Never disappoints so much to choose from ! My fiancé isn't vegan and it's his #1 spot to go to everytime

AMAZING!!! Came here for dinner with 3 of my friends and was blown away. I'm not vegan and usually am not very impressed by vegan food but this was soooo yummy. I also love that you order by saying "I am _". The setting is super nice we sat on outside and they had plenty of heat lamps to keep us warm. To start I had the Worthy juice. Which was really tasty. Then for the main meal I had the Brilliant which is the Creamy Puttanesca Pasta!! I was a little unsure when ordering it but was so happy with my decision. My 2 friends who are vegan got the Humble (Indian curry bowl) and Awesome (eggplant focaccia Sandwich). They also loved their meal. We didn't get any dessert cause we were are super full but I'm sure the dessert are great as well!! I will definitely be coming back here again, even though I'm not vegan. I used to frequent Cafe Gratitude quite often when I lived in Los Angeles. I tried various things throughout the years & have landed on my favorite dish here -- the Terrific (Raw Pad Thai Kelp Noodles-- thai almond sauce, carrots, red bell pepper, kale, toasted almonds, sprouts)! The flavors are fantastic and I feel like I'm getting a light refreshing meal. Note that while the MICRONUTRIENTS are probably off the charts on this dish, the macronutrients are not (22g of fat, 35g of carbs and only 12g of protein) AND it's a salt bomb (1,220 mg of sodium, whew) but you know, what? It's tasty AF. So, that's what I ordered here! It was my first time at this location & it has the same airy, bright ambience as other CG's. Based on memory, I feel like this has the largest bar (at least versus the Arts District one). Because it was quite busy, I'm glad a solo diner like myself could just perch up on the bar & grab a quick meal. Service was also fantastic. I was running out of juice on my iPhone & they kindly let me charge my phone with the chargers (thinking they use iPads which is why they had it available). I don't normally write Yelp reviews but thought it could be a fun writing exercise. So my partner of four years and I originally had plans last night, but his Dungeons & Dragons with his boys got moved so I suddenly had an evening to myself. Also I'm on a serious new health regimen called slowing the fuck down, pardon my French, lent. So I take a long bath and think about how I want to spend my evening. I haven't eaten out in a while, so I decide on a date night for one. I put on a cute outfit and I'm loving my freshly washed hair so I decide to go propose to the guy who cut my hair several weeks ago for the first time, and ask him to be my longterm hair guy. He wasn't there so I just made an appointment. I had ideas to head over to Rose Cafe because I've never been in the 2+ years I've lived here in Venice, but instead decide for something more familiar and neighborhood. I head to Cafe Gratitude just a couple doors down from the salon. If you don't know Cafe Gratitude, there are a few locations in LA and they are a vegetarian/vegan joint. I come here sporadically with Gary or other friends and brought Mom when she was last visiting. The first time I went to a Cafe Gratitude was not this location years ago and on a first date. Admittedly, I felt awkward then that the menu items all had inspirational names and we were encouraged to say "I am..." and then the menu item to order. It was too LA for me. Well today was different. I was feeling cute and tossing my hair as I get out from the rare LA drizzle. I ask for a seat for one and the friendly host (manager vibe) tells me no tables available immediately, but any open seat at the counter is free for the choosing. I pick the one on the far end furthest from the front door. There is literally an in-my-face piece of marketing for Restaurant Week in front of me, but that was my choosing so that's on me. That's not where I knocked off a star on the rating. To be honest, I'd only knock half a star off and for these reasons: the light shades could use some dusting, my entree came a little early, and getting attention was a little challenging, but that wasn't all on them either as you will see how this story progresses. Today we are taking our time to enjoy and celebrate life, so we look to the positive. I order my meal. I am Pure and Dedicated. First of all, my server Tati was sweet and adorable, and she noticed right away when my half Pure kale salad was missing the kimchi. She had my back even before that with recommending the boochcraft kombucha. My Dedicated mushroom/baby bok choy/grain dish made me feel proud to be soooo LA right now, as it was just what the doctor ordered. I decided I was alone tonight but I wasn't going to be ashamed by it, so took it to the extreme (for me) and took photos of my food (I mean, I was writing a review, right?) and returned texts and emails, etc. Kind of obnoxious but this was my time. While enjoying my meaty mushrooms, Dancing Queen comes on over the sound system. While old Richard would hesitate, new Richard channels his best romcom spirit and wildly calls his best friend, a mother of three at 8:30 p.m. to tell her Dancing Queen just came on. And we start an incredible phone convo/now dinner date for two, full of synergy and I am living my best life. And because I've taken romcom actions, more romcom actions ensue. The world literally couldn't handle this epic call as it ends with a sudden power outage. The generator doesn't kick in but it's kind of romantic and I'm now forced to unplug, slow even further down. I finish my meal slowly, every last bite, by candlelight while I watch the staff tackle blackout tasks. The lights don't come back up so I decide to help the best way I know how, order their ice cream before it melts. I ask the handsome waiter with the smile what it's called and he and Tati answer "Praising." I say, "like Praise the Lord?" and they smile politely at whatever the hell I was doing. At the end of the night, Tati comes back with a handwritten bill and a carbon copy credit card slip she's baffled by. I assure her I retailed in the 90s and was quite familiar. I say good bye like I'll be coming back again, because I probably will. I walk briskly into the rain and head home to a dark apartment. The dogs are confused but they quickly settle. The lights won't come back up until 5:20 a.m. the next morning when I am still half awake thinking about everything Jenny and I talked about and all the incredibly warm messages I had received today. I am reminded that I am on the right path. read more

