Lots of bagels and other good food!
    Bridget M.

This place was so convenient during my first stay in NYC! It was across from my hotel and the service never took long. Everyone was friendly even during busy hours. I really enjoyed their bagel sandwiches and cannoli! The coffee was good. I mostly had the Americano but occasionally I tried a latte. There usually was seating depending on the time of day. I felt like it was a cozy cafe on the corner. Just wholesome vibes. Nothing crazy aesthetic but I'll forever remember it as my comfort cafe during my first time in NYC.

[November 2024] This was our first stop on our NYC day trip and boy was I famished. This powdered sugar and cinnamon-dusted waffle was absolute perfection and honestly didn't need any syrup, but my sweet tooth wouldn't allow me to not drizzle on just a little. __ I eat. @f.hux I thrift. @DCthriftish

I hat a cute picturesque little place in midtown. Perfectly & conveniently located on 9th. I came on a cold but sunny day and it was super busy even @1 in the afternoon. Sooooooo many choices! Thank goodness my hotel is nearby!

The service was fast and efficient but it was pretty porch for what it was. I think I would have rather gone somewhere else for sure where they actually serve you and what not. If you are looking for something quick this is definitely the place, the only thing I would consider is the prices. The drinks were okay too. Nothing too special but will get the job done if you are thirsty/ hungry. The place had okay seating. You sit wherever there is space so nothing too crazy or out of the ordinary for a cafe.

    Chicken Pesto Sandwich

I came here for a quick lunch on New Years Day. There weren't many restaurants open, so I randomly decided on this spot. For a cafe in this area, there was a decent amount of seating, which I was happy to see. At first I was going to order some oatmeal, but they didn't have any available. Instead, we got Chicken Pesto Sandwiches. The chicken was cooked nicely and wasn't too chewy or overcooked. I wouldn't go out of my way for this spot, but considering they were open on the holiday, I'd say they're a fairly reliable spot!

    Cannoli & cheesecake

Cannoli tasted a bit off for me, but the coffee was okay. Nice spot, just not my favorite.

Blueberry and Nutella pancakes hot coffee and vanilla latte

Banana Nutella and blueberry pancakes were good. Ordered the platter but was given pancakes only despite clearly asking for the platter. No effort to fix it--would've had to pay another $20 after spending $50. Latte was okay, hot coffee was great. Service is fast.

Really quick service. Grabbed a latte, croissant and a sandwich. They customize your sandwiches and it made my day. Will definitely be back.

BUT, my husband and I recently took a trip to Paris and I also love pain aux raisins. To our delight, Cafe Bilboquet has those too, so my friend and I each had a small coffee and a pain aux raisins. The pastry was as good as any that my husband and I had in Paris! I've also had lunch here with a couple of other friends in recent months. They have a good variety of pretty authentic French sandwiches and some quiches, eggs, etc. Not inexpensive, but the food is top-notch. You order at the counter, then move up to the cashier, tell them what your order is and pay for it. If you're lucky, as we were around 9:45 this morning, you'll get one of the little round tables where you can sit and chat and relax; in good weather there are some tables outside as well; a lovely boulangerie or patisserie experience!

Upon getting closer to the door, I learned it's part of Le Bilboquet restaurant on the same block. It wasn't too crowded when I visited on a Tuesday mid-afternoon. Every table except 1 was full, but most people were heading outside on such a beautiful day with their drinks and pastries. The cafe is very cute and French. They have so many pastries I couldn't decide, so I ordered a pain au chocolat and tea. They serve Harney & Sons teas. This is a lovely spot, and I'll return to try more.

We started with a bottle of the Alsace wine, which perfectly complemented our food and the Parisian vibe. I opted for the omelette with Gruyère which was delicious, although I found myself very full by the end, as it came with two sides. The fries were a must-have -- so crispy, salty & fresh. I'd recommend that at least one person at the table order them, but the portion is pretty generous. :) The service was nice, albeit a bit slow at times. However, the staff was friendly and the overall atmosphere is chill -- we weren't in a rush at all! I always get almond croissants from coffee shops but wow this one has to be one of my favorites. The crunchy (sugar?) top coating and the filling were delectable. I got one of the seasonal spring drinks, called "Karl" which is a banana cold brew with cold foam. I don't even like cold brews since they tend to be super strong and pretty bitter, and banana can be a hit or miss, but I enjoyed the hell out of this drink. It was a bit sweet, which I like, and the cold brew itself had a banana flavor when I had just expected it to come from the cold foam. I didn't sit or stay inside as I had to go to work, but there are a few (maybe 5 I think?) chairs along a bar counter on the side. Plants in the window too which I love. The barista was nice and made the drinks quickly despite being there by herself early in the morning (or at least I didn't see another employee). I recommended this place to my coworkers and can't wait to go back and try the other drink options!

Theres a shared bar table along one wall with high top chairs and menu options at the counter + a chalkboard with seasonal drinks. I left with a Balthazar Bakery box with 4 items. The 2 Everything pastries were filled with what looked like spinach and cheese. Incredible when reheated, but I wish they were served warm. The cinnamon roll was good, but not standout. The pain au chocolat was tender and flaky. Some of the seasonal drinks, like the Grinch, looked really good and I'd come back to try one, but I likely wouldn't swing for a pastry this time.
