I've been suckered with extra fees before because the final location was "too far" from the loading dock, etc. Cons: communication. This could have been a whole lot better. Arrival at my destination, not such a great experience and this is where the communication faltered. I paid to have the street parking reserved for both pick up and drop off. It was just going to be easier as parking in both neighborhoods would have been a nightmare and they would have ended up blocking the streets. I also paid them extra to arrive 2 days behind me (them storing my items). They didn't leave the starting point on time, so they messaged me that they were going to be a day late. Not good after I paid over $150 to reserve street parking. They understood this and made an effort to get to my destination on time and almost made it. Sadly they didn't arrive until after 6pm, which was the cut off for reserving parking. Because of this the blocked the street and briefly the garage of the neighboring building. So would I recommend them? Yes. But I would also recommend setting very clear expectations.

Complete Failure. Paid for experience, received inadequate labor…read more I hired All Service Movers expecting a professional crew capable of handling a move involving stairs. At $210 per hour for a three-person crew, they were the most expensive company I considered. I chose them mainly because I expected the quality to match the price. I got burned on this one. When scheduling the move, I explained it involved one flight of stairs at the pickup location and two flights of stairs at the destination. The heaviest items were standard household furniture including dressers, a sofa bed, tables, and similar items. There were no safes, pianos, appliances, or other unusually heavy items. When discussing how many movers would be needed, I was told two would probably be enough. I chose to pay for a three-person crew mainly because of the stairs, expecting they would handle it better. From the beginning, it was obvious the crew struggled navigating the stairs, repeatedly stopping to reposition furniture and moving at a pace that unnecessarily extended the job. I even found myself carrying heavy boxes over my shoulders up the stairs, and also taking items to the garage myself while paying for a three-person moving crew. I did this not only because I couldn't bear to watch the crew struggle, but also because the clock was ticking and every unnecessary delay was costing me more money. The move lasted 8 3/4 hours, went into overtime, and I was charged for the additional time. Even after that, the move was not completed. Furniture still needed to be placed and assembled. I chose to end the job once I witnessed the dolly scraping on my newly installed flooring. That's when I flipped. Told them it's time to go. It didn't dawn on me that they'd been using an unprotected dolly throughout the move. Once they left, I started unpacking and inspecting my stuff further. I discovered additional damage to my freshly painted walls, new and existing furniture, stair trim, and a scratch on my newly installed sliding door. To put this into perspective, Home Depot later delivered multiple large appliances up the exact same stairs using only two delivery personnel. They handled the stairs confidently without repeated stops or hesitation. I have also used another moving company in the past, and the difference in capability was obvious. The effort the movers put in is not in question. They worked hard. The issue was the lack of experience, strength, proper equipment, and overall capability needed to handle this type of move. In my opinion, All Service Movers failed to assign a crew capable of handling this type of stair move. Their lack of efficiency cost me additional overtime charges, resulted in unnecessary damage to my home and belongings, and left the move unfinished. To make matters worse, after documenting the damage with photographs and submitting a claim, the company offered only $100 toward an estimated $400 in damages. And the $400 estimate was generous. I cannot recommend All Service Movers based on my experience. A professional moving company should assign a crew capable of performing the job they were hired to do without causing unnecessary damage, unnecessary overtime charges, and an incomplete move. Still unpacking. Hope there's no additional damage.

Took my deposit and nothing. When thinking about though the overall price was reasonable the breakdown was wrong. Deposit was three times what I had previously paid on deposit but the driver portion was the same.

