Good breakfast option for Bar Harbor. A good amount of indoor and outdoor seating. My wife had the pancakes which I tried, they were good, not fantastic. I had the breakfast burrito. I liked this better than most. I ordered it with chorizo (a nice option.) It was served with guacamole, sour cream, and pico on the side. I was also offered hot sauce which I accepted. This cafe was so good, we went back. The coffee is wonderful and the Maine blueberry pancakes were fantastic! Really enjoyed the smoked trout scramble also. They grilled the Maine blueberry muffin to perfection. The seating is plentiful and the book theme inside is super cute. Tofu scramble was huge and tasted great. Cute decor too. Service was good and the outside was dog friendly. My mother can't walk far and I chose this place because it said parking lot available but when we arrived the lot was blocked with signs saying no parking/full even though the restaurant wasn't busy. read more

The mushroom toast is awesome but the mimosa is extremely weak, it felt like just water and syrup. We brought it to the attention of one of the servers and she corrected the situation with any issues. Still one of our favorite spots. Should give it try if you are in town. read more

We ate at Cafe This Way four days in a row while staying in Bar Harbor. We loved everything we tried. The blueberry pancakes were the best I've had (loaded with blueberries and crispy on the edges). My daughter said the eggs, bacon, sausage and toast were excellent. However, after tasting my blueberry pancake, she ordered a pancake to go along with her eggs. The staff was courteous and efficient and even though we had a wait every day, the turnover was quick. I would give 10 stars if possible. read more

So happy that we decided to wait for a table for breakfast at this location. We're told the wait was going to be about 30-45 minutes and were seated within the time we expected. The wait wasn't bad as the area is so pleasant waiting under a majestic tree with yellow failings. The server was super fast with the service, the chamomile honey tea did wonders for my cold that I am starting to catch and felt great. Currently there is no parking lot, so you'll have to park on a nearby street and follow signs to the restaurant which is located behind the Maine Made Gifts store. We arrived around 9:25 am on Saturday, literally right before a big brunch rush. They had to clear a table, and we were seated within a few minutes. Our waiter immediately came around with a pitcher of coffee, but you could order a coffee off their menu instead. Service was super fast and we got our food like 5 minutes after ordering. My dad built his own scramble and my mom got the CTW Breakfast Sandwich. My sister and I shared the Country Breakfast and were able to get one chocolate chip pancake and one blueberry pancake. They pancakes are nice and thin, not dry and thick like most pancakes. Overall, this is a solid breakfast spot with friendly staff, but there's nothing too special on the breakfast menu, but would be interested to try the dinner menu if we had more time in Bar Harbor! read more

Stopped in here early after watching the sunrise at Acadia. Service was awesome and food came out quick; they sat us at a heated bench because they could tell we were chilly. Everything was delicious and my girlfriend said it was the best pancake she's ever eaten (she eats a lot of pancakes). Homemade jam and real maple syrup brought to the table and the fresh blueberry muffin was great. Would absolutely recommend stopping in here while you're in Bar Harbor. read more

