Been here a couple of times and not impressed. The lady owner came to the table and was talking really close. I think she was trying to see how the food was but she was right in my face during Covid. Came back on another day and had a ham and cheese croissant and it was hard and stale. Then ordered a pumpkin croissant and it was also hard and stale. One was warmed and the other wasn't as I wanted to see if it had to do with warming it. read more

Worked here the other day and the music was super loud. Seemed like they were not encouraging people to work here though it's one of the only coffee shops in Kailua with seating right now that has WiFi (giving it an extra star for that). It seemed too loud for conversation too. At one point this rap song came on which started with a minute of a girl having an orgasm with no music. It got really awkward and then another customer cracked a joke and the whole place burst out laughing. This place has a lot of potential given the lack of competition. read more

MY FAVORITE COFFEE SHOP IN KAILUA! I adore the small space but with ample comfortable indoor and outdoor seating. It's fun to look at the local art for sale displayed on the walls! Their house made chai or matcha with lavender or pumpkin syrup is delightful. Not to mention their vast array of beautiful artisan pastries! Love the variety of music they play. I like this cafe, so I give 4 star, but I was pretty disappointed by their laksa. The Noodle was not good quality, the soup wasn't hot, the flavor wasn't so flavorful.. I like their pastries, but I wish the croissants are less greasy.. good customer service and good cafe overall..:) read more

Breezy -- lots of ventilation indoors -- and feels safe for those looking for a place to eat out during the pandemic. Friendly staff. Love the owners, Ernest and Jeanne, a dynamic well-traveled husband-wife team whose tastes are refined and highly informed. What a charming place -- decor so cute and retro (handpicked vintage pieces), walls featuring local artists -- the perfect escape. This place seems to attract the creative and energetic tribe, and as it turned out, we bumped into a few friends while there. A great neighborhood hangout. They just had their soft opening and will continue adding more menu items. If their current offerings are any indication, I can't wait for what may show up on the menu in the future. We visited Kailua to support local coffee shops while having a business meeting, but were disappointed with the service. The ambiance is nice. Seems to be a local hangout. Don't mind spending $3.50 for a 12 oz cup of house coffee, but when we asked for a refill, the trainee casher said, "we don't have refills." Never heard of this before. [[Maybe better answer could be, "we can refill your coffee but you have to pay another $3.50."] The finality of the remark was stunning, so I asked if we could pay for a refill and $3.50 was in the answer. Not used to rudeness, but trying to get over it, we ordered the two additional cups. We didn't finish our coffees but decided that we'd never return again. We were there to talk about local small businesses and how we should support operations. Better to visit Morning Brew, Coffee Bean, or two alternative shops immediately down the sidewalk. The staffs are nicer and more welcoming to their customers. Save your time and visit Kopi's neighboring shops instead. read more

Such a gem in Kailua! The owners Ernest and Jeanne are so lovely, attentive, and kind. The sweets and coffee are delicious - the lilikoi cheesecake was so fresh and to die for! I also tried the laksa, a Singaporean local dish. As a Singaporean myself, I can say their laksa tastes like the real thing! So good and a fond reminder of home. Parking in the back is ample and convenient. Great atmosphere, music, and service as well - a wonderful place to spend a weekend morning/afternoon! read more

A friend and I had ordered coffee from Cafe Kopi and while we were waiting for them to be made, we had sat down. While sitting, we were eating food that we had gotten prior to coming to the cafe and working on homework. The owner came out and let us know that it wasn't okay to bring outside food in but he would let it slide this time. I let him know we ordered and were waiting for our coffee, all was good. Ten minutes later (still no coffee) he came out and said that we "are taking up prime dining space" and that we needed drinks or food from them to be able to sit there. I reminded him once again that we were waiting for our coffee. We finally got our coffee and left as we felt we were being treated unfairly. I am pretty disappointed as this was a regular place for my friend and I to study at. Although after being treated the way we were, we will not be returning. read more

I lived in Malaysia for about a year adoring the different types of laksa there, and since moving to Honolulu I've been searching for a place that has an equally delicious equivalent. I'm very willing to make the drive up to Kailua for the Singaporean laksa at Cafe Kopi - sedap-lah!!! Nowhere else does it better. Simple yet so much depth of flavor... I loved it. So I wasn't sure what to expect because I'm a huge fan of noodle soups and also a huge fan of croissants and I can be pretty picky about both. I ordered the pan du chocolat, an iced chai tea and the famous laksa. I was pleased that all of them were really good. The croissant was really flaky and good sized-- my husband is French background so he's really picky about croissants as well-- he gave a thumbs up. The soup was amazing and really hit the spot-- and even the chai tea-- which 99% of the time I'm disappointed in when I try it at new spots-- was really good. It wasn't as spicy as I would like but it had a really rich flavor which was different that I enjoyed, as I find a lot of chai teas to be too weak. Overall I would recommend. I like the easy parking out back and outdoor seating. It's dog friendly. They are Covid safe. All in all a great cafe. I just wish I live in walking distance. read more

We stopped by this new place on our Sunday bike ride (usually from our house to Lokahi Market). We rend to stop by the Collective for Coffee and live music on Sundays and we did but it rained so we continued and found this place next to Chad Louis on Kihapai. Two things I can tell you, one, they were serving this incredible thai Laksa, I mean this thing was delicious. Huge shrimp, the inari-like tofu but better, Ramen noodles, sprouts and herbs and aromatic spices like you're sitting in a remote thai village. I always say when you're hungry,, everything tastes great, i.e. your standards have naturally been lowered. But I wasn't hungry at all, we were just killing some time. So unexpected, because they just look like a coffee shop. Second thing, their restroom (which I was relieved to find they even had) is equipped with a bidet and auto soap dispenser, which is just so awesome. Go to this place! read more
