I appreciate that when the servers actually acknowledge the kids and make eye contact and listen to what they want to order vs talking to the adults. Food came with ham when I specifically said no ham and due to my religious beliefs I can not eat pork as my pizza came with pork then when my new pizza came it was very cold and had olives clustered together in one spot. My friend ordered the crispy chicken which comes with fruit as she did not get any. Service was horrendous as we specifically asked for extra olive oil 3 TIMES and only got it 30mins after asked. I had an excellent time at this CPK! My server was very prompt and friendly and helped my group with any questions they had. She was quick to bring out the complimentary bread and was quick to bring out more when we ran out. Also, she checked in regularly for refills which was very nice. During the pandemic I ordered food from here and yes, at times there were misses, but I suppose humans (thankful to those who chose to continue to work thru it ) are cooking thus bound to make mistakes. Tonight, I visited in person and was very pleased. Yes, my order was originally made wrong, but the error was corrected. Service was great, i sat at the bar, a young lady, Brenda was hustling serving tables, taking orders, refilling drinks and staying on top of customer needs. Came here on a weekday afternoon and it seemed pretty busy but we were seated quickly. Unfortunately they seemed very understaffed for how busy they were and so we didn't get our server at our table very often. People came in after us and received their food before we did. Once we did get our food, my order was wrong. Both of our salads didn't have much dressing nor did the sandwich and we wanted to ask for more, but no one was around at any point for us to request it. After about 15 minutes our server came back and we had kind of lost our appetites so just asked for the bill and some boxes to go. I can understand not having the staff but they should have just not sat people in the section and overwhelmed the servers if it was too much. read more

I sat at the bar yesterday around 1:00 and had a great relaxing experience while my daughter was shopping in the mall. The lady bartender (sorry I don't remember the name) was sooo friendly and always had a smile on her face and was sooo happy to talk to in-between her slinging out those cocktails. She made me feel welcome and to come back next time my daughter is shopping. I had the wedge salad and the the Spicy Honey Bee focaccia. This was our first time visiting this restaurant. Upon arriving, the lead hostess did acknowledge us right away, sat us down quickly. Waited 5 minutes no acknowledgement from the servers, not even a simple hello or "I'll be right with you" our server Matt was dry with us, no personality. Very short with conversation. Didn't look at us. Later on there was a shift change. The server Monique didn't acknowledge us either, walked by a couple of times and nothing. Our mistake for going back again. Below are the 2 most recent issues ... We ordered a pizza a few days ago for pick up. The back patio was open, but the patio door was locked. Walked to the front entrance, however they directed us to the back (by the back patio) to pick up the pizza. Drove home, opened the pizza box, however they gave us the wrong pizza (it was basically crust and cheese), ate 2 slices, it was not good, so we tossed the rest, it was late ... went to bed still hungry. A few days later, still craving the original pizza. Tried again, ordered the pizza today, asked the associate if they'd give us a discount due to the recent issue, associate transferred us to the manager (Casey), and I explained the issue again. Manager asked if we complained a few nights ago, I said no ... we weren't going to go all the way back to CPK again that night, complain, wait for them to make another pizza, then drive back home again (probably would have been almost an hour's worth of driving back and forth 4 times). She asked 2 more times if we complained a few nights ago, I again said no. Manager said since we didn't complain a few nights ago, she didn't want to give us a discount today to help make up for the issue last time and make our experience with CPK better this time. Ordered next door instead. They were nice, made our order correctly, and appreciated our business. Last straw, not going back to CPK again, too many issues, not worth the time/headache. read more

