Amazing food here as always and a friendly staff with impressive energy. The food here is always delightful. The I am humble is a favorite but you can't go wrong with any dish based on your mood. I have been here over 10 times and have not once been disappointed in anyway at all really, quite surprising as I do critique small things. This round I had the I am humble, I am grateful, and I am bountiful. Every dish was tasty, the I am grateful is a cheaper entree and extremely delicious, and part of the proceeds are donated to an organization focused on sustainability. The I am bountiful was my least favorite by far but still good. And the I am humble is always a good safe option. No complaints at all here and can't foresee any in the future. It wasn't the food, but the service. The waitress that I had rarely checked in to see how my friend and I were doing. She was doing the bare minimum. I also noticed one of the workers there continued looking at us while we' were just trying enjoy our dinner. I doubt I'll come back or refer anyone. Huge menu! I sadly missed breakfast by 2 minutes. Had a pasta dish that I'm blanking on and the seasonal persimmon salad. The salad was beautiful and good. The pasta was over cooked and mediocre. The 'I am Marvelous' (mocha latte with cacao & raw honey) was my favorite part! I would give this place another chance because I feel like I ordered wrong -- partially looking at the ordering structure for this. I am not a fan of ordering my food through an app while dining in. Was my first time here and it was very good. I'm not a vegan but enjoyed all that they had to offer. I got the Banana bread and the I AM COZY tea. The banana bread was amazing, wouldn't know that it's gluten free if you didn't read that it was. Very moist and had slices of banana baked into the top. I love teas and this didn't disappoint, very refreshing with the lemon and raw honey and has a nice kick from the ginger and cayenne. If you don't like vegan food, try Cafe Gratitude! It may very much change your mind! The flavors of a lot of dishes are absolutely great! And there is a variety of items on the menu to choose from. The place is quite large, with both indoor and outdoor seating. Service is generally very good, making it a great spot for casual dining and your daily delicious vegetable intake. The one thing I'd like this place to offer is more dishes that do not contain soy. As of now, most dishes have some form of tofu or tempeh (both made of soy unfortunately). Frankly, every dish I've tried at this place has been amazing! One note on desserts: the strawberry shortcake (served in a mason jar) is incredible! It's moist, creamy, has great flavors and cake texture. Highly recommend! Tiramisu does not taste anything like tiramisu, although it's a very good and healthier dessert by itself. Just don't expect it to be anything like tiramisu in flavors. Key lime / avocado cake wasn't good in my opinion, the flavor came off too artificial. Their muffins aren't sweet either and remind me more of fruit bread than muffins. Overall, really great delicious food, and a must try!! read more

This was my second time at Gratitude and it was great. Our daughter is allergic to treenuts so we have to be careful where we eat. Andro our server was super patient, he brought a book with all the ingredients listed of every dish, at the beginning I was overwhelmed to see all of that information, he was so kind and stayed with us checking a couple of dishes and choosing the right one for my daughter. Overpriced and not always that consistent in flavor and spices. Some foods are bland and under seasoned while others are too much. For example, the smoked tofu is really strong. With regards to what is good; the black bean burger and fries are tasty. Fried Cauliflower is good but you have to ask that it be cooked longer than usual if you like it crispy. Also, I know the names of the dishes are supposed to be endearing, but it doesn't give you a lasting memory of what's in the food and when you order at your table the servers insist that you say "I am" before the name of the dish you are ordering and I'm just not so into that. read more

I AM UNDERWHELMED. So many times I've gone to Cafe Gratitude hoping I'll like it better, and every time I leave with renewed disappointment. They changed up their happy hour menu so we met some friends there to try it. I will say, the wines are excellent. I tried both the white and the red and liked them both. Wound up ordering the white and really enjoyed it. We shared: Shishito peppers - okay but not super interesting Loaded Nacho Fries - Yikes, these were not good. The fries were soggy, and overall it was just kind of bland. There was also zero nacho flavor Burrata - This looked really impressive when it arrived at the table with grilled bread, but I tasted zero cheese. It was basically like spooning marinara sauce onto bread. It wasn't terrible, but there was nothing burrata-like or even remotely cheese-like about it. I just think that with all the Matthew Kenney vegan spots in town now (Sestina, Double Zero), Gratitude needs to up its game. Vegan food can be so much better than this. read more