Unbelievable customer service unless you experience it first hand …read more Parking my truck and trailer across the street I walked to ask for help in which I could recycle a trailer load of mixed metals. To my surprise a very pleasant lady met me with a charming smile and asked if I needed help . I shared what I had to recycle and she said , I'll get someone to help you . Less than a minute of waiting , a young lad explained what he was going to do so that I could pull my trailer in . After doing so guided me in to unload . Well mannered young man who communicated clearly started to explain the variety of recycling I had which seemed very confusing to me . I was overwhelmed with sorting and mentioned it to the young man . I'm 60 and not in the best condition recovering from an accident that happened in 2020 . He politely said , he would help and sort it , and then inside they will sort and weigh it . He mentioned that he would lift the heavy items so not to put a strain on myself . I didn't catch his name but he is 20 years old & operates the forklift or fills in anywhere they need him . He also allowed me to utilize the trash can for un -recyclable item ( trash) Inside they weighed my recycling and separated it accordingly to give me the best price or it definitely seemed that way . He offered me water as this took close to a hour to unload . The cashier was also very polite and friendly explaining to me the process. I learnt the First Lady was the owner . I really felt honored having such a good experience as everyone worked as a team . As the Boss lady moved her car , I signaled her to back up , she was clear to do so . As she passed , I waved and gestured to say thank you with a wave . The remaining steps went smoothly . I received a ticket with weight and value . Handed it to the cashier with my ID . She recorded the ticket and I signed and received money in exchange for recyclable metal. It was a 5 star experience . Customer service made a difference in my choice to recycle . This is the place where Id recommend to recycle ~ I wish the company the best of business and to be free from accidents. To the lady owner and her workers Thank You . UPDATE: CNYX delivered my items to me in CT at my final destination on 12.13.17. The team arrived on time and were extremely cordial. They walked me through the delivery process and paperwork before bringing items up to my apartment. All items were accounted for and nothing was broken (I did take care to watch their packing videos before assembling my boxes). The system they used when delivering items was that I received a checklist and would mark off each numbered box as It entered my apartment. This made me feel confident that all my boxes were accounted for because I was the one acknowledging their arrival! Overall, an end-to-end great experience with no unfortunate surprises or unexpected costs. Thanks again for making my cross country move seamless!! *********** This is a review of the first part of my move with CA NY Express - they picked up my stuff in LA and in 2 weeks will deliver it to me in CT. Therefore, this review is for the LA portion/crew. **Bottom line for those short on time to read reviews - this company has been excellent so far. Could not recommend more highly. Efficient, professional, kind, punctual, attentive - everything you could hope for when you are in the throes of moving cross country. More detail: This was for a 2 br apartment that contained typical furniture and about 40 boxes (which I packed myself - but they can help you pack anything from a few mirrors/fragile items/pictures to the entire apartment, if that's what you need or want). There was another location where I needed an additional sofa picked up. Our onsite estimator, David, came to the apartment a few weeks prior to the move to take inventory of exactly what needed to be shipped (literally item by item) to determine an accurate cost. Between this visit and the move itself, David and I exchanged over 40 emails during which I asked questions and updated him with changes to our inventory. He was always courteous and responsive in a timely manner. Today was our move, and it could not have gone more seamlessly. The team of 3 experienced movers called 30 minutes prior to their arrival and were at my apartment by the beginning of the 2-hour predicted window. They quickly set out to pack up my apartment; one man in charge of wrapping furniture, one bringing things up and down the stairs on a dolly, and one breaking down furniture to be packed (ie, beds, tables with legs, etc). Every item received a sticker that had my name on it and the moving reference number, so I feel confident that my belongings will be well-managed. The team worked efficiently and with care; nothing dropped or handled hastily. Once my place was packed up, the team headed to the second location to get the couch. Within ten minutes, they had it wrapped and loaded onto the truck. While this was happening, one of the movers walked me through the paperwork, step by step, and explained where to sign and why. The estimate was very close to what I actually paid, which went up slightly (about 100 dollars) because the second couch was slightly larger than originally documented. I felt that the paperwork was straightforward and the billing process transparent (which is nice when you're spending a couple G's for a service). All told, the move took 2 hours. I can't imagine how long it would've taken me and a group of my friends to do, let alone how we would've managed heavy and/or cumbersome items down the flight of stairs trip after trip. I am so grateful for this team of movers and for our onsite estimator, David - they did such a fabulous job and I could not be more pleased with this company so far!! I recommend them to anyone considering the cross-country move; let them make your life a little easier and rest assured your time and your belongings will be respected. I had a great experience with CANY Express and highly recommend their services. After a great deal of research, I chose CA-NY Express to move my household from Yuba City, CA to Middletown, NY. They have a great track record with the DOT (Department of Transportation); they do not sub contract to other moving companies; and they have their own warehouses. Both the pick-up from California and