This place has the best ube desserts! And really unique desserts that you can't really find anywhere else. We always like to get the ube tres leches and ube leche flan. They also have a combo deal right now: buy 4 of one type of dessert (ube leche flan, ube crack cheesecake, ube truffle, or ube crinkle), get a free hibiscus calamansi drink. My friend got this and said it was good! We also tried a new dessert, the halo halo bread pudding. There's a slight banana flavor, it's pretty tasty! It also comes with ube ice cream, which you can get on the side if you're not eating it right away. I also like to get the upside down halo halo if I'm feeling up for a bigger dessert. The corn flakes provide a really nice crunch and texture. It's surprisingly easy to reach all the different layers and get a good spoonful of everything. Everything in there was delicious and not too sweet but the boba was kind of mushy. The ube cookies were good but pretty pricey just over $4 per cookie and they weren't very big. We arrived and walked around all the parklet eating areas that downtown Mountain View has to offer and noticed that there was a Café 86 around the corner. We always stop and grab an ube latte and this time was no difference. Just be mindful that you cannot get NO ICE with this drink. Details: Ended up here with a couple friends after a nearby lunch, because we were too lazy to drive anywhere else for "better" (according to Yelp reviews) dessert. And while we didn't actually get any of the dessert options here due to being insanely full from our recent meal, we did grab some of their jasmine calamansi drinks at half sweetness, which ended up being surprisingly good! At 50% sweet (the lowest you can go), you're getting a much less sugary drink than I would have expected, which is further cut by the slight bitterness of what I assume is the calamansi rind or the jasmine tea itself, all-in-all making for a pretty refreshing drink, especially on any kind of hot day! Accessibility: Seating is pretty limited to bar counter seating, and not particularly accessible if you're planning to stick around and eat there, but not a huge issue if you're just in need of a spot to place your drink while you're hanging out. read more

If you want your sweet cravings to be satisfied, I highly recommend you pay Cafe 86 a visit! I usually order the Upside Down Halo Halo, Ube Monster Milkshake, or Churrochies (with ube ice cream). The Upside Down Halo Halo (5/5) is slightly different from the traditional Filipino Halo Halo since extra ingredients, such as corn flakes and boba, are added. Overall, I find myself enjoying the Upside Down Halo Halo every time I order it. I've had the Ube Monster Milkshake (4/5) a total of two times, but I enjoyed the drink most when I had it for the first time. The first time I tried it, the ube flavor was prominent and the consistency of the milkshake was perfectly creamy. The second time I ordered the milkshake, the ube flavor wasn't as strong and the milkshake tasted more like a slushy. I will post an update the next time I order the milkshake! The Churrochies (5/5) is probably my favorite item from the menu as of right now. The ube ice cream is not included in the order, and it costs an additional $3. The Churrochies were perfectly crispy and perfectly coated in cinnamon and sugar, and the caramel drizzle on the Churrochies was the cherry on top. The service here is great! I find it more convenient to place a mobile order because I don't have to wait in a line when I arrive. The place is on the cozier side and doesn't have as many seats, but the place doesn't feel stuffy at all. I've had Cafe 86 bookmarked since their OG location, so was ecstatic to find that a store was opening up much closer to home. They're actually opening up quite a few around CA. Stopped by on a Saturday night and was surprised to find this place relatively empty...until right after we ordered. A small crowd formed but dispersed quickly once orders were placed. We decided to try the upside down halo halo ($8.99) as we favored the ube base instead of the original brown sugar. The drink comes with the same toppings for the most part as the signature halo halo but with vanilla ice cream instead of ube. You can switch out the ice flavor if you'd like. The cornflakes added a nice crunch! We also ordered an ube butter bar ($5.25) and a couple ube leche flan cupcakes ($5.25 each). The ube butter bar did not have the texture I expected. I thought it would be softer and possibly with a mochi-like texture. The crust was actually quite hard, but the ube flavor came through nicely. I didn't mind it, but probably would not get again. The ube leche flan cupcakes were everything I had hoped for. You get a decent size of flan sitting on top of the cupcake, and it keeps well in the fridge too! We didn't eat it the first day because we were too stuffed from all the other sweets and were pleasantly surprised to find that the cake base was still rather moist. It wasn't dried out as feared and the flan was very thick and custardy. 10/10 would get again! read more

Love the unique drinks and desserts they offer here! I had to try their yummy looking halo halo. They have 2 options- regular and upside down. According to staff, the upside down is more popular. The difference is the regular has more of the brown sugar base and upside down is more ube based. Surprisingly, it wasn't too overly sweet but I do think the cup size doesn't necessarily have to be that big. You have the toppings on the top and bottom but then in the middle there is kind too much empty space. I also had their sea salt crema coffee which was just good in general. Came here since found out they had a little closer location. Parking is hard if you go on a weekend that's busy but nonetheless you can find parking on the street on behind the buildings or around the area if you don't mind walking. I ordered 2 milo cupcakes and a chocolate coffee crunch cup. When I ordered the cupcakes I pointed at them but clearly that wasn't enough for the young guy working at the register since he thought I ordered 2 milo milk teas?? I was wondering what was taking long and then when they gave me the drink I said I ordered cupcakes and not drinks and the young man thought I wanted to do another other like what?? I didn't order milk tea in the first place. I told him when I ordered I pointed at the cupcakes but he didn't know what to do and wanted me to just pay more for another order. The older lady got involved and was understanding and gave me a refund. I'm not sure if they really know English but the lady was nice and understanding but the young guy he needs to work on his customer service or something. Probably won't come here again since that whole thing, haven't experienced that at any of the other locations before. The staff kindly offered to reduce the Ube syrup by half. The Ube flavor was still very strong, which I like. Towards the end it was still a bit too sweet for me, but otherwise a great drink!
