I had Calimingo design my backyard, pool, and build my room addition back in 2019. After some veryyyyy heavy rains that we do not normally experience in the beginning of the year, I realized I had some water coming in through my La Catina doors (installed on the room addition) - I reached out to Calimingo to point me in the right direction since it's been 5 years since they did the work thinking they'd have a recommendation for me. I was very pleased that they actually came out themselves to inspect what was going on and then took care of the repair at no charge. This is really a review for the design team since we have not started construction yet. We did a bunch of research and received a couple different design concepts and estimates from other companies. By far the best experience we had was with Mike and Jeff with Calimingo Pools. They were very accommodating to our currently crazy work schedules, they came out and did measurements and took pictures in our backyard where we are looking to upgrade, and they put together an incredible set of design options via their software platform. We were then able to get on a Google Meets session with Mike and Jeff and go through designs, continue to ask questions, and ultimately agree on a design that works for us. Came to give a quote in his decked-out sprinter for a minor pool and wanted to charge nearly 100 thousand dollars, this was months ago. Keep in mind this is a small backyard and it would be more like a plunge pool. Saw him on HGTV for a similar job and his total cost was 35k for even more work being done! So either this guy is putting on a show for tv to get business or he is lying. Really not pleased especially when I am prepared to throw 40k down on this project. Would love to phone him up and compare the work he is charging on tv to the work he is quoting privately. Complete scam. Guess he doesn't need my money and will take it elsewhere. read more

We hired Calimingo to do both (design and build), but this review is for its design services (we will review their construction work when that is complete). Working with Steve and Johnny, Calimingo was awesome from the very beginning. We researched and interviewed several firms. Clearly, Calimingo's online presence stood out - their website is engaging, detailed, and informative. And during the interview process, they were clear with the process and the expectations of the proposed project. It was a no-brainer for us to hire them to design our backyard and pool project. We had several meetings with Steve to talk through our vision. With each conversation, Steve's experience and expertise were instrumental in the process. And when Steve delivered the design, we were in awe. Seriously. We admired the renderings dozens of times. From there, we worked with Johnny on the pricing. Top notch incredible work. These guys are first class. I've been really wanting to get something done with our front and backyard for several years now but not knowing exactly how to go about getting a really nice design done that would complement our personalities. Me and my wife are both artists and I guess we're pretty picky. After having several contractors come over the period of a year and having several designs we were Starting to think maybe we wouldn't be able to find someone that would be a good fit until we found Calimingo Pools. I wish I could give 10 stars. This company is very impressive. This review will be a two part review because we are halfway into the project. I starting looking at their beautiful Pool designs years ago and hoped to one day have one of their pools but I was hesitant . I submitted a design request and was amazed on their responsive , friendly and professional service. Their attention to detail and professionalism is on another level. Best decision so far I have ever made. They don't charge large deposits upfront and take your money and disappear. I put in small a deposit and I'm billed progressively as items are completed. You won't deal with just one person , it's like your assigned a team of friendly specialists. One guy Adam is a design genius and provides the 2D rendering that includes daytime views as well as night views of your dream pool design. I worked closely with him to nail down the design. Another guy Sean and Jeff one of the honchos works to break down logistics and pricing. Then if you want to move forward you better be ready because if they can fit you into the schedule they do come when they say they will and things move quickly and efficiently. , They have another team that are what I call the field generals. The main guy I dealt with Russel runs the troops and the project. I also dealt with Sam who also manages the project and provides feedback on how project is flowing. These two guys are no nonsense to the point project managers they take charge so you can focus on work and not stress out. How much is piece of mind worth. To me it's priceless. If you notice all the names I mentioned. It's a team of people that take pride in their company , pride in their work and are committed to your satisfaction. These guys are all professionals working hard to perform and deliver not only a beautiful pool but also a beautiful experience . I originally thought all these great reviews couldn't possibly be true. Well to me Calimingo is the real deal. We have just completed the design process with Calamingo Pools for a new pool in our La Canada Flintridge home. This was a "best of class" experience all around. Kam, our Calimingo designer, was so professional, accommodating, and creative and was also incredibly expert with the design software (this meant he could