delivery to New York went without incident. The pick-up took two days because I had too much for just one truck; so the same crew came back the second day. Dante, the foreman was very organized and ensured that everything had an inventory tag on it; all 274 items/boxes! Even a carry on suitcase that I threw on the truck at the last minute had an inventory sticker placed on it in San Francisco. The crew: Dante the foreman, Jermaine, Eduardo and Nick were all very courteous and professional. They took care in making sure was loaded on the truck carefully without damaging my things or my house. I couldn't believe how fast they loaded all the boxes on the truck. I provided them lunch and they were all very grateful. My things were stored in their San Francisco for 4 1/2 months while waiting for my new home to be completed. My stored items were released on November 30 from San Francisco and arrived at the New Jersey warehouse on December 4. The delivery was supposed to take place on December 11; but the builders weren't finished with my home as promised so I had to reschedule to December 13. Customer Service was very accommodating with this change. The truck was already loaded and prepared for delivery on December 11; so they had to unload the truck and then reload again on December 13. Amazingly, every 274 items was accounted for after being loaded on and off trucks a total of 8 times from start to finish! The delivery crew arrived as promised in the delivery window time. It was only 19 degrees the entire day, so hats off to the crew working in such cold conditions. Mowgly, the foreman was very professional, courteous and thorough in explaining how the unloading would take place. He was extremely organized. The crew: William, Jose, Epi, Shandor and Jimmy W. were very efficient, polite and organized; making sure to call out each inventory number and the room it was going to. They emptied two trucks in about 5 hours. All the crew had positive attitudes throughout the process and showed no signs of fatigue toward the end of the move. All 274 items/boxes were accounted for. I provided lunch and gave them a tip and they were all so very grateful. These guys rock! I was very fortunate to get an experienced crew. It will take weeks, maybe months to unpack everything, but so far, I just uncovered three items that were damaged in the move. I can't say at which end it took place, pick-up or delivery. With this said, I think it is pretty amazing that with eight loads and unloads, all my things were accounted for. I would also like to give a shout out to the office staff. Everyone I worked with, from Lee Avidor and David Lujan in the California office and Alex, the Logistics Manager at the New Jersey warehouse were polite, accommodating and responded to emails and phone calls in a timely manner. I am very satisfied with my decision to go with CANY Express. As far as customer service goes, they walk their talk. I work in the entertainment industry and ship freight and goods regularly for work using the same vendors for years. I have also always packed and moved myself and never had any issues. This was the first super long personal haul and I was terrified to use "professional" movers. I know the horror stories and carelessness that employees can have with products and goods as they toss them in and out of trucks, warehouses, and destinations. Many carriers and movers use sub contractors, so you may "hire" national name brand company to move you, but they will send sub contractor to pick up, use another long-haul carrier to transport, sub contractor B to get into or out of storage, and sub contractor C to deliver. NOT WITH CA-NY, all the same company, and they treated everything with care and respect. These guys were all awesome!! The Foreman on both sides, Noel the sales and contact person, David in the office staff, just great, I am a very picky consumer, and expect the highest quality of service when I pay for it. These guys did better then I ever expected and I expected a lot. The best part my quote was HIGH and I PAYED LESS THEN EXPECTED. Carriers can charge by a variety of sketchy methods, weight, number of items, a combination of the two and tack on all sorts of unexpected charges. CA NY charges by volume and explains all the possible additional costs, (cubic foot) you fill 3/4 of truck you pay for the volume of 3/4 of truck, and they pack it floor to ceiling wall to wall. You can't ask for more. When the estimator comes you have to know the details of your move, all the items, information on destination details, stairs, distance, etc. If you provide accurate and correct information you will get an accurate and spot on cost estimate. If you forget the storage unit contents and the 7 story walk up during the quote don't expect the quote to be accurate. Give them the right info and you will get the right quote. I cost compared with several other carriers and these guys were competitive and on scale for coast to coast move. You can find cheaper options, but you will get what you pay for. On Special Note, if you don't know how to properly pack boxes and you pack your own and they get crushed in transit you can't be mad at anyone else. There are few horror stories for CA-NY but form what I saw and what I can tell, some of those were customer inexperience in moving. Learn to properly pack or pay the pros to do it for you. We moved from a 2 bedroom 1 bath 2 floor walk up in Astoria to town-home in Burbank Ca, we have a TON of stuff 216 items and 1500 cubic feet of stuff, I asked for destination storage so everything would go straight to California (extra charge), but I wanted it there so my lead time on delivery was as short as possible, Some items didn't ship together to CA, but everything was clearly marked and indicated on the bill of lading (inventory\manifest) every single item got a sticker with my name, account #, and Item number, EVERYTHING even the bundle of mops and brooms. HIGHLY RECOMMEND CA-NY Express !!!! Read on for more details. I recently moved from San Francisco, California to Greenwich, Connecticut. I used CA-NY Express as the moving company. I was very satisfied with their service, their price quote, the prompt customer service, time-estimates, volume estimates etc. I would admit that after reading some of the reviews on Yelp, BBB and Google, I