I was headed out of the city on my way back to Indy and I hadn't yet had my obligatory order of Toasted Ravioli. So, I went onto Yelp to see what places were nearby, open and serving the local favorite. This place had good reviews and was within 10 minutes from my location. I placed an online order (through their website, I believe) which was powered by Grub Hub. Once I'd arrived at the location, I had to circle the block to look for parking (Google Maps warned that parking was difficult in this area). I went inside and was directed back outside and down the sidewalk to the kitchen entrance for to-go orders. This was a rather odd arrangement. I found myself standing, unnoticed in a hot and smokey kitchen. The gentleman who was cooking appeared angry and overwhelmed. Eventually, he asked if I was there for a pick-up...continuously cursing under his breath. I didn't know if he was going to check on it or what, so I just stood there...awkwardly. A young woman came over and asked in the sweetest and lowest voice for my name. She then went and checked the ticket. The cook exclaimed that they'd just received the order. The website had estimated 15 minutes for the order to be ready. After all, it was just some fried ravioli and calamari, and I'd driven 10 minutes there prior to circling the block for parking. I find it hard to believe that they had just received the order. He said it would be about 10-12 minutes. I went outside, to avoid smelling like a fry-cook myself, and went to move my car closer to this entrance. It was too late! My daughter immediately said I smelled like fries. Why, pray tell, are customers being sent to the kitchen to retrieve their own food??? Eventually, I got the food. After enduring more fussin' and cussin' from the cook who came outside to hand me the food and then realized that it would probably be nice to have a bag. He seemed well-intentioned, but genuinely overwhelmed. He said "I can't!...they got me cookin' and servin'....I can't. I cannot." Just then, the gentleman who'd sent me back there from the inside of the restaurant entered the kitchen and offered the cook some statements in an attempt to placate him. He pointed out that he had the two ladies there in the kitchen to assist and then pointed at me and said "she'll probably help too, won't you?!" Absolutely not! I may have been in the kitchen looking like "the help", but I was actually on holiday/vacation. To top it all off, my daughter opened her calamari to find that it had been served with marinara sauce and not the aioli that was listed on the menu. She never would've ordered it if that was the only sauce offering. This time, I sent her in to avoid them trying to put me to work again. She returned frustrated. She said that the cook had told her that he believed they were out of it, grabbed a random container of sauce, squeezed some out into a to-go sauce cup and sent her on her way with no explanation or description. Turns out that was just garlic butter...but it was better than marinara in my daughter's eyes. The food was just meh. I ate the ravioli while driving and it was okay. The customer service aspect of this visit definitely overshadowed the food. Maybe we would have had a better experience dining in, but we may never know.
The food was fairly good. I was very satisfied overall with the quality ingredients and quantity. It did take a bit of time to prepare and I had to wait extra time as my order was first prepared as a pizza, which i could had just taken, but I really wanted a calzone and had been waiting to order one, so I therefore had to wait a bit longer for them to make what I wanted lol which was not the best for me as I was super hungry already. The flavors did not pop as I expected but they probably rushed some to make the correction. I will definitely return so they can redeem themselves.
What a cool neighborhood pizza place. it is Italian Sicily influenced. The salad surprised me as l ordered to convinced myself to be healthy. It was fantastic. The Supremo pizza has great ingredients and was good. I judge a pizza by the crust and their pizza was tasty each bite. We will return. It is also connected to an arcade so has an adult seen with that space and some of the decorations throughout the room.
Might be our new favorite pizza! The mural on the ceiling and the art on the walls make this a very special place. Plenty to look at and take in. The salads were very good but the pizza was exceptional! I like how you can order by the slice and get more than just cheese or pepperoni. I am a vegetarian and my boyfriend is not. We will definitely return!
Cafe Piazza in Benton Park, St. Louis, is a must-visit, especially on National Pizza Day. As a staple in the area, it captures the essence of a true Italian piazza meaning a public square or marketplace, especially in an Italian town We crafted our own pizza and opted for the Quattro cheese with jalapeños, and it did not disappoint. The cheese pulls were phenomenal. As you walk in, look up at the ceiling. Painted by a Bosnian artist over a 3 month period, this is the Sistine chapel of St. Louis! Amazing!
This is a solid pizza spot for thin chewy wood fired pizza. I will say that while the space is really cool and eclectic, the service was surprisingly low energy. The person serving us was very efficient with keeping our drinks full, following up after we got our food to provide napkins and getting our check, but it was not personable or very welcoming. As for the food, my fav was the arugula and prosciutto, even though it was a bit oily, but the prosciutto was perfectly tender and salty.
This was a nice little place to stop before a concert at Off Broadway. The inside was buzzing with character, there was a nice selection of beers, and all of the food we tried was good. They were a bit short staffed the night we went but the server and cook were great and the food was worth the wait. Would definitely stop by here again to dine when I'm in this neck or the woods.
This is an alright place for cheaper Italian fare. It's nothing overly special, but not horrible. One great plus- they almost always have a Groupon available. I highly recommend you get one, if you want to save a few bucks. The service isn't terrific, but I suspect that depends on the day and how many people are working. We finally had to go ask for menus at the bar, and the guy behind the counter seemed irritated. We finally did get table service, and that server was much more friendly. I had the chicken parm panini and chips which were both very good. The rest of our group enjoyed the calzone and pizza that they ordered. They do have stacks of trivial pursuit cards on the tables, which we had a lot of fun with while waiting/eating. I'd say this place is great for lunch or a super casual dinner. Get a Groupon and give it a try. Probably wouldn't bring a first date here, though.
Searching for a pizza place near Downtown St Louis that was open after 9 PM. Found this place. The dough is GREAT, the sauce is AWESOME and the FOUR CHEESE Blend is unbelievably FULL OF FLAVOR! Give them a try...
My friend and I came here after a comedy show down the road and had beer (Stella Artois) and shared a Queen Margherita pizza. It's a unique take with the cherry tomatoes and shredded mozzarella but still pretty good. You can also dine in the arcade room which was nice because you can go straight to playing games after. The service was good and the ambiance ecclectic and with very good lighting and wall art.
We really love their pizza and Benton Parkade attached to Café Piazza. We can't keep ourselves at home on weekends. XD Great thing is we can actually log into our Stern accounts with these pinball machines, and track our progress. Most of the pins have this feature on. *This is a rare find in the city!* Also, Stl Toy Co. is coming to the Benton Parkade. Looks like it will be a collectible toy shop inside. (See the pic I took.) We had some trouble with service one time and it is all good now. Thank you for your great customer care!
This restaurant is so good! The decor is wonderful I always notice something different when we go. The breakfast pizza is the best I've had. We used our passport, but have been there a few times. Everything we've had there has been excellent. If you're into pool, arcade games, and the like, this is the place for you. Enjoy!
The breakfast pizza was GREAT and I got to eat it at dinner time! They've got my heart food-wise. Drink-wise maybe not so much. I was told that their Bloody Mary was just a mix and when I asked about a cider, they were out. The service was good and the building seemed to be an eclectic mish-mash. Pretty neat. Wouldn't mind stopping in to try other menu items.

