We had an awesome experience from start to finish with CA LuceTermite. Our termite inspector, Chris, did a great job to thoroughly inspect our house including the attic. He explained to us where the damage was, and how to address the termites and what would be needed to fix it. A few days before the fumigation, Logan the technician came by to instruct us what household items needed to be double bagged in special Nylofume bags. He also installed the complimentary security camera the morning before fumigation. RA and Joe did an excellent job repairing the exterior parts of the house due to termite damage. They showed up on time, were professionally competent in explaining the repairs, and took their time with the job. The fumigation crew led by Manuel was amazing as well. They sealed carefully the house with heavy tarps for 2.5 days and only caused 2-3 broken tiles that were immediately replaced as part of our contract agreement. However the reason they have won my business forever is that I came into a VERY sticky situation trying to sell my home, the buyers demanded a bunch of work and were very difficult and Chris (the owner) stood behind his product and warranty 100% and offered to come in on a Saturday and do repairs / additional work they were demanding (none of which were a result of his original work). Chris came to do the inspection and within a day or two provided an in depth estimate and description of the work to be done. Inspections and estimates from 3 other companies were done. I chose this company based on the recommendation of a friend and the manner in which the scheduling, inspection and report was given. From the very beginning, totally professional. This company is one that is totally customer focused, from scheduling the inspection to getting the work done. This past week I had the A-team from this company do termite repair work. They arrived at the time they were expected and immediately set up to get to work. They were personable and professional. Upon arrival, Ari introduced me to the team: Joe, Logan and Santino. This group of guys were most respectful of my property and importantly were mindful of my art studio in the garage and kept the doors closed. There was no chatter...totally focused on the job and the team worked so well together. It was refreshing to see. When they broke for lunch, and at the end of day one things were picked up. I called CA Luce on a recommendation of a neighbor. Chris Luce showed up for my inspection and I told him the dreadful story - that my "regular" bug guy had been here - offered free termite inspection and was in my attic no more than 4 minutes (no lie) on one of the hottest days of the year and proclaimed I had a swarm of termites, there were wings and bodies and they needed to tent my house - $3800 + insurance for guys climbing on roof - likely to damage solar and roof tiles. Needless to say I lost sleep for days waiting for second opinion. In comes Chris Luce. Been in the business 28 years and knows a thing or two about termites. In my attic a long time -I hear him pulling up insulation and putting it back down. I hear him go from end to end in my attic. He comes down and says - ma'am you do NOT have termites. I looked and looked and there's nothing to be found. Of course I'm elated although nervous - I'd scheduled a 3rd opinion and wondered who I should trust and whether the third inspection would be a sheister or not... I did end up cancelling 3rd opinion as I decided Chris Luce had no incentive to tell me I didn't have termites - except honesty. After conversation with Chris - about how to prevent termites - keep your house trim painted - keep your house attic vents covered (tight screens) and watch for signs of termites... and speaking with husband - we decided to hire CA Luce to improve our screens - on attic vent openings to prevent termites from flying in - and also will keep out bees and rodents... I was super happy to pay for that since he did such a thorough inspection and relieved me of my scare. In comes Chris, another team member, to install my screens a week or so later. He too is honest and professional. Installs my screens and I say - please look and confirm no termites ?! He does - he agrees - no termites up there. So - long story long - if you need an honest inspection or support with your termites do call CA Luce. I used CA Luce to tent my house for termites. Price was good. EVERYBODY from Chris and Rick in the field to their office staff were very friendly, professional, and responsive. The fumigation went very well with no surprises. I got multiple quotes including one from a fumigation direct company. That company was cheaper but not by much, and they were super unprofessional when they came to my house for the quote. CA Luce used Your Way fumigation to do the tenting. I was kind of concerned because Your Way has horrible Yelp reviews. But they did a good job on my house. Nothing broken. Nothing stolen. Overall, I'm confident I got a good product for a fair price, so I recommend CA Luce. read more