was a little skeptical given the bad reviews some people had written. But I took my chance because of their low price quote and I would say that it was the best decision I made. There are quite a few reasons I liked them: (1) One was the guy who came to give us the initial estimate. His name was Ron. At every step while estimating how much our approximate volume will be, he was trying to suggest what wouldn't be worth taking with us (based on the value of the item vs. the cost of moving it). Clearly, he wasn't trying to convince us to take more stuff so they could charge us more, but was trying to give us practical advice which turned out to be pretty useful. (2) The other thing I liked about their service was the price. It was one of the cheapest I found. Unlike many others, their quote was based on volume and NOT on weight. Since volume is more easily estimable, it added far less uncertainty when comparing the estimate (191 cubic feet) and the actual volume (216 cubic feet). The whole thing cost us about $1400 including tips, which I thought was substantially lower compared to what a lot of people had said it might cost us (3) The delivery and pickup was smooth. 4 guys came for pick up and 5 for delivery. They were very efficient. I didn't use them for packing my stuff - just the furniture and carry. The fore-man numbered every item properly, 1 through 69. At delivery, I was given the original sheet at pickup to check the numbered items as they were bringing them into the new house, box by box. Pick up took 2 hours and delivery was done in under 45 minutes - including assembling and disassembling furniture. I would admit that I felt a little apprehensive initially with their appearance and demeanor. It would be great if they can dress up with CA-NY T-shirt or hoodies and put on a clean face (i.e. shave) and come in clean clothes, just so they appear more professional. (4) I didn't see any stuff that was missing or broken. Our 50" LED TV and glasses arrived in good shape. Could also be because me and my wife packed them pretty well. But on their part, they handled it with care. We sold a bunch of furniture before moving, so we had only a bed, a crib and some other small tables etc to move as furniture. I am still a bit puzzled that I didn't see anything that was a bad experience given I was expecting at least some of it (based on what other reviews said and the low price) but it is what is is. From the start to finish I felt like I was dealing with real people, very kind and courteous. My agent was very helpful in assisting with setting the whole delivery up. The team at the time of pick up were quick with packing and gentle with all my belongings. It isnt what I disliked, I would say it was more of what I was a bit upset about. Being from the transportation industry I am fully aware of the communication between drivers and their dispatchers, as well as the dispatchers to the customer. I know things can get miscommunicated and aware that things do happen, such as traffic, accidents, etc. I was pleased with the attempted communication the dispatcher had with me, however I felt that he was misinforming me the entire time. My delivery window was from 2-4, the disptacher contacted me at 315pm to inform me that the driver would be about 15 minutes late they were stuck on the BQE due to traffic.....I waited, I then received another phone call at 413pm, to inform me that the drivers were still stuck in traffic on the BQE, I then informed him that I still wished for them to deliver my things being that I waited and I was going to be home, there would be no reason for them not to deliver. It wasnt until 625pm that I reached out to the dispatcher to get an estimated time of arrival, where he asked "oh they arent they yet", when I informed him no they werent, he stated he would call me right back he will find out where they were. He called me a few minutes later and stated they were only 15 minutes away. This was great news, until I received a phone call from the driver at 704pm informing me they had just got off the Verrazano Bridge, which is a total of 40-50 minutes away based on traffic and route. The point is just to be honest about the whereabouts of the drivers and not to give me the run around, I was more then cooperative with the wait, there was no reason to misinform. After all this is said and done the drivers finally arrived at around 8pm and I couldn't have been more than pleased and satisfied with their service, teamwork, swiftness, accuracy and caution with getting the delivery done. I was 100% satisfied with CNYX and would recommend them to everyone. Not only did Elizabeth Solis and the rest of the dispatch team (on both ends) keep in constant and efficient communication with me throughout the entire process, they also sent useful (not annoying spam) email reminders regarding my inventory and arrival times (always called an hour prior to let me know when they would arrive). The San Francisco crew arrived exactly at 8:00 AM and were professional from start to finish. Despite the 3 flights of stairs the movers had to traverse, they were still happy to answer my questions and took extra precautions with my fragile items. Even though we opted to wrap and box our items ourselves, the movers came prepared with blankets, extra bubble wrap and boxes. The box came in handy for for our TV and they extra bubble wrapped our glass table, end tables, paintings and lamps. All of our stuff arrived in Manhattan from San Francisco in perfect condition and the (dis)assembly was quick and careful. I had not realized the California crew had safely stored all the screws and hardware required for the assembly of my bed frame, end tables and dining table, but the assembly crew on the New York end had paperwork noting exactly where everything was. Since I was not able to reserve a parking spot for the New York crew, the lead mover explained there would be an additional $10 fee added to my bill so they could park on the corner--which made sense and was explained very clearly. Yay no hidden fees! Instructions during inventory check at the time of move-in was also well explained and everything was correctly numbered. The movers in New York rolled out all of the rugs first so they could lay out the furniture and boxes exactly where I needed them. Where to start? This is