This place was so convenient during my first stay in NYC! It was across from my hotel and the service never took long. Everyone was friendly even during busy hours. I really enjoyed their bagel sandwiches and cannoli! The coffee was good. I mostly had the Americano but occasionally I tried a latte. There usually was seating depending on the time of day. STEPH JUDGEMENT: Good for a quick coffee stop. I wanted coffee and this place happened to be the most convenient. It was packed with tourists, not surprisingly, given its location, but the line was mercifully short when I stopped in. I just got an iced latte with regular milk to go--it was good, but nothing special. The pastry case looked good, though, and they offer a big variety of items to choose from. Cafe Aroma, you used to be my go to place for breakfast on visits to NYC. But today you let me down. I ordered a sesame bagel breakfast sandwich and I got poppy seed. The service was fast and efficient but it was pretty porch for what it was. I think I would have rather gone somewhere else for sure where they actually serve you and what not. If you are looking for something quick this is definitely the place, the only thing I would consider is the prices. The drinks were okay too. I came here for a quick lunch on New Years Day. There weren't many restaurants open, so I randomly decided on this spot. For a cafe in this area, there was a decent amount of seating, which I was happy to see. At first I was going to order some oatmeal, but they didn't have any available. Instead, we got Chicken Pesto Sandwiches. The chicken was cooked nicely and wasn't too chewy or overcooked. I wouldn't go out of my way for this spot, but considering they were open on the holiday, I'd say they're a fairly reliable spot! read more

The only good things about this place are the location and the bright dining area. Otherwise, snappy unpleasant service, no Wi-Fi, the chocolate croissant is a mostly hollow greasy pastry with a tiny bit of chocolate on one side, the egg and cheese brioche resembles a fast food burger bun, and the cappuccino leaves a lot to be desired. I was on my way to meeting and stumbled across this place just passing by. Very inviting from the outside and just as much inside. I had not had lunch yet, plus very little time. But not being a fast food person this seemed like the right place. The right place it was. :) Everything is fresh to order. I had the Classic Platter washing it down with a large Berry Madness Smoothie. Both were delicious and, again, fresh. The entire staff is very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is open and spacious and being on the corner you get to enjoy the madness of what is New York with people, bicyclists, cars and trucks all whizzing by. I highly recommend Cafe Aroma if you are in a hurry, want fast fresh food, not fast food, and are looking for simply a pleasant place to stop in, dine healthy and keep moving. read more

The Nutella waffles were delicious, but people in my group said their food wasn't great and not very warm. Would recommend the Nutella waffles or any pastries but the avocado toast had a runny egg and was very cold. read more

I had to catch the train at Amtrak to go out of town and had some time to kill. I had already eaten lunch and decided to have a snack before I arrived in Philadelphia. I had eaten here before and the selection of baked goods is extensive-sweet and savory. I got a cup of coffee and a blueberry stick-[which also comes in apple] both delicious. There is also an assortment of richer pastries as you walk further into the restaurant and well as beverages on the opposite wall. There is also a full coffee bar. One caveat-it is cheaper to pay with cash than credit. There is a surcharge for credit. Otherwise, the staff is most pleasant and the atmosphere is quiet. I would recommend and return. I've passed by here a few times and it looked really promising: a nice, large space with lots of tables and an open wall for good airflow, a sign promising organic coffee. I finally came one day last week, bought a large caramel nitro cold brew drink ($6+ including tax), asked for the wifi password, and set up shop, hoping to work from there for a few hours in the morning. The drink quickly separated out into a foam layer and a coffee layer, and was really not palatable at all, even when I was sort of able to mix the layers back together. I am no coffee expert, but to me the drink had a weird taste a bit reminiscent of gritty, unfiltered NYC tap water. It also was not sweet at all (to be fair, I did not specify how sweet I wanted it to be, but they also did not ask), even though there was supposedly some caramel in it. My main complaint is that I was unable to connect to the wifi at all, even though the password was correct (on phone or computer, and yes, I did do all the obvious things like turn my wifi off and back on, restart, etc.). The wifi must have been extremely weak or was down, but I didn't have the confrontational spirit or time to ask them to resolve it. Ended up having to leave only a little while after I sat down, defeated by first-world problems. Next time I would call ahead about the wifi and maybe try one of the pastries or food items, or try out a different coffee drink. They have a large menu and the space is quite nice; all they really need is some good wifi, and I'm sure the crowds will come a-flocking. read more