My company ordered $750 in catered food from CPK. Portions were small. Salads were very tasty. However, I found a chip of porcelain in my salad. I went back to the restaurant and showed them the porcelain chip and asked how that could have happened. They said they would make it right. I spent 21 days in the hospital 2 years ago to have my diseased intestine (diverticulitis with an abscess removed). I am very concerned what would happen if I has ingested this little chunk of sharp porcelain. Things happen in the food industry but this was a very dangerous situation had I swallowed the small chip from their plate. Keep in mind, this was delivered to our company lunch and went into plastic bowls and should never have been server on any porcelain plate/bowl. I will be reporting this to the OC Health Department. CPK is not what it used to be. I remember dining at this chain when I was younger at the Marina Del Rey location in LA and the one in Temecula where I grew up and in the late 90s, early 2000s. It really used to be a great place to eat and the food was genuinely good. Was is the key word here. That's not the case anymore. The food here is just okay now. They have changed the menu over the years - that's inevitable but the portion sizes have been cut down. For example, on the bbq chicken pizza, the amounts of ingredients that are on the pizza are smaller. Not as much chicken, cilantro red onion and bbq sauce as before. They have really cheapened the food and serving sizes. My pizza was alright. Wasn't hot, wasn't cold, didn't taste bad or very good. Just okay. It was my birthday and I got a Sunday for my bday...it was spicy. I don't know if it was supposed to be that way or if it was an accident, I saw red color in the ice cream. I guess that's what made it hot. Idk, I probably won't be returning to any CPK now. This place is also so expensive for what it is. So sad, I miss how this place was. read more

Generally speaking, I enjoy a meal at CPK. Their pizzas really taste great - I've tried a bunch of them. And they have more and more on the menu in terms of non-pizza items year after year. So, all that's cool. On this recent visit, though, we just had a pretty sub-par experience. I will shout out our server, Zach, though... he was friendly and did all he could. Way to go, Zach! First of all - what's with the lighting? It was so dim in there... were they trying to set some sort of mood? It was like a lounge at midnight in there - not the vibe for a family-friendly restaurant. We were seated near the wall of glass windows bordering the mall walkway - so that was nice - we got light streaming in from outside the restaurant to help us see our menus. $5.99 for a kids meal - with a mini-pizza (or other entree), a side, and a drink. Pretty standard. The two sides offered were broccoli and fruit. We picked fruit. My wife and I each got a pizza - each one was more than $17. Prices sure have crept up here over the years. Then, it took a looooonnnngggg time for our food to come. There were, maybe, six other parties in the entire restaurant at this point. So, I have no idea what the holdup was. It's a good thing we opted for that bread at the beginning... or my kid would have had a meltdown. So, about 25 minutes after ordering (that's a long ticket time, FYI) our food arrives - and my kid's order is wrong. We asked for fruit - they brought broccoli. Not a huge deal - Zach would fix it. But, you know, kids are important. Then, after we ate and got full - we asked for boxes. That took a long time. Then we wanted the check - we were nearly handed the wrong one - Zach went to get ours. That took a long time. Then it took a long time for us to get our CC and receipt back. All in all, what should have been about an hour to get in, order, eat, and leave (we didn't do appetizers or dessert) took an hour and a half. And, really, the vibe was offputting, the food was fine - and is now pricey, and one of our orders was wrong. Nothing outrageously bad - just not an experience I want to repeat. read more