I've probably been to Café Gratitude 20 times because every time I visit LA or SD I have to come at least once. It's a bummer they aren't in NYC because they would do so well and I could come here every week! You cannot go wrong with their mushroom carnitas... Try the crunch wrap, burrito, nachos, or chilaquiles! Their salads and bowls are also delightful. Everything is so fresh and flavorful. I absolutely love that I can come here and get a clean, healthy meal or an indulgent vegan meal. This is a great spot for vegans and non-vegans alike! We drove quite a distance to eat here, not knowing that they had a filming event so we ended up ordering out and eating in the parking garage. It was so dissappointing because we called before arriving and no one told us of this event. The food was NOT the same. We've eaten here many times but recently the quality is poor and the prices are extreme. Its sad to see a once vibrant eating establishment drop their quality of service. I have had mixed experiences here. Sometimes I come and the staff are really friendly and sometimes the aren't. It's very weird how hot and cold this place can be. They push this "gratitude" and "be kind" stuff as their theme but sometimes the staff really does not create that atmosphere. And to be honest - without that - it's just another over-priced restaurant. So anyway - if you work here and you're reading this - maybe train or talk to a manager about training your employees on how to create the atmosphere you are advertising. Today I placed a pick up order for lunch and the cashier I dealt with acted like I was a chore, made a mistake which he blamed on me - and without talking to me he got someone else over and she asked about the mistake and I said "I have no clue what he's talking about" - because he walked away in an irritated huff. After looking closer she realizes he just didn't read it right and there actually was no problem. So, I pay for my food and I admit I did not leave a tip (it was a pickup order of one thing) and they were a little snooty. Well, she completely ignores me - does not say thank you when I pay - and ushers the next guests over before I can even retrieve my credit card. For our beverages, we ordered the Vibrant (Matcha Latté with raw honey) and the Stellar (Blue Spirulina Superherb Smoothie [ashwaganda, pine pollen, reishi, cordyceps, coconut, almond butter, dates, vanilla bean]). Man! Shoutout to my man Marcus for holding it down and showing us superb service. 5 stars because of HIM!! He really helped us order an incredible meal and walk out of here with a heart filled with good food, replenished and delicious meal. His service was better than anyone I've ever had serve us at this location specific. He knew the menu like the back of his hand, he prepped the drinks for us himself when the bar was slammed. He even went out of his way to recommend an appetizer we didn't think we would like initially. Turned out to be our favorite meal of the evening. This dude deserves not just a raise but more so a position in management. Last year we got take out. Then yesterday we finally came back to eat on the patio. The service was wonderful. I ambiance was nice. You need a code to use the restrooms. I really wanted the sangria but they use beets in it. I then wanted a specific bowl but it also had beets and the server said that beets were a main part of that dish so it wasn't the best idea to remove it. Beets are the only plant food I don't like. So I got some red wine instead. My partner had two beers that he liked. We shared the buffalo cauliflower wings as an appetizer and that was the highlight of our meal. He got the Crunchwrap (fuerte) that was very tasty. Tasted a lot like Taco Bell. I had the macrobiotic bowl (whole) which was something I wouldn't normally choose but I was having a hard time and decided to try something different. It wasn't my favorite meal of all time but it was tasty and felt healthy once I mixed everything up together. I'm glad I tried something new. Then we had dessert. The baked walnut chocolate cookie tasted liked coconut and heavy on the walnut side. The chocolate part was good. The pistachio ice cream didn't taste very pistachio flavored. It tasted like coconut flavor. The raw tiramisu was impressive in that it really had the tiramisu flavor and it was wonderful the next day as well. No real complaints just nick picking things. I will visit this restaurant again and try some other menu items. I highly enjoy plant-based establishments that don't use fake meat alternatives. read more

The service was okay but one of the waiters spilled a bit of my friend's hot drink and didn't wipe down the cup or even apologize, so that was a little off-putting. Otherwise, it was a lovely dining experience. I like how the name of everything on the menu is an affirmation. That's very unique and gives the cafe a bit of its own personality. First time at Cafe Gratitude. I'm not vegan nor vegetarian but I gave it a try. The ambiance of the restaurant is really nice and the decor and colors make it very welcoming. Our server Michael was great! He explained the menu to us as newbies and he answered all of our questions with a smile always. He was also very attentive to anything needed. For starters we got the "Eclectic- Buffalo Cauliflower" basically cauliflower covered in buffalo sauce. The flavor was good. I would've liked it a little more crispy but the "ranch" made up for it. I don't eat ranch in general but this one was pretty good. For our entrees we got the "Bountiful- Sicilian Almond Pesto Pasta" it was DELICIOUS! I highly recommend it. The flavors of the pesto, with the cherry tomatoes, green beans etc made a wonderful tasteful mix. You won't be disappointed. We also go the Marguerrite Pizza. Wow! I loved it! The crunchiness of the crust, the mix of the vegetables was amazing. I really enjoyed it. Compared to Urths pizza which is almost similar- Cafe Gratitude's pizza is much more better. Drinks: Lemonade and Coffee I got the Latte Almond Coffee. Quite frankly I don't like almond milk and I probably would have enjoyed the coffee if it were just to be black. But if you like almond milk then you'd probably enjoy it. The lemonade was delicious and refreshing. A little too sweet for me but good. Overall my experience was good. The area of the restaurant is nice. You can park in the parking structure behind the restaurant and get your parking ticket validated from the Cafe Gratitude. This is hands down one of the best vegan restaurants I have been to in the US. Their menu was very well designed and the food was fantastic. Service was very quick and attentive. I had ordered a latte and requested for it to be extra-hot and when it came it wasn't as hot as I expected. My server immediately went back and got me one more cup just the way I like it. Thank you so much ! I ordered a vegan quiche, and a tofu scramble wrap and a smoothie. I was full to the brim but didn't feel heavy or bloated.