Best brunch!!!! We've been wanting to try this out, but we live in the AV. Hadcto drop my dad at the airport and stopped in forbrunch. We left feeling fabulously full (didn't stop us from ordering dessert to go ). My husband had the Nourish (breakfast wrap) with Smashed potatoes, I had Content (quiche) and we shared a I Am Honest (maple pumpkin coffee cake). Everything was beyond delicious and the service was very friendly and professional. Grabbed a key lime pie and apple cake to go, can't wait to try them. I ordered from Cafe Gratitude through Uber Eats this evening. The food was ready very quickly which was nice- but I would not recommend the food. All of the toppings on the nachos were pretty good but the chips were so soggy. I used my own tortilla chips I had on hand. I also got the cinnamon roll- they didn't really hit the nail on the head. The cinnamon was less sweet and comforting and more of a Red Hots candy flavor. Meh. And the kids macaroni and cheese with (cashew) cheddar was not good at all. I ate all of the food because you already know the bill was huge through Uber Eats. I don't normally splurge but I'm on leave from work- asymptomatic with COVID. The hostess was really unfriendly, but my server (I believe her name was Jen) was really nice and made up for it. I got the Grace smoothie which was delicious and filling. I probably should have just stopped there. I also got the Mexican Bowl and it was good but both items were definitely things I could have made at home. I ordered a blend of quinoa and brown rice in my bowl but was served only brown rice. It's really expensive for what they give you; they must be making like 85% profit. I really dig that it's all vegan, but there's too much hype around this place. I plan on coming back, though, in hopes that maybe this first visit was a fluke. read more

Looking for a healthier option and being familiar with the other locations,I brought my parents and uncle (who is here from out of town) to this place for a nice, delicious, tasty meal. Sometimes it is a gamble if others will like what you do and now it is Vegan. But, good news, everyone is still raving about it. My dad even asked the server when they would open up one near where he lives. The service was great and our waiter was very knowledgeable and able to answer all questions. The food is served so nicely in dishes that say "What are you grateful for?" and it truly makes you stop and think and eat just a little slower. Portions here are of perfect size. I think we all had different dishes and yet everyone enjoyed their food. The only down side is the seating. Even though it was a Tuesday and we didn't have reservations, I felt they could have seated us at a better table. We had to sit at the community table which is a long wooden table with short wooden barstool seats although we were the only ones there. We were told they were fully booked and this was the only place they could fit us in so we took it. But, throughout out time there, we always saw several open tables which would have been a lot more accommodating and comfortable to our party. [I am not lowering the rating because we just popped in and trusted what they said, however it would have been nice to be offered to move if a table had become available]. I really like the food at Cafe gratitude. I've been to a few of their spots and they're pretty consistent. On our last visit, I ordered the Fantastic salad which was incredible. Jared wanted a bibimbap bowl which they have removed from the menu so he went with the Indian inspired one instead, humble, but it was so disappointing. Mealy and underwhelming. I recommend the Mexican one, mucho. We shared a nachos which was very good, but I like the buffalo cauliflower better. Service is great. Ambiance is good. So why 3 stars? The affirmation part of it is soooo fucking annoying. Is it just me? Especially when they get it wrong, which has happened a few times at different locations now. We ordered the nachos, but something else came out. Why? Because we said nachos instead of the I AM name. Get a grip which your cheesy I AM FULL OF MYSELF BULLSHIT and learn the damn menu. Wonderful service, attractive location and good coffee. I ordered the bbq tempeh stirfry, a vegetable rich dish. It tasted like a watered down bottle of saccharine sweet barbecue sauce. If you like sugary-loaded dishes that cover up all other flavors, this may suit you. I found it pretty disturbing and overpriced. For a cup of coffee, the above dish and a 20% tip, I spent $25. Uggh. Really bad value proposition from a food and cost perspective. But as noted, it is an attractive enough setting with generous room between tables. My server was attentive and quick. read more