by far the best logistics company you could and should ever use if you want to ship from CA to NY. I did a ton of shopping around and found this place (with the help of stellar reviews). The estimate: From the beginning my estimator was more than helpful and patient (Elizabeth you rock!). I would constantly add or delete items that I wanted to ship as I sold or didn't sell some items locally. The pickup: The pickup was very smooth, very quick and most important it was on time! I was called two days before to confirm the price of the delivery before I was charged the deposit fee. These folks waited for me to confirm before charging me for the deposit. I had already signed and returned my estimate and they could very well have charged the deposit the minute I provided credit card information but they waited to confirm that I wanted pickup and use of the service before they charged me. The guys that actually showed up for the pickup were polite and very professional they got everything done in less than 15 minutes. The delivery: The delivery window seems a little odd at first but is actually pretty simple. You choose a delivery date and they get your shipment as close to your destination as possible but you allow them up to seven days past the date you choose to get the shipment to you. This makes sense because, from a business standpoint, there is little reason to ship a half filled truck across the country. Regardless my delivery was on the exact date I chose anyway. After my experience with this company I would gladly refer anyone and everyone moving from CA to NY or vice versa to this company. It does live up to the hype. I can not express the love in which I appreciate these guys at Ca-Ny Express. From my first interaction with their Relocation Consultant --- Eric Rummel to Terry I have been impressed at every turn. Very competitive pricing, honest consulting, and most notably a seamless move from the East to West Coast. *On the East Coast* Moving across the country isn't easy nor is it cheap but the Ca-NY Ex made me feel like they actually cared. Teddy was my foreman for my job leaving NYC. "T" gave me all the"game" to maximize my cubic feet (how they calculate your total cost) which panned out very well because boy did I go over the number of boxes I estimated on my inventory checklist. Not only did Teddy come through in the clutch but he made sure to act in a timely manner, with respect, and genuine want to deliver off the charts service. *Note; After your items are packaged you can pay via almost any form of payment. Also, the price you pay upon pickup is your flat fee, provided the movers do not have to unpack your items or travel more than a city block.* *During shipment* During the shipment of your items, you are alerted of its location every 2 days. Each day it essentially touches a new state and a new storage facility. It was great to be able to track your things and not feel worried about its true location. 24-48 hrs before your items are scheduled to arrive at your new residence you will receive a call & email making sure you are well aware of the appending drop-off. *On the West Coast* Easy as can be. Every one of my items was checked off and handled with care into my new abode. No stress one bit. With over 20 boxes, two tvs, selves, etc the team was out in just under 45 mins. I had to find movers to move a single bedroom from Los Angeles to New York. I called and inquired around, and apparently it costs upwards of $2,000 to move a handful of banker's boxes (mostly clothes I don't wear anymore and I should get rid of. Hello 2009 Urban Outfitters sale rack) a very unique IKEA malm bed frame, bug-bed free mattress, an ironing board, and two surfboards. HOWEVER, I found California New York Express Moving and they quoted me a very competitive price that was easily under all of the other moving companies. A rep called me as soon as I e-mailed them and he gave me the run down. I even had to change the date a couple times and they complied no problem. On moving day the movers came exactly on time, they even called to update me for an ETA. They were friendly, introduced themselves and quickly moved my stuff into the truck. They disassembled and packed my IKEA bed frame like pros. They obviously have a very different instruction guide than the rest of us. They held my stuff till I was able to find an apartment in Brooklyn as they include a free month of storage. When I called them to tell them I was ready to have my stuff delivered they immediately took it out of storage and started to drove it from LA to NY, giving me daily automated daily e-mails that said exactly where the truck was. On delivery day, they were again on time, made sure I had all my stuff and even put the IKEA bed back together again. Moving an apartment of furniture cross-country by myself from New York to California was a daunting process. I compared prices between a number of moving companies and was impressed by the affordable rates provided by CANYX. Once I requested a quote, I began a line of communication with a very helpful customer service representative at the company, who promptly answered all and any questions I had via email and phone. After deciding to use CANYX, the process to organize my move went smoothly, with an easily accessible online inventory that I could update up to 72 hours before the move. I was also able to schedule the pickup and delivery dates with no problem, and I booked about a month in advance to my move. On the day of the move, the movers arrived in the provided time frame and Ivan (I think!), the man I assumed to be in charge, went through everything with me beforehand and afterwards. He and his two other movers were all extremely polite and incredibly efficient, packing and wrapping everything carefully, and even dissembling a patio table. After they left, I received frequent email updates informing me of the progression of the shipment, and in about week, my belongings were in California ready to be delivered. Because I hadn't moved yet, I authorized my roommate in Los Angeles to oversee the delivery, and she also reported to me that the movers were very friendly, quick, and efficient, and arrived during the designated window. We moved from Brooklyn to Los Angeles and using this moving company was a great decision! They came highly