Them boneless beef short ribs braised in Pinot Noir are super delicious. Of course I had to go with their garlic cream fettuccine. Honestly can't go wrong with this except this time it might've been cooked for a bit too long it's not as juicy as it usually is. Last but not least, we tried their carne asada pizza. Christopher was our bartender. He was seriously multitasking at his finest he was helping staff members taking orders at the bar seating areas and tables. And he had a positive attitude the whole time. It's not easy multitasking with a positive attitude during holidays . I'm so proud of him. He made me and my boyfriend feel welcomed he was fast fun and friendly. My pizza was incredibly delicious. I ordered the California Club Pizza sounds weird looks weird but was delicious. And I ordered a shot of Tito's and Blue Moon. Yum they have a good variety of beers on tap and bottled beer they also have a selection of wines and Cocktails. I recommend this place to everyone. I say if you're going to shop stop here first order a drink or two eat and then shop that way you can walk off your food and walk around with the slight Buzz in a safe place inside the mall. None of the tables were getting enough attention and the most basic items needed multiple reminders. It was everyone running around non-stop. We experienced good service here with our waiter Justin. He was friendly and helpful and checked back on us multiple times. There was a small issue with our order and we had to ask again for the appetizer we ordered and the side of edamame with the Mac and cheese, but we got it eventually. We didn't receive bread until after we ordered, although we noticed that the couple next to us received bread immediately and double the amount. The food was delicious. We ordered the garlic fettuccine alfredo with chicken and the kids' macaroni and cheese with edamame, and the appetizer was the hot spinach artichoke dip with chips. I absolutely loved all three and highly recommend the dip! It's a little pricey for an appetizer but we believe it's worth it because the texture and taste are fantastic. The ambience was nice but definitely can use more lighting. I can see that they're trying to set a mood with low lighting but it's impractical when I'm straining to see. Mitch was such an amazing Manager this evening. The restaurant was packed but he was so patient and still took the time to address a technical issue on my account. He was so personable and I would return just based on how professional he was. I feel bad because I forgot our servers name but she was so sweet, attentive, and went above and beyond to provide a great evening for our 4 small (crazy) children. We recently threw a birthday party at this restaurant and I would highly recommend it as Mitch helped pick out great items off the menu and Jorge did a fantastic job in making it so special for our family and guests! Not a huge fan of this location. Came here one afternoon to refuel after a 3-hour shopathon at Brea Mall. The floors were dirty and that was the 1st thing I noticed. We ordered an appetizer, a pizza, a salad and a pasta dish to share. We got our appetizer pretty quickly, but when our server brought our plates they were unwashed and had food stuck to them. ewwww. The 2nd set of plates we got had residue water mark from the dish detergent, and I had to use my napkin to clean them myself. It's disturbing. Our meat craver pizza was pretty tasty but the pasta we got had some undercooked shrimps in there, not a fan of raw seafood unless it's at a reputable sushi place. I just don't get it, talk about having a crummy experience. So after many failed attempts at ordering takeout at CPK Brea, over the years I can finally say I'm done supporting this location from now till kingdom come. Tonight was the last straw. Normally, I can only successfully order takeout in person because the phone lines are really hard to get through, but today I was able to get through in a few minutes. So I successfully place my order ( or so I thought ) after getting through to what seemed like a call center to take my order. I confirmed the pickup location and waited the allotted 15-25 min to pick it up. I arrive at CPK only to speak to a kind gentleman about my order, to which they couldn't find a record of anywhere. None of the staff could find any trace that I had ordered anything under my name, even after confirming I called the correct number. So an hour later I walked out empty handed not wanting to wait another hour. Had I had the energy, I would have spoken to the manager, but it seems that at this location it's just not worth my time. I've tired to order online many times, but the algorithm won't take my credit card or gift cards so it's useless. I've tried ordering through the Postmates app, but it won't let me pickup through the app. And lastly I've tried calling to order.... But even if somehow I do get someone on the phone to agonizingly take my order, no one knows that I placed an order in the first place. On top of that, they will not let you pay over the phone anyways. So in reality a person would need an allotted 55 min to place a successful takeout order at CPK Brea. We ordered 2 drinks, a large bbq chicken salad, and a california club pizza (YES). Total with tax was about $48. Too bad there is no happy hour at CPK =( During our stay, I noticed everyone looking out a window (including the staff) so I walked over to check out what was happening. Located on the second floor of Brea Mall, this is a great place to come after doing a little bit of shopping done and get a bite to eat because you are defiantly famished from doing all that shopping ! So I now love how they have this cute tiny menu with little small appetizers. :) I have tried the asparagus and arugula salad which is great. Love both and they have a great taste with this combination. The dressing is light and not overbearing. Something that you should try out. The service is nice and if you want to get some bread you should ask for it while the server gets the water. One of my favorite salads to eat is the Asian one and the vegetable salad. :) Also if you want something that is pasta I did enjoy the portabello mushroom ravioli. But it isn't one of the best places. But all this food really isn't comparable to traditional Italian places! Just something to munch on if you are at the mall and starving hungry. read more

We had a group of 5 and the host disappeared, another couple came in and the staff were surprised that we were waiting. Didn't even know we were there. They sat the couple down that came in after us, before us. The best part was that they sat them at a table for 5... We waited forever for our drinks, had to ask for bread. By the time we ordered 2 couples who came after us had ate paid and left. I am sitting here 1 hr 30 minutes later with a messed up pizza and a burger that has been scorched. Had to send it back and wait another 20 minutes. Don't recommend, the one near us in Chicago is way better yet you would think "California pizza kitchen" would be good in California. They have many kinds of salads, light but very flavored. They always add new items, love the small dishes they have now, as well as thin crust pizza. It is inexpensive but the portions are not big, for a eater like me I need to order quite a few dishes. They have full bar.
