Cafe Matinal is such a fun little coffee truck near Crown Point! I had tried to come here once before but the line was crazy, so I gave up. This time I came early on a Sunday and it was SO worth it. I got the Turkish rose & pistachio latte, and it was exactly how I like my coffee - not overly sweet, with really subtle pistachio and rose flavors. They even add dried rose petals on top. The coffee itself is strong, which I actually loved because you can still taste the coffee through all the flavors. Definitely my cup of tea... I mean coffee hehe. We also got a bagel with cream cheese, which was simple, good, and filling, and a warmed-up pistachio croissant that was SO good. Perfect little stop to grab something before walking around Crown Point Park, which is super close. They have a table and a couple benches on the side if you want to sit too. This little mobile cafe is such a hidden gem! Cafe Matinal is located in a gas station parking lot. There is a little bit of parking to use. This is an outdoor coffee stand, so it was quite warm outside since it is mid-July. The owner greeted me warmly when I arrived and was very friendly and knowledgeable. He guided me through the menu and made many coffee recommendations. I was in between the iced Biscoff latte and the iced Pistachio Rose latte, and I ended up getting the latter. We talked a bit as he was making my coffee since I was the only one there, and I found out that he's had this coffee stand since 2024, first in North Park and now in PB. He mentioned that his stand became viral through a Tik Tok video last year and that he is very grateful for it since he thought his business would only last 25 days. When he gave me my coffee, he offered to trade it out if I didn't like it. Thankfully he didn't have to because the iced pistachio rose latte with oat milk was so good! It was not too sweet and you could taste the coffee, which was amazing. The owner's great customer service, his delicious coffee, and his attentiveness will have me coming back soon! read more

Cafe Matinal is an absolute hidden gem and the owner is truly one of a kind! We arrived around 7:20 AM and he was just finishing up opening his mobile coffee shop. Right away, he greeted us warmly, handed my daughter a banana, and kindly asked for about 20 minutes to get set up. He was ready in less than that. Good thing we were early, because by 7:30 a line was already forming! I ordered two iced biscoff lattes with whole milk, a side of milk, and five beignets with chocolate hazelnut filling. When I noticed he had used oat milk instead of whole, he immediately offered to remake both drinks. I told him not to worry about it -- honestly, the lattes were SO good it didn't even matter! But what happened next truly blew me away: he told me my entire order was on him for the mix-up. I insisted on paying but he wouldn't hear of it, and on top of that, he wanted to give my daughter a muffin too. I was speechless. That kind of genuine, above-and-beyond hospitality is so rare. The biscoff latte is an absolute must (even with oat milk), it was incredible. And the beignets with chocolate hazelnut filling? Do not skip them. The setup itself is charming! A cute picnic table alongside the mobile shop, fresh flowers nearby at the gas station, and just an all-around wonderful vibe. This man runs his business with so much heart. This is, by far, one of the best cups of coffee I have ever had. We stopped by the other day and went back today because it was THAT good. You can tell people in the neighborhood go there, one person had given them an ornament for Christmas that was still hanging in their window - people said hi to the man (Badr) working. We got oatmilk the first day and today he remembered and asked if I wanted it in my latte - so sweet, because I did indeed forget to mention it when I ordered. He also gives everyone little treats, a chocolate usually - but my son doesn't like sweets so when we declined the chocolate for him, he gave him a whole banana! He just wanted everyone to have a beautiful day, you could just tell. There's a little spot to sit and chalk for the kids. It's just a nice place - like the first cool breeze of driving into town. Welcome, warm, and just what you need. Now - people are likely going to complain about the wait. Or rate it lower... Because it does take a little to make the coffee, but it's so worth it. So worth it every time. The care he takes for your order, how well it's made - the wait didn't bother us enough to not go back the next day. So don't be a grouch and appreciate the time and care that goes into every cup. So much so I'd wake up early to get a cup on my way to work if I lived here - seriously so good. We did the pistachio rose latte and the forbidden vanilla latte - both with an extra shot of espresso. Iced. San Diego is over saturated with so many subpar coffee spots, it was so nice to take a chance and not be disappointed! The espresso here is so good; the picture speaks for itself. On two different occasions I tried the rose latte and the forbidden vanilla latte. Both were delicious and again I can't believe how great the espresso pull is! The service is friendly as well. Keep in mind there's only room for one or two people in the truck so if there's a line you may have to wait 5-10mins but it's so worth it. read more

Absolutely incredible coffee that you can tell is made with love and care! Honestly some of the best coffee I have ever had... absolutely blown away!!! To make the coffee so incredible, it takes time. It is worth the wait for the delicious handcrafted coffee. Also, the açaí bowl is one of the best I have ever had! I love how you get to choose your toppings and it is so fresh! The service is amazing and the staff is so friendly/sweet/welcoming! The coffee cart is tucked into a parking lot where there's some seating next to it, but it's great to grab a coffee and go for a walk or wherever you are headed to! It is right next to a gas station so there is some traffic going in and out of the parking lot. They take your name and call it out when your order is ready. They also always include chocolate with your order which is a thoughtful touch. The artwork inside the coffee cart is beautiful and the decorations make it feel inviting. They have fresh pastries that I am excited to try on future visits! I know this will be a go to spot for me and I am seriously blown away by how good this coffee is. I cannot recommend Café Matinal enough. I should capture how beautiful the coffee is, but it's hard to not drink it all right away because it is so so so good. He speaks French, and in French Matinal means "morning," and you can't go about the best morning without the best cup of joe from this man. Customers often find themselves talking to others in line, and this coffee truck has definitely cultivated a San Diegan community. The ambiance is beyond amazing! One of my favorite coffee spots in the whole nation. I highly recommend the iced Forbidden Latte, which includes freshly crushed hazelnut in front of your eyes. This place has been on my coffee list for a fat minute and I finally made the drive to check it out! It's located in a gas station parking lot, so parking is very limited and street parking was even harder. After circling a few times looking for parking I went up to the coffee truck to order and was told there would be about a 20 minute wait time for coffee. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to stay since I had an appointment and was short on time, so I wasn't able to try anything this visit. The cashier was kind, apologized and told me to have a good day. Tiny little trailer located off the side of VP Racing gas station - easy to miss if not looking but O-M-G don't miss it!!! I actually picked this spot when on the way to Campland on the Bay due to it being on TooGoodToGo...however I did not buy the 2G2G bag and instead came for the coffee. The gentleman working inside the trailer was hustling- when we showed up we were not the only customers. I was Yelp influenced to try the Biscoff Lotus latte and my husband tried the forbidden vanilla. He gave my husband and I enough Godiva chocolates to share with our kiddos in he car as well so everyone got a treat. I looooovvved my biscoff latte. He scooped some cookie butter and mixed it with the espresso, then topped with milk and then shaved biscoff cookie. So so freaking good without being too sweet. Husbands latte was good and reminded him of those Ferrero Rocher candies. It had some nuts in it. I thought it tasted ok but not as good as mine. Anyways I'm a fan- I walked back the next day with my kids and friends and we got more drinks, huge muffins this time too, and of course were gifted with more chocolates. And the presentation of the drinks and service was wonderful. We also got some pastries; one of their employees bakes them fresh and looking forward to trying their açaí. The coffee cart is located in the corner of a gas station parking lot. It's very colorful and inviting with a diverse menu. There is a small seating area on the side but we ended up parking our car and taking a stroll to Crown Point Park. We will definitely be returning, chatting with the owner was pleasant.