I hate writing negative reviews, but I wanted to warn others purchasing a home that has been inspected by C.A.Luce. We purchased our home in Oceanside less than two years ago. The inspection was performed by C.A.Luce on behalf of the seller's realtor, Jim Bottrell with Ardent Real Estate. The inspection came back clear with no issues whatsoever. A couple months ago, less than two years since we moved in, we began to notice potential signs of termites. We called our exterminator who came out, did a complete inspection, and verified that we have them in several spots around the house and they've been there several years, at least 4-5. I wasn't happy about that so I called another company for a second opinion. The second company found even more spots and agreed they've been there at least 3-4 years, maybe longer I'd like to give C.A.Luce the benefit of the doubt, but best case scenario they were incompetent; worst case they just cleared our house to please the realtor and keep the recurring business they no doubt get from them. Now I'm out hundreds, if not thousands of dollars, for both extermination and repairs. If you are buying a home that has been inspected by C.A.Luce, I highly encourage you to get an independent second opinion from an exterminator YOU choose. Don't solely rely on one chosen by the seller's realtor. Lesson learned the hard way! :( read more

Beware that Chris is horrendously unprofessional if things do not go his way ... I was scheduled to use Chris to tent my house but unfortunately the wind kicked up and we were forced to delay. My wife was due for major back surgery so we were scrambling to get it done beforehand and the only day that would work was one that Chris could not accommodate, so we ended up switching companies to one that could. I proactively contacted his office manager, Michelle, to coordinate returning the lock box and bags that he had provided to us but instead received an invoice charging me for them. I responded saying that I had no intention of keeping them and offered again to coordinate their return, and received this response from Chris: "hi jason i could have tented you house another day why didnt i get that opportunity to tent your house it wasnt my fault it was to windy that saturday but the part a dont understand is why you fell you need to lie to me................ im a big boy i can take it.........so for you to tell me that carol is in surgery i dont really care so take the bags and put them over your head and secure tightly and put the lock box were the sun dont shine you have wasted all the time and money i allow so no need to respond probaly be just another lie .............youve been spamed so no need to try to contact us again" I was in the hospital with my wife when I received this so I took a picture of her in the recovery room with the pre- and post-operative x-rays and another close up of the post-operative shot clearly showing the date and once she was comfortable enough for me to leave I personally returned the lock box and bags to Michelle. I explained the situation to her, read her the above email and showed her the pictures. She was apologetic but hardly shocked and indicated that "Chris overreacts sometimes". I can understand Chris being frustrated because we switched companies but his response is clearly indicative of the type of person that you will be doing business with if you choose to use his company. My community had all 65 residences in 18 buildings fumigated by C.A. Luce over a 3 month period. C.A. Luce did almost everything. They even help us save money by rebagging for residents that did not do it right. They were on-point, attentive, knowledgable, professional, and personal. It cost less than the other fumigators and I am convinced the service was just as good and probably better than any other supplier. We spoke to a number of community managers and leaders before we went with Chris and his staff, and I will tell you we got a great job done for the best price. Fumigating is not an easy task, it is not comfortable, it is not fun, so try doing it for a community with over 200 residents. We got it done and because of CA Luce it was a very tolerable process. Last year we had CA Luce help us stain wood patio fencing materials to prepare for building some new patio fences. Their performance slow, they failed to take proper instuction and overall it was disappointing. We have had them do standard wood repairs to patch and paint eves and building trim. They were quite good at that type of work. I would recommend them for basic patch and paint repairs from termite damage, and they were good at termite inspections, treatments and fumigation. My home needed fumigation for drywood termites and I called some companies for estimates. One company salesman said I had drywood termites and additionally subterranean termites. They wanted to treat for them by drilling holes in my concrete slab and treating the perimeter of the building for an additional thousand dollars. The other termite companies found no evidence of subterranean termites. I called a large well known pest control company and ended up playing the press this number for this and press this number for this...very frustrating. Their quote was a lot higher...probably lots more overhead. CA Luce Termite Control was the one I finally chose to perform the work. They are a small company that specializes in termite control. It was nice to deal directly with the owner Chris and his team. They were all great! The quote was reasonable and honest. I am very happy with my decision to use them. I opted for the optional camera system and could view my home using my cell phone and computer from my hotel. I called Corky's pest control company for a termite Inspection, they told me it would be $150 for the inspection. I called CA Luce and asked them what they charge for an inspection, Michelle said it was free. I scheduled an appointment for the following week. Chris pulled up at exactly 2:30pm as scheduled, and proceeded to inspect my property. He crawled under my trailer and did a full inspection. He crawled out and said no termites! Chris was very nice and knowledgable about what to look for in the future. He let me know he would send my inspection in a couple of days.
