If you want one of the worst bagels in New York City, this is your place. Why not top it with "lox spread" which is 99.5% cream cheese and .5% lox. I want so much to like this place because it is so attractive and close to my office. But visit after visit, the disappointments pile on like mounds of tasteless pasta salads. Fruit salad is nowhere near ripe, mostly melon and overpriced. Putting a strawberry slice on top isn't fooling anyone! The cans and bottles of beverages look like the failed brands hall of fame. Luckily, they have Coke and Diet Coke. In fairness, some of the baked goods are very good; like the coffee cake. But in general, this is a convenient, beautifully designed disaster. read more

Got a cranberry muffin here a while back, and of course, it had walnuts. No note on the display that it had walnuts. I started having an allergic reaction and told the manager that they should include a note on the display. He responded by pointing the finger to me and saying, "You should have asked." I got the bacon egg and cheese bagel. The portion was on the smaller side and it was a little more pricey than what I would expect. Bagel didn't have a lot of bacon and the egg wasn't seasoned at all. Overall a decent bagel, I want to try the bagel with a hash brown in it next time. read more

I love you, Cafe Aroma, but why can't I enjoy my coffee while waiting for my breakfast order to be prepared? We have come twice on our visit here and the model has been the same: when your order is ready, then we'll prepare your coffee. The second time I made the mistake of ordering a latte, which was ready halfway though my bagel. Food is fresh and good, but I'm not sure I'd recommend coming here on a busy morning if you want to eat inside. read more

This place is a great hidden gem if you need a quick breakfast or lunch option while heading to Javitz Center. I had a bagel and cream cheese every day for four days straight. Each time absolutely delicious. My favorite option was the plain with lox cream cheese. The drip coffee was hot and tasty. Love that they add the milk and sugar behind the counter. The food is delicious although the staff not so much. From the moment I walked in I wasn't greeted... and then the guy got my order wrong. I talked to a woman about the different coffees until she was pulled away from helping me and a guy takes over who was very abrupt with me and gave me a sigh when I asked if he was using almond milk & made a snide comment. I asked if they had syrup and was told they didn't, so I spent 10 minutes stirring sugar into a cold drink that wouldn't melt. You'd think they have syrup OR wouldn't lie about it simply to rush you. This cafe is my go-to place for many reasons. First off, the coffee is always on point - never watered down or over-brewed. Also, the sandwiches all taste amazing, especially the chicken pesto mozz and the ham & cheese croissant. As an added bonus, I come here to study sometimes bc it's never over-crowded, there's ac, it's incredibly clean, and the view outside the window is amazing. Most importantly, Jay and Lorena go above and beyond to make their customers feel welcome. No matter what day, they always attentively greet customers with a big smile. Staff is super friendly and efficient - will know your name after 2 days as well. Breakfast and desserts are divine but the nitro coffee is everything! But I was really disappointed with the taste of the croissant sandwich-the croissant was very oily, portions was small for a $10 sandwich. Mocha coffee doesn't taste a thing-very diluted and again not worth the price when there's a lot more options around. The servers are not too friendly either-so there's really nothing to like. Tourist trap. Paid $10.25 for a mediocre ham and cheese croissant. I'm from the area, I'm familiar with NYC prices and this is definitely a HIGHLY OVERPRICED sandwich.
