Monday, 9:30am: I can't think of anything bad to say about Caffe Bianco. This is my first visit, prompted by my quest for the ultimate avocado toast in San Francisco. Situated in the Financial District this is the perfect caffeine stop around the corner from BART & MUNI. I think I missed the morning take-out rush. I'm sharing this huge space with a couple bike riding tourists, business man in suit & the requisite laptop camper. There's an abundance of seating, a few really nice upholstered chairs and round marble cafe tables. Classy but casual. Looking around this almost 2 story space with floor to ceiling windows there's a European vibe. Bonus upstairs seating that's currently closed off. I feel like I've entered a grand hotel lobby of yore. Order counter pretty standard no frills. They give you a number then bring your food to the table. Ashley, the owner brought me my breakfast. She's wonderful. Friendly fast service. Unobtrusive soft rock playing overhead. So the main event, avocado toast, forget the capers. Four actually toasted bread wedges artistically arranged in a circle, topped with generous spread of ripe avocado, olive oil, salt, seeds & lemon juice. Not sure what the red bits were, sun dried tomatoes? I was hungry & ordered a side of bacon & eggs. Three strips of yummy bacon, 2 small fried eggs cooked exactly to order. Loved the bergamot tea with steamed milk. I forgot my newspaper & happy to see someone left a newspaper. Oh well, the SF Epoch Times is Chinese language. Love the diversity in this city. I will definitely make a side trip here after my next Union Square dental appointment. If you live here you know that's 450 Sutter. Destination worthy, no regrets. Support Local!

Cute little sandwich and salad place in the FiDi. Doesn't feel like a chain because of the nice marble tabletops. Seems to have cut back on the cooked foods like lasagna, perhaps a pandemic staffing shortage issue, but the sandwiches were quite yummy. The Bianco Sandwich: Essentially an Italian combo with salami, coppa, mortadella and provolone. I'm also a fan of Italian combos because I don't like picking just one meat and the meats are usually more exciting than the typical American combos of turkey, roast beef and regular ham. In addition to the yummy meats and cheese, everything else worked really well. The tapenade and arugula helped add a nice bitter contrast to the richness. I'm not normally a fan of arugula by itself, but it gets such a glow up against fatty cold cuts. Prosciutto di Parma Sandwich: A bit simpler with prosciutto and fresh mozzarella, but equally delicious. A very generous amount of pesto alongside the roasted red peppers really liven up the ham and cheese. Also, the firm chew of the ciabatta is a great texture contrast to the softer fillings. Though maybe a bit high in sodium, beyond what you'd expect from cold cuts, since I was quite thirsty for a few hours afterwards. Perhaps the pesto?

Came in late morning and had an avo toast with eggs! Place is nice and no frills. The food was good and flavorful, really liked the fried capers on the avo! Will def come back again.

Unfussy spot for a grab and go lunch back to the office. Yet also pretty charming if you have the time to sit and eat-in for a little bit. My experiences unfortunately fall in the former but I've always thought what a cute space. Lunch basics like sandwiches, wraps, and salads but also a hearty breakfast menu. Nothing necessarily out of the ordinary but will more than suffice. Not the most efficient of lines but you get to the cashier eventually. The heart of Caffe Bianco is the overall vibe. From the folks that work here to the bright airy space with vaulted ceilings, it's a pretty laid back vibe to escape the hustle a little. Kinda hidden of Sutter, but perhaps that's what keeps Caffe Bianco charming and endearing to its fans.

One of my coworkers recommended this spot for chai tea so I gave it a try and it was great! Also ordered the caramel latte and both of their sweetness were just right. Their drinks are a little cheaper than the mainstream coffee shops around, Service was pretty good and pretty spacious, I would come back to hang out and try out their food next time!

I am so happy that this place is still in business!!. In fact. I have already visited and eaten here 3 times already within this year. It was so nice to relive my memories of when I worked as a supervisor here back in the 1980's. The place has not really changed all that much.

The oatmeal here is highly underrated. Packed with fruits and nuts. Ask them to add a spoon-full of peanut-butter to it if you want to get freaky. Laid back environment, and friendly staff. My go to stop in the morning.

The sandwich was good. Soup was bland. Drink was bland. Just pretty okay in my humble opinion.

They do offer WiFi is a great bonus and they have a restroom for customers. There is a couple of 2 person tables, a window side table for solo patrons, a communal table that can seat 6-8, and lots of outdoor seating. I would classify coffee shop as your neighborhood cafe that is great to get some work done and not necessarily a spot with unique drinks. They do have a good selection of pastries for you to try from (unfortunately I was too full prior to try!) I do appreciate that they did have samples for you to try out. Something cool I noticed is that they did have individual mini water pitchers with mini cups for you to take from their sugar/milk station. It's very thoughtful and I appreciate the attention to detail. Not a spot to drive to or add to the list as a must try but if you need a spot to lock in, this is a good choice if you're in the area :)

I have gone to Blackbird a handful of times and have enjoyed the experience each time. Blackbird is primarily a bookstore, but they do have an outdoor window where you can order drinks ranging from matcha (Rocky's Matcha, if you're curious about which brand they use), lattes, and tea. They also carry a good amount of pastries (even mid-day, they have a lot of goodies), which I really appreciated. When you order your drink, you have to enter inside the bookstore to wait for your drink to be called, but you can take the time to stroll around and look at their book selection and trinkets. Heads up: the seating here is limited but very lovely. Inside, there are a couple of community tables, but their outdoor area is absolutely magical, with lush greenery and benches for you to enjoy your drinks. This time around, I got one of their seasonal drinks, a honey lavender vanilla latte, and I paired it with an Earl Grey olive oil loaf. The portion of the pastry was generous and moist, while the icing was not too sweet. Overall, a great pick for a cafe if you're in the area.

Matcha latte with whole milk : It's very savory which is great, unsweetened by default. I thought this was one of the better matchas I've had if you want to be able to taste the matcha strongly. Olive oil spelt cake: It reminds me of pound cake. Not that sweet except the frosting/icing. It was okay but as someone who's not as fond of that kind of cakey texture, I'd probably not get it again. They have a really lovely garden and patio in the back. There is also a bathroom. The acoustics and set up for events isn't great, though. It was hard for me to concentrate on the speaker for the book talk since you can hear the noises from the cafe behind and also the sounds of other store customers all around you. That was the only downside, but I think it's a very charming bookstore otherwise.
