankford she spotted this place. Since I was gonna be a while she went and enjoyed a wonderful lunch and told me about it after my procedure was wrapped up. It was such an experience she made me go back with her less than a week later! I had to roll in on a scooter with my leg all wrapped up but it was worth it! I absolutely love this place! My wife says their spicy tuna is the best shes ever had and that's saying something since she has eaten at, what seems like, every place in the Dallas area. The servers are friendly, attentive and the food is fantastic. We live in Allen so when we go we tend to overeat. We will end up getting like 5-6 rolls and have a ton of leftovers. We have been probably 6 times in the last year together but my wife and her mom go about once a month now! We love the place and look forward to coming back again soon! read more

So...my family is a regular. Enough to know the owner, and he comes by our table to chat every time. Everyone is super friendly, and always greet with grins. Ambience ***** Music makes for a casual chat, usually some soft alternative. Just the right volume to sit around the table with. They changed up the layout but kept it modern and tasteful. Kind of small place, so not for a giant group of 8+. Usually I wouldn't recommend sushi for a group that big anyways. Food quality and variety ***** Amazing. Best. And consistent. I wasn't quite into raw fish at first. The texture felt like I was eating a tongue. THIS PLACE IS AMAZING FOR SUSHI FOR EVERYONE: RAW FISH OR COOKED/BAKED FISH. It has an amazing variety for those of you who aren't into it. It also offers some rolls that have raw fish that appealed to me before I really ate the raw-fish-on-top type rolls. Will admit, it's pricey, but that's pretty standard for sushi. For some rolls, you can order half a roll if you don't want as many pieces (table for two or something). Nice presentation. Doesn't ever look "thrown together." Details and specifics (I'll add more when I have time) Salad-good, simple. Dressing is unique, but I like to get it on the side. I have eaten at hundreds of sushi restaraunts throughout California and decided to give this highly rated restaurant that was nearby my new apartment a try during dinner hours. First impression: the door was very difficult to find as there is no way to distinguish between the door and the rest of the walls. I ordered a rainbow roll, crunch roll, and a dragon roll to test out their ability to make a completely raw roll, a fully cooked roll, and a hybrid roll. All but the crunch roll (which is deep fried) was poorly rolled as the fish was falling off. I couldn't even dip my sushi properly on the soy sauce plate because it was so poorly formed. The rice tasted old and hard like it had been sitting around all day. The crunch roll was very thin, and stacked in a way that made it seem like it was actually more. The sauce was tasted more like spicy BBQ sauce, but I can't blame them as they are trying to cater to the local population. I had enough when I received my dragon roll (eel and avocado roll with imitation crab meat and cucumber inside). The chef made the roll and then proceeded to place the eel in saran wrap and tossed it in the MICROWAVE OVEN to heat up. After hearing the bing from the oven, he took out the eel, placed it on the roll, quickly compressed all the contents, and began slicing it. As he was slicing it, the eel was so hot it was steaming and sticking to his blade. He served the roll with some pieces missing toppings which instead were left on the plate (he gave up). He served the dragon roll which was falling apart, burning hot eel placed on some of the pieces, and completely cold in the middle. That is NOT how it should taste let alone be presented. The sushi chefs looked like they hated their lives making sushi in the restaurant. Finally, they also were touching their phones in between making sushi. The surface of a phone is dirtier than a toilet. Absolutely DISGUSTING! According to the locals, this is a great sushi restaurant. This was a terrible experience and for a dollar more a roll, you can enjoy higher quality sushi in Addison. I have never felt more disappointed and disrespected than in this restaurant. Sushi chefs take pride in their product. I didn't see any of it here. Being from Califonia, I guess you can say I'm spoiled because we have fresh fish. One thing is certain - I'm gonna have to be cautious now about trusting local reviews of sushi restaurants in the area. read more

I used to come here for lunch frequently when I worked nearby, and have gone at dinner a couple times though I live pretty far now and probably wouldn't make the over-an-hour trek at this point. C-rolls is non-pretentious, casual but has some great rolls. The Preston roll is in my bucket list of rolls - you know the bucket list, where you take the one favorite roll from all your favorite places and say if there was a restaurant that made ALL those rolls, you'd be in sushi heaven - that list. They have several other good ones but the Preston roll is the one that I would consider driving for on occasion. I don't feel out of place bringing the kids here as I would some sushi places, which is a plus when I have the kids with me and a minus for those seeking a child-free dining experience (although I've never seen the place packed with kids, to be fair). I don't remember the prices but I remember thinking they were reasonable compared to the other places I would go for sushi at that time (the now defunct Fuse and also Steel, which are definitely pricier). It might be comparable in price to other similar establishments in the North Dallas area though - I wasn't happy enough with any of the other North Dallas sushi places I dined in to care or remember. read more

This sucks cause I actually like this place. I have gotten many different rolls and never have an issue. I brought my boyfriend for the first time and we already knew what we wanted to order once sat and the waitress was nice. But the woman owner comes around after a couple mins and is mad about me asking for my roll to be baked. I just don't like raw sushi so I said she can sear it if that easier cause over the decade of eating sushi I have gotten okay with it that way. But told me "no we don't do substitutions and that roll is already cheap". I said "oh no I like everything on the roll". But then said "no baking it is a substitution." "So you like it dry?" She told me all of that multiple times like she wanted to change what I got.. It was weird having to explain why I like what I like since I have NEVER had to do this at any sushi restaurant. Except the main part, the actual sushi, was not my most favorite part. Ok..real talk no the sushi was not good. The baked tuna on top of the Volcano roll was extremely dry, it honestly tasted as if it was microwaved. We ordered their Tuna tower, thank goodness it wasn't terrible like there others, but it was actually tasty. I forgot the other roll we ordered, but i do remember not being a big fan. What I personally look for in my sushi is:freshness,flavor, good texture. BUT sadly this location could not meet my expectations. Tried this sushi place this evening and was pleased with the King Tiger Roll and the Las Vegas roll. I didn't have any apps or raw fish. They have a good enough variety on their menu without having so much that it's hard to choose. I took it to go, but place is small and quiet. (I was there on a Thursday evening around 6:30.) Of all the things we ordered, I only really liked one item, the Sunset roll. It was fresh and delicious. Edamame was on par with what it usually is at sushi restaurants, and so was the miso soup. My biggest problem was with everything that was fried. I'm not a huge fan of fried sushi, but my fiance is. We ordered a couple of fried rolls, and the taste of old oil was so strong, it pretty much permeated the taste of everything else. That was very off putting, and I just couldn't get over it. The waiter could do a slightly better job spacing things out. I only had time to eat a fourth of my edamame before he brought out our first two items. The server was very nice, and the sushi chef came to check on us once, so that was cool. Still, I think I'll try a different place next time. read more