I saw three different employees in two different parts of this restaurant. None were wearing masks. Curbside pickup was not available. We walked in the wrong door and were specifically told we had to walk in a different door to pickup our order. Female bartender helped us, was not wearing a mask. read more

Came here for lunch with a large group on a Saturday. They sat us quickly in the dining section. There's a separate entrance to the right for dining in. The place was much bigger than I realized! I ordered an adult beverage, some sort of alcoholic strawberry lemonade. Delicious! I got the Vito panini: prosciutto, mozeralla, tomato. It was so good! Everyone's food looked good. No complaints. They have some interesting menu choices for pizza. I'd like to go back for the pizza. The decor is fun. Murals on the walls and ceilings combining local and Italian history. Great neighborhood! It felt a little crowded, but it could have been because they pushed tables together for out 10+ group. read more

Tried to support a local business during the quarantine. The calamari is sparse at best, and smells so bad we won't eat it. Also- tomato bisque? Pizza sauce with shredded cheddar. Disappointed at best. Especially since we showed up 5-10 minutes after the food was supposed to be ready and waited a good 5-10 more just for the bartender to finish talking to her friend. read more

Cafe Piazza was great for lunch on a cold day. Love the interior of this little pubby pizza place on Arsenal. Lots of murals and stainless steel cuteness. Parking was plentiful on the street too. There were a few sidewalk tables outside for warmer weather dining. Our visit was around 2 pm on a weekday and it was quite empty. We ordered a Margarita pizza which had a chewy/crisp medium thick crust, delicious homemade garlicky sauce and plenty of gooey mozzarella cheese. Not quite enough basil for me, though. Love my basil! We also tried the Arancini which were crisp, cheesy, and divine in their bed of delicious tomato sauce. I highly recommend the food. Improvement could be made to friendliness of service, check-backs, etc as well as cleanliness of restrooms, which was poor on our visit. I would love to try it again soon. read more