I came at 8:30 on a Thursday. We found parking pretty easily a block away and noticed they validate parking in the adjacent structure for 90 minutes, pretty convenient. We were seated right away and I ordered the $17 Bountiful, or the Sicilian Almond Pesto Pasta. The food came out quickly in 10 minutes. The pasta tasted fine. The pesto was good but I could have used more of it. The asparagus was crispy due to the sauté and I enjoyed it. My main complaints are the serving size and asparagus to pasta ratio. For $17, I'm expecting to not be left hungry after I finish my food. There was way more asparagus than pasta- should be the other way around. Too small a portion for $17 dollars. And I gotta say I didn't dig the atmosphere and general vibe of the place, at all. I guess the theme is self-affirmations, which is cool I guess. But it felt more like a cult to me. As in the kind of cult horror stories you hear about in which a person is seduced into joining by the cult erasing their debts, acting loving and supportive, providing food and shelter, that kind of thing. Been coming here for years and some of the servers are great, but some rub you the wrong way and are not fit for the service industry.

Pricey for mediocre food. The mushroom carnitas were not good. My husband got the I am whole bowl, it wasn't bad. Someone next to us got the I am well bowl. It looked good, maybe I will try that next time. I tried the fried mushroom sandwich on a different occasion. It was okay. The nachos were good. The coconut calamari wasn't great, too chewy. After spending a better part of the late morning and afternoon at Venice Beach me and my girlfriend were super hungry. So we started walking towards a place that we had been wanting to try. After arriving at the restaurant we come to find out it didn't open until 4. Disappointed but still hungry we decided to turn to our handy companion Yelp to see what was close that sounded good. My girlfriend found a place and it was only a short walk from where we were. She said it had several locations and she had recently tried one of them in downtown LA and assured me that I would love it. So after a short walk we arrived. We were welcomed at the door with a smiling face. I asked to be seated in an open booth that was close to the door and a waiter kindly checked to make sure it wasn't reserved. So we sat down and our waiter brought us menus and a bottle of water. It was happy hour(3-6 every day) so I ordered a Sam Smith beer and she got the Excited. Both the beer and the mixed cocktail were very good. We went ahead and ordered a couple of appetizers(Sharing and Community) and I must say, they were both very good as well. So while enjoying our appetizers we ordered a couple of bowls. I got the Smokin' and she got the Humble and they were both very delicious. This place is vegan and I love eating vegan when given the option but this place was a cut above the rest of the vegan places I had ate at before. The location was amazing. The environment was vibrant. The wait staff were friendly and upbeat. The customers were happy. This place was a great choice. We did takeout from here on my wife's birthday. She has been wanting to go here for a long time. The only problem is we live 350 miles North of here. . . Anyway. I am usually skeptical of these super trendy spots, but it was her call, and a good call it was! The food was delicious! I had something I would never make at home, an enchilada, but not your ordinary enchilada. This was stuffed with Jackfruit. It was perfect, and the sauces were also spot on. Can you please bring this to Atlanta, plz~ Heard John Mayer is somewhat involved with Cafe Gratitude and he's a Georgian, so I'll keep my fingers crossed~ On our last meal before departing LA, we fought to pick the last meal and while I was huffing and puffing that we're eating at a vegetarian spot for our last meal, I ended up loving it the most. Go figure lol. I had bad experiences with vegetarian restaurants where the food are just as heavy as regular food and on top of it, leaves me gassy and bloated. This surely wasn't the case here. We came to Cafe gratitude for brunch and grabbed a parking spot in the deck next to it. Inside, the restaurant felt very clean, refreshing, and positive vibe to it with lots of greenery and positive messages and words on the plates/menus/etc. Our group ordered the avocado toast, lasagna, taco salad, and macrobiotic bowl. My favorites were the macrobiotic bowl and lasagna. Both were refreshing and left you feeling full, yet very light and happy. My bowl was especially so colorful and appetizing that while it sort of looked like mush, a combination of 8 different veggies/sauces/etc, it was such an awesome dish! If vegetarian food was this good, I would become vegetarian but unfortunately we're not that fortunate with superb vegetarian restaurants in Atlanta. read more

The ordering is different because you use an app to order but we has a really helpful waitress to help with our order. Oh parking in the garage is awesome because they validated.