revise the design on the fly while meeting with us so we could immediately see the alternate renditions - really really helpful! Calimingo just finished our yard and it is incredible! It's really nerve wracking going through the process of choosing a company to completely demolish your yard and rebuild when you aren't super construction savvy. It worked out perfectly though bc we hired them to do our design first. Johnny was so detailed about each step in the process and was far more knowledgeable than anyone else we had spoken to. The design was a great way to test the waters and see how the company operated. We knew we were a good match after that bc we had an amazing experience. The designs are good however the customer service and follow-up are extremely poor. We purchased both back and front yard designs and worked with Steve (I know people in the reviews cite working with Jesse but I don't believe that is the norm from our experience). The package is supposed to include unlimited design. Our initial designs were good and close to what we wanted and we did not go through much back-and-forth to get to something we liked. However I would say there are two main issues with this company. First they do a quote for you at the end. We had our scheduled and the salesman was extremely late with no notification and we were left waiting on a zoom call for several minutes with no response on a work day. Instead of apologize he was extremely rude, didnt apologize at all and never followed up again. It left a really bad taste with us. We called to follow up with the company directly and they said they would call us back and give us an estimate, but nobody ever to us. Secondly we had a couple of very minor design modifications after we had spent more time with designs. I emailed Steve (the designer assigned to us) from the company several times And initially did not hear back at all. When I did he told me it would take 2 to 3 weeks to make the changes I requested and then I never heard back again despite following up. I stopped trying but I would like to say that although we liked the design, we didn't get to perfect it, and the whole experience left a very bad taste with me. There were several people in the company that don't follow up, don't respond, and don't care about customer service though we were paying customers. read more

We did actually wind up getting 2 other bids but after that it was very clear that Calimingo had the best designs and were by far the most professional. Hey when I first moved to Los Angeles I didn't know anybody or had any connections to any of the local businesses sell when I bought a house that needed a pool I didn't know where to go. I did my homework and systematically that it multiple pool builders. As soon as I started dealing with Calimingo Pools I realized I had found the best in the bussiness. They were the fastest to respond. They took me through the design process within a week which would have been quicker but I had some ideas to work through that they actually made much better than what I had come up with. I had the estimate within two days followed by two months of waiting around for the other Pool companies to get me designs in estimates. I had five companies come out. Three of them did not do designs and the other two were lackluster. Once I had made my decision and signed my contract and immediately went into the permit phase which they informed me right from the start that it would take a couple of months and things were taking longer than usual because of Covid which was understandable and made clear to me which I appreciated. When we received the permits the system alerted me right away and within a day I received a phone call from my project manager to schedule the start date which happened three days later. As soon as these guys suffer on my property they never left until the project was completely finished. There was a project manager and two assistant project managers in charge of my project along with the foreman who was on site every day all day. They also had cameras watching my project and I understand they have an auditor that watches the cameras. I think the secret to their success besides being amazing designers is that they have an amazing organization. I must have talked to at least eight different people in charge of different departments along the way. Specialists and each department. Sales, design, estimating, permitting, project management from what I can tell. And being a Business owner myself they must have a pretty robust IT department. Very impressed with you guys at Calimingo pool. Thank you again for making this a pleasurable experience. Just read another review that said Jesse is maybe "too Hollywood". I don't think that's it. He may come across a bit direct at times, but don't let that fool ya! Although we've only met via phone and text, we found him to be a really sweet guy who cares a lot about his customers! We decided to go with Proscapes for our backyard design, but because of distance (we live in Northern California), we will most likely have to find someone local do the majority of the work. I soo wish that wasn't the case, as I'd love to have Jesse be the one to make his designs come to fruition! A few things were a bit tricky to coordinate and communicate about because of distance, but we got through it. We adore the way our design turned out! From the time we had our screen share meeting, I couldn't believe the potential Jesse saw for our yard! Jesse and his team are sooo creative and saw a vision for our awkwardly shaped yard that I had struggled with seeing for years! He has some skills peeps!
