The coffee gets 5 stars but sadly was disappointed with my meal- ordered a Denver omelette- I felt my eggs were over cooked- I don't care for my omelette to have brown cooked parts- maybe that's just my preference but it ruined it for me; the green peppers were cut inconsistently and some were just too big and then to top it off on top was a what appeared to me to be a kraft cheese slice square which made it look unappetizing. Potatoes were tasty but my toast was stone cold. Place has good reputation and is popular- might've been just a bad day when I went. Small restaurant- about 10 tables inside but a few set up outside. Met a friend for breakfast. Was there at 9 on a Monday and no wait. When we left at 10.30, there were quite a few people. Must be crazy on a weekend. It is a small place and not many tables. I ordered the omelet with jalapeños and onions. Tasty!! Tip: if you like your omelets a little soft, tell the server. This was well cooked. I like mine soft and will remember to tell the server the next time. The standout was the coffee. Loved it!! Would come back just for the cafe de olla coffee. Thank you Yelp for this added feature of reservations/putting your name on the list prior to arriving. Saved 30 mins Parking is on the street and may need to do a few laps to find parking. Restaurant is cute and very tiny. I checked in with the hostess and seated immediately at a table for 6. I told her it was only 2 but that was reserved for us. Ok, thanks :) I was handed the menu and took my drink orders right away. I wanted to try the house cafe de olla special. I normally take my coffee with cream & sugar. Not this time, it was perfect no need to add anything. Yum it has cinnamon and some other mystery goodness. Looking for breakfast brunch always like to try new places. I checked the menu to ensure there was the all american breakfast for the hubby or the day just isn't the same. (Check) I read the reviews of chilaquiles poblanos and I knew I had to try it. We ordered our food and within 10mins it came out. We also got an extra order of pancakes by mistake. Chilaquiles poblanos was delish plate covered with cheese, not sure about the rice since it's normally something I would add to my chilaquiles. Good flavor and spicy salsa. Great food , had the del Norte plate very good large portions. Tried the cafe de bote iced great cinnamon flavor. The French toast is amazing! Everything tastes authentic Mexican made. No cutting corners. A little more seasoning could of been used on the steak but we're still good, meat was good quality not chewy. Eggs were really nice sunny side up! Only reason for 4 star is because one of the waiters had no server etiquette. Reaching over people plates to set things down without saying excuse me or asking if it was okay. We did not have him he was serving the table next to us. It's pretty busy here had to wait a little over a hour in line to get in on Saturday afternoon around 2pm. I recommend anyone seeing this to come here! The food is good and the coffee (cafe de olla) is delicious! I ordered the Del Norte (steak, chilaquiles, and beans) and my boyfriend ordered La Azteca (chilaquiles beans and eggs). We also ordered the Nutella pancakes (yummmm!). The steak was tasty and the chilaquiles were good. We just wish they were spicy! It sort of felt like we were eating mild enchiladas instead of chilaquiles. We asked our server if they had chile (real chile, not cholula tapatio or Tabasco) and he brought us some that made a big difference. Again, that's a personal preference of ours. We will be back, but will definitely bring our spicy chile de la casa! read more

The food was great. Truly felt like home. We had the Soyriso wrap and buttermilk pancakes iced coffee and hot coffee. Downside: Parking is terrible, make sure to read street signs. Waiting in line for your table is no fun. Please use their yelp to save your place in line and your table prior to visiting, especially if this is your first time. We were sat outside and someone decided to leave their car running next to our table. We asked to be reseated inside and the host was very kind. The food did not take long. The coffee lived up to its expectations. However, my mom had hers deluded with regular coffee because she said the house coffee was too sweet. The staff was really kind about it. Its Sunday and needless to say we had a VERY long wait time but well deserved. My mom was not kidding. She told me she watched some documentary on the news and Cafe de Olla was on deck for highlight brunch spot of the week; hours later we are outside waiting for our names to be called. The place is SUPER small! I'm going to say perhaps 7 tables inside? and 2 outside. The staff is not too many but just enough as strong waiters/waitresses manage to make it work. We ordered typical mexican breakfast dishes and they did not disappoint. Reasonable prices with reasonable portions. My mom ordered an extra side of pancakes and that was just a plus. What a mix huh Then of course you have the coffee aka Cafe de Olla. Magnificent crisp sweet taste. No sugar needed. I enjoyed it so much and ordered an Iced version of it. Loved the signage outside. About 30 minutes before closing. Food was cold. Carne Asada overcooked. Carne Asada wasn't even Ranchera meat. The chicken in the tacos was bland. Tostadas disappointing as well. I am honestly more disappointed with the food than the poor service. They forgot to give me the tortillas I paid for. Inexcusable. Not worth money or the trip. I want to be honest in writing this review. This is my second time here. The first time; I had a bad experience (this was before COVID), but we decided to give this place another try. The first time, although we made a reservation by Yelp we waited 2 hours to be seated. The food took one hour to be served and they brought it to us cold. And it was not tasty. The seating inside was so crowded. It felt claustrophobic. You can surely bump elbows with the perdon next or behind you. That day we ordered the chilaquiles with green salsa, huevos rancheros, pancakes and banana French toast. And we also got the cold and hot cafe de olla. That day the only thing we enjoyed was the coffee. Probably because we got it while we waited to be seated. The staff was not attentive and seemed stressed. And noticed a lot of people complaining about the wait time. It wasn't organized. Today, it was much better. We reserved our seats for 4 people on Yelp. We arrived at around 8:30a.m. or so. We were seated as soon as we got there. The food still took about 45 minutes or so to be served, but this time, it was worth the wait. We ordered the huevos divorciados (eggs with half red sauce & half green sauce with rice and beans), chilaquiles divorciados (tortillas sauce half red and half green with rice, beans and avocado), huevos con chorizo (with rice, beans and flour tortillas) and omelet de la casa (with chilaquiles poblano). Let me tell you this time the food was warm/hot, authentic, flavorable, and so tasteful. And we got lots and lots of cafe de olla. We loved it so much we ordered the banana pancakes and berry French toast to go for our young adult kids at home. They had the our to go food ready by the time we were ready to leave. Our young adult kids couldn't believe the taste, they said "this is the bomb!" The staff was welcoming and attentive. The rice and beans were so delicious and the green and red sauces on eat dish was so flavorable and authentic. I cook homemade food at home so I do know the difference between can food and authentic. This was definitely authentic. This time the food exceeded my expectations. I am glad we gave this place another try. It may look like your average neighborhood Mexican joint, but this Cafe De Olla restaurant is anything but!This place is perfect for groups or a casual date night.
