I have been excited to try this spot for years since going vegan in 2019. GF pizza was divine, couldn't tell that it wasn't wheat crust. The mushroom "chicken" sandwich was recommended by our server. I loved the combo and texture but it was super dry -- missing out on spices and sauce, I couldn't get through the whole thing. The baked goods are all GF and delicious -- but not inexpensive. We ordered a $12 key lime pie square which was decadent, I liked the nut crust but my partner didn't at all and ate around it. I ordered a warmed walnut chocolate chip cookie. The cookie was beyond warm and came out burned, so I regret to report that I flagged down a manager and sent back food for the first time in years. The replacement (shown) was divine and made up for it entirely, but I didn't get to have it with coffee as planned. Hopefully that oversight was corrected so no more sweets go to waste. Another downside was that it was freezing in the shade! We saw other tables had blankets but we couldn't get attention of a server/host to grab one. Definitely sit inside if you can, brr! Experience here was more like a 3.5 but the mission is good and was worth the hype, so they can have the extra points. read more

I'm writing this review 2 days after dining at cafe gratitude, so I forgot the official names of what we ordered, sorry. I brought my mom and sister here (non-vegans) mainly because the menu here has so many options. There is something yummy for everyone. We dined on Saturday around 12:30 pm and we were offered both the brunch and the lunch menu. I've been coming here since they opened and the consistency and quality has not changed, which I feel says a lot about a restaurant. It's a very eclectic atmosphere, and it is quite loud inside, lots of people chatting on top of chill vibes music. Adolpho was our wait-person and he had many tables but made sure to check-in on us. I have been going to Cafe Gratitude since it came to the neighborhood. It's still amazing to see folks working there since the beginning, really shows how they must treat their staff. And after all these years, the food is still yummy. Now you're probably wondering why 3 stars? What I am seeing out in the restaurant world since covid is bad to lack of service and auto gratuity. This auto gratuity is becoming extremely off putting. Cafe Gratitude like many other restaurants, had full service dining experience prior to covid. And for me, this was my go to place. Post covid doomsday lockdown, this has all changed. You are shown your table, you scan for the menu, (there is no one to walk you through the menu, especially if you are new and have questions), you order on the app and pay as well. The default on the app is set to a minimum of 18%. What I didn't see was a small area that you could custom tip. And this is where the 3 stars comes in. As a past person who worked in the restaurant business, your tips is something you worked for. That meant building relationships with your customers, new and returning loyal base. It appears that is all gone. You have a person who just busses the table...that's it. So why would a restaurant expect the customer to pay 18, 20, 25% tip? This type of model is like take out. And it seems like Cafe Gratitude prefers this model, and since I don't, you will definitely loose me as your loyal customer for over 10 years. I work hard and want to feel appreciated and engage with those around. If this is the new norm, to me this is a sad day. read more

Cannot say enough good things about the Mocha Cheesecake! Yes it was that good that I had to start my review with that. Its the best cheesecake we have had. The mocha flavor was absolutely heavenly, the crust also seemed to have crushed expresso beans in it. Its a cute little place, they have a lot of space outdoors and indoors. It was on our list for the longest time and this will definitely be one of our regulars now. We tried the Chef's Flatbread Pizza, Margarita and it was really good. I think the tomatoes and the acidity was just a tad much but I loved the crust and the vegan cheese was the star of the dish. It really brought everything together. We also tried the black bean burger and I truly liked the patty , I did feel the burger was a bit dry. It needed a little bit of more sauce for it to come together. I think pickles in the burger really added to the flavor. I had heard really good things about their Tiramisu but I was told it's a seasonal thing and they only have it during the holidays unfortunately. Glad we tried the mocha cheesecake since that was delicious. For the deserts, I would give this place five stars. Hope to come back here and try other things on the menu. read more