recommended to us from friends who had made a similar move months before and now we recommend them to everyone we know! Two weeks before our move I filled out an online inventory, got an estimated quote right away, booked the date I wanted and was able to update my inventory as things changed up until a couple days before the move date (I got updated quotes every time I updated the online inventory - super helpful.) Price breakdowns, costs and payment methods were clear and straighforward. The moving teams on both ends were professional, communicative, friendly, and super fast! All our items arrived on time, intact and complete. I had some oddly shaped items that did not fit in standard boxes (artwork, lamps, etc) and the guys found creative solutions to make sure all my belongings were protected. Really appreciate their efforts. On move in day, the guys unboxed and assembled all furniture in record speed and then removed a lot of used packaging materials which really helped us out. (Epi & team in NY and Andres & team in CA) We also got daily status and location updates from the company so we could keep track of how our things were making their way across the country. I cannot thank CA NY Express enough! They made my stressful cross-country move easy. The teams in both New York and Los Angeles were knowledgeable (we moved a grand piano!), efficient, and friendly. I felt confident that my items were taken care of. The process was simple, and I felt like I knew what was happening each step of the way. The estimator came and quickly made an inventory of every item in my Brooklyn apartment. From there, it was easy to decide how I could trim my items, and they accepted a revised list. We changed our schedule multiple times, and the team was friendly and understanding about our changing plans. The day of the move the team showed up and within hours had every item of furniture wrapped, blanketed, and protected, items that could be disassembled taken apart, and every box tagged and numbered with our information. Once we secured our new home, the team was unloading at our new place in under two weeks. I received notifications as to where the truck was as it made its journey from the New York warehouse, and a friendly team member called me to set up my delivery to happen on the same day as my items arrival in Los Angeles. We recently used CA to NY express for our move from NY to San Diego, we had an excellent experience with the company. Everyone we encountered was helpful and professional. The rep actually came to the house for the estimate and he was great, we felt comfortable with him immediately. He answered every call, email and question we had. The movers came as scheduled and were excellent. They packed our furniture very well and they were quick, a careful inventory was taken by the foreman. All packing materials were included in the price quote so there were no surprises. The moving insurance was explained in detail by the rep, as with all moving companies they insure items by weight you get $0.60 per pound or replacement, it was recommended to purchase additional insurance from another company. Delivery came as promised on the day and time discussed. The CA team was equally as impressive as the NY team. There were no surprise fees, they unpacked all the furniture and assembled everything they had disassembled. I am happy to say that every piece of furniture made it with no damage, even the pieces made of particle board (which everyone says upfront there is a good chance will break). All the boxes were accounted for and out of 80+ boxes maybe 4 had some light damage, but absolutely nothing broke. I have very delicate pieces lots of glass wear, and holiday china and glass as well as porcelain houses; not one piece has any damage. I highly recommend this company for any move. read more

They ensured that I received the best price and that the entire process went smoothly without any headaches. Eric was always available to answer my questions. The moving teams were fantastic--four movers picked up my belongings in California, and three guys delivered them to my storage facility in New York. Originally, the second team was supposed to take my furniture to my brother's house, but since he couldn't make room during the Christmas holiday, Eric helped me switch the delivery without any issues. Moving from NYC to LA in the middle of a pandemic can already be super stressful, but having a smooth experience with shipping your stuff kind of eases everything! 3 crew members showed up to our 3 bedroom NYC aprtment on a narrow street. luckily, there was open parking right across the street (theres neverrrr parking!) They showed up on the earlier side within the estimated time frame i was given which was great! My husband and i packed most of the stuff ourselves beforehand. When the crew arrived, they made sure everything was packed as correctly and safest for transport as possible. It took about 2 hours in total (we had to stop because it started to POURRR rain for about 30 minutes). The actual final price was LOWER than the given estimated quote! That was a major plus. :) On the LA side of the move, they were in and out within 40 minutes or less. Super quick. I checked off boxes as they brought them inside. Everything was accounted for and NOTHING WAS BROKEN!!!! They were professional and very effecient on both sides. If i ever do another big move, i would 1000% use them again and i will recommend to anyone moving cross-country! My salesperson correspondant was named Elizabeth and she was amazing! I read other people's reviews just to see how my experience compared. I only have great things to say about California New York Express Moving. The online tool provided a spot on quote, the movers were fast and friendly, and everything got to NY intact and on time. What else can you ask for. A few things that will probably make your move go smoother and avoid those 1 star reviews yourself: 1) Some people complained about broken items. We did most of the wrapping ourselves and was heavy on the bubble wrap and ensured we bought the extra strong boxes from Home Depot. It's moving from California to NY! For the furniture, not sure why others had issues but they used multiple blankets and unscrewed the legs off my dining room table. When it got to NY they just put it back together 2) Regarding lost items and getting reimbursed. Thankfully, they did not lose anything. I would be upset too if they lost my stuff but that is why they recommend you buy insurance. They clearly state they only reimburse like 60 cents a box so they recommend insurance to get reimbursed for the full value of your items. I likely will be moving back to the west coast in a couple years and there is only 1 moving company I will be looking at (assuming they keep the price reasonable!). Again great experience. read more