I love going here for brunch on the weekends !! They make doughnuts out of pizza dough thats a kick ass idea !! Thé papas pie is the Best breakfast pizza i ever had all the usual breakfast suspects on the pie but instead of pizza sauce on it your choice is sausage gravy or chilli !!! There regular pizza is awesome too the pizza is the rock star at This joint but a lot of hip and cool things on the menu and now they added an arcade bar To the place ill be going There more often now !! read more

What a cool place! We were driving by, looking for a place for brunch, and this caught our eye so we decided to try it out! First off, the atmosphere and decor is really awesome and has a city St. Louis feel. The graffiti and spray paint mural all over the ceiling is really colorful and well done. Adds a lot of character to the place. I had the breakfast calzone, which was about the size of half a pizza, it was huge! It had scrambled eggs, Italian sausage, honey baked ham, cheese, gravy, and an awesome crust! It was definitely enough for two people, but I am glad I had leftovers for breakfast the next morning. haha I really want to go back and try them out for dinner, the chicken parm panini caught my eye, so I think next time I will be trying that for sure! read more

Dude, this place is the bees knees. I had the breakfast panini with tomato bisque and it was a match made in heaven. Played pool like the devils fiddle while I smoked cigarettes out front and just generally chilled. So great. Eff 42 G's at DandB's... .... Barcade and cafe Piaza rawk! update: had a delicious pizza, which I took home after I killed the time shooting pool and allegedly one tequila, maybe a Busch showed up in the shadow of that Belgian monstrosity, but I digress, the point is, ... this pizza is to die for. I ordered something veggie and rather Italian sounding and it was perfect. Nice char on the crust awesome cheese. and veggie ratio, fresh tomato's and flavorful artichokes! Greasy like a NYC slice off the cart, yet somehow classy and sophisticated. If you are sleeping on this place you really ought to check it out. Don't let my rawkus revue fool you. This is a really chill place. Family friendly during day and evening hours, I got a feeling this place turns up as the witching hour approaches. Might have to swing thru on pool league night. I had the Il Vicaro Sicilian pizza and the caprese sangria salad for take-away. The salad was great. The tomatoes were juicy, the mozzarella was fresh. I really liked the combination balsamic dressings. It was small for the price. The pizza was also great. I like Sicilian style pizza, but the doughiness may not be for all. The menu describes this as deep dish, which is unfortunate wording. Thick crust is more accurate, but the crust is very good. The toppings were maybe a little skimpy and the size of the pizza was not great for the price. I deducted a star because the flavor/taste wasn't exactly perfect, but that is being picky. I deducted another star for poor value. I still consider 3/5 very good. Value and flavor deductions have quite a bit to do with better value and flavor options available in the area. read more

We were looking for lunch and a good cup of coffee. Lunch was good but I was a tad surprised by the fresh fruit presentation. We expected specialty coffee but when we asked the waitress about the coffee, her response was, "it's awful". We did appreciate her honesty and glad we moved on down the road to a coffeehouse. What a charming little place! Went here on a whim with the husband while our offspring was at sleepaway camp. The old Benton Park Cafe space has been transformed into an old world style bistro, Italian style. (Yes, I'm sure there's a word in Italian for this type of place. I studied French; work with me here.) The frescos with the St. Louis subject matter are a really nice touch. Loved the portrait of Shelley Winters as a young actress, especially. Nice limited selection on wine and beers. Good presentation and taste on the Calamari Fritti. Husband really enjoyed the Italian Beef Panini, with hot Giardinaria and fresh bakery bread. The hand cut chips with it were really good (not that I, ahem, appropriated a few.) I ordered the pizza Capricciosa , knowing that there would be leftovers, hoping it would be terrific. It didn't disappoint. I'm normally not a fan of a chewy crust, but this hand tossed, cornmeal dusted one has just the right amount of crunch to make this cracker crust aficionado into a convert. Topped with prosciutto, portobello, tomato, artichoke, fresh mozzarella, and julienned leaf basil, plus a shake of red pepper flake (kudos to having it on the table!) it was just what I was craving, with enough left over for tomorrow's lunch. Finished the meal with cannoli, which was just right. No soggy crust or overdone filling (pet peeves.) My only constructive criticism: the one guy who was both bar tending and serving could have seriously used some help. I didn't downgrade the review because he was really working hard to make sure everyone was waited on, but there were several tables on a Tuesday night that he fielded all by himself. Would have been nice for him to have some help. We were in no hurry, and he did an admirable job, but earned every bit of the tip we left him. If I could, I would leave 4.5 stars, but ultimately decided that I would give the 5 based on his hard work. Overall, a nice experience with good food. We will be back! read more