Came here with a friend who wanted vegan food. I can kinda take it or leave it, as long as I know I got some ham or bacon waiting for me when I get back home. But I have to say the meal here was pretty fantastic. First, the service was kind but not at all overbearing. Real plus. The meals have, well, titles. And they're all affirmations. It's kinda nice. My conversation went like "I think I'll have the 'I am Hearty'. 'Of course. You are Hearty'. I wasn't sure what I heard basically being deaf in one ear. But my friend confirmed what I thought she said, and then she did the same thing to him when he ordered. No affirmations next to the alcoholic drinks, I noticed. But probably just as well. The tofu scramble I got was seriously good. Came with a couple slices of tasty bread, some cherry compote I think, and some smashed potatoes. I really liked it. While stumbling upon restaurants seldomly occurs for us, this was one seriously fortuitous occurrence after glancing at the huge (and not-so-COVID-friendly) crowd gathered outside The Rose. Cafe Gratitude's outdoor patio was one of the most comfortable I've dined in, replete with very well spaced apart tables and heat lamps adjacent to nearly every one to keep customers toasty. Ordering was a breeze using the Toast-powered online system and though our wait was somewhat lengthy at ~30 min, it was well worth it. Happy (Spicy Korean Pulled Mushroom Sandwich) An absolute explosion of robust savoriness & sweetness that quite frankly outdid a majority of Korean dishes I've had! The signature mushroom "chew" was elevated nicely by the coleslaw and who knew vegan brioche could be so pillowy soft? Our side of roasted garnet yams was also perfectly cooked and worth the extra cost. Margherita Giving (Chef's Flatbread Pizza) Delightful creaminess from the nut-based cheese substitutes, loads of bright acidity and an excellent crust made this nearly as satisfying as many of the best pies we've eaten. While Cafe Gratitude is offering patio dining during the pandemic, my family opted for the safety of our backyard and decided to order our breakfast to-go. We ordered everything over the phone and then I stopped by to pick up our items. The order was ready in a timely manner, except for the coffee drinks which took a minute to make when I arrived (( didn't mind waiting for freshness.) Social distancing was practiced and encouraged, as was wearing masks. I have to say their breakfast items taste way better than their dinner items. To be honest, I had been to the Cafe Gratitude in Larchmont a few years ago for dinner and found their dishes absoultely tasteless and pretty boring. Vegan cuisine has come a long way since then and it shows in the flavors at Cafe Gratitude. The cinnamon roll was absolutely outstanding, and everyone was really happy with their breakfast wraps. A great entirely vegan restaurant in Venice! The menu is pretty diverse with pizza, bowls, enchiladas, salads, etc. We tried the butternut squash pasta and enchiladas which were both pretty good. I don't find new vegan places that I love this much. I got the crunchwrap (yo soy fuerte :)) and it was SO yummy. Who needs taco bell. I love hard kombucha and of course they've got Juneshine on tap. This place used to be great. I ate here three or more times a week and even worked here while in grad school. Then they sold out to a corporate entity and it's never been quite the same. They completely shut their doors during Covid, a time when people needed salaries and healthy food. They didn't even pay their workers. For that I decided not to go for a long time so today's my first day back since March 10th 2020. Sadly, the once beautiful bowls of hearty portions of warm food for $15 are now small plates of food for $20. It's a regular plate of food that I can easily make it home myself. There's nothing special about Cafe Gratitude anymore. Not even the vibe! The young woman at the bar who waited on me was amazing! The doors and windows are all open so with that type of cold ocean breeze blowing through while I was trying to eat I had to hold my napkin down with a knife. I love Cafe Gratitude! This location has lots of outdoor seating and a pretty, bright, and airy dining room. The brunch menu has a wide range of options and both the savory and sweet options are great. Strongly recommend the "I Am Hearty" tofu scramble and honestly anything with the cashew whipped cream because it's so delicious. The housemade pressed juices are tasty and are very fresh, I prefer them to other places (much better than Butcher's Daughter). Their coffee menu is good as well, we really enjoyed our iced americano. Parking can be easily found in the side streets and the hostess and servers were friendly and helpful! This CG made me feel more comfortable because of Covid, we had to order through the toast app so I didn't have to say "I am..." lol. The service was decent and food was good.