There are so many options for movers out there and it's a very daunting task picking the "right" one. We settled on CA - NY Express because the online reviews were exceptional. The price quoted was very reasonable, so as with any great deal discovered online, we braced ourselves for all possible outcomes, and took the plunge. We're absolutely thrilled that we did! To begin with, customer service was superb. All questions and concerns were answered promptly and efficiently by the front office. Moving day was shockingly easy. Our foreman, Silas, went way above and beyond the call of duty, and his team had our one bedroom apartment packed and loaded in the truck quickly (2.5 hours), but with great care. They applied extra finesse with our antiques and fragile pieces, which was very comforting. The whole experience was a ballet of efficiency (apologies for the metaphor, but we had been expecting chaos and were overjoyed to receive such well oiled, professional treatment. These guys know their business). The same was true for delivery (which beat the estimated arrival time by a few days). We couldn't be any happier! These folks are friendly, enthusiastic, safe, efficient, and affordable. We'll definitely be using CA - NY Express on out return trip to NYC next year. Thanks guys! read more

CA NY Express moved me & my husband from CA to NY in 2011 and we loved them SO much, we hired them to move us back from NY to CA in 2018! I've already recommended this company to friends and colleagues (who reported similar positive experiences) and would recommend again to anyone considering a cross-country move. The whole team-- from account managers, movers, foremen, dispatchers, storage facility employees, etc., etc.-- were friendly AND efficient from start to finish. These people are experts at what they do and also provide excellent customer service along the way-- all at a competitive and reasonable rate. Our move back to CA was delayed for personal reasons and we were in limbo for 9 months. For a reasonable monthly rate, CA NY Express allowed us to store the majority of our possessions in their storage facility in NJ which we were able to access easily as needed. When the time came to make the big move, our items were shipped to our new home in CA on the earlier side of the window provided, with detailed updates along the way. Our inventory arrived intact and our actual move-in was completed in under one hour! When my corporate cross-country relocation went wrong, CA NY Express was there for me every step of the way! I really recommend them! Everything started out perfect with my initial move out of my NY 1-BDR Apt. They did a perfect job packing all of my items! But, after only 1 month in CA, when my job fell through (!), I had to call CA NY Express to ask them to hold my move until I knew what I would do next... They understood and agreed to store my items indefinitely. Every time I called to give them an update or ask any questions, they were there to help me. Now, almost 1 1/2 yrs later (!), I am moving from their temporary storage to MN. Since the actual cross-country move didn't happen, CA NY Express adjusted my final moving bill pretty fairly. They worked closely with my new moving company (CA NY Express doesn't move to MN) and not only ensured that all my items got transferred safely to the moving truck, but made sure the correct cubic feet volume was recorded. Even though I had such a bad moving experience, I was glad CA NY Express were my moving company, and I am thankful to them for having been there from beginning to end, and most of all, for making me feel like I was family! We found CA NY Express on a blog that was happy with them and so are we. They were super personal in the pre-moving process, explaining everything. To be honest, my wife and I didn't do the best job packing or with our inventory as we were doing it remotely and giving it our best guess. We didn't sign up for partial pack but the guys when they showed up quickly looked at what we had done, and explained the cheapest option. For us that was buying 3 wardrobe boxes and putting some of our loose stuff in those. They were fast and furious packing up and wrapping mattresses, art work and couches. Our stuff actually beat us back to LA because we were in Kansas City for the weekend. Our stuff was delivered on our first preferred day and nothing was broken including not one BUT TWO HUGE mirrored desks. We had just expected that they would be broken, but not even a crack! The best part is the estimate and the actual price were only $100 different, moving companies usually add all kinds of hidden fees when they show up and we hadn't done the best prep or inventory job so we were expecting $1000-$2000 over our estimate. My moving luck finally changed when I was referred to All In Moving company from a friend who had used them three times for her moves in LA. I called them Monday afternoon, and was able to schedule immediately for the next day morning. It was so easy and hassle free to book and the man on the phone was so friendly and made it so simple. A confirmation email was sent right after the call and the next morning movers, Antonio+Brandon, came right on time to the first address and immediately to the second address for the second pickup. I have never experienced faster, efficient, honest, more intelligent, and friendly movers. When I first heard the hourly rate over the phone call I thought it was pretty high in price since it's the highest hourly rate I've agreed for (I really trusted my friend's referral), but what you pay for is what you get. Antonio+Brandon were quick thorough, careful and FAST at disassembling and reassembling parts. It took them 4 hours flat to get to 3 addresses, and it ended up costing me $600 --WAY LESS THAN ANY OTHER MOVING COMPANY I HAVE