We came right at opening and we didn't need to wait very long at all. We actually drove past this place later on that day and they were packed so def go early! We got to pick either outside or under the tent. FOOD ORDERED The Harney (Corned Beef Hash w/ poached eggs, sourdough bread and covered with hollandaise sauce) - pretty good but the corned beef hash was a bit dry and I don't think it had the hollandaise sauce on it or at least it was a scant amount to notice. Blueberry pancakes - EXCELLENT. Honestly one of the best pancakes that I've tried. For me, I like thin pancakes with a bit of crunch. This was exactly it. With the butter, blueberries on top AND the maple syrup, excellent. Grilled Muffins - As per other reviewers, we got the grilled muffin and wowza had no idea grilling a muffin could make it so good! Cozy stop for breakfast after catching the sunrise at Cadillac Mountain. It has a very homey feel and it was the perfect spot for a hearty breakfast. The pancakes were the group's favorite since they were a bit different than your typical pancakes. They were very light and crispy with a texture similar to that of a crepe. Went here for breakfast on our last day of our long weekend in Bar Harbor. If we had gone here the first morning we would have never tried another place! The place is fantastic, and judging by the lines, it is very popular. Despite the crowd, I was very impressed with how quickly they moved through the waitlist. The host was super friendly and efficient. The menu has a bunch of items my wife and I wanted to try but we ended up falling for the specials which were excellent. I had the duck hash which was decadent with lots tender duck (possibly confit?) served with perfectly cooked eggs and hollandaise sauce. My wife had the challah French toast which she enjoyed and well cooked bacon. The service was prompt and very good despite our waiter being very quiet and reserved... not a big deal, just a little awkward. The other staff was super friendly and outgoing! First to the table Tuesday morning, we were a party of seven ladies ready to begin our day. Martin had his hands full with special orders and separate checks and he handled it as a seasoned server. I heard there's usually a wait but we came in early, just after 7 on a weekday, and sat right down. By the time we were halfway done though, there was a wait. Bacon and eggs were on point, as was the service. The space was cute and we easily found parking on the square. Unfortunately the food didn't really deliver otherwise. Toast were under-toasted. Vegan scramble was way too salty and when brought up to the staff, they recognized that immediately so it must be a normal thing, but they were able to make me another without tamari (I was worried "less tamari" would be too subjective). Home fries seemed very much like frozen ones form the grocery store - family was expecting more. Service was great though and we really enjoyed the atmosphere and cozy space. Probably not their best showing considering how popular this place is, but we didn't come back after our first visit. read more

Very good breakfast place! We ordered the Harney, Kit's burrito, and a seasonal salad to share. The portions were good sized and both dishes were wonderful. The seasonal salad was really fresh. Coffee was really good too. The inside of the restaurant is very cute and the service was very friendly. We went there at 11am and waited less than 5 minutes for a table. The outside seating area is reserved for customers with dogs, which is really nice! Next time we will bring our pups with us so they can hang out too. We will make sure to swing by here again for breakfast. read more

More like 3.5 stars, service was excellent, but food was just fine, nothing special. We arrived around 9am on Friday morning and place was pretty busy and we were the 5th party in line, but seated probably within 10 minutes (line moves real quick). They run a tight ship around there and tables are cleared pretty fast. Coffee was actually pretty good for being a diner type establishment. We had the burrito and corned beef hash. My corned beef hash was pretty good, eggs were cooked perfectly and the hollandaise was nice, I just wish that the hash was browned more/crispy. We came here for breakfast on our last day in bar harbor, it's a short walk from our hotel, when we arrived, we were greeted and seated immediately. The breakfast place has a lot of space, we feel much more comfortable compare with 2cates. I ordered breakfast as usual, girl friend ordered veggie breakfast. She said the veggie stir-fry with tofu is among the best. She is going to cook that at home later. My egg, toast, and the potato are all great! I finished all. We all have food memories that catapult themselves into the Hall of Fame. The kind of meal you'll tell your grandkids about. The kind of meal you try to replicate at home or somewhere else and all it does is reinforce just how good the original was. That was my blueberry pancake experience at Cafe This Way. First off, we loved Bar Harbor, but as with any tourist gathering spot, there's always a chance that the restaurants don't have to be spectacular to survive. That was NOT the case at Cafe This Way. This eclectic, artsy, fun, slightly off-the-beaten-path place would be a standalone in any area. The crowds were in full force, but they were still able to get us sat in under 30 minutes. We didn't take long to order because we know that 1) Blueberries in Maine are the best and 2) I was running a marathon the next day and the more carbs I could get, the better. The pancakes were gigantic with a slightly crisped, almost lemony edge. They were thin but not too thin, loaded with blueberries inside and on top, and a soft, melty butter on top. Just simple and perfect all the way around. The way they were cooked was just right with a nice tannish brown top but not burnt nor underdone. This little shop closes for the winter, and I don't know when they reopen in the spring, but all I know is if you come across this review and are in or traveling to Bar Harbor, this one is can't miss. read more