WORKED WITH THE LAST 10 YEARS (I have always somehow get ripped off by cheap scammy movers and end up spending more than $850+ for moving a one bedroom in LA) I couldn't be more stress-free and happy about a move ever. Disappointed with how a serious safety and communication issue was handled…read more I hired this company for a very specific job: lifting the upper portion of a large china hutch, estimated at 200-300 lbs, approximately 15 feet and placing it onto the lower cabinet. I provided the company with the details and photos beforehand. Before paying the agreed $300 flat rate, I specifically questioned why the contract listed only two movers because I did not believe two people could safely handle the weight. During the phone conversation, I was assured that the two-person listing was standard and that the foreman would be notified that the job required additional manpower. I relied on that assurance when I paid and signed the contract. Only two movers arrived. I immediately raised my concern again. They said they would use shoulder lifting straps, but they could not locate them and proceeded anyway. During the lift, the cabinet began to tilt, and I was told they "needed me in the middle." I ended up physically helping lift and stabilize a 200-300 lb piece of furniture--the exact situation I had tried to prevent by hiring professional movers and specifically requesting adequate staffing. Had I known beforehand that only two movers would be sent and that I might be expected to assist with the lift myself, I would never have agreed to the $300 service. What was particularly concerning was that one of the movers told me they had not been informed about the size or weight of the cabinet before arriving. I don't blame the two movers; they were courteous and did their best. My issue is with the company's communication, staffing, and preparation. I contacted the company afterward and gave them an opportunity to address the situation. The matter was handled through a third-party claims company, which stated that it investigated my complaint. After an initial $50 refund offer and my request that they reconsider, the final offer remained $50 on a $300 job. No additional effort was made by the moving company to resolve my concerns. Fortunately, no one was injured and the furniture was not damaged, but that doesn't erase the unnecessary safety risk. I hired professional movers specifically so I would not have to participate in lifting a piece of furniture this heavy. Based on the service itself and, especially, how my concerns were handled afterward, I cannot recommend this company. If you're hiring them for a heavy or unusually difficult item, I strongly recommend getting the promised number of movers and required equipment confirmed in writing before paying, regardless of what you're told over the phone.

The initial estimate seemed fair, but I was shocked by the final bill due to extremely high packing material charges that were never clearly explained upfront. The biggest issue has been storage. After paying $300/month for storage for the past year, I was told I'd have to pay over $1,000 just to have my belongings pulled from storage--even if I used my own movers or retrieved them myself. I was told this fee would be waived if I agreed not to leave a negative review. I'd rather pay the money and warn others. Consumers deserve to know what they're getting into. I've never dealt with a business I found this unethical. If this review helps someone avoid the stress and unexpected costs I've experienced, it's worth it. Daniel I still expect my storage container to be opened as scheduled on August 2 at 8 am so my movers can retrieve my belongings.

Sunshine Boys Moving embezzled over $4,000 from an account I had used for a deposit fee. When the goods arrived, the driver demanded $5,000 in cash, and then raised to $5,500. He hired thugs off the street, and some furniture that was very dear to me arrived broken. The police had to come three times because the driver, Peter, kept threatening to drive off with our stuff or leave it on the street. The men were insulting and threatening. They charged me $1,795 for packing materials when everything arrived in its original packing. They charged me a bogus fee of $2,000 some odd dollars for extra cubic feet. They lied, and lied, and then lied some more. I think they must have been reliable at one time, but something has gone terribly wrong with this company. AVOID IT LIKE THE PLAGUE!

We got the same crew of guys the second time around and it was great to catch up with them. These guys are on time, super efficient, friendly, and honest. At the end of the move, they even invited my paranoid husband to inspect the truck to make sure nothing was left behind. We had some crazy heavy furniture and without any complaints they were ready to disassemble, pack, and reassemble at the new location. They bring their own tools, packing supplies, jokes and great attitude and are super delicate about moving things around the house without banging into walls/door frames. Hopefully we won't need to move for another year but if we do, we'll be giving Joe another call.

The owner personally came to my home, inspected the area I wished to drop my box and where Pods had refused to drop, and the next day his driver came to my warehouse to drop off an empty container, waited while we loaded it which we had completed in under 30 minutes and then took my To Go Box to my home address where it sits now happily in my 75 foot long 1949 drive way by my garage:) The Driver could not have been more gracious, helpful and courteous. Just the day before the Pods driver had been disrespectful; pompous and uncooperative and thus I canceled service with them (they lost a 7 month service contract) and now happy as can be with To Go Box!:) There are many choices via these mobile storage boxes, as is I have tried three; Pack Rat tried to add on unmentioned delivery fees not listed on their website thus I canceled that; Pods practically impossible to communicate with by phone unless you want to wait 40+ minutes and then luck of the draw if the driver is professional and courteous or not and then lastly of the three To Go Box whom I love and will happily use until my work is done:) I cannot say enough positive things about this business and it's